Coinys Pokemon Adventure

Work Text

Today, me, Firey, and Woody are starting our Pokemon adventures! Firey's my main rival, of course, and I'm not too scared of Woody, so I think I can handle myself well. I see that Firey has chosen Charmander as his starter, so, because I want to pick the starter good against Firey's, I chose Squirtle as my starter.

That left Woody with Bulbasaur, and, since I thought I could beat Woody and his Bulbasaur easily, I took them on first. But, then I realized when I looked at Hydro's (Coiny's Squirtle's) moves, I had noticed that he had already known a Water-type move, in Water Gun, which, since gen 8, it learns at level 3 instead of level 7! Which means... As I had feared, Woody's Bulbasaur already knew Vine Whip, and it's only level 5! By just one Vine Whip, Hydro faints. "Good job, Woody!" Firey says. "Wah wah!" Woody says. I returned Hydro to his Pokeball. Firey takes down Woody, by no surprise, and I run out of the lab, but not before saying to Firey: "When we battle, Firey, you'd better be ready!" Firey shouts back: "I will be!" I had no need to worry about my battle with Firey, because, unless he catches a Grass or Electric type, me and Hydro have got that win in the bag! And what's even the chance of him catching a Pokemon of either of those typings? As far as I know, there are no Grass or Electric types in any of the routes pre-Pewter City! Sure, there are Pikachu in Viridian Forest, but it's only a 5% chance of you encountering one, so I should be fine!

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

"Waaaaaaaah! Raging Gyarados!" says a voice. Someone runs past me in fear, and I am confused. Raging Gyarados? What did they mean? There are no Gyar- My thoughts are interrupted by a thunderous cry. "GYARA!" Wait... that... that's a Gyarados cry! I guess I somehow stand corrected. Uh-oh. That means Firey might be able to find a Grass or Electric type! Oh, snap out of it, Coiny! Sure, you don't have an Electric type to deal with the Gyarados, but you've got this! "Hydro! Come on out!" I said, sending out my starter. "Squirt!" Hydro says. We run to the where I heard the Gyarados cry, and find it in a seriously bad mood, but, I feel like it's not angry, for some reason.

I find a red scale on the ground near the water. It seemed to be a Gyarados scale, but not blue. A shiny Gyarados scale? Maybe the shiny Gyarados went missing overnight, and that's why this Gyarados is so upset! "Gyar!" Gyarados says. "Gyarados, calm down!" I said. "Squirtle!" Hydro says. Gyarados looks downwards, and sees me and Hydro. I notice how long the Gyarados' fangs are. "Wow! Those are some long fangs you got there!" I said. "Gyara!" Gyarados says after hearing the word 'fang'. "Fang? Is that your name? Is your name Fang?" I ask it. "Rados." Gyarados says affirmatively. "Well, nice to meet you, Fang! I'm Coiny, and this is my partner, Hydro!" I said. "Squirtle!" Hydro says. "We've noticed this red scale. It's from your friend whose a shiny Gyarados, isn't it?" I ask. "Gyara." Fang says, sadly confirming by assumptions. "Don't worry, I'll find your friend, Fang!" I said. "Gyara!" Fang says, slightly happy.I eventually find a somehow familiar green object wearing a black and purple mask over their face holding Fang's friend, shiny Gyarados, captive inside a net. "Hey! Let shiny Gyarados go!" I said. The object turns to face me, revealing their deep red eyes. I gulp after seeing their red eyes. "And what are you gonna do about it, noob?" they ask, and they sent out a Jolteon, who had similar red eyes.

(just imagine this picture, but with red eyes.)I gulp even more after seeing their Jolteon. Aw, geez. I had almost forgotten about Hydro's Electric type weakness! I was so focused on saving shiny Gyarados, and, previously, winning against Firey when we do battle, that I didn't think of the possibility of this object having an Electric type! No wonder they were able to net up shiny Gyarados so easily! I feel movement underground, and, before I could question it, a Diglett popped out and used Dig to hit the Jolteon!

"Diglett, Dig!" Diglett says. "A Diglett!" I said. "Dig Dig!" Diglett says. I decided to catch the Diglett, because I would need it to take on Lt. Surge later on, though I would've rather used a stronger Ground type, Diglett, which I nicknamed Dig-Dig, will have to do for now! Plus, it's gonna be helpful in the current situation. "Dig-Dig! Let's go!" I said. Dig-Dig exits his Pokeball. "Diglett!" Dig-Dig says. "Don't worry, shiny Gyarados! We'll get you out of there!" I said. "Dos..." shiny Gyarados says, clearly in pain. "Glett!" Dig-Dig says. I silently whistle, and Fang appears behind a tree, without being noticed by the object or their Jolteon. Pre-now, I had told Fang to follow us without being seen, and when I gave the signal, to free shiny Gyarados from the net. A Thunderbolt from Jolteon heads towards me and Hydro, but, thankfully, I had a few Yoyle Berries in my bag, so I ate one, stood in front of Hydro, and the Thunderbolt bounced right off me. "What the?" the object asks. "Huh. Didn't really think that would work, but, yay! Yoyle Metal is immune to electricity!" I said. I signal to Fang, and he cuts shiny Gyarados free from the net, which leaves the object shocked.

"What? How?! How did I not see that Gyarados coming?!" the object asks, confused. I have an idea, but I gotta get Hydro out of the danger zone first. "Hydro, return!" I said. Hydro returns to his Pokeball. "Gyara?" Fang asks. Shiny Gyarados weakly gets up. "Yara?" SG asks. "Gyarados!" Fang says. Thank goodness, shiny Gyarados is okay! Alright, now, to put the plan in action! "Dig-Dig, use Earthquake!" I said. Since both Gyarados' are part Flying type, I didn't need to worry about them when using the move. "Diglett!" Dig-Dig says, and it makes the ground shake, fainting the Jolteon. "Jolteon, return!" the object says. Their Jolteon is returned to it's Pokeball, and they run off. "This isn't the last you'll see of me!" they said. "Yeah, whatever!" I said. Is it weird that I sorta want to catch my own Jolteon now?I helped Fang bring shiny Gyarados back to the pond. I didn't wanna leave Fang there, but he has to care for his friend, so I can't get in the way of that. "Poli!" says a voice. I turn around, and see Fang is talking to a Poliwhirl.

"Poliwhirl, whirl! (translation: Don't worry, Fang!) Poliwhirl! (translation: I'll take care of shiny Gyarados, you just go travel with that coin!)" Poliwhirl says. Are... are they talking about me? "Gyara? (translation: Are you sure you can handle her on your own?)" Fang asks. "Poliw! Whirl! (translation: I'm sure! I've seen you do it all the time!)" Poliwhirl responds. "Gyara. (translation: It's okay, Fang, I want you to go with him.)" shiny Gyarados says. "Dos! (translation: But!)" Fang says. "Poli! Poliwhirl! (translation: No buts! We'll be fine, so go!)" Poliwhirl says. "Rados. (translation: Okay, but just be careful, Whirl.)" Fang says. "Poli! (translation: I will!)" Poliwhirl says. Fang goes over to me after noticing that I was listening in. "Gyar." Fang says. "Looks like you're coming with me, Hydro, and Dig-Dig, huh, Fang?" I ask him. "Gyara!" Fang says. "Alright, Pokeball, go!" I said, and I threw a Pokeball at Fang, catching him. "Alright! I've caught both a Diglett and a Gyarados today!" I said. I decided to keep Fang's name the same, since he would probably get confused if I called him something else. Now, on to Pewter City, cause, unlike my rival (Firey) and that dumb-luck noob (Woody), I know my way there already!

