Work Text
It was snowing when I found them, tucked away between supplies and inside an old woven basket. I could only assume that the boddies I found, torn apart and uncreconizble had been this little ones parents. Small is what came to my mind when I held the small Owlin in my arms, there was no name and no nothing to call them. I understood I had two choices, one choice was what should of been the obvious to most. Give them up and let them be raised in the orphanage within the town I stopped at for the night. But the second, the second choice is the one I decided to choose. I'm not a good man, I cannot have children of my own and I'm not getting any younger. This owlin, was the gods way of telling me for once I have a choice in what I'm allowed to do with my life. I do not know how to raise a child, however I will learn. I might have only had them for a few hours but I'd do an ything to keep them safe from the horrors this world holds. As for a name, I decided on an old friend of mines name. Remmy, rather fitting if I'm being honest. Rather fitting indeed.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
Remmy Montigue, was an interesting subject to my life. Having only met him five months prior, I had never met someone so spirited or full of energy before now. Their bubbly nature almost made me sick, to happy for a person or that was my first thoughts. But as these months passed, they have become someone I trust with my life. I could of lost more than my eye that day, but I didn't. Their skills in basic medicine despite being slightly bad at wrapping wounds saved my life. An infection, or worse could of killed me but he chose to stay and keep me safe instead of leaving like most his kind would. My kind aren't well percieved by most thanks to some of us having different ideals, it was how I lost my mother, because of some adventuring party who was hired to remove the goblins from the old farm because of them being 'hostile'. My mother wasn't hostile, she tried to talk and I still remember her blood staining my clothes. They had left me to die, without a mother. I got lucky, I kept getting lucky afterwards. However I'm getting off track, my point is that he had a choice to let me die and didn't.He was caring, and their smile was what I'd look forward to daily now because of it. I owed Montigue, I was in their debt. And no matter what, I would protect the one who saved my life. Because Motigue was all I had left, the only person in this terrible world who actually had a Heart that wasn't rotten out and blackened by greed or fuled by hate. Nobody who glowed brightly as the sun itself could become a monster, and if they did than I would still be by his side. For he's my best friend, and I'll stay loyal till the day were both just bones in a grave.
