Work Text
Ever heard of a virtual slut? Of someone calling themselves a mental whore? It’s used for describing someone who lusts so desperately with utmost depravity in their mind, yet still being a preciously pure virgin. It is the perfect description for Jason Todd, who is so full of want and desire, but is a hopeless romantic with trust issues to boot. So much so, that he cannot bring himself to act on his lust, no matter how badly he craves. His only saving grace is his way of words. It’s his outlet for all of this frustration, and it brings in some money, anyways.Jason is an erotica novelist. It started as diary entries containing his filthiest fantasies meant strictly for venting, and eventually he let his drunk self edit the snippets into actual chapters with even a hint of plotline. He woke up, with the hangover of all hangovers, to a dozen (apparently very horny – welcome to the club) strangers on the internet, absolutely singing his praises, asking for more. A few even said that he could publish and print this stuff. And he did.Well, fuck.It was only ever a way to work out his sexual frustration; he never expected this positive of a response. It was never even supposed to be seen by the public. Lucky that he only ever mentions traits and characteristics. Never first or last names. A pet name here and there, but nothing obvious.Sure, the main character has the same unique blue and green eyes as he does, is as big as he is, has the same hair and skin and quirks. And sure, the co-stars in the chapters have some very identifying features if you know who he is and who his acquaintances, friends and allies are.But then, the readers don’t know who he is now, do they? He’s not writing under his real name, is he? Besides, Jason Peter Todd is still dead. There is no way for anyone to guess that JP Bennet and Jason Todd are one and the same. And what are the odds that anybody in the cape community is in the habit of reading porn, right?Laughable, really.Nobody will guess that the shaggy haired ginger with green eyes and biceps the size of tree trunks, who took his character’s virginity, could be the same as Jason’s best friend. That the man who awakened Peter’s (yes, he ended up naming his character when he decided on publishing to lessen confusion) shameless strength kink could be the goofy-yet-deadly trucker hat wearing Arsenal.Nobody would know that the sapphire eyed Romanian cop could be Jason’s not-brother Dick. And, oh, how Jason’s cunt clenches as he types those particular chapters. Only Dick, as Jason imagines, could make intense, kinky sex so sappy and emotional. Jason did always love it when Dick used to push his body’s limits in training – especially flexibility training – when he was younger, yet still treating him like he was something precious.Nobody would connect the dots between the white-haired older man who Peter calls daddy and begs for spanking is the deadliest mercenary. Jason didn’t include the eyepatch anyway, even if he so wanted to, and Slade isn’t a mercenary in the stories, but an army veteran he ran into at a bar in Texas. He does, however, include how wet the gruff voice makes him- makes Peter, during phone sex in particular. And few enough people are aware of his connections to Kyle Rayner to guess that he is the sometimes-hatefuck-sometimes-enemies to lovers trope who has a brilliant array of toys (Jason wholeheartedly believes the man could get very creative with that ring of his) that inspired Peter’s size kink. He can’t help but include that the green-eyed, black-haired lover is an artist; the potential for nude modelling scenes too delicious to pass up.Oh, and the tall, muscled redheaded woman with an iron will couldn’t possibly be his amazon fellow outlaw, of course. It’s a mere coincidence that the woman, who is so, so good with her strap-on that she turned Jason – uh, Peter – into such a pillow-princess has a similar way of talking and moving as Artemis. And if the woman who joins the artist in his reappearance looks and acts the same as Donna Troy, no she doesn’t. But, fuck, how many times has Jason fucked himself into overstimulation to the thought of them working together to take absolute control of him? To work him over again and again and again?Even when he puts Roy and Kyle, er, the archer and the artist, he means, together in a chapter, the redhead playing with his pussy with those clever fingers that are so careful when building his gadgets, and the dark haired man eating out his ass… Even when these two star in the majority of his stories… Point is: Jason’s not gonna get found out. Of course he isn’t. Nobody even knows that he writes, never mind that he has published anything. Nobody really gives a shit about the Red Hood’s life aside from whether he’s still keeping his promise of only killing in self-defence or in the defence of others.Only, he is proven wrong when he walks into Dick’s room one day, and sees a very familiar book, 'Bound by Law,' sitting innocently on the big bird’s bedside table. Dick, stepping out of the bathroom, sees him staring, “Oh, you interested in that stuff?”You have no idea, Jason thinks, but doesn’t respond. Dick continues talking unaware or unbothered by Jason’s frozen state of panic, “Wally gave it to me for my birthday. He said he thought it was exactly to my tastes. And boy was he right. You know, I’m not much of a reader, but damn this author’s good. Have you read any of their stuff?”And, shit, Jason’s praise kink is lighting up his nerves like a christmas tree. He promptly forgets the reason for coming here, backs right out the door with a flimsy excuse and hightails it the fuck out of Blüdhaven. He might have fucked up.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
