Work Text
Blaine & Sam walk hand in hand down the beach after a summer of endless surfing.
“Best day ever!” Sam yells, grinning.
Blaine just laughs. “Yeah, it was pretty awesome, huh?”
“Definitely. But summer isn’t over yet. You hear about the waves that are coming in tomorrow. 40 foot tall waves! You know how tall that is?”
“Yea! And those kinds of waves only come once every 30 something years! It’s incredible!” He gushed. Sam gave a affectionate laugh.
“You riding them with me, right?” he pulls Blaine’s hand toward himself to circle the shorters’ shoulders with his own arm.
“Of course.” They gave each other a smile.
Blaine cleared his throat. “Um, Sam listen-”
“Boys! come on in, Dinners ready.” the voice of Blaine’s Grandpa echo’s from the house.
Blaine sighs. “Be right there!” he replies.
“Race ya to the house!” Sam runs to the surf shop/ house while Blaine stands there and eventually runs up there, far behind Sam.
“Well I clearly won.” “Yeah, yeah.”
They leave their surf boards outside the house and step inside. “Tomorrow im thinking we could hit the beach and that awesome surf.” Sam rambles.
“Sam, about tomorrow-” Blaine says, playing with his fingers.
“Wait- do you hear that?” Sam turns, cutting Blaine off.
Sam goes over to Frank, Blaine’s Grandpa, who is watching Wet Side Story, his boyfriend on his heels. “Hey!”
“Hey, what's up bro?” Frank fist bumps Sam.
“I can’t believe you’re watching this without me.” Sam smiles.
“Well, now that you’re here, im not.”
Blaine looks at the tv “Please tell me this isn’t-”
“Wet side story!” they say together, giving each other a high five.”
“That.” Blaine rolls his eyes.
“1962, bikers, surfers, best movie ever made!” Sam grins.
“How can you two like this silliness? Especially you, Grandpa.”
“Well, Bumblebee, this movie right here defined a culture!” Frank argued.
“Exactly! A biker girl and a surfer boy share a secret love while trying to unite the rivaling gangs, while an evil man and a scientist try to steal their hangout by creating a weather machine, which blows up, creating a massive storm! Silly? Really?” Sam turns to Blaine.
Blaine walks toward Sam. “Well, can we watch it later, because I really need to talk to you.” he urges.
Sam wraps a hand around his waist. “Just let me watch my favorite part! Where to two leads look each other in the eye and are pulled apart by the gangs. Then im all yours, yeah?” he squeezes.
“C'mon, they sing for no reason, their hair is always dry, the girls never surf as good as the boys, and they sing for no reason! I said that a second time to make my point.”
“But it's always summer and everyone just sings and surfs.” Sam chuckles.
There's a knock on the door and Blaine leaves Sam’s side to answer it and his Aunt Bea enters, Blaine widening his eyes.
“Surprise. You are so...grown up! You look absolutely- unacceptable!” she says before looking at Blaine “Not you dear.” she turns away for Blaine to see she’s on a phone call. “Tell him the offer is off the table!”
His aunt crosses over to Sam, who walks out the living room near the hall, but is still facing Blaine.
“What are you doing here? I thought you weren't coming till tomorrow..” Blaine asks.
“Well, you thought wrong. We're leaving tomorrow. So you should go pack.”
“Excuse me, what do you mean by "leaving tomorrow?" Sam asks, brows furrowed.
Bea turns around and faces Sam. “And, you are?”
“Um, this is Sam, my boyfriend.” Blaine voices.
“Well Sam, I am Blaine’s Aunt. I'm sure he’s told you all about me.”
Sam just stands with his arms crossed, not looking too pleased. He then turns to Blaine again.
“Blaine, what does she mean by leaving tomorrow?!”
Frank hears the commotion and enters the hallway, standing by Sam. Bea notices his presence and walks to greet him. “Oh, hello Father.”
“Ya know, it's always good to have you here.” he tells her.
Bea crosses over to Blaine.
Sam had enough. “Okay, alright. Blaine, what does she mean by leaving tomorrow?!”
“Sam, as of tomorrow, my nephew is attending the over-priced, and might I say exclusive, Dalton Academy, in Westerville.”
“What?” Sam couldn’t believe what he was hearing. He looks to Blaine for answers but the shorters’ gaze stayed rooted to the floor.
Frank pipes up. “Uh, Bea, we should talk about this, please.”
“There is nothing to talk about. This has always been the deal. Isn't that right, Blaine?”
“Sure. It's just that, um... Tomorrow there are these extreme conditions I've been waiting my entire life to surf-”
“Surf? Oh, sweetheart, your new life begins tomorrow. Your endless Summer, has come to an end.”
****
Sam finds Blaine sitting outside on the steps of the house, a book on his lap, and sits next to him.“I can’t believe you didn’t tell me.” he scolds.Blaine fidgets with the edge of the book. “You don't know how hard I tried. I just...didn't know how.” he shakes his head.“You're leaving? Just like that? Why are they making you do this?”“They're not making me. It's my choice.” Blaine argues, getting up to walking back inside.Sam follows and stops him. “So change your mind!”Blaine turns to face him. “There’s not enough time, my flight leaves at noon, tomorrow.”Sam falters. “How can you leave! This is your home. It’s where your grandfather is, it’s where you surf, it’s- it’s where i am.” he whispers.Sam just doesn’t understand how Blaine could be so willing to leave everything behind and start a new life somewhere miles and miles away.Blaine sighs. “I was really lucky to get into this school, Sam. My Aunt said it will pave the way to my future. I know you're upset, and I should've told you. I just... I didn't know how.” “What was this deal your Aunt was talking about?” Sam leans down and takes his hand.Blaine looks down at their hands. “After we lost my mom, the deal I made with my Aunt was that I could stay here with my grandfather for the first part of high school. Then, when it was time to get serious, I would leave with my aunt and go to this school. Like mom would’ve wanted me to.”
Sam shakes his head. “So she just shows up to take you away? Aren’t you happy here? with me?”
Blaine looked at him, then back down at the journal he was holding. “This is my mom's journal.” he opens it to the marked page. “‘Most of all, I dream that my son becomes a great success. That he isn't just pulled through life...But marches through it...Triumphantly’”
A tear makes its way down Blaine’s cheek, suddenly hitting that he’s leaving everything behind.
Sam wipes it away. “She sounds amazing.” he whispers. Blaine smiles. “Yeah. My mom wanted to go to college, and make something of herself, but she had me, time passed, and... she never got to live out that dream.” he sighed.
Sam’s brows furrowed. “That’s not your fault.”
“No, I know it's not. I also know that I can do what she never had a chance to.”
“You don't have to be who your Aunt is. Blaine, you can be anything you want.”
“Sam, i have to do this.” He removes Sam’s hand from his face and walks toward the door. Sam follows and stops him, gently grabbing his arm.
“What about us?”
“How can there be an us after today?” Blaine says with glassy eyes.
Sam falters. “I’ll wait for you.” he told him seriously.
Blaine shook his head sadly. "I know what it's like to miss somebody, Sam. And I care about you too much to ever put you through that."
"So you're saying you care about me enough to break up with me?" Sam frowned.
"I don't want to, Sam, but what choice do I have?" Blaine asked.
Sam stared at him with a disappointed face for a moment, before turning to lean against a pole.
Blaine leaned his head on his arm and planted a kiss on his back. "Thanks...for the most awesome summer of my life. I wish it wasn't over." he said softly, before going back inside, leaving Sam to sigh and contemplate.
Inside, the special surfboard gleamed, without anyone noticing.
***
The next morning, Blaine was packing up his room. He opened up his trunk to put his mother's journal in it. Then he looked at the picture frame in his hand. It held a picture of Sam carrying him on his back up the beach. He was laughing, and Sam was grinning at the camera.
Blaine half smiled at the memory. It really had been the most awesome summer of his life. Then he carefully set the frame in his trunk.
Shutting the lid, he moved to grab his suitcases and walk out the door. He stood in his doorway, staring at the special surfboard. Then he got an idea.
He slammed a note down and went to the beach.
****
He was standing near the lifeguard chair and stared at the waves coming in. Everyone was talking about them.
Sam came up next to him. "Hey."
Blaine smiled at him. "How did you know I was gonna be here?"
Sam scoffed. "I knew you couldn't stay away from a surf like this."
Blaine sighed. "Sam, I'm glad you came, but I told you..."
"I just came to watch you surf, not to propose." Sam held up his hands.
"Okay." Blaine raised an eyebrow, then nudged him with his shoulder. "Check out what I'm about to do." He ran out to the ocean, Sam smiling after him with a fond look on his face.
Blaine paddled out to the waves and began surfing, occasionally running into some big waves.
Sam walked along the beach, trying to keep his eye on him.
Frank walked up to him. "Hey."
“You gotta see this, he’s ripping it," Sam said with admiration.
"Yeah...I don't like the looks of that sky, Sam." Frank said worriedly.
"Yeah, check it out." Sam pointed out. A bunch of guys fell off their surfboard into the wave.
"You're right, this doesn't look good, he’s gotta get in. This looks bad." Sam said, increasingly concerned.
A lifeguard blew his whistle and held up a red flag, signaling for everyone to come back.
Blaine turned to look at the lifeguard, then back at the increasingly closer wave, and paddled farther out.
"What is he doing?" Sam asked.
"He’s not paddling in, this isn't good." Frank frowned.
Sam grabbed a life jacket and ran for a jet ski. The other surfers pointed at the huge waves.
Sam rode the jet ski out to where Blaine was. "Blaine! Come on, don't do it!"