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

After a long walk, I finally reached Pewter City! And there's no sign of that fireball or the chunk of wood anywhere, so I got here first! Way to go, me! Okay, no time to get distracted, Coiny! I ran to the Pokemon Center to heal my 3 Pokemon before heading over to the gym. Brock only uses Geodude and Onix, so with Hydro and Fang, I should be fine! Dig-Dig, not so much, since Ground type moves are only strong against both of them's Rock typing.I head into the gym, and easily take down the gym trainer with just Hydro alone, allowing me to get to Brock. Seriously, though, who confuses light years for regular years? Light years are the distance that light travels in one year, while regular years are the time taken by the earth to make one revolution around the sun. How dumb can that gym trainer be? Anyways, back to the topic of Brock, who had already sent out Geodude... geez, I was so lost in my thoughts, I wasn't focused on what was happening right in front of me.

"Are you gonna send out your Pokemon or what?" Brock asks. I could tell that he was getting a little impatient with me, so I finally sent out Hydro! "Hydro, let's go!" I said. At least, I had thought I was sending out Hydro, but when the Pokemon exited the ball, it wasn't Hydro, it was actually Dig-Dig. "Diglett?" Dig-Dig asks. "Uh... who names their Diglett Hydro?" Brock asks. "Er... th-that's not the Pokemon I meant to send out! Return, Dig-Dig!" I said, and Dig-Dig returns to his Pokeball. I took out my second Pokeball. "Come on out, Hydro!" I said. But this time, it was Fang. "Gyara!" Fang says. "Now that's more like it!" Brock says. "Well, yeah, but my Gyarados is also not the Pokemon I meant to send out. Return, Fang!" I said. I was planning to save Fang for Onix, so I had to return him too. Okay, third time's the charm! I grabbed my third Pokeball. "Hydro, come on out!" I said. Finally the Pokemon that came out was Hydro! "Squirtle!" Hydro says. "Finally! There you are, Hydro! Geez, with three Pokemon now, it's hard to keep track of which Pokeball holds which!" I said. "Squirtle, tle!" Hydro says. "Hydro, use Water Gun!" I said. "Tle!" Hydro says, and he hits the Geodude with his water blast, but it survives on 1 HP. Darn you, Sturdy ability! Now, it was Geodude's turn. And what move does Brock decide to use? Tackle, of all things. "Ha! That barely did anything! Hydro, finish it off with another Water Gun!" I said. Hydro does so, and Brock returns it. A holo-message (holo-messages are the text boxes that appear when you defeat a trainer's Pokemon, and they have more than one) appears in front of me, saying 'Brock is about to send out Onix, switch Pokemon?' I click yes, and pick Fang. I returned Hydro, and send my Gyarados back out, while Brock sent out Onix. "Gyara!" Fang says. "Nix!" Onix says. It's sea serpent vs rock serpent, and I pretty much know who will win this fight. "Ah, I see. So you were saving your Gyarados for Onix, huh?" Brock asks. "Yep! Fang, use Aqua Tail!" I said. "Gyara!" Fang says, and he hits Onix with his now water-ified tail. Another Aqua Tail later, and Onix is down, getting me the Boulder badge!

Welp, time to run to the Pokemon Center! After healing up my Pokemon, I go back to the gym to see if either Firey or Woody had taken on the gym yet. Right when I got there, I see Firey exiting the gym, Boulder badge in hand. Oh, it just had to be the fireball, didn't it? Firey sees me, and I just gave him a mischievous grin. *to self* Stay calm, Coiny! Don't let him see your nervousness!

“So, I see you took down Brock. What a surprise since you have just your Charmander.” I said. Firey glares at me in response. “Don’t diss on Blaze like that! Plus, I’ve gotten a new member to my team since last time we saw each other!” Firey says. I guess we're gonna battle now. Well, not now-now, because Firey has to heal his Pokemon after the gym, but still! I'd rather not reveal Fang and Dig-Dig just yet at the moment. After Firey gets his Pokemon healed, we get ready for battle. How I've longed for this battle! "Go, Hydro!" I said. Hydro comes out. "Squirtle!" Hydro says. Firey grins after he sees Hydro being sent out. "Let's go, Bud!" Firey says. The Pokemon sent out from his Pokeball is... a Maractus?! How did one of those end up in Kanto?!

"Maract!" the Maractus, apparently known as Bud, says. Why am I even questioning this? I met 2 Gyaradoses, a Diglett, and a Poliwhirl on one of the first routes! "Spiky Shield!" Firey says. This is a move I never heard of before, but it seemed to be a shield move. "Tackle!" I said. Hydro tries to Tackle the Maractus' shield, but he gets hurt by contact. What the heck?! “Ha, do you know nothing about Spiky Shield? It hurts any opponent that makes a direct attack!” Firey says. "Dang it!" I said. Grr... Of course he'd make a move like that first turn! "Use Mega Drain!" Firey says. The Maractus drains out Hydro's HP, making him faint. "Hydro, return!" I said. I ran to the Pokemon Center, shouting to the fireball while doing so: "THIS ISN'T THE LAST YOU'LL SEE OF ME!" "I'M COUNTING ON IT!" I hear him shout back. I didn't want him to find out about Fang and Dig-Dig. Not yet, at least. I enter the Pokemon Center, and hand my three Pokeballs to Nurse Joy, before sitting down on a nearby couch. I see Firey enter not long after I had sat down. Thankfully, he hasn't seen me yet, but, he seems to not be happy. Why do I wanna ask why?

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

Eventually, Firey does see me, but I had looked down at a book, pretending not to have noticed him come in, and then looked up at him. Okay, I'm just gonna ask him, cause I am a bit concerned for some reason. “What happened? You seem upset, even though you just beat me in that battle.” I said, in a softer tone than I spoke in earlier. He sits down next to me, and the room suddenly gets hotter, but that's probably only because of how close our seats are to one another. “Some strange object with a Flareon attacked Bud in a spot where the Spiky Shield didn’t protect it.” Firey says. That kinda sounds like what had happened to me, Hydro, and shiny Gyarados earlier. “Did this object happen to be wearing a black and purple uniform with a strange matching mask?” I ask him. Firey nods in response. “The same thing happened to me and Hydro. Well, except the object had a Jolteon with them.” I said. I didn't mention Fang, because I didn't wanna let Firey know about him. “I guess we have a common enemy then, huh?” Firey asks. “I guess so.” I answered. "Truce?" Firey asks me. Should I say okay to this truce? I mean, we're rivals, but, having an ally would be nice, and we do have a common enemy, so I guess I'll make a truce with him. "Sure. For now at least." I said. "That we can both agree on!" Firey says, and we shake hands to represent our temporary truce.

Soon, our Pokemon are returned to us. I was, thankfully, able to hide Fang and Dig-Dig's Pokeballs before Firey could see them. “You, Blaze, and Bud be careful out there!” I said. "Same to you and Hydro." Firey says. We leave the Pokemon Center, and go our separate ways, knowing that we’d see and battle each other again another day. Today, we’ll just let our Pokemon rest for the rest of the day.