Everything’s fine. He’s fine. Dick just happens to like the genre. He doesn’t even know Jason writes. It’s fine. Dick does not, and will not, know a single thing about Jason’s actual series.Well, he does, but he doesn’t know it’s Jason. So, it’s fine.(Maybe if he repeats that enough times, he’ll manage to convince himself.) The silver lining that can almost distract Jason from his anxiety pops up on his screen when he checks his phone after a long shower full of overthinking. It’s a twitter (he refuses to call it X. That’s not gonna happen.) notification. He’s been tagged by an account called @Glowstick. Weird name… he clicks on the message. It reads, “inspired by JP Bennet’s book: The Annoying Muse.”And Jason is blown away. That’s art. Fanart. About Jason’s book. The one with Kyle, the reluctant college roommates story of the artist who was struggling to get the anatomy right and paid his roommate, Peter, to model for him. And, well, in the story, it started with normal poses with clothes, until Peter started mock-flirting as an attempt to piss the artist off. The artist called Peter’s bluff, though, and soon he was naked. Then further in the book, he’s naked again, but strapped to his bed and stuffed with a plug, a vibrator and a gag while the artist calmly sits at his easel, committing the image to canvas. It is that particular scene that @Glowstick apparently decided to draw. Unless they just reposted someone else’s art, which would immediately throw Jason’s respect for them out of the window.Upon closer inspection, however, he notes the watermark on the image that matches the username. Okay, @Glowstick is safe from his wrath. He responds with, “Holy cow, that’s brilliant. That’s exactly how I imagined the scene! (You made Peter much prettier that I’ve ever intended him to be, though)” And adds a thinking emoji with a blushing one and then a bunch of hearts.Putting his phone on charge, Jason climbs into bed and snuggles under his thick duvet. Winter’s fucking cold in Gotham, okay? Maybe he’ll go visit the island for a week or two— invite the other outlaws, make it a whole thing… He falls asleep thinking about the island, and dreams of a head of black hair between his thighs, green eyes peeking up at him while a clever tongue wiggles in and out of his cunt. Jason wakes up to a new twitter notification. @Glowstick has responded. The cold apartment takes his attention when he practically feels the temperature drop a few degrees. He shivers and snuggles further into the covers, clutching his pillow against himself. First things first, he opens the Outlaws groupchat and rolls his eyes again at the silly nickname Roy set up for him, and the group unanimously agreed upon.
Out-laws are better than In-laws
Precious Baby: anybody wanna go to the island with me for a week or so? ‘s cool if you guys don’t want to, but I’m going to be there for a little while. Just thought I’d ask. (07:23) He stares at the screen. He wants to hope someone will agree, or even respond to him since he never messages first… But he doubts they will.Yeah, no. They’ve got so many other, more important things to do than to hang out with his sorry ass. Shit. They’re gonna feel obliged and just indulge him while he wastes their time. Oh no. Precious Baby: Actually, nevermind, forget I said anything. (07:24) He looks at the screen again. Nobody is online. Okay. Shit. Don’t panic, it’s fine. They’re just busy.He opens twitter to look at @Glowstick’s response.
“I’m glad you approve! However, I think I didn’t make Peter pretty enough, haha.”
Snorting, Jason types back. “I mean, he’s kind of dull, isn’t he? He’s just a slut in a novel.” And then he adds a shrugging emoji for good measure and puts his phone aside to get ready for a trip to the island, completely unaware of the argument he just started. Miles away, Kyle is pissed. How dare this asshole insult Peter like this? And it’s the actual author, no less! No, he won’t stand for this. Peter might be fictional, but the familiarity pinging in Kyle’s brain refuses to let such blatant defacing slide. He cracks his knuckles and starts typing. On the plane, heading for the island, Jason checks his phone, faced with an angry dm on twitter. Instead of feeling hurt or mad at the words, he’s just surprised that someone would go to such lengths to defend his character, to unknowingly defend him.Well, it isn’t like @Glowstick knows Peter is supposed to portray the author, but still…Here the guy is (he checked the bio for pronouns) listing all of Peter’s good aspects and beauty and why he is a gorgeous and precious angel and Jason can’t help but laugh. If this guy only knew who he is, he would be singing a very different tune.He responds.