"No, I have to!" Blaine yelled back.
"Don't do it!" Sam pleaded.
Blaine shook his head and turned back to the wave.
"Blaine!" Sam yelled.
Blaine began to ride the huge wave, but wiped out and fell into the water.
Sam dove off the jet ski into the water, swimming after him.
Frank winced and looked at the ground.
Blaine’s surfboard poked out of the ocean, floating on top as he and Sam broke out of the water for air.
Sam paddled over to Blaine. "Are you okay?”
Blaine turned to him. "What are you doing here? And what happened to the storm?" he looked around.
"Come on, let's get your board." Sam began to swim over. "Let's go."
As they walked onto the beach, Blaine asked Sam angrily, "What did you do?"
"I tried to save you!" Sam said incredulously. "This is the part where you tell me I'm your hero and shower me with kisses!"
Blaine whacked his arm. "I didn't need saving! This is my last chance to ride that monster wave before I leave forever, and instead, I end up here, and.." he stopped when he dropped to his knees and saw a girl jumping into the air, shaking her hips before falling back down.
Blaine cocked his head in disbelief. "...Sam?"
"Yeah?" Sam asked, taking off his life jacket and throwing it down.
“Sam," Blaine said again, getting up and walking closer.
"Blue sky, gentle breeze..."
"What a day."
"...Yeah?" Sam said, confusedly walking after him.
They both peeked up from behind a boat, watching as a group of people danced in slow motion and threw up beach balls.
"Sunshine and sweet harmony, time to play."
"No more, complications. From now on just, good vibrations!"
Sam and Blaine watched in disbelief, nudging each other as the beachgoers did flips, played in the water, and gave piggyback rides. Their attention was diverted by an old-looking car pulling up, and a bunch of teenagers speed-running out of the car, till a toned, curly haired boy got out of the car, smiling before running to the beach.
“Maybe we're dead. We've died and ended up in a musical!" Blaine said, his voice breaking with utter confusion and fear.
"On my way, feeling fine. Can see my reflection in my surfboard shine, can hardly wait, to cause a commotion! C'mon everyone! Jump into the ocean!" The man began to sing.
"Flying high! Just outta reach, no ands, ifs, buts, we're nuts for the beach!" Everyone danced.
"Surf, surf! Surf, surf crazy! Ride the perfect waves, say hi to the sky!"
Blaine glared at Sam for singing along as they hid behind surfboards.
"Surf, surf sand! It's a bikini wonderland! Summers on! And we've gone! Surf, surf crazy!"
"The radio blasts! And here's the plan!" A darker-skinned man and a girl began to sing, more people on towels below them.
“We'll soak up the sun and get the ultimate tan! We can hardly wait to show our devotion! Here we go again into the ocean!"
"Now's the time! So here's the speech! No rules at all, have a ball at the beach!"
"Surf, surf! Surf, surf crazy! " Everyone sang, doing choreography with beach balls."Ride the perfect waves, say hi to the sky!" Suddenly, the girls were on the guy's shoulders.
"Surf, surf sand! It's a bikini wonderland! Summertime And we've gone! Surf, surf crazy!"
Everyone ran past Sam and Blaine. "Blaine, we're in the movie." Sam finally realized.
"What movie?" Blaine asked, wrinkling his nose.
"My movie! Wet Side Story!" Sam exclaimed excitedly.
"What??? How??? Why??" Blaine’s brain was wracking itself for any sort of explanation for how they ended up in this hell.
“All viable questions!" Sam grinned.
"What do we do??" Blaine asked.
"Have fun!" Sam whooped, running after the group.
A bunch of boys lined up and shot water out of their snorkels.
Sam joined in on the line choreography.
"Burgers hot! Water's warm! A cool seaside bash!" Everyone sang, doing their little moves."Catch a wave! Turn it up! Make a splash! Make a splash!" Everyone began to pass a bucket full of water.
"Make a splash!" Sam whooped, throwing the bucket on Blaine, who scowled at him.
“Crazy!" The surfers said in unison.
"I'm Jesse." The curly-haired man winked."Jake!" The dark-skinned man tipped his hat."Brittany!" The blonde shook her hips again."Ryder!" A man smirked."Kitty!" The girl with the high ponytail whipped her hair."Sam!" Sam beamed.Blaine looked at everyone with an unimpressed glance. "I'm Blaine."
"Cowabunga attack!"
Everyone began to do more choreography, this time with surfboards, then with more beach balls, then with both.
"Surf, surf! Surf, surf crazy!" They sang again, as Blaine tried to find his way out of the circle, and failing miserably.
"Ride the perfect waves, Say hi to the sky! Surf, surf sand! It's a bikini wonderland! Summers on! And we've gone! Summers on! And we've gone! Summers on! And we've gone! Surf, surf crazy!"
Blaine stood in the middle. "Well. That happened." he said to himself.
Everyone began to get up again, and the music keyed up, but Blaine quickly waved his arms and everyone fell back down.
Sam ran up to him. "That was fantastic! Crazy right?" He grinned.
"I'd say so." Blaine inhaled.
Suddenly everyone got up and ran to Big Mommas, Sam grabbing Blaine and pulling him along.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
Sam burst into the room with Blaine by his side. "Oh, that was awesome!" He triumphed.
The music screeched to a halt, and everyone turned to look at them.
"I mean...insane." Sam cleared his throat.
Everyone continued to give them weird looks.
"Um...what up, dawg?" Sam tried again.
"Far out. He thinks we're animals." Jake made his way to the front of the crowd.
"No, it's an expression. It means..." Blaine trailed off. "He's right, it does sound ridiculous." He whispered to Sam.
"And where are you cats from?" Jake asked.
"Oh, so cats is okay, but dog is weird," Blaine noted sarcastically.
"Just follow my lead," Sam whispered.
"Is it leading us home?" Blaine whispered back.
“We're from uhh.." Sam trailed off. "Not far away." He said this at the same time Blaine chimed in with "Far away." They looked at each other.
"Right, uh, not far, but um, but...but far." The two struggled to agree.
"Hey, Ryder?" Jake asked.
"Yeah, Jake?" Ryder came up behind.
"Seems to me like we've got some unwanted Hodads.."
"Hodads!" Ryder interjected.
"That we needs to put to the kibosh..."
"Kibosh!"
"No, no! You've got it all wrong!" Sam quickly said.
"We don't jelly.." Jake began before Ryder interrupted him again with "Jelly!"
Jake just death stared Ryder until he finally stepped back.
"We don't jelly roll to outsiders." Jake finished.
Suddenly, the sound of motorcycles revving made the surfers scatter, and the two outsiders rushed off to hide.
"This is Big Mommas, the restaurant where the surfers and bikers all hang," Sam whispered.
"Bikers? What bikers?" Blaine brushed the beads out of his face. Being short was not helpful.
Sam pointed to the side.
The doors flew open and a man in all black leather with a mohawk and glasses burst in. He turned around to reveal the back of his jacket, which read: "The Rodents. Social Club."
”Each gang wants the other one gone so the others can have it for themselves," Sam explained.
More engines revved as a girl with short blonde hair and black sunglasses, also dressed to the nines in leather came in, followed by a similarly dressed girl, with tanned skin and dark hair. She blew a bubble until it popped.
"Here comes Hunter, the leader of the motorcycle gang, The Rodents," Sam said excitedly.
“The Rodents?" Blaine asked, unimpressed. Sam pointed again.
A dark figure came riding in on his motorcycle, wearing a helmet, and--you guessed it! Leather.
"How cool is that?" Sam grinned.
"So we landed in the middle of a Surf and Turf War?" Blaine raised an eyebrow.
Hunter parked his bike and took off his helmet, revealing blonde coiffed hair. He got off his bike and adjusted his vest.
Blaine stared in disbelief at what was happening in front of his eyes
Hunter walked down the stairs and snapped his fingers. The Biker crew began walking behind him. He snapped his fingers again once they were close enough, and everyone stopped.
Hunter took off his sunglasses. "Surfers. Thought I smelled somethin' fishy." He said in a weird sort of accent.
"Rodents." At Jake’s voice, the Bikers turned around.
I knew I should have laid some traps." Jake sneered.
"Thought you were exterminated." Kitty puffed out her chest.
“And we thought you soifers was all washed up." The guy with the mohawk, who seemed to be Hunter’s second in command, pushed past everyone to get up in the Surfer's faces.
Hunter quickly pulled him back. "Yeah, because clearly, youse is drips." He snarled.
"You should make like the ocean and wave goodbye." The short haired blonde snickered.
"Because Hunter wants this place all to himself."
"Yeah! Hunter wants this place all to himself!" The brunette put her gloved hand on Hunter’s shoulder.
"Yeah! Hunter wants...oh." Ryder trailed off at Hunter’s glare.
"They does not lie," Hunter smirked.
“Sorry, but Big Mommas is a perfect hangout. We want it all to ourselves." Jake crossed his arms.
"I'm so very sorry but that might not probably happen." Hunter poked Jake in the chest.
Jake started to get angry.
"Excuse me, sorry, excuse me." Jesse slowly made his way up front.
Once he was beside Jake, he looked at Hunter, who had one eyebrow raised.
"....What?" Jesse asked, a little confused at the situation.
Hunter scoffed. "I'll show you what." He snapped his fingers.
Everyone looked to where a female Biker, dressed in pink leather with long brown hair and fair skin, was standing near a jukebox. She tossed her helmet off to the side and placed a coin into the jukebox.
Blaine looked at Sam, confused, who was grinning, knowing what was to come.