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

After a long while of training, Hydro finally evolved into a Wartortle!

"Wart!" Hydro says. "Yeah! Way to go, Hydro! I'm sure that dumb fireball and that darn plank of wood haven't even evolved their starters yet!" I said, laughing, but my laugh is short lived, but I don't know why. "Wartor?" Hydro asks. "I-I'm fine, Hydro. No need to worry!" I said. Why do I feel bad now when I pick on Firey, even if he's not around? It's been this way ever since we made that truce! He's my rival, I shouldn't care how he feels! And yet, here I am feeling bad about saying bad stuff about him. What is wrong with me?! "Eev?" asks a voice. "Wart?" Hydro asks. We turn, and see a male Eevee beside us.

"An Eevee!" I said. "Wartort!" Hydro says. Well, I had wanted to catch a Jolteon, but it's pre-evo will have to do, at least until I find a Thunder Stone to evolve it. But, then, suddenly, a Thunder Stone hits the Eevee, (the one who threw the Thunder Stone will be revealed in a future story of this time line.) causing it to evolve into a Jolteon.

Huh, that was way easier than me just finding one myself! "*annoyed* Jolte?! (translation: Okay, who threw that at me?!)" Jolteon asks. I returned Hydro to his Pokeball, cause Jolteon seemed really upset at whoever threw that Thunder Stone. It'd better not have been Firey! Er, not that I care about him, or anything! Jolteon sees me, and starts growling. "Woah, boy! Calm down, I'm not the one who threw it! I swear!" I said. "Teon!" Jolteon says. I closed my eyes braced for impact, but, suddenly, I hear something fall to the ground, and heard a click. I look down, and see one of my Pokeballs on the ground where the Jolteon stood. A halo-message appeared soon after, asking if I wanted to give Jolteon a nickname. I clicked yes, and named him Spark, because it really seemed to suit him. I wondered how the Pokeball had been thrown at Jolteon. I didn't grab it at any point. I notice that Hydro's Pokeball is lighter. I look to my left, and see Hydro. "Hydro!" I said. "Wartort!" Hydro says. I guess we have a new teammate now! And good timing, too, because I would soon be taking on the Water type gym!

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

I was wandering around the forest, when I heard a Pokemon battle. I turn, and see Firey, Woody, a Charmeleon, and Woody's Bulbasaur. So Blaze did evolve as well, huh? Well, at least Blaze and Hydro evolved before Bulbasaur. And, just as I thought that, the Bulbasaur evolves into Ivysaur.

Welp, better late than nev- I hear leaves rustling beside me, and look to see that Hydro has accidentally bumped his tail into the bush. "Hydro, shush!" I said. Turns out, Firey and Woody probably heard me say that. "Coiny?" Firey asks. "Wah wah?" Woody asks. Me and Hydro step out of the bushes. "Thanks a lot, Hydro. You gave us away!" I said sarcastically. "Wartortle." Hydro says apologetically. “Wait, Hydro evolved?! Also, were you two watching/spying on us?” Firey asks me. I didn't really know how to answer the second question. I mean, we were watching them, but not spying on them! Also, are these two traveling together now or something? “To answer your first question, yes, and for your second, yes and no?” I said. “What do you mean yes and no?” Firey asks me. “Yes, we were watching you, but no, we were not spying on you! We have a temporary truce, remember?” I said. “Oh, yeah. I almost forgot about that.” Firey says. I started getting mad by this point. “You’re the one who asked for the temporary truce, dum dum!” I said. “Touche, dumb coin.” Firey says. “Wah wah!” Woody says. “Char!” “Ivy!” “Wart!” all 3 starters say in unison. It's time that I ask about what the plank of wood is even doing here. “What is Woody doing here?” I ask. “He’s my traveling companion, unfortunately.” Firey says. “Wow. I’d hate to be in your position!” I said. “At least I can beat him in battle!” Firey says. He only beat me because Bulbasaur already knew Vine Whip! “Him and Bulbasaur caught me off guard back then!” I said. “Excuses, excuses!” Firey says. I've had enough of this. Me and Hydro are out of here. “Come on, Hydro. We know when we’re not wanted.” I said. Hydro follows me, but not without a sad expression on his face. I slightly hear Firey shouting something to me, but I just ignore it. When we're far away from Firey and Woody, I turn to Hydro, who looks at me, still having the same sad face. "Don't give me that look, Hydro! We don't need them! We can handle things by ourselves!" I said. "Oh, really?" says a familiar voice. Me and Hydro turn, and see the masked object from before, and his Jolteon, alongside a Flareon and Vaporeon!

Okay, those two are new. The object's Jolteon takes down Hydro, and I return him, and send out Fang and Dig-Dig! "Gyara!" Fang says. "Diglett!" Dig-Dig says. I hear footsteps quickly running over, and I think might I have an idea whose footsteps those are.

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

Just as I had thought, the footsteps belonged to Firey. He sees the object, the Kanto Eeveelutions, and Dig-Dig and Fang. “Coiny! Need some help?” Firey asks. I turn to him, glaring. “Why did you follow me?! I don’t need your help.” I ask him. He probably has noticed that I'm clearly still upset about earlier. “I’d recognize that Flareon anywhere! It’s the same one that attacked me and Bud!” Firey says. Wait, if he recognizes the Flareon, that means the object with the Flareon that attacked him and Bud was the same object that attacked me and Hydro before! "Same goes with the Jolteon, it’s the same one that attacked me and Hydro.” I said. I didn't want to mention Fang's shiny Gyarados friend. “Which means the object that attacked us was the same one!” me and Firey said together. Woody, Ivysaur, and Blaze run over. “Wah, wah!” Woody says. “Good, we could use your help!” Firey says. Firey sends out Bud, who he tells to help Woody and Ivysaur against the Vaporeon. Me and Fang will deal with Flareon. Blaze runs over to Firey, and I tell Dig-Dig to help Firey and Blaze deal with Jolteon. I used Dig-Dig to take down Jolteon last time, so it should be easy. Flareon and Jolteon get taken down, while Woody’s having troubles with Vaporeon, cause Bud doesn’t seem to want to listen to him, but that’s probably because it probably can’t understand him, unlike Ivysaur. “Bud! Use Spiky Shield!” Firey says. Bud does as told, and sets up the spiky barrier. "Blaze, return!" Firey says, and Blaze returns to his Pokeball. "You too, Dig-Dig! Get some good rest!" I said, and Dig-Dig also returns to his Pokeball. I take out my 4th Pokeball. Let's hope Spark is in a good enough mood to battle this guy! "What the?" Firey asks. "Wah wah?" Woody asks. I exhale, and throw the Pokeball. "Let's go, Spark!" I said. Spark comes out of the Pokeball, seemingly calmer than before, with a determined look on his face.