“Look, man, I really didn’t mean to start anything, or offend you or whatever. I’m just genuinely surprised that someone could imagine Peter to be someone worth such love and affection. That’s all. Feel free to keep drawing him like that. Your art is really good. Are you planning on making more?”
Hoping that was polite enough to appease the guy, Jason hits ‘send’ right as the plane lands.Upon exiting, he is immediately attacked.“JAYBIRD!”And Roy is wrapping him up in his arms and fucking lifting him up. See, this is why he has a strength kink. Jason is not light, but Roy is swinging him around like a doll—and oh, isn’t that a thought.“Hello, Roy. You can put me down now, Roy,” he tries his best to sound annoyed and not like he is absolutely swooning.Roy puts him down and takes Jason’s bag instead, like some maiden who can’t carry their own shit. He’s about to complain, but the ginger is already heading for the house. Whatever, he thinks, guess it is kind of sweet of him in a different context. In a different context, Jason is Roy’s, and Roy takes care of him as his lover, romancing him and being all Knight-like.Yeah. That’s not gonna happen. Jason doesn’t just get nice things. And Roy. Roy is a very nice thing. Inside the house, Jason is greeted by Kori, who draws him into a bearhug and kisses his forehead, and then Bizzaro bounds over to pick Jason up too, hugging him like a teddybear, and Jason is just hanging limply, trying to push down his blush.“Red Him! Missed!”Jason brings up a hand to pat his big friend’s back (and only reaches the ribs), “Hey, Biz. Missed ya too, Big Guy.”As soon as Bizzaro sets him on his feet, there is a new hand around his waist, tugging him into an armoured chest, derailing any attempts to gather himself. “Hello, Little One,” Artemis murmurs into his hair. He’s so confused. Why is everyone so affectionate with him? Well, he is definitely not complaining, his mind is melting. But he has no idea where all this is coming from. He refuses to mention it, lest they stop.“Hey,” he greets back, “didn’t think I’d be seeing any of you here…” his words trail off in a mumble and he looks at his feet, completely missing the looks that the others are sharing.“Well, you asked, dear Jason,” began Kori’s sweet voice, “and so we came.”Artemis squeezes his waist. “Did you not see our responses to your messages?”With a questioning noise, Jason digs his phone out of his hoodie pocket. There are, indeed, a couple of messages on the groupchat.
Out-laws are better than In-laws
Actual Princess: Jason! We have not heard from you in a while! Of course we can! I’ll leave in an hour xxBest Warrior: This is a brilliant plan, Little One. I shall see you soon.Biz the Wiz: Very excited to see outlaws!!!Arse: I’m always keen to see our Jay!!! See you soon, Jaybird!!!!! “Oh,” is all he manages.Roy snorts, “yeah, oh. We really gotta work on that self-esteem of yours, Jaybird.”“Indeed,” Artemis’s voice rumbles through Jason where she’s positioned him in to lean his back against her chest, which he only notices now – man, he must be more tired than he thought. He hums, leaning further into her warmth and wonders how much contact he can get away with before the Amazon pushes him away. She simply chuckles and leads him toward the massive couch that can fit all of them. He’s dozing off as soon as he is settled into the cushions, barely registering the other bodies laying down with him.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
Jason wakes up pleasantly warm for the first time since… well, since the outlaws last made a cuddle pile for him. Ever since finding out that Jason is always cold (side effect from being dead for half a year) when Roy had shoulder-bumped Jason in the height of summer and felt his freezing skin, they’ve all been making a point to keep him warm as possible. As it is, Jason rouses from sleep slowly. There’s a muscled chest at his back with an arm wrapped around him with a hand resting on his stomach, and his head is resting on a soft chest. He opens his eyes to see Kori’s orange skin and when he peeks down, there is Roy’s freckled arm. That explains the warmth. He looks around for the other two and finds his answer when the delicious smell of pancakes wafts into the room, along with Artemis barking strict cooking instructions. He sighs happily into Kori’s chest. He’s missed this. They spend most of the day on the beach, doing everything that normal civilians do on beaches. Jason and Bizarro built a 10-foot-long sandcastle with some cheating and tweaking with superpowered/magical help. Roy would occasionally run up to them and give Jason a sopping wet hug and shake the water droplets out of his hair, basically giving Jason a shower. Jason plays at annoyance, but he welcomes the playful affection, and the water cools him down a bit. When they eventually return to the house, Kori and Artemis busy themselves with cooking dinner on the grill outside while Biz and Roy tinker with some gadget or other. Jason excuses himself to his room. Settling on his bed cross-legged, he opens his laptop to write a little bit. He’s deep into a chapter of his college-set roommates story about the artist; a sequel to The Annoying Muse. He’s decided to bring in a new character; Peter’s big brother’s best friend who has red hair, freckles, and a backwards trucker hat. He also happens to be in the university’s archery team. By pure coincidence, he is Peter and Kyle – uh, the artist’s – next door neighbour, and he heard some exciting sounding noises through the really-not-very- thick wall and decided to stop by to “borrow some sugar.”