With a dramatic sigh, the girl swung her hips against the jukebox, and it started up.
"Stand back." Sam shook his head, smiling.
"Why?" Blaine asked.
“You'll see."
Hunter had taken off his vest, his red shirt tight against his abs, and began snapping, his fellow biker guys behind him.
"You better run, run, run, here we come. Revving our engines under the sun You're cruisin' for a bruisin'. Whoa, keeping me cool! Smooth and steady! Slicked back hair man things are getting heavy! You're cruisin' for a bruisin'! Two wheels and an open road. Wrapped in leather ready to go! Don't stop, stop the music! We ride fast like a bullet. We do anything we want, anytime we want, oh yeah, oh yeah! We just ride, ride, ride all day! We're not gonna live any other way!"
The boys sang and did their choreography, (sometimes with chairs) all while in tight leather.
"Bubblegum cherry pop, go to the hop."
The pink biker sang while surrounded by her fellow female bikers.
"Hanging with my brother 'cause his friends are so hot! While they're cruisin', for some bruisin'!"
She winked.
Sam suddenly jumped in, dressed in leather and sunglasses. Blaine’s eyes widened and he looked to his side. When had that happened?
"Alright, I went to the drive-in and what did I see? A hundred little betties all staring at me! I was cruising, for some lovin'!"
He began to sing.
The short-haired blonde biker gave him a kiss, which, much to Blaine’s dismay, made him grumble with discontent.
"I got these two wheels and an open road! Just pop that clutch, I'm ready to go! Don't stop, stop the music! We ride fast like a bullet! We do anything we want, anytime we want Oh yeah, oh yeah! We just ride, ride, ride all day! We're not gonna live any other way. Oh no, we're not gonna live any other way, oh! Goes 1, 2, 1, 2, 3! A who, who, who's ridin' with me? I gotta a gang full of bruisers, all cruising with me! And we're tearin' up, we're tearin' up, we're tearin' up the streets!"
Sam knew all the choreography, hitting every little mark, making Blaine smile. He clearly had invested hours in watching this movie. It was cute, but also a little concerning.
Hunter began to play his guitar, with Sam jumping in with his own. Where he got one? Movie magic. Duh.
He shredded the guitar as some of the boys, including Hunter, did backflips. Blaine scoffed. Show-offs.
As everyone began to do twirls, Sam threw his guitar off to the side (again, movie magic) and walked over to the jukebox, hitting it so it would stop playing for a moment while he caught his breath. Once he was ready, he hit it again and the music started back up.
"Don't stop, stop the music! We ride fast like a bullet! We do anything we want, anytime we want oh yeah, oh yeah! We just ride, ride, ride all day! We're not gonna live any other way! So don't stop, stop the music! We ride fast like a bullet We do anything we want, anytime we want, oh yeah, oh yeah! We just ride, ride, ride all day! We're not gonna live any other way No, we're not gonna live any other way! Oh no, we're not gonna live any other way! Oh!"
Sam finished off the song with a slide on his knees.
Blaine grinned at him. "You just couldn't help yourself, could you?"
"I've always wanted to be in that number," Sam said breathlessly.
****
“Remember that TV show with the big space lions and the aliens that were trying to conquer the universe, and these five teenagers controlled those big lions and somehow always had time for trips to the mall and game show episodes in between saving the universe?" Blaine asked Sam as they exited Big Mommas.
"Yeah?" Sam asked.
"That made more sense than this!" He threw up his hands.
"I have an idea. Hand me my cell." Sam said.
"Uh, What year was this movie made?" Blaine asked him.
"Uh, around 1960?" Sam answered.
"And you're going to do what with a cell phone that doesn't exist yet?" Blaine deadpanned.
"Call my folks...who weren't born yet. Fuck." Sam sighed.
"Sam, my entire future depends on us getting out of here, like right now!" Blaine moaned.
“Except maybe it'd be fun to hang for a bit!" Sam smiled brightly.
"Except no it wouldn't, because I have to catch a plane in two hours!" Blaine frowned. "Well, two hours and fifty years!"
"Fine. Maybe we need to figure out how we got here in order to know how to leave." Sam suggested. "So we came in on that storm,
right? Maybe that had something to do with it!"
"So we have to wait for a storm to get out of here?" Blaine asked incredulously.
"Yeah, but we're in luck because there's a huge storm at the end of the movie!" Sam told her.
"Okay...what are we going to do in the meantime?" Blaine wondered.
Suddenly, a group of surfers consisting of Jake, Brittany, Ryder, and Kitty came out of Big Mommas. They were laughing and did a handshake ending with a head bonk.
Jake noticed Sam and Blaine. "Hey! We're having a shredder shindig tonight here at Big Mommas. You should both make the scene." He suggested.
“Yeah, but.." Blaine began.
Sam quickly cut him off. "Sounds blastin'!" He grinned.
"Hey! Cowabunga!" The surfers cheered before running down to the beach.
"Radical!" Sam called after them, laughing.
Blaine looked at him sternly. "We're stuck in another dimension and your idea of a good time is to go partying?" he crossed his arms. "Well, not me!"
Suddenly, it was night, and they were both wearing beach-themed clothing.
"This was...how am I wearing?!" Blaine exclaimed.
"The magic of movies. You look nice." Sam winked at him. Blaine sighed.
“Dude, your board!" He suddenly pointed out.
"How did that get here?" Blaine pondered, stroking the wood. He hung his wet suit on the railing.
"Come on, let's go." Sam pulled him up the stairs.
Everyone was dancing, with a band called Momma's Boys playing in the background.
"Hey Brittany, those hips are so seismic." Jake complimented the girl.
"It ain't moving em' that's the problem Jake, it's getting em' to stop." Brittany giggled.
Sam and Blaine walked in.
"So. This is a shindig," Blaine commented.
"Yup. And you're dressed for it. Let's roll." Sam grabbed his hand and pulled him along.
The Bikers burst in, watching everyone dance and have a good time.
"So, Boss, how do we get Big Mommas to be a Biker's only joint?" Puck asked.
“Shut up, I'm thinking," Hunter said.
"How long is that gonna take?" Santana complained.
"Great, now I gots two things to think about." Hunter fluffed up his collar. "Let's go."
They began to walk down the steps. "We're not gonna let a bunch of waterlogged wash-outs spoil our very fine evening," Hunter said, walking down the middle of a bunch of tables and swiping a soda.
"Big Momma's is like a second home to me...if I had first one." Santana followed after Hunter.
"I popped my first wheelie in here," Puck commented.
As they all slid into a booth, he asked, "Hey, did you see that surfer guy eyeballin' you?"
"Yeah, I saw him. I saw him alright." Quinn huffed.
"Sodas for everyone." Rachel slid in next to Santana and pushed a bunch of sodas onto the table.
"Thanks, sis." Hunter smiled. Rachel smiled back.
“Hey, those surfers weren't bothering you, were they?" Her brother asked.
"No, of course not." Rachel frowned. "They're not so bad.
"All surfers is bad!" Santana snapped.
"Yeah, all surfers is bad." Quinn echoed.
"Now, except for the ones that are very bad." Puck brought up.
"They're even worse." Hunter declared.
Everyone laughed until Hunter snapped his fingers. This continued for a while.
"Oh! It's almost time, let's go!" Rachel said to Santana, who slid out of the booth after her.
"Hey, Big Momma! You sure know how to fry up a fish burger!" Ryder said to June aka Big Momma.
"Well, if you can catch it, Big Momma can cook it." June laughed.
Ryder took her by the hand and spun her around. The two began to dance.
“Oh boy, I gotta cook." She slapped him in the chest and walked off.
Sam and Blaine looked at each other, before walking down the stairs together, hand in hand as music started to play.
Sam pulled Blaine to his chest, before dipping him down and bringing him back up in sync with the rest of the people on the dance floor.
Blaine gave him a warning look.
Rachel began to sing.
"The day started ordinary. Boys walking by..."
"Come on, let's dance," Sam begged Blaine. He shook his head. "I'm sorry." He let go of his hand and walked away, getting caught in the middle of a dance circle.
"It was the same old story, too fresh or too shy..."
Sam caught up to him but he just walked away again.
“I'm not the kind to fall for a guy, who flashes a smile." Sam did some funny dance moves, trying to get a smile out of Blaine, but it was proving unsuccessful.
In the background, Jesse appeared, looking broody and mysterious.
"Don't usually swoon, but I'm over the moon.."
Sam got pushed back to dance with a surfer girl, and Blaine got swept up by a random dude. He fell back and Sam managed to push him back up before he fell into his arms and he struggled to push him back up.
"And now I'm, falling for ya, falling for ya! Can't hold on any longer, and now I'm falling for you."
Sam and Blaine were once again caught up in the choreography, one enjoying it much more than the other.
"It feels like I tumbled from another world, into your arms and it's so secure. Maybe I'll stumble but I know for sure. Head over heels I'm gonna be your girl."
Jesse began to walk down to the dance floor, still looking broody and mysterious.
"Sam, Sam, Sam, Sam." Blaine finally managed to pull Sam away from the choreography.
"What?" He asked.
"Look, I'm sorry, but I'm worried. I don't have time to wait around for the storm. I'm gonna head back to the beach and try and figure a way out of here." He turned to go.
“No no, Blaine, Blaine, remember? This is the part we saw at your grandfather's, where the two leads got together?" Sam grinned.
Blaine pressed his lips together into a thin smile.
"You enjoy it. I'll let you know if I come up with anything."
He turned and left, but ran smack dab into Jesse, who caught him with one hand on his neck and the other on his back.
He smiled at his bewildered face.