"Jolte!" Spark says. Phew, looks like Spark's no longer as angry as he was earlier. “You have your own Jolteon?!” Firey asks me. “I kinda got inspired to catch one after that attack from this guy’s Jolteon.” I said. “Jolte!” Spark says. “Ah.” Firey says. “Wah wah!” Woody says. “Ivy!” Ivysaur says, and it uses Vine Whip, which Vaporeon dodges. Okay, now to test if Spark will actually listen to me. "Spark, use Thunderbolt!" I said. "Jolteon!" Spark says, and he uses Thunderbolt, fainting the Vaporeon. Yeah! Spark trusts me now! "Way to go, Spark!" I said to my Jolteon, but not loud enough for Firey and Woody to hear. “Team Shadow isn’t gonna give up! We will take you guys down!” the object says after returning Vaporeon, and they run off. “Team Shadow, huh?” I ask. “Looks like the three of us work better together! How about you travel with us, Coiny?” Firey asks me. "Wah wah!" Woody says, agreeing with the fireball. I think for a bit. Sticking around with these two might not be a bad idea, now that I think about it. “I guess, but you better not treat me just like a rival like that again, Firey!” I said, teasing the fireball. “No promises!” Firey says, and he holds his fist out to me. We fist bump. "Wah wah!" Woody says.

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

It's time to take on Misty! I decided to go on ahead of the other two, since I already knew my way to Cerulean City. I soon enter the city. I ran to the Pokemon Center, and healed my 4 Pokemon. I had labeled my Pokeballs before-hand this time so I don't make the same mistake I did in Pewter City, as in taking a while to find the right Pokeball containing the one I want to send out.(Inside the gym)After defeating the gym trainers easily with Spark, it was finally time to take on Misty! After healing, of course. (after healing) Okay, now it's time to battle Misty! I send out Spark, and Misty sends out Staryu. Heh. It should be easy pray for me and Spark! "Spark, use Thunderbolt!" I said, but Spark falls asleep. "Uh... Spark! Now's not the time for sleeping!" I said. I guess he isn't as obedient as I thought he was... "*laughs* Wow, that's disappointing! Now it's our turn!" Misty says. Darn it! I hate that she's right... She tells Staryu to use Rain Dance, and the rain comes up. Spark's ear twitches when a raindrop lands on it. I gasp in shock when Spark stands back up. "Jolt!" Spark says. "Spark! You're up!" I said. "Teon!" Spark says. "Alright, Spark! Use Thunder!" I said. "Jolteon!" Spark says, and a thunderbolt comes down from the rain clouds, striking and fainting Misty's Staryu. "Staryu, return! Go, Starmie!" Misty says. Misty's Starmie comes out next. "Mie!" Starmie says. Oh, I see. Misty had Staryu set up Rain Dance for Starmie! "Spark, use Thunder, again!" I said. "Jolteon!" Spark says, but instead of Thunder, it bites Starmie with electrified teeth.

"Starm!" Starmie says. "What the?!" I ask. "That's Thunder Fang!" Misty says. "Alright, Spark! You learned Thunder Fang!" I said. "Jolte!" Spark says. Starmie sets up a Light Screen. Unluckily for Misty, Thunder Fang, from what I learned, is a physical move, and Light Screen reduces damage from special moves! "Spark, use Thunder Fang again!" I said. "Jolteon!" Spark says. And with that second Thunder Fang, Starmie is taken down, and I get the Cascade badge.(outside the gym)I head to the Pokemon Center, and hand my Pokeballs to the Nurse Joy. When I turn around, I see Firey and Woody enter the Pokemon Center. Right... I almost forgot that I'm traveling with them now. They look shocked to see me. Okay, act calm Coiny, pretend you didn't almost forget about them while in the gym! "There you two are!" I said. Firey's the first to snap out of their shocked phase, and looks at me with a confused look. “Coiny, what are you doing here?” Firey asks me. “I already got my second gym badge!” I said. "Well, dang." Firey says. "Wah wah!" Woody says after he snaps out of his shocked phase. I wonder why they're here instead of going to the gym, so I decided to act about it. “What are you two doing here? Shouldn’t you be heading to the gym?” I ask them. “Yeah, but we had to take on a few battles along the way.” Firey says, blushing in embarrassment. He's kinda cute when he's embarrassed. Why did I just think that? Anyways, why am I not surprised that they had to take on a few battles on the way here? "Wow." I said sarcastically. "Shut up, dumb coin!" Firey says. "You shut up, you dumb fireball!" I said. "Wah wah!" Woody says, stopping me and Firey before we could have another fight. Firey calms down. "You're right, Woody, we should hurry." Firey says. The two's Pokemon get healed, and are returned to them, along side my four Pokemon to me. Firey and Woody already left, but I decided to say a quick "Thank you!" to Nurse Joy before exiting the Pokemon Center.(by the gym)When I arrive back at Misty's gym, I see only Woody outside. I had decided to borrow a book from the Pokemon Center because it might take Firey a while in there. I go over to the plank of wood. "Hey Woody." I said. "Wah wah!" Woody says. "So, Firey already went into the gym, huh?" I said. Woody nods in confirmation. "Here's hoping Misty's Starmie's Light Screen doesn't cause him and Bud any problems! N-not that I'm worried about him or his safety, of course." I said. Holy smokes. Do I have a crush on Firey? Is that why I've been acting so weird around him post-truce? Nah, that's probably not it. At least I hope it's not it! He's my rival! Sure, we're becoming friends, but we're rivals first! I can't fall for my rival, right?! But then again... I decided to just read the book. Woody told me that he nicknamed his Ivysaur 'Sprout'. I guess that suits it.Later, I hear Woody shout to me. "Wah wah!" Woody says. I look up from my book and see Firey has exited the gym. "So, how did it go?" I ask. Firey shows us his Cascade badge. “With Bud, it was easy peasy!” Firey says. “Good to hear. N-not that I was worried that you’d lose or anything.” I said, and I hide the blush appearing on my cheeks with the book. Okay, yep, I definitely have a crush on Firey. “Good luck, Woody!” Firey says. “Waaaaaaaaah!” Woody screams after remembering that his battle against Misty is next. “Oh, calm down. Misty’s not that hard to take down.” I said, trying to reassure the plank of wood. “You’re not being very helpful, dumb Coiny.” Firey says. Well, at least I'm trying! You're not doing anything to comfort him, fireball! “Shut up, dumb Firey!” I said, and I take the book away from my face, revealing my glare. We see Woody nervously enter the gym. Suddenly, a ninja star flies at us, just barely missing me! Jeez, that was frightening! Boy am I glad I'm not hyperventilating right now! “What the?” I ask. Who the heck even threw this shuriken?! I take it out of the gym's wall. I'm sure Misty wouldn't want a shuriken stuck in her gym's wall outside. We look upwards from where the shuriken was thrown, and see a familiar-shaped object, who's wearing a Team Shadow uniform, but, like, a ninja version of it? Anyways, the object was on top of a tall building nearby. Firey's the first one to recognize the object. "Teardrop?" Firey asks. The object drops down from the building, and lands on her feat, revealing that it is Teardrop, but her eyes are deep red. “TD, what happened to you?” I ask her. She then throws yet another shuriken at me, but I manage to dodge it. Jeez louse! I nearly got hit by TD's shurikens twice! I pull the shuriken out of the wall. “Phew! That was close!” I said. TD then throws one at Firey, which he doesn't dodge, and it goes right through him, and comes out on the other side as a pile of ashes. Me and TD both look down at the shuriken-turned-ash in surprise. “I don’t even need to dodge!” Firey brags. Though he probably didn't mean it as bragging, but it sounded like bragging to me. "Lucky." I said. Woody exits the gym, and a ninja star is thrown right into his forehead. “Wah!” Woody says, scared. Teardrop sees Woody, and leaps away. Firey sees the Cascade badge that Woody dropped, while I give him a 'bruh' look because he hasn't noticed the shuriken stuck in Woody's forehead. “Oh, hey, he beat Misty. I knew you could do- *sees the ninja star in Woody’s forehead* Oh.” Firey says. I glare at him, while Woody whimpers. “Yeah, we’d… better get that out of your forehead.” Firey says. Me and Firey gently pull the ninja star out of Woody’s forehead, and he yelps. “There we go!” Firey says. I put a band-aid on Woody's injury, and look over to where TD was. “Wonder why Teardrop attacked us like that, and then leaped away when Woody came out? After throwing a ninja star straight into his forehead, of course.” I ask. “I don’t know, but something seemed off about her, especially since she was wearing a ninja Team Shadow uniform.” Firey says. “You make a point there, fireball. That was pretty strange.” I said. "Wah wah!" Woody says. “Woody’s right, her eyes also looked different!” Firey says. “Could that not have been our Teardrop?” I ask. "No, it was definitely her. Others of her species talk a lot, and I didn’t even hear a peep out of her! Would explain why the head of Team Shadow made her a ninja.” Firey says. “Hm, then maybe she was put under some kind of spell by Team Shadow.” I said. “And if she was affected, maybe our other friends might be, too!” Firey says. “Wah wah!” Woody says. “Yeah, Woody, I sure hope that isn’t the case, too.” Firey says. “Same.” I said.