‘Peter is lying perfectly still, looking at his roommate’s side profile as the man scratches away with charcoal on the paper. Peter can’t help but think, “God, this man is beautiful.” Though he would eat his own dictionary before ever admitting it aloud. He hums, not to complain or whine, or anything. He just wants a moment of acknowledgement to keep himself in this headspace: safe, protected, watched over and owned by the artist. Belonging.
He can’t say a word or call his name to get his attention, what with the ball-gag in his mouth. He doesn’t need to speak, though, as his roommate is already completely focused on Peter and looks up immediately to catch his muse’s eyes. He knows what Peter needs, and smiles softly at him, “you’re doing beautifully, Sweetheart,” and Peter sighs happily and starts to let himself float when-
A sudden rapping of knuckles thunders through the dorm room.
The artist’s face screws up, instantly angry. Peter was just starting to relax after an extremely tense exam week, and some asshole has to choose this moment to ruin it. He stands, gently brushes his roommate’s hair out of his face and kisses his forehead, “I will be right back, Sweetheart,” and leaves the bedroom.
This had better be fucking important.
He yanks open the door, “What!”
In the doorway, green eyes twinkle at him mischievously through bright strawberry blond hair.
The artist-’
Jason startles upright and snaps his laptop closed at the knock his own door, looking wide-eyed at the entrance to his room.“Whoa, Jaybird, just me,” says Roy.Hah, speak, well, write of the devil and he’ll appear.“Whathca hidin’?” asks Roy.He’s joking. Jason knows he’s joking, but panicked reflex makes him say too quickly, “N-Nothing!” goddammit, a stutter. His friend’s face goes from playful to slight confusion. “Uh, you alright, Jay?”“Yeah, fine,” Jason squeaks. “Don’t worry about it.” He shoves his laptop aside, “Did you need something or are we just hanging out?”He doesn’t want to sound like he doesn’t want Roy here, after all.Roy leans backwards on the bed to put his weight on his arms stretched out behind him. A move that, as it happens, shifts this arm muscles ever so slightly but makes Jason’s cunt clench and start to get wet, regardless.Maybe he should make Roy leave, or he’ll soak his underwear.“Well, I mean, we could hang out in here,” he leans forward, “just the two of us.”Jason’s breath stutters and he feels his face heat up. Roy notices the change immediately and there’s a shine of something in his gaze, before the usual grin comes back.“But, I was sent to get you for dinner,” as soon as the redhead stops speaking, Jason’s stomach decides to make itself known.Roy stands and holds out his hand for Jason, “Well, no arguing with what the body wants.”Again, Jason knows what he means, that he’s talking about food. But he clenches at the words anyway.Ignoring it, he grabs Roy’s right hand with his left and is pulled up, off the bed and to Roy’s side before he can blink. He swears, it’s almost like Roy is teasing him on purpose. He bites back a whimper and follows his friend – who hasn’t dropped Jason’s hand – out to the patio, trying his best to get his blush under control when the man hollers, "I have collected the baby!" Dinner is enough to distract him from his story, even though his arousal still makes itself known every time he makes eye-contact with Roy. But other than that, the conversation flows as normal until Jason inevitably insists upon clearing the table and washing the dishes. Then Bizarro drags him to the couch where the two of them play video games for a few hours and the others occupy themselves with whatever. On the way back to his room, he passes Roy who winks at him with a cheeky, “night, sweetheart,” that completely halts him in his steps.Roy’s never called him that before.Shit.Shitshitshit.He darts to his room and very nearly slams the door. He rushes to his laptop, but nothing is different. His room is exactly as he left it before dinner. It’s fine, everything’s fine. He’s just paranoid. That’s all.