Sam stared at them for a moment, before noticing Rachel beginning to twirl.
Knowing what happened next, he dashed forward to catch her before she fell.
He caught her in time, and she gasped, staring up at him.
"And now I'm, falling for ya, falling for ya! I know I shouldn't but I, I just can't stop myself from, falling for ya, falling for ya, can't hold on any longer, and now I'm falling for you."
Blaine gave Jesse a nervous half-smile.
Sam set Rachel down. She looked at him with Disney Princess-worthy eyes, then lightly tapped him on the nose as she finished singing.
"You saved my life." She said softly.
“Not really, I mean the stage is like, two feet up. The worst you would have done was broken a nail." Sam smiled nervously.
"I guess I literally fell for you, huh?" Rachel giggled.
Sam gave her a goofy smile.
"I'm Rachel." She told him.
"I know," Sam said without thinking. Rachel cocked her head slightly.
"I mean! Yeah, you are." Sam tried to cover up his mistake. "I've been dreaming about this since I was, like, in fifth grade." He stammered.
"Who are you?" Rachel said in a dazed sort of way.
"Sam, Knight in shining board shorts." He winked.
"That's a really long last name." Rachel giggled.
"Nice of you to drop in," Jesse said to Blaine.
"Um, sorry, I didn't see you." Blaine cleared his throat.
"Now that you do, do you like what you see?" Jesse grinned, and his teeth sparkled.
Blaine’s eyes widened. "Um, sure! It's really nice to meet you. Excuse me for just one second."
Blaine started to back away from him.
"Sam, can I have a moment? A really quick, important moment." Blaine walked up to where Sam and Rachel were standing.
"Excuse me, Rachel," Sam said as Blaine pulled him away.
"Okay, it was really great falling into you! I hope we can do it again sometime!" Rachel called after them.
"The mannequin with six rows of teeth just asked me out," Blaine whispered.
Jesse smiled again, with the same teeth flash.
"Blaine, something's not right." Sam frowned.
"We could write a list of things that aren't right! Starting with the fact that there are enough things to write a list." Blaine exclaimed.
"Look around." Sam pointed. "Nothing's happening. It's almost...dull."
The surfers and bikers were standing in their little groups, looking confused and out of place.
“Okay, and?" Blaine asked.
"Okay, so when Rachel sings that song about finding the perfect boy and being happy..." Sam began.
"See, that's exactly my point. Why does she need a boy to be happy?" Blaine complained.
"Because it's 1962!" Sam said, exasperated. "The thing is, after she sings that song, it's Jesse who's supposed to catch her after he walks by."
"Okay, what happens right after he catches her?"
"They fall instantly in love, but they are pulled apart, and a full-on dance war breaks out."
"It's almost like no one knows exactly what to do next," Blaine noted. Then he slowly realized. He grabbed Sam’s hand and pulled him outside.
*****
“Rachel and Jesse were supposed to fall into each other's arms, find love, and then are pulled apart by a turf war. That's how the movie's written?" Blaine asked.
"But instead, they fell into our arms, and now, they're into us," Sam said.
"And there's no turf war."
"Right."
"So we changed the movie." Blaine declared.
Sam’s eyes widened. "We changed the movie!"
“Do you think this will affect anything?" Blaine asked worriedly.
"It affected who they fell for, who knows what else it could affect?" Sam said anxiously.
"Okay, okay. Sam, you said that there's a storm at the end of the movie that we can ride out of here on." Blaine bent down to where Sam was sitting backward on a chair.
"Yeah, three days after they meet." Sam nodded.
Blaine stood up, bringing Sam with him. "I'm gonna ask you something, even though I know, and I know you know, I don't wanna know. Is there anything that happens in the next three days that could affect that storm?"
Sam thought about it for a moment, before his eyes widened and he grabbed Blaine’s arm, pulling him away.
"See, didn't wanna know!" Blaine groaned.
****
“If you're looking for this to make sense, you're on the wrong beach," Blaine said to Sam as they ran side by side down the shore.
"I'm looking to see if Sue is building her diabolical weather machine." He responded.
"How often do you hear that sentence?" Blaine mumbled to himself.
"Remember? I told you about the maniacal real estate developer?"
"Or that one!"
"Sue knows this beachfront property will be gold someday. So she tells Big Momma to sell it to her so she can build an overpriced resort. She says no." Sam explained.
"Of course she does, or there would be no movie," Blaine grumbled.
"It gets better."
"I can't wait." Blaine stopped suddenly, panting. “Let's just stop right here."
The two of them looked up to see a lighthouse off in the distance, transmitting a bunch of energy.
"No way! That's Sue’s hideout!" Sam said excitedly. "Let's go, come on!" He took off again, leaving Blaine to groan and run after him.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
“This is it!" Sam ran up to the doors.
"How do we get in?" Blaine asked.
Sam winked at him and bent down to the "Not Welcome" mat. He pulled it aside, and there was a cartoonishly large key underneath. "Boom." He smirked.
Blaine rolled his eyes to the back of his head and gestured for him to get a move on.
Sam unlocked the door, and they made their way through wires as they listened to the villains above them.
"You know, I've dreamed of a scheme like this ever since I was a child, conning my school fellows out of their lunch money."
"Lunch? How about takeout?"
Sam and Blaine peeked out from behind a curtain. "That's her!" Sam whispered. "She’s all proper, but she's from Pittsburg."
Sue was a tall and imposing woman, with short blonde pixie cut hair and a red tracksuit.
"Wait, who is that with her?" Blaine pointed to her accomplice, short man with a moustache, and glasses, who was quite hunched over. "And what are they building?"
"Desperate to get Big Momma's, Sue includes Brad, a mad scientist, in the scheme to carry out her idea," Sam explained softly. Blaine had a look of disgust and confusion on his face.
"Come on, come on." Sam pulled Blaine over to a different spot, where Blaine asked once again, "What is that?"
He was talking about a spinning machine with a magnet on top, omitting flashing zigzag lights.
"Sue’s diabolical weather-altering machine."
"Yes yes yes. Manual?" Sue turned to Brad, who was holding it in front of her face. He slowly pushed it down. "This thing's almost built. Shouldn't you be off-book?" He frowned.
Sue just tossed the manual to the side.
Sue put an arm around him and brought him closer. "This machine will so drastically change the weather patterns, it will literally still the oceans so there's no longer surf. It'll create humidity so dense, it'll rust every piece off of those shiny chrome machines. The gleeful fools will leave to find a new spot to surf, the bikers won't come near this area ever again, and I shall triumph. Triumph I say!" She declared.
"You will have the last laugh," Brad said.
"Yes, well, I have always been rather wary of the last laugh. I mean, what if it was only moderately funny?" Sue pondered.
"Ha ha ha."
"Ha ha ha!"
"Ha ha ha!"
"Ha ha ha!"
"Hah ha...HA!"
"And this thing never won an Oscar," Blaine said sarcastically, turning to leave.
"Blaine, wait, wait" Sam grabbed his shoulder. "In the movie, Rachel and Jesse discover Sue’s plan. They unite the surfers and bikers and destroy the machine, which ends in an explosion. That's what creates the storm."
“So if Rachel and Jesse don't get back together, which would put the movie back on track the way it's supposed to play out..." Blaine frowned.
"The chain of events that created that storm won't happen," Sam said grimly.
"And we'll be stuck here and never get home." Blaine started to freak out a little bit.
"Don't worry. We'll figure it out." Sam tried to soothe him.
“Hunter, it's cold! Give me your jacket." Santana demanded. She and the rest of the biker crew were crowded around a fire, warming their hands and toasting marshmallows. Hunter hit Puck in the chest, and Puck quickly took off his jacket and draped it around Santana, who giggled.
Rachel saw Sam and lit up, rushing over and giving him a small hug. "Thanks again, Sam, for catching me." She said earnestly. "You know, these are..." She trailed off when she saw Blaine. "Oh, bonkers! Are you two together? I would never take another person’s boy. I mean, that would be stealing, and probably very hard to return."
"Uh, no, we're not together." Blaine quickly said. Sam gave him a weird look.
"I mean, we're together! But not...together." Blaine tried to amend.
"Rachel, this is Blaine." Sam introduced.
"So, you wouldn't mind if Sam took me for a walk on the beach?" Rachel asked.
Blaine swallowed. "Please! I mean, beaches are meant to be walked on. That's why they're called...beaches." he decided to stop talking.
"You guys are strange," Rachel said. She thought for a moment, before smiling. "I like that. Um, meet me by the water, Sam." She giggled, skipping off, before circling back. "Oh! And it was very nice to meet you." She patted Blaine’s shoulder, before walking off again.
"I don't get it! Okay, first, you break up with me, but then
you throw me in the arms of someone else?" Sam walked closer to Blaine.
"She's crushing on you," Blaine responded, giving him a look.
"I like you!" Sam said indignantly. "And until you go off to that school, I'm not gonna like anyone else but you! The way I like you."
As much as Sam gave him butterflies when he talked like that, Blaine kept up his resolve.
"You're not seeing what's right in front of you." Rachel was leaning against a lifeguard's post.
"You're right in front of me." Sam crossed his arms.
"I can explain it to you Sam, but I can't understand it for you." The two turned to look at Jesse, who was leaning against a blue car, with a guitar.
"So..the way to get her to like him is for me to deflect her affections off of me, and onto him." Sam tried to lay out the plan.
"I hope so. I'm gonna do the same with Jesse." Blaine told him.
"Alright." Sam sighed. "I'll be back as soon as I can get that smokin' girl to hate me." He said, leaving Blaine to deal with Jesse.