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

Next up was the Electric type gym, and Firey and Woody were nervous, because neither of them had a Ground type, unlike me and Dig-Dig. Not to mention, Woody’s only Pokemon is Sprout, so, yeah, that’s an issue. We go onto a route, and Firey finds a Sandslash being attacked by Teardrop.

“TD! Leave that poor Sandslash alone!” Firey says. Me and Woody catch up, and we see the issue.

“Wah wah!” Woody says. Teardrop silently sends out her Greninja, which is also silent.

I am upset by the appearance of said Greninja. Great. First a Maractus, and now a Greninja? What's next? A Noctowl? Just kidding, of course. But how did they even get here? “Yet another Pokemon not native to Kanto.” I said, looking at Firey when I said the ‘not native to Kanto’ part. “I have no idea how Bud got here, okay?!” Firey asks. I just roll my eyes in response. “Let’s go, Bud!” Firey says. “Marac!” Bud says. “Go, Spark!” I said. “Jolte!” Spark says. “Wah wah!” Woody says. Instead of Sprout coming out, it’s an Electivire.

“Electi!” Electivire says. Me and Firey are both confused. “What the?” Firey asks Woody. I am too shocked to speak. “Wah wah!” Woody says. “Oh, you got Electivire via trade, and it’s nickname is Bolt. Got it.” Firey says. Bolt the Electivire, huh? I guess that's a good name for it. TD’s Greninja Shadow Balls Bolt straight in the chest. “Elect!” Bolt says. “Wah wah!” Woody says, worryingly. “Vire!” Bolt says in response. Woody lets out a sigh of relief, and then sends out Sprout. “Ivysaur!” Sprout says. (post-battle and Teardrop smoke-bombing away) Sprout starts evolving. I see this. “*gasps* Guys, Sprout’s evolving!” I said. Firey and Woody look over, and see Sprout's glowing blue, causing them both to gasp in shock. (Sprout evolves into Venusaur.)

“Venusaur!” Sprout says. “Wah wah!” Woody says to his starter. “Venu!” Sprout says. I am frustrated by the fact that Sprout evolved first! I mean, I know Ivysaur evolves into Venusaur 4 levels earlier than Wartortle into Blastoise and Charmeleon into Charizard, but it still isn't fair! “*groans* I can’t believe Woody’s starter became fully evolved before ours, Firey!” I said. “You and me both, Coiny.” Firey says. “Wah wah!” Woody says. Firey had caught the Sandslash mid-battle, and nicknamed it Sorin, for no reason.
We return our Pokemon to their Pokeballs, and heal up at a nearby Pokemon Center.Sorin had decided to stay with us, but it seemed to be wanting to be on my team more then Firey's. I wonder why? Firey caught Sorin, so why would it want to be on my team? “Hey, Coiny?” Firey asks me. I look over to the fireball. “Huh? What is it, Firey?” I ask him. “How about we trade Ground types? After all, Sorin seems to like you more, and you did say you wanted a stronger Ground type then Dig-Dig.” Firey says. He was right, but why does he want to trade Sorin for Dig-Dig of all of my 4 Pokemon? “I mean, yeah, but, why Dig-Dig? Why not Hydro, Fang, or Spark?” I ask him. “Well, 1, Hydro and Blaze don’t get along that well.” Firey says. He's got a point there. "True." I said. “Plus, I wouldn’t want to separate the two of you. 2, Fang’s a bit too overpowered for me. 3, you caught Spark because of your encounter with that object with the 3 Kanto Eeveelutions, so I wouldn’t want to separate it from you either, and 4, during that triple battle against said object with the three Kanto Eeveelutions, me and Dig-Dig bonded.” Firey says. I think about it for a bit. A Sandslash could be useful. Okay, I'll go ahead with the trade! “Well, o-ok. I guess.” I said. Why did I say that so nervously? We make the trade, Dig-Dig becoming a part of Firey's team, and Sorin becoming a part of my team. Firey notices Teardrop in the corner of his eye, but she was wearing a different ninja out, being black and blue instead of black and purple, and her eyes being back to their regular black selves.

"Teardrop?" Firey asks. Me and Woody turn, and see her too. Teardrop sees us, and blushes in embarrassment, which Firey can barely see since her ninja mask is covering her face, but it’s definitely there. “Your eyes are back to normal, and you're wearing a different ninja outfit. Does that mean you’re no longer under Team Shadow’s spell and back on our side?" I ask her. TD nods in response to my question. “Wah wah!” Woody says, and he runs to Teardrop and hugs her. She freezes before hugging him back. After the hug, Teardrop points to her forehead, which I’m guessing is her way of asking Woody how his forehead doing, since she had thrown a shuriken straight into it. “Wah wah! (translation: Still hurts a little bit, but not as much now!)” Woody says. Teardrop seems to be relieved by this. “Hey, TD, now that you’re back on our side, do you wanna travel alongside the three of us?” Firey asks. She thinks for a moment, and then nods. “Welcome aboard, then, Teardrop!” Firey says. Greninja’s Pokeball is returned to Teardrop. Firey gives Teardrop a notepad to write what she wants to say on it, and she takes it, and writes “My Greninja’s name is Dash.” “Oh, so it’s nickname is Dash! That’s a fitting name for a Greninja!” Firey says. Teardrop nods in agreement. How did Firey even get a notepad without burning it?

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

I decided to join the other 3 on the walk to Vermilion City, because unlike Pewter and Cerulean, I didn't already know my way here. When we reached the gym, we see a Cut tree blocking the way. Aw man! I knew I had forgotten something! “Oh, man! I forgot that we need the H.M. Cut!” I said. “Okay, so how do we get it?” Firey asks. I know for sure he's not gonna like the answer, more specifically, where it is. But we need the Cut H.M. to get into the gym, poison or not! “You’re not gonna like the answer, Firey. Or more specifically, where the answer is.” I said. He's gonna probably be scared when I tell him. And he already looks afraid just by the worried look on his cute, dumb face. “And that is?” Firey asks nervously. I decided not to say it, but point to it, so I point over to the S.S. Anne which is docked nearby.