Blaine walked over to where he was strumming his guitar. "Hi!" he smiled nervously.
"Hi!" Jesse grinned.
"Uh, do you mind if I join you?" Blaine asked.
"Of course not. I'd want to join me too." Jesse said.
Blaine smiled awkwardly. “Right.”
***
"So, Rachel, how come you bikers don't get along with the surfers?" Sam asked as he and Rachel walked down the beach.
"Oh...It's always been like that." Rachel shrugged. "We're not supposed to have a lot in common. Plus, we both want Big Mommas."
"Well, some of them seem pretty cool. Like, um, that guy Jesse." Sam tried to subtly hint.
"It was very courageous of you to charge the stage like that, and save my life." Rachel stared up at him, completely missing his hint. She took his hand in hers.
“Courageous? No no no." Sam blushed. Rachel smiled up at him, nodding.
"Maybe." He cleared his throat. "I mean, I'm sure anyone would have done the same, even a surfer."
"You're my hero," Rachel said softly.
"Hero?" Sam asked. Rachel began to lean in. Sam was caught up in her beauty. Her glittering eyes framed by long lashes, her cherry red lips...lips? He suddenly jerked back, effectively ruining the moment.
"Listen, Rachel, it's amazing spending time with you, but it's not..." he sighed. "I'm not what you think."
Rachel cocked her head, a confused smile on her face.
***
"So, you play the guitar." Blaine tried to make conversation.
"I know." Jesse looked up at him.
"No, I mean..are you good?" Blaine tried again.
"I am a little tired, but.."
“At…playing guitar," Blaine said.
"Well, sure, when something inspires me." He smiled at him.
Blaine blinked and nodded.
"If music be the food of love, play on." He said in a low sultry tone.
"Was that Shakespeare?" Blaine asked, surprised this walking talking set of teeth knew anything about the Bard.
"Huh? Uh, no, that was me. I talk low sometimes for effect." Jesse explained.
"Well, it works!" Blaine half smiled.
"Thanks. I can do highhhh! But everyone seems to dig the low better."
"Yeah..." Blaine says awkwardly.
"You know, I dig you, Blaine." Jesse smiled at him. "You're different than others around here."
"Actually, no, I'm not different," Blaine said, trying to dispel the romantic air between them. "I'm totally the same."
“The same as what?" He asked.
"As everyone that isn't different." Damn, he was thickheaded.
"Do you mind if I write a song for you?" Jesse asked softly.
"Uh, yes." Blaine quickly said. "What rhymes with Blaine? Insane? Terrible song."
Jesse gave him a saddened look.
"Really, Jesse, you only like me because you, think that running into you was destiny, but...not our destiny, your destiny, with someone else that you're meant to be with that isn't me. See?" Blaine tried to explain.
Jesse hitched up his guitar and began to strum.
"Oh, good, a song anyway." Blaine rolled his eyes.
“I believe we all have a soul mate. The chance for a perfect duet. I believe in hopeless devotion, I just haven't found ‘em yet."
Jesse sang, strumming his guitar and looking at Blaine with a loving gaze, making him uncomfortable.
"But in my mind, I see...the one, who is meant for me."
Jesse suddenly threw away his guitar and took Blaine’s arm.
"They’ll be someone who is lovely. Someone wonderful and true!"
He took his hand and walked backward, leading him away from the car.
"The kind of boy, who makes who makes you smile, even when you're feeling blue."
Rachel sang, pulling Sam along behind her and grinning.
"And I know, I know they’re out there. Most definitely."
"Oh yeah."
Jesse twirled Blaine and pulled him into him.
"Not a phony, or a fake."
Rachel sang.
“Sweeter than a chocolate shake, my meant-to-be! When it's meant to be! You go kinda crazy. Meant to be you forget your own name! When it's meant to be! It's destiny callin'! And nothing ever will be the same! Oh yeah!"
The two movie characters danced with Sam and Blaine, not noticing each other.
Sam looked at Blaine who rolled his eyes and walked over to Jesse, who was leaning against another car.
"You need someone who's into music."
He hopped up on the car and bent down so he was at eye-level with Jesse.
"To ride up high on Cupid's wings!"
he giggled when Jesse booped his nose.
"Find that boy with perfect hair! Hello Hollywood ending with strings."
Sam pulled Rachel close to him, making her beam, before he leaned up against the same car Jesse and Blaine were standing in.
"Oh, I know, I know they’re out there. Can't you see?"
The two sang.
"Oh yeah!"
Sam crooned.
"Maybe you've already met, the one you'll never forget!"
"You're meant to be!"
Blaine sang out.
"When it's meant to be!"
"The stars seem to glisten!"
"Meant to be!"
"All the clouds depart!"
"When it's meant to be! That's destiny callin'! And if you listen you'll find your heart!"
"Four eyes meet, and the meet is sweet! Could it lead to something more!"
"What's the deal? When the way you feel?"
"Is something you never felt before!"
Sam and Blaine each grabbed a towel that was hanging between the pairs and threw it off to the side.
"Oh!" Rachel gasped and hurried off.
“Gee!" Jesse did the same.
"Um..." Sam looked at his boyfriend.
"Plan B?" Blaine tried.
The pairs of lovebirds danced together, as the other characters of the movie danced in between them. They found themselves actually enjoying it. Sam pulled Rachel against him and took her hands, dancing back and forth. Jesse lifted Blaine into the air and he laughed, throwing his head back.
"When it's meant to be! You go kinda crazy. Meant to be you forget your own name. When it's meant to be! It's destiny callin'. And nothing ever will be the same!"
Eventually, everyone got into pairs and began to run together, running off to no place in particular.
Sam and Blaine were left panting, holding hands.
"I'm thinking that didn't go as well as we hoped." Sam sighed.
"Oh no!" Blaine gasped. "It's your favorite movie, what do we do?" he asked him frantically.
"Uh, in the movie, the next thing to happen is...the bikers all have a party, and the surfer guys hang out at Big Mommas," Sam remembered. "Maybe we need to get ourselves invited."
Blaine nodded, deciding this was the best course of action.
"Alright alright so, I'll go this way, you go that way. Cool?"
"Yeah."
"Let's go." The two began to run, before realizing.
"My bad. It's my favorite movie, I should have known." Sam mumbled as they ran past each other.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
“Quinn!" Blaine grabbed one of the bikers’ hands. "You know what I've never done?"
"Eaten a rock, kissed a squirrel?" Quinn inquired.
"All exciting things, but no." Blaine tried not to laugh. "I have never been to a party."
Quinn gasped. "We do them all the time! We're having one tonight!"
"You don't say!" Blaine exclaimed.
"Sure I do, I just did," Quinn said.
"Jesse!" Sam caught Jesse’s arm. "What're you guys doing later?"
"Hangin' at Big Mommas. Wanna come?" Jesse asked.
"Sure."
"Cool." Jesse ran off again.
Sam walked over to Quinn and Blaine. "Bikers tend to overcomplicate things. Hey Quinn, you should totally invite Blaine to your Party."
"Oh, great idea! How about it, Blaine?" Quinn grinned.
"I wouldn't miss it." Blaine smiled. Quinn grinned and clapped, running off.
Blaine dropped the smile and groaned. "That was exhausting."
Blaine rolled his eyes, looking over to where his wetsuit hung. Suddenly, it disappeared before his eyes.
He turned to Sam, wide-eyed. "Sam..."
“Whoa.." Sam gulped. "Y-you saw that right?"
"If you did!" Blaine said nervously.
The two ran over to where the wetsuit was previously hanging.
"What's going on?" Blaine asked frantically.
"Well, rash guard didn't exist back then right?" Sam said.
Blaine gave him a look that said, "So?"
"So it doesn't belong here, and it disappeared!" He finished.
"Wait, we didn't belong here either, so what's gonna happen to us?" Blaine asked worriedly.
As Sam gave him a worried look, music keyed up.
"NO!" Blaine yelled. "No music! Sam!" Blaine grabbed his arms. "We have to get out of here. I have to get on a plane!"
"It's not me!" Sam held his hands up.
The music keyed up once more, and Blaine had about had it. "NO! This is not a song!" He let out an irritated sigh and walked off. Sam ran after him.
****
“What are you doing?" Puck complained.
"I'm trying something new with Quinn’s hair, it looks boring." Santana replied as she was combing Quinn’s hair.
"No!" Quinn whined.
"Come on! One time?" Santana tried.
"Just don’t ruin it." Quinn scowled at her in the mirror.
"This is a party not a hair salon.” Puck rolled his eyes, sipping his drink.
Rachel came down the stairs, holding a blue polka-dotted dress with a white belt.
“What do you think?" She asked.
Seeing it in the mirror, Quinn turned around and popped her bubble. "Oh my gosh! It's beautiful!"
She said as Rachel hurried over to her.
"Should I wear this to go see Sam?" She asked.
"He loves to surf, and the water is blue, and this dress is blue, so the next time he goes surfing, he'll see the blue water and think of me!"
"Oh my gosh, I love it!" Tina, one of the other surfers gasped. The other girl bikers expressed their approval.
“I wouldn’t go near those surfers, baby sis.” Hunter voiced. “They’re all bad news.”
“C’mon Hunter, give Sam a chance, he’s a good guy.”
Blaine cleared his throat.
"Why should a boy influence what you choose to wear?" Blaine frowned. "Or anything you do?"
"Simple. A girl will look at your dress. A boy will look at how you look in a dress." Tina smirked.
"What's the matter with lettin' a boy be in control of things?" Santana asked.
“Right. Forgot what year this was.” Blaine said under his breath.
****
At Big Momma's, Jake peeked out from behind a beam, then pulled out a slingshot. He shot at something unseen, only to sigh with defeat.
"What's up?" Sam came up to him.
"It's wigged out. I keep missing." Jake frowned.
"What are you trying to do?"
"It's a game I play." Jake shot again and missed once more, making him wrinkle his nose in frustration. "Where I shoot stuff and try to hit that angry bird."
"Wait a minute, angry..." Sam chuckled, quite amused. Guess some things span generations.
Jake shot again and missed.
"So all you guys do around here is hang, eat, and surf?" Sam walked over to where Jesse was playing pool.
"Is there any other way?" He smirked as he shot and hit the balls.
Sam jumped down. "Sounds perfect." He agreed.
As Jesse lined up to shoot again, Sam decided to try his luck with the plan. "Sure are some boo-ha beauties around here, like that girl, Rachel?"
“A rodent?"
Sam turned around at the sound of Jake’s voice. "We don't date no rats."
"You wouldn't take out someone just because they’re a biker?" Sam asked.
"The tide wouldn't take out someone just because they’re a biker." Jake scoffed.
Sam shook his head and smiled.
"Don't listen to those guys. Doesn't matter if someone’s a surfer, biker, or bookworm." Jesse said, taking another shot at a billiard ball.
"What do you like?" Sam asked him.
"Well, they gotta have something special, ya know?" Jesse set his cue down and walked over to the front of the pool table, sitting on the edge.
“When you meet a girl you like, you should take my advice!"
The rest of the surfer boys sang.
Jesse got up on the pool table.
"Girls and boys like me..."
He put a hand up to his chin and smiled.
"Take the lead, they like it when you're in control!"
Jesse sang.
"Let 'em' breathe, chill out, and go with the flow."
Sam contradicted him, standing on the table as well.
"Make all the plans!"
"Don't be impolite!"
"I know what boys, know what girls, yeah I know what girls like."
"A quick glance, bat your eyes, and look away!"
Rachel put her hand under her chin and fluttered her fingers.
"Take a chance, why not ask them on a date?"
Blaine smirked.
"Pick up the check.."
"No! Bake them a pie!"
Rachel pulled out a pie out of seemingly nowhere, making Blaine’s brow furrow.
"I know what boys, know what boys, yeah I know what boys like."
Rachel walked towards Blaine with the pie, making Blaine back up, till he finally took the pie and threw it off-screen.
Jesse caught the pie, sticking a finger into it and tasting the cream.
"I know what girls like, you know what I mean?"
"I know what girls like, boys like girls like me!"
The biker girls lined up behind a dressing divider and began to dance.
"I know what boys like, girls like boys like me!"
The other surfer boys did the same as Sam did some of his own sick moves.
"I know what girls like, boys like girls like me!"
The girls threw a bunch of clothes into the air.
"Like me!" Jake grinned.
"Like me!" Quinn posed.
"Like me!" Hunter winked.
"Like me!" Santana put a hand under her chin.
"Like me!" Jesse pointed at the camera.
"Like me!" Rachel winked.
"Hang with the guys, don't let ‘em know how much you care."
Jesse sang.
"Look in their eyes, and tell ‘em even if you're scared."
Sam smoothed his hair back.
"You got it wrong!"
Jesse walked up to him.
"No! I got it right!"
Sam smirked.
"I know what girls, know what boys, yeah I know what they like."
Rachel tried to get Blaine to look in a handheld mirror but he pushed it away.
"Stretched pants! Cute sweater and sweet perfume."
The bikers and the surfers held clothes in front of their prospects.
“Don't dress for them, it's better when you dress for you!"
Blaine pushed the clothes away.
"My outfit is tight!"
Rachel smoothed down her pink nightgown.
"I know what girls like, know what boys, yeah I know what boys like."
Two bikers sang together.
"I know what boys like, you know what I mean?"
Jesse put on sunglasses as Sam scoffed.
"I know what boys like, boys like girls like me!"
The girls danced behind the divider again. Blaine was starting to let loose and be goofy with Rachel.
"I know what girls like, girls like boys like me!"
"I know what boys like, boys like girls like me!"
The surfer boys tossed up their clothes this time.
"Like me!" Puck whipped off his sunglasses.
"Like me!" Rachel said primly.
“Like me!" Santana said primly.
"Like me!" Jake adjusted his hat.
"Like me!" Quinn grinned.
"Like me!" Ryder waved.
"Like me!" Rachel smiled sweetly.
"All the boys, they try to woo me."
Rachel sang dramatically as a hairdryer blew her hair back. She accidentally turned it on Blaine as he sang,
"The more they chase me the more I resist!"
"All the boys, they think I'm groovy!"
Jesse sang as he and Sam practiced their surfing form.
"There's only one boy that's on my list."
Sam smiled as he thought of Blaine.
"I know what boys like, girls like boys like me!"
Three surfer boys sang, the divider coming down to reveal lights and microphones. They were dressed in a white tux jacket with blue striped shirts and blue jeans.
"I know what girls like, boys like girls like me!"
A similar thing happened with three biker girls.
They were dressed in a white top and a pink skirt that honestly looked like plastic.
“I know what boys like, girls like boys like me!"
The boys did a step dance towards the microphones.
Rachel and Blaine did a goofy dance together, cementing their friendship.
"I know what girls like, boys like girls like me!"
"I know what boys like, girls like boys like me!"
"I know what girls like, boys like girls like me!"
"I know what boys like, girls like boys like me!"
Everyone was dancing and having a good time.
"Like me!" Jake did a goofy dance move.
"Like me!" Quinn cooed.
"Like me!" Jesse winked.
"Like me!" Rachel fake gasped.
"Like me!" Sam pointed at himself.
"Like me!" Blaine shrugged his shoulders, pretending to be demure.
The bikers surrounded Blaine with a bunch of clothing before they threw everything down to reveal Blaine with his already curly hair and a black, white, and red biker outfit. He looked up in horror as the girl bikers squealed and told him how good he looked. The male bikers just nodded in approval. Blaine just laughed nervously, desperately wanting to get out of there.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
Blaine waited impatiently on the beach for Sam, shifting back and forth uncomfortably in his new biker outfit.
Sam strolled up to him, chuckling. "What's up, Elvis?"
"Hey, frat boy," Blaine responded. "How'd last night go?"
"So cool being those guys, even for a night, ya know? They look out for each other." Sam smiled fondly.
Blaine nodded. "Well, I couldn't get Rachel to talk about Jesse. I don't think we're any closer than we were before." he sighed.
"Not really, no." Sam agreed.
"What if...we can't get them together?" Blaine asked worriedly. "We'd be stuck here forever!"
"Would it be so bad?" Sam asked.
"Yes! Every minute that I'm here is another minute that I'm not doing what my mom wanted." Blaine told him.
"Every minute that we're here, we're together." Sam retorted and took his hand in his.
“I know…but-“
“Besides, when will we get another chance to be in a movie? Like actually in a movie?” he chuckles which urges Blaine to do the same. “Come on, B, What's your hurry to grow up and leave?" Sam asked.
"Everyone's counting on me to," Blaine said softly.
"Do you really want to?" Sam questioned, raising his eyebrow.
"I thought you understood." Blaine shook his head, dropping Sam’s hand.
"I do!" Sam argued.
"Well, then help me get home!" Blaine exclaimed.
Sam took a deep breath. "Fine. Maybe we just need to get Rachel and Jesse to spend more time together without peer pressure."
“Right. So they get to know each other as people, and not just rivals." Blaine nodded.
"Yeah." Sam nodded. Then after a beat, he said, "How are we gonna do that?"
"I don't know," Blaine admitted. "But I'm not gonna stop until I figure it out." he said determinedly before walking off.
Sam watched him go, feeling gloomy.
****
On the beach, Kitty noticed something. She gasped, took off her sunglasses, and said, “Jake, look!"
Jake sat up to see Jesse and Blaine surfing.
"Whoa!"
"Cowabunga!" Jesse grinned, looking over to Blaine.
“Yeah, cowabunga." he laughed nervously before surfing ahead. Jesse smoothed his hair back and grinned at his friends, who put on sunglasses and happily watched.
Later on, Jesse and Blaine were taking a walk.
"I've never been beaten on the waves before." Jesse commented, a bit pouty.
"Well, i think that anything is possible, especially here." Blaine told him with a smile.
"Well, if I was gonna think something right now, I think... that people aren't always what I think." Jesse wrapped his arm around a tree branch and leaned against it.
"Does that go for bikers too?" Blaine crossed his arms.
"Truth is, bikers aren't that bad. They want the same thing we do. We just want it better." Jesse admitted.
"So why all the conflict between you?" Blaine asked, genuinely confused.
"I don't know. It's sort of what everyone expects." Jesse shrugged. "Like the way it's always been, I guess."
"It's like, your heart is telling you one thing, but you feel like you have to do something else," Blaine said, finding truth in the words for himself.
“Yeah, I feel like it's just the 'something else' that always gets in the way," Jesse said wisely.
Blaine was surprised. "You know, you're a pretty smart guy."
"Yeah, but more pretty." He chuckled, flashing his grin and walking off, leaving Blaine to watch him go.
****
Blaine fiddled with the record player, trying to get it to play without skipping.
Rachel came over, seeing him struggle. "I know, this technology stuff can be really complicated." She smiled, helping Blaine properly use it.
Blaine gave her a smile in thanks.
"Oh, come here." Rachel grabbed his wrist and pulled him over to the vanity, pushing him to sit down in front of the mirror.