“I was afraid that was what you meant.” Firey says. Firey shivers in fear, and TD slaps him back into consciousness. “Ow. Thanks, Teardrop. I needed that.” Firey says. Teardrop gives Firey a thumbs up. “Don’t worry, it’s not like you’ll be in the water. Would it help if I held your hand?” I ask rather shyly, blushing slightly. Firey nods, also slightly blushing, and I take his hand with mine, and the 4 of us go onto the S.S. Anne.“If I remember correctly, we get the H.M. from the captain of the ship.” I said, not noticing that I'm still holding Firey's hand, while also looking away from him. We see Rocky in the distance.

“Hey Rocky!” I said. Rocky barfs on me and Firey in response. I wipe the barf off myself, while the barf on Firey just burns off him. “Okay, you should’ve seen that coming, Coiny.” Firey says. “You got barfed on too, idiot!” I said. “You’re the idiot here!” Firey says, and we finally make eye contact, but I instantly looked away from him because of how close our faces were. Me and Firey see Woody's face is starting to turn green while TD is trying to pat him on the back. “Woody, now is not the time to get sea sick!” Firey says. “Says you, mr. afraid of water!” I said. “Shut up, you!” Firey says, and he almost starts up a one-armed slap fight with me, which I join in, with both of us slapping one another with our free hand. Teardrop and Woody stop us before we could have a slap fight. Also, I got the S.S. Anne ticket from an old friend of mine named Bill. We head into the Captain's area, and see that he is also seasick. "Oh, great. Woody's not the only one who's getting seasick!" Firey says. "Firey, be nice! This is how we get the HM!" I said. I rub the captain's back, and he hands us each a Cut HM. Firey teaches Cut to Blaze, I teach it to Sorin, Woody doesn’t have any Pokemon to teach it to, so he just keeps it on him, and TD teaches it to Dash. Why do I have a feeling that Woody does have a Pokemon that can learn Cut? Oh well, no time for that! Teardrop goes to a previous route so she can get more Pokemon to take on Lt. Surge, and Woody joins her, both for that, and to find a Pokemon that can learn Cut, while me and Firey head straight to the gym. When we get off the S.S. Anne, I finally let go of Firey's hand. I ran up ahead to the gym. “Come on, Firey! We got some Electric types to beat up!” I said. “R-right!” Firey said, and Firey follows me to the gym, and we cut down the tree.

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

I decided to let Firey take on the gym first, saying that it was because he has the weaker Ground type. In reality, I let him go first this time just to be nice. Plus, I got a bit tired of taking on the gym first, so I'll allow Firey to go first... this time. I decided to set a timer when Firey entered the gym for no reason.(35 minutes later)After 35 minutes of waiting, I see a Charizard flying out of the gym.

"What the heck?!" I ask. Where did this Charizard come from?! Why did it come out of the gym?! Where's Fire- I see Firey exit the gym a few seconds after the Charizard did. I stopped the timer. “Firey! A little help? This Charizard came out of nowhere!” I said to him. Firey sees the Charizard, and glares at it. “Blaze, come here this instant!” Firey says, and the Charizard lands in front of Firey. I am shocked by what I'm seeing. Blaze evolved?! What the heck?! Also, am I hyperventilating right now?! “T-that’s Blaze?!” I ask, bewildered by Firey's now fully-evolved starter. “Yep, and it’s not the only one who evolved inside the gym! Let’s go, Dig-Dig!” Firey says. Dig-Dig, now as a Dugtrio, comes out right in front of me.

"Dugtri!" Dig-Dig says. “Dig-Dig evolved too?!” I ask, and I kneel down, and pet my now-evolved ex-Pokemon on it’s middle head, which Dig-Dig reciprocates. “I also got the badge!” Firey says, and he shows me his Thunder badge. “That’s awesome, Firey! Boy am I glad I let you go first this time around.” I said. “Why did you let me go first, anyways?” Firey asks. I guess it's time to tell the fireball in front of me the actual truth. “Well, I felt bad for beating the last 2 gyms before you even got there both times, so I decided to let you go first this time around!” I said. “Well, thanks, I guess. You go take on Surge! I’ll be heading to the Pokemon Center to heal up my Pokemon. Good luck!” Firey says, and he pats me on the back. "Thanks." I said, and I enter the gym.(Inside the gym)

Holy smokes, that's a lot of trash cans! Okay, if I remember correctly, 2 of these trash cans have a switch in them, the second one being next to the first. Let's hope I can remember- When I went to the first row of trash cans, I accidentally got the attention of the first gym trainer. After taking them down, I searched the cans, and neither of them had a switch.(7 hours later)After... I don't know how many hours, I finally found the two switches. I don't know how long I took to find these two because I had dropped my timer. Anyways, onto the battle with Surge! He sends out Voltorb, and I send out Sorin. "Volt!" Voltorb says. "Sands!" Sorin says. "So you're the friend that the fireball mentioned, the one who was originally Dig-Dig's trainer." Lt. Surge says. Firey thinks of me as his friend? "Y-Yeah, that's me alright." I said. "You really gotta work on your nicknames for your Pokemon." Lt. Surge says. "Yeah, I get that a lot..." I said. Firey told Lt. Surge to tell his nickname complaints to me, didn't he? Voltorb quickly gets taken down, and out comes Raichu, who is also quickly defeated, earning me the Thunder badge. I exited the gym.(outside the gym)When I exited the gym, I noticed that it was night time. I look around for Firey, Woody, and Teardrop. “Hey guys, I finally took down- *sees the 3 of us have fallen asleep* Aw.” I said. Firey's kinda cute when he's asleep. Too bad I have to ruin it. I shake Firey. "Wake up, Firey." I said. Firey eventually wakes up, and sees me. "Coiny!" Firey says, and he hugs me. I'm a bit shocked by the hug, but I eventually hug him back. After the hug, I decide to ask Firey how long I was in the gym. "How long was I in there for?" I ask. "7 hours." Firey says. "7- 7 hours?!" I ask. Firey nods in confirmation. We hear an ahem nearby. We see the object with the 3 Eeveelutions not too far from us, but they’re no longer in their disguise, revealing themself to be…

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

"Gelatin?" Firey asks the green, jiggly object in front of us.