“Your hair is beautiful, Blaine.”
Blaine chuckles nervously. “Um, thanks. i guess.”
“No problem.” She said before noticing Blaine’s forlorn look in the mirror. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, yeah. I'm just.. homesick." Blaine shrugged and tried to smile.
"Oh no, is it the decor?" Rachel gasped.
"Oh, no, no! I'm not sick of your home, it's just.." Blaine turned to face Rachel before deciding to drop the subject and turning back around. "So, how are things with you and Sam?"
"Good!" Rachel beamed, beginning to play with Blaine’s hair again. Then she dimmed a little. "I guess. How are things with you and Jesse?"
"Good, I guess." Blaine laughed nervously, not meaning to parrot her.
"You know, sometimes, I think that boys don't tell us what they're thinking, just because telling us would involve more thinking." Rachel giggled. "But, they make up for it by being cute. And boys."
Blaine laughed at Rachel’s boy obsession before noticing the flower necklace around her neck.
"Hey, that's a really pretty necklace." He turned around to get a closer look, taking it in his hand.
"It's Hawaiian! It means friendship forever." Rachel told him. "Like us now!" She grinned.
Blaine smiled back, surprised at how much he enjoyed Rachel’s company. "You know, you're not at all what I thought you'd be."
"Yeah, I'm not as much like me as people think," Rachel said seriously.
Blaine nodded. His whole point of view was being changed.
Suddenly, Rachel perked up again, smiling. "You know, it's funny, I feel like I could tell you anything." She admitted.
"Yeah, I know. It does feel like that, doesn't it?" Blaine chuckles.
"I have a secret I've never told anyone," Rachel said nervously.
"Well, you can tell me if you want. Friendship forever, right?" Blaine smiled.
"Okay. Okay." Rachel grabbed Blaine’s wrist and pulled him over to the bed.
Full of nervous energy, Rachel sat on her knees and folded her hands. "Ready?"
Blaine nodded.
Rachel took a deep breath. "I wanna surf." She blurted.
Blaine was shocked. "Surf?" he asked.
Rachel nodded, smiling nervously.
"Cool," Blaine said, unsure of how to react.
“I mean, like a pro! It's absolutely insane, I know!" Rachel began to babble. "And if my brother ever found out he'd blow a gasket. Plus, no biker ever surfed before, I mean, but that's..that's what I want to do!"
Blaine smiled at her encouragingly.
"It's crazy, huh." Rachel giggled, looking down.
"Rachel. Never let anyone tell you what you can and can't do in life." Blaine told her seriously.
"But..how do I do that?" Rachel asked softly.
Blaine sighed. "It's not always easy, believe me."
"So, you think I should surf?" Rachel asked.
"You definitely should surf." Blaine agreed. "You know what, Sam would even teach you! I mean, he taught me everything I know, and I'm a pretty great surfer, right?"
"You really think he'd do that?" Rachel exclaimed.
"Yeah! I mean it's the perfect plan! I'll set it up." Blaine smiled.
Rachel squealed in joy and attacked Blaine in a hug.
***
The next morning, Rachel waited patiently by the water, looking around in confusion.
Across the beach, Blaine ran up to Jesse. "Hey, Jesse, so you know what, I would love a walk on the beach! In that direction." he pointed.
Jesse turned to look.
"Now. As in a walk in that direction, now." Blaine said anxiously.
"Uh, I made this for you." Jesse showed him a flower crown.
"You made that for me? Really?" Blaine asked, a bit touched.
"Well, there are, like, over a hundred kinds of flowers indigenous to this region, which would look so rad on a foxy babe like you," Jesse said earnestly, placing the crown on his head.
"Thanks.." Blaine adjusted it. "It's beautiful." he said genuinely.
So, how about that walk?" Jesse asked.
"Yeah." Blaine grabbed his arm, and they ran off.
****
Up in the mysterious lighthouse, trouble was afoot.
"Is it ready to be tested, Brad?" Sue asked.
"...Momentarily. This machine will create enough humidity to cause excessive precipitation, including torrential rains. As well as lots of frizzy hair and stinky pits." Brad explained with glee.
"Good, the more hoomidity the better." Sue laughed manically.
"Hu-midity." Brad corrected.
"Hm?"
"Hu."
"Hm?"
"Hu."
"Hm?
"Hu!"
"What about me?"
"Not 'who', 'hu'."
"Me what?"
“You said hoo!"
"No, you said hu."
"No, it's not 'who' it's 'hu!'"
"Yes I know it's me, why would I not know who I am?"
Brad groaned in frustration, pulling down his goggles. "Now, we just flip this switch!" Brad pulled up a lever.
Sue gasped in anticipation, but the lights just turned on.
"That's better, it was getting dark in here," Brad said. "Now we just flip this switch, ever so delicately, to protect the intricate inner workings of the machine, and..." Brad slowly pulled up the lever.
Sue perked up, but nothing happened. With a grunt, Brad smacked the control panel, and the weather machine started up.They both began laughing maniacally as the machine began to do its job.
A large bolt of purple lightning struck the ocean.
Blaine turned to look, having just caught it. "What?" he whispered confusedly before deciding not to worry about it for the moment.
"Jesse!" he yelled, running up to him, holding his shoes. "So I gotta go talk to Sam, but how about we meet in a few minutes?"
"Yeah, sure!" Jesse nodded, beginning to walk in the wrong direction.
Blaine grabbed his arm and pulled him in the right direction. The pair waved goodbye as Blaine ran off, shaking his head.
***
“Bravo. You're a wizard of weather, a jet stream genius, rising to the occasion under intense barometric pressure." Sue praised while eating popcorn out of a beaker.
"Oh go on." Brad waved his hand, blushing.
"Your mother must be very proud."
"Oh, I'm just like her you know. I even have her eyes!" Brad beamed.
"Aww." Sue smiled, continuing to eat his popcorn.
"Of course, I let her keep the rest of her face."
Brad continued. Sue, about to eat another kernel, froze.
"We've only got one mother," Brad said wisely.
Sue dropped the popcorn piece back into the beaker. "So, now that we've temporarily caused these changes in weather, how do we make them permanent so we can get rid of these bikers and surfers for good?"
"We need to magnify the power!" Brad giggled with glee.
The two jumped off the stairs, cackling.
Brad opened the fridge. He grabbed a flask with lime green liquid inside.
"Plutonium?" Sue asked excitedly.
"Lime soda." Brad took a drink.
Sue noticed another flask, this time with red liquid. She grabbed it. "Strawberry soda?" She asked, taking a sip.
"Plutonium," Brad said, making Sue immediately do a spit take, and whack Brad on the head.
”Ow!”
"In two hours' time, this liquid will turn green and reach a boiling point of 647 degrees!" Brad took the flask. "Or as we scientists like to call it, 'Wow! That's hot!'"
"Alright. Meanwhile, let's go see the effect it had on the water." Sue decided. "After you!"
"After you," Brad said.
"No, after you!"
"No, after you!"
They both started to go at the same time and ran into each other. Brad went ahead, muttering, "Sheesh."
“Sam, did you see that?" Blaine asked, walking up to him.
"Yeah, and it's the final warning before the big storm. Sue’s plan is working." Sam told him.
"Okay, we need to get back into the lighthouse to try and stop them." Blaine leaped up on a rock.
"But, we need the element of surprise." He said, looking around.
"Do you think we could get into it from the water-AGH!" Suddenly, Blaine lost his balance and fell off the rock.
"Blaine! Blaine you okay??" Sam ran up to the rock and looked over it.
Blaine bounced back up. His flower crown, going unnoticed, was swept away by the wave.
Blaine felt his hair. To his surprise...it was completely dry. "Hair." He croaked.
"Hair?" Sam asked, confused.
"Hair! Hair!" Blaine pointed to his hair. He flopped down, then popped back up again.
It hit Sam all at once. "Your hair isn't wet!"
"My hair isn't wet!" Blaine nodded.
"What does that mean??" Blaine asked.
“It means that my hair isn’t wet!!” Blaine began to freak out.
"And that means???" Sam was getting more confused/frustrated by the second.
"We're, morphing, changing, Sam, we're morphing into the movie!" Blaine scooted around the rock.
"We're changing?" Sam said in disbelief.
"We're changing!" Blaine reaffirmed. Then he groaned. "What are we gonna dooo-" he slapped his hand over his mouth. He had begun to sing at the end of the sentence.
"You're singing," Sam said, staring at his boyfriend in disbelief.
"I'm singing!" Sam sang in an operatic tone before covering his mouth again.
"Why are you singing?" Sam asked.
"I don't know, I suddenly just..." Blaine sang, throwing his arms out and running.
"Broke out into song?" Sam followed him.
"We're part of an involuntary music number!" Blaine said worriedly. “Ahh!" He suddenly blurted out, running away again.
"Stop!" Sam exclaimed.
"I can't stop!"
"Stop!"
"I can't stop!"
"This isn't good. First, the rash guard vanishes, then your hair, and now this!" Sam said worriedly.
Suddenly, ukulele strumming could be heard. A random dude casually strolled by, strumming the instrument.
"What's going on? This can't be happening, don't tell me it's a song!" Blaine groaned."It's a song!" Sam informed him."This wasn't how I planned it. Can't you see that this has gone too far? Please just pause the DVR! Someone won't you make it stop!" Blaine found himself doing dance moves despite his best efforts to stop it. He looked at Sam before running off."I'm losin' my mind." Blaine sat down on a bench."I don't see your problem," Sam did too, sitting uncomfortably close. They began to do more dance moves.
"Everything I say, it rhymes! Here comes another line."