“The one and only! Long time no see, Firey and Coiny! Well, other then the 3 times I tried to relentlessly attack you, but I wasn’t in control of myself, so that’s Team Shadow’s fault, not mine!” Gelatin says. Me and Firey run over and hug Gelatin. After the hug, Gelatin notices the sleeping Woody and Teardrop. “Uh, are they?” Gelatin asks. “No, they’re not dead. They had fallen asleep before Coiny got out of the gym and woke me up, and before you even got here.” Firey says. Gelatin seems relieved by that. “Oh, thank goodness! I was a bit scared there!” Gelatin says. “We better rest up in the Pokemon Center tonight. All 5 of us need our sleep, especially you, Firey, since I had woken you up. Really sorry about that.” I said, apologizing to the fireball beside me. “Eh, its fine, I’m just glad Lt. Surge and his team didn’t beat you to a pulp!” Firey says. Oh, brother. This guy and his jokes. “Oh, hardy har har!” I said. We head to the Pokemon Center, Gelatin gently places Woody and Teardrop onto a couch, and chooses his own single-person couch. “I guess that means we’re sleeping together for tonight, huh?” I ask. “Guess so.” Firey says. Firey gets up onto the couch, and I follow soon after, laying on top of him. (the next morning) I was the first one to wake up, so I quickly exited the Pokemon Center to get out of that embarrassing situation. (after reuniting Woody and Teardrop with Gelatin). The gym was closed today, so Woody, Teardrop, and Gelatin can’t take it on today, especially since Gelatin’s only 3 Pokemon are his Kanto Eeveelutions, also Gelatin gave his Jolteon a scarf to differentiate his Jolteon from Spark. Gelatin soon becomes another of our traveling companions.

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

(After Woody, Teardrop, and Gelatin took each down Lt. Surge the next day) I see something small, blue, red, and yellow running past us. What was that thing? “What the?” Firey asks. Firey saw it run past, too? “You saw it, too, Firey?” I ask him. Firey nods in response. We see a professor-looking guy not long after the other thing.

“Hey, did you two see a small blue Pokemon run past?” he asks. Wait, if this guy's a professor, that means that Pokemon might've been... a starter Pokemon?! “Yeah, it went that way.” I said, pointing in the direction of where it went. Firey shivers in fear. “Wait, you’re a Pokemon professor, aren’t you?” Firey asks. “Yep, Professor Elm’s the name, and I came here from Johto.” he says. “That means that that blue Pokemon that ran past was… *gulp* The Johto Water type starter?” Firey asks. Elm nods in agreement. “Yep, and it’s name is Totodile. It’s gone pretty crazy after Chikorita and Cyndaquil got their trainers last week. I could use some help catching it.” Elm says. Despite Firey's fear of water, I wanna help where I can! “We can help!” I said. Firey's expression becomes more scared. “I don’t know…” Firey says, unsure. I decided to try to reassure the fireball the best I can. “Firey, I know you’re scared of water, but you’re gonna have to face your fears eventually!” I said. Woody, Teardrop, and Gelatin rejoin us. “You can count on us to help you find Totodile!” Gelatin says. Woody and Teardrop nod in agreement. “So I’m the only one against this, huh?” Firey asks. “Toto!” says a voice. We turn around, and see the Totodile behind us.

Suddenly, out of fear, Firey accidentally throws a Pokeball at Totodile, catching it. “Uh-oh.” Firey says. I decided to tease him about this. “Well, looks like you’re going to have to face your fears, anyways, Firey!” I said. “Well, we have to ask Elm about this!” Firey says. Elm picks up the Pokeball containing Totodile, and faces Firey. “I think you could both use the time together as Pokemon and trainer to handle with your problems.” Elm says, and he gives Firey the Pokeball. “Thanks, I guess.” Firey says, sarcastically. Elm leaves, with Firey still holding Totodile’s Pokeball. “Well, you were going to need more than one Pokemon good against Fire types for when you eventually battle Blaine, the other being Dig-Dig, of course.” I said. “Shut up, dumb Coiny!” Firey says. “You shut up, dumb Firey!” I said. We stick out tongues out at one another. Firey nicknames Totodile 'Tsunami'.

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

“There you traitors are!” says a vocalized voice. We turn, and see a red-eyed Puffball flying over us. (Puffball is also wearing a black and purple scarf, representing her being a part of Team Shadow.) “Puffball?” Firey asks. “Scream Tail, go!” Puffball says, and she spits out a Pokeball, (Puffball doesn't have any limbs, so I just made her spit the Pokeball out of her mouth when she sends her partner out) and out comes the weirdest-looking Jigglypuff I’ve ever seen.
“Scream!” the strange Jigglypuff, apparently known as Scream Tail, says. “What kind of Jigglypuff is that?!” Firey asks. “I’ve heard about these types of Pokemon before! They’re called Paradox Pokemon!” Gelatin says. “Paradox?” I ask. I have never heard of that word before! “Scream Tail’s a version of Jigglypuff from the past!” Gelatin says. “Ah. That explains why it’s giving me vampire vibes!” Firey says. Honestly, Scream Tail's giving me vampire vibes, too. “Do any of us have a Pokemon that’s good against Fairy or Psychic types? That, of course, doesn't include Dash, because Fairy types resist Dark type moves, so it would only do neutral damage.” Gelatin asks. Teardrop silently sends out her second Pokemon, that being an mute Excadrill!

Teardrop writes down that it’s nickname is Blade. “Well, nice to meet you, Blade!” Firey says. The Excadrill, known as Blade, just waves back at me with it’s claws. “Well, that works, I guess. That would also explain why you defeated Lt. Surge so quickly!” Gelatin says. Teardrop gives Gelatin a thumbs up in response. I suddenly got a message on my phone, showing what Pokemon can learn Cut, and what surprised me the most was that the whole Bulbasaur line could learn Cut! Aw, jeez! Woody's probably not gonna be happy when I tell him the news! “Huh. I just found out via this message that the Bulbasaur line actually can learn Cut.” I said. “Wah wah!” Woody says, upset. “I know that information would’ve been been helpful earlier, but you already used your HM on your newest team member!” I said. "Wah wah.” Woody says, disappointed by himself. We notice that Teardrop and Blade have already taken down Scream Tail, and Puffball is carrying away ST’s fainted body. “Oh, good job, you two!” Firey says. TD gives Firey a thumbs up, while Blade just smiles.

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

Suddenly, a Blaziken appears, and attacks us.

“A Blaziken?!” Firey asks. TD returns Blade, and sends out Dash. “Hydro, Fang, and Sorin! Come on out!” I said. “Wart!” Hydro says. “Gyar!” Fang says. “Sand!” Sorin says. “Wah wah!” Woody says, and he sends out a Nidorino!

“Nido!” Nidorino says. “And there’s Woody’s Cut user!” I said. “Rin!” Nidorino says. “Wah wah!” Woody says. “Oh, so you named him Tox, huh?” Firey asks. Woody nods. Blaziken instantly tries to attack Firey. I wanna protect him, but it's a bit risky! Suddenly, the Blaziken is blasted back by a blast of water. When Firey looks over to me, I instantly face towards the Blaziken, and not him. Who's water blast was that? “Then who-” Firey asks. “Toto!” says a voice underneath Firey. From the corner of my eye, I see Tsunami standing underneath Firey.

Wait, Tsunami saved him? That's a shocker! “Tsunami? You saved me?” Firey asks. “Totodile!” Tsunami says, and it looks up at Firey with a determined look. Aw, Tsunami's so darn cute! “I guess you’re not as bad as I thought you were!” Firey says. “Dile!” Tsunami says. “Just… don’t aim your water attacks at me. I’d rather not die to my own Pokemon’s attack.” Firey says. “Todile!” Tsunami says. Firey and Tsunami shake hands. Okay, no more being distracted by the cute fireball and his crocodile! “Hydro, use Water Gun! Fang, use Aqua Tail! And Sorin, use Dig!” I said. Sorin digs downwards, and Hydro and Fang use their attacks, with neither of them landing. Blaziken hops out of the way before Sorin resurfaces. “Slash?” Sorin asks in confusion after it leaves the hole. “Sorin! Watch out!” I said. But it was too late. Sorin got punched straight in the face by Blaziken, and fainted. “Oh no! Sorin, return!” I said, and I returned Sorin to its Pokeball. (For those who are wondering where Dig-Dig is, it’s currently roaming around the city) Dash uses Water Shuriken, but it only hits Blaziken twice. Teardrop gives Dash a disappointed look. (Btw, the reason why TD returned Blade is because it’s HP is pretty low after it’s battle with PB and ST, and TD hasn’t went to a Pokemon Center post the battle just yet) “Alright, Tsunami! Use Chilling Water!” Firey says. “Dile!” Tsunami says, and it blasts out cold water, fainting Blaziken. “Ugh!” says a voice. Blaziken is returned to it’s Pokeball, and we see it’s trainer, but only their silhouette. They ran off before we could get a closer look at them. Me, TD, Woody, and Gelatin looked over at Firey and Tsunami with shocked expressions. Did Firey and Tsunami actually just work together?! “What?” Firey asks. “You and Tsunami actually worked together for once!” I said, not even noticing Hydro starting glow behind me. “It saved my life, so I think I can trust it from now on.” Firey says. “Toto!” Tsunami says. That’s a sentence I thought Firey’d never say about a Water type! We notice that now standing in place of where Hydro was, was now a Blastoise.

“Oh, hey, Hydro evolved.” Firey says. “Finally!” I said. “Blast!” Hydro, now as a Blastoise, says. How I've waited for Hydro to evolve!

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

After those two battles, and healing our Pokemon, we finally leave Viridian City. I don’t know how Firey was able to be this close to water for this long. He was also sorta acting differently around me. Why was that? He didn't even ask me to let go of his hand when we were on the S.S. Anne, and that was one of the most embarrassing moments! Why didn't I let go until we got off?! I stop thinking for a bit, and see that Firey has stopped in his tracks for some reason. What is that cute fireball doing now? “Hey, Firey, you coming?” I shouted to him, since he was pretty far behind us. Firey snaps out of his state. “Y-yeah, I’m coming.” Firey says, and he catches up to the four of us. I sigh in relief. This darn fireball's going to be the end of me one of these days! I decided to tease him again. “You really got to stop slowing down, you Slowpoke!” I said. Firey glares at me with a competitive look in his eyes. “I’ll show you who’s a Slowpoke!” Firey says, and he runs past the four of us. Wow. I almost forgot how fast Firey was! But this has just turned into a race! “Oh, so it’s a race now? You’re on!” I said, and I run after him. “Those two are so competitive.” Gelatin says. “Wah wah!” Woody says. Teardrop writes down, “Do you think the reason why Firey slowed down is because he figured out his feelings towards Coiny?” “It’s a high possibility, but let’s not go too crazy in our assumptions.” Gelatin says. “Race you two to the next route!” Gelatin says, and he runs off. “Wah wah!” Woody says, and he and Teardrop run after Gelatin.

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

I am slightly not surprised that Firey won the race, but, hey, I got second, so that's good! TD came in third, Woody in fourth, and poor Gelatin in last. How did TD and Woody even get past Gelatin, anyways? He was in third, but now he's in last. How is that even possible? “*out of breath, to Teardrop and Woody* How… did… you… two… get… past me?!” Gelatin asks. “Wah wah!” Woody says. Teardrop writes down, “You started slowing down, so we were able to run past you, and, since I’m faster than Woody, I came in third.” Just like Gelatin, I was also out of breath. How can Firey run for so long without needing a break?! “No… fair! You were way too fast!” I said. “Actually, that’s how fast I normally go!” Firey says. “How are you not out of breath?!” I ask him. “Us fireballs have a lot of air in our lungs, so we can run a long distance without getting tired.” Firey responds. Ugh, this fireball's lucky he's so darn cute! Firey seems to think for a bit. “You know what, since you came in second, Coiny, I’ll allow you to catch the next wild non-Kanto native Pokemon that we see.” Firey says. Did he just say what I think he just said? H-He's allowing me to catch the next wild non-Kanto native Pokemon we encounter? All because I came in second? “Really?” I ask. He better not be pulling a prank on me! Firey nods in confirmation as a response. Holy smokes, he's not joking around! He's actually going to let me catch the next wild non-Kanto native Pokemon we encounter! Okay, I'm not going to complain about this, cause I felt sorta left out, being one of the only ones of us not having a Pokemon that's not native to Kanto. Hydro, Fang, and Spark are all native to Kanto. Heck, even Sorin's a Kanto native! We see a worm in a caramel apple nearby.

"Dip?" it asks. I've never seen a Pokemon like this thing before! "Who's that Pokemon?" I ask, and I scan it with my Pokedex, which I keep in my backpack. “Dipplin, the Candy Apple Pokemon, a Grass-Dragon type. And an evolved form of Applin. The head sticking out belongs to the fore-wyrm, while the tail belongs to the core-wyrm. The two share one apple and help each other out.” my Pokedex says. Dipplin, huh? I put my Pokedex back into my backpack, and look at the Dipplin. Welp, looks like this is the Pokemon Firey's allowing me to catch! “Well, like I said, this Dipplin’s all yours, Coiny.” Firey says. Okay, let's hope it stays in the first Pokeball! I take a Pokeball out of my backpack, and throw it at the Dipplin, catching it. Phew! That was a bit worrisome! I pick up the Pokeball, and a holo-screen appears in front of me, asking if I wanted to give Dipplin a nickname. I click yes, and it shows that the Dipplin is a... female?! Wow, this is my first female Pokemon! Hydro, Fang, Dig-Dig, Spark, and Sorin are all boys! Also, I know Dig-Dig's no longer my Pokemon, but he's still a male Pokemon that I had! I think for a bit on what to name Dipplin, than I thought back to MandJTV's shiny Hydrapple, Dots. Can't call her Dots, because that would be copying Michael. “I’ll call you Dottie, because you’re a girl.” I said. Okay, time to introduce Dottie to the boys! I take out my other 4 Pokeballs. “Come on out, guys!” I said. All 5 of my Pokemon exit their Pokeballs. “Blast!” Hydro says. “Gyara!” Fang says. “Slash!” Sorin says. “Jolte!” Spark says. “Plin!” Dottie says. The four male Pokemon look at the female Dipplin, and she looks at the 4 of them nervously. Spark and Sorin both try to attack Dottie, but Firey defends her. I had told my male Pokemon to not attack Firey no matter what, so Spark and Sorin stopped in their tracks. “This Dipplin’s your new teammate, so leave her alone!” Firey says. Spark and Sorin step away from Firey and Dottie, and he looks at me with a confused look. “Coiny, what the?” Firey asks. Should I tell him the truth, that I told my Pokemon not to attack him? Nah, I'll just say that sentence, but with my friends at the end. “Uh, well, you see, um… I told my Pokemon not to attack my friends?” I said. Dang it, that sounded more like a question to answer his question than an actual answer! “Anyways, what Firey said is right. Dottie’s one of our team, so treat her with respect, even if she’s the only female on the team! Understood?” I said, while glaring at my male Pokemon. The 4 male Pokemon all nod in response. “Good.” I said, and I return all 5 of my Pokemon to their Pokeballs.