“Just close your eyes if you don't wanna see." Sam covered Blaine’s eyes, and he removed his hands with flair."What's this choreography? Someone won't you make it stop!" Blaine moaned.
“Oh, I can't stop singing! Make it stop, make it stop! Am I real or just a prop? Oh, I can't stop singing. So let's just talk!"
Blaine and Sam did more choreography, then ran over to a randomly placed cardboard cutout of a mermaid king and queen.
"Talk, Talk!" Blaine sang as they put their heads and hands in the holes."It's just a song! An inefficient way to move the story along! I'M DONE!" Blaine said before his hands were forcibly used to cover his mouth, Blaine mumbling obscenities while being hushed."You're just being cynical." Sam chuckled.
"No, it's just the principal! Someone won't you make it, make it stop!"
Blaine whined.
"Don't make it stop!"
Sam exclaimed.
"Oh, I can't stop singing! Make it stop, Make it stop! Am I real or just a prop? Oh, I can't stop singing! So let's just talk!" Blaine and Sam sang as a blue ocean background was held up behind them, along with some fish bouncing up and down. Suddenly, they were nose to nose with each other.
"Talk."
"Talk." "Talk." "Talk." "Talk." "Talk." "Talk, Talk, Talk, Talk, Talk, Talk, Talk, Talk, Talk, Talk."
"We're trapped inside a musical." Blaine sang to Sam as the background was pulled away, and all the people behind it ran away. "At least I'm here with you! I don't wanna make it stop!" Sam pulled him in close and gave him his famous grin.
Then, the tap dancing began.
“Oh, I can't stop singing! Make it stop, Make it stop! Am I real or just a prop? oh, I can't stop singing! Does it stop, Does it stop? Is it ever gonna stop? Oh, I can't stop singing! So let's just.."
"Talk!" Blaine said normally. Panting, he turned around and screamed, "STOP!" At the poor guy with the ukulele as he began to strum again.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
Blaine rubbed his face in his hands, sweating from the exertion of forced danced moves. "Okay, okay, has it stopped?" He asked.
"Uh huh." Sam nodded.
"Okay. Let's go find Rachel and Jesse." Blaine suddenly remembered his plan, beginning to run.
"Alright." Sam sighed.
"Come on!" Blaine came back and grabbed his arm, pulling him along.
****
Rachel was still at the beach, looking around worriedly.
Jesse came walking up the beach. "Oh, hey!" He smiled. Rachel smiled back.
There was an awkward pause, before Rachel asked, "Are you waiting for Blaine?"
"Yeah. You waiting for Sam?" He asked.
"Yeah." Rachel said, shifting back and forth awkwardly.
***
“Alright, so we gotta get Rachel and Jesse together, we have to make them find out about Sue’s machine, and have them destroy it, before it destroys them." Sam explained to Blaine, the two never noticing an umbrella slowly sneaking up behind them.
"Oh no! We're talking in plot points!" Blaine groaned.
"Going somewhere?" Sue asked, making Blaine whirl around.
"Let's go!" Sam grabbed Blaine’s arm.
Brad shot a laser at them.
"You're not going anywhere!" Sue declared.
"I know karate!" Sam did a 'karate pose'.
Sue raised an eyebrow.
"..and like...two other Japanese words..." Sam admitted, before running at the two.
"Sam!" Blaine yelped as Brad shot another laser, which threw Sam back into the sand.
He landed with a grunt.
"Sam!" Blaine ran over to him, pulling him up into his arms.
"Oh he's fine. It was only on stun." Brad scoffed.
Sue looked at the gun. "Damn." She growled.
“Ow..." Sam groaned. Blaine helped him sit up.
"In the movie, that looked like it would hurt a whole lot less." He admitted.
"God, you're such an idiot." Blaine muttered, before hugging him tightly.
He turned to look at the two villains, worried about what would happen next.
****
"We're gonna surf." Rachel blurted out excitedly.
"What? You like to surf?" Jesse asked excitedly.
"I know! It's like riding a cloud. Except the cloud is water!" she said.
"No way! I said the same thing! Except, well...not right now." Jesse exclaimed.
"I know that bikers aren't supposed to like surfing, but I don't care." Rachel said, before gasping. "Oh my gosh. I don't care."
"You don't? Hey, you know what?" Jesse asked.
"No, I don't know that either." Rachel smiled.
“I've always wanted to ride a motorcycle." Jesse admitted.
"Are you serious?" Rachel asked.
"No, I'm Jesse." Jesse responded, a bit confused.
"I grew up riding." Rachel told him.
"Is that why you're as stunning as a moon, lighteth up a day?" Jesse said in his deep voice.
"Who said that?" she asked, in awe.
"I just did." he grinned.
"Wow.." Rachel said, slightly dazed. "I really like your low voice."
"Thanks." he said. "I can do HIIIIIGH too." He sang in a high-pitched tone, making Rachel jump.
"You know, who would have thought that a Biker and a Surfer could have so much in common?" She grinned.
"Not me." They said in unison.
"Stop!" They again said in unison.
"Okay, I'll stop." Unison again.
The two stood by each other, reveling in their newfound similarities and liking for each other.
Rachel turned to Jesse. "Did you ever think that maybe the person you thought was perfect for you, isn't as perfect for you as the perfect person for you?"
"You mean, you?" he asked softly.
"And...you." she looked up at him. Then she turned and began to sing.
"Oh I know, I know he's out there, most definitely!"
"Maybe you've already met, the one you'll never forget."
Jesse joined in.
"Your meant to be."
The two sang in unison, smiling at each other.
Suddenly, the two were separated by a group of people dancing.
"Jesse? Jesse!" Rachel called out. He looked around, trying to find her in the crowd of people.
Rachel hopped up on a rock. "Jesse! Come here!" She called.
Jesse ran up to the rock, just as Rachel slipped, catching her in his arms, just as he was meant to do at Big Mommas.
"When it's meant to be! You go kinda crazy."
The two sang as Jesse set Rachel down.
"Meant to be you forget your own name. When it's meant to be, that's destiny calling."
she leaped up on the rock again, Jesse following and lifting her in his arms.
"And nothing will ever be the same!"
Jesse dipped her down.
The two leaned in, their noses touching, as everyone danced below them on the beach.
Jesse twirled Rachel around and pulled her close. The two swayed back and forth for a second before Jesse leaped off the rock in a spectacular fashion.
She climbed down off the rock, and the two ran towards each other. They were just about to kiss, when...
"Wait!" Rachel pulled back, the music stopping abruptly. "What are we gonna tell Blaine and Sam?"
"Yeah. Where are they anyway?" Jesse looked around. Then he spotted the flower crown on the sand.
He gasped, bending down and picking it up. "I gave that to Blaine, he was wearing it."
"Then why did he take it off?" Rachel asked worriedly.
"Something's not right." He said.
The two posed in various thinking poses, before gasping.
"We need to get help!" Rachel declared, the two running off hand in hand.
****
Up in the lighthouse, Brad pulled a lever, smiling evilly, before getting shocked by laying his arm on the lever.
Sue was pointing the laser gun at the two ‘heroes’, who were tied to the weather machine. "In mere moments, less time than it takes for me to steal this scene..."
She was interrupted by Brad sneeze.
"This weather machine will change the weather patterns, I shall take possession of Big Mumma's..." She continued.
"Big Mommas!" Brad interjected.
Sue gave him a dirty look. "...and all your friends will disappear forever, or longer!"
"Yeah, well, there's one flaw to your plan." Blaine told them smugly.
"Oh really? And what might that be?" Sue bent down.
Blaine looked at Sam, who shrugged. He looked back at Sue. "I don't know. Isn't there always one flaw with these kind of plans?"
"Well, I'm off to measure the beach for a resort parking lot!" Sue grinned, as Brad pulled out the ruler from a measuring tape.
The two began laughing manically in turn, before Sue got angry and pushed the button on the measuring tape.
"Ow!" Brad whined.
"Hah!" Sue got the last laugh, before walking off, Brad trailing behind.
****
Rachel and Jesse ran down the steps and onto the stage in Big Mommas.
"Everyone listen!" Jesse called.
The surfers and bikers turned to face him.
"Sue wants to destroy us!" Rachel exclaimed.
"She’s built a weather.." Jesse noticed he still had the flower crown, and threw it off to the side, where it disappeared, because, movie magic.
"..a weather machine that will stop the tide." he finished.
"And rust all of our bikes." Rachel added.
"Just to get rid of us!" Jesse said.
"Plus, he has Blaine and Sam held captive in a secret location!" Rachel explained worriedly.
"And we don't know where it is because it's….a secret!" They finished in unison.
"Oh Lordy!" June exclaimed.
"We need your help." Rachel pleaded.
"Us or them?" Hunter asked.
"Us!" Ryder stood up.
"I think she meant us." Puck corrected.
"You meant them?" Jake said, betrayed.
"Or did you mean them?" Hunter pointed.
Everyone stood up and began arguing.
"I mean all of us!" Rachel yelled over the argument.
"Our only hope is to work together, free our friends, and destroy that weather machine before it destroys our world!" Jesse said, heroically looking off into the distance as triumphant music played in the background.
“But why should we do anything with them?" Hunter asked with contempt.
"We didn't want to do anything with you first." Jake shot back.
Everyone began to argue again.
"Together we can help each other!" Jesse explained.
"Yeah, well, why should we listen to you?" Hunter yelled.
Jesse sighed. "Look, I never thought I'd have anything in common with a Biker. That is..until I took a ride with one." He looked at Rachel, who smiled hopefully at him.
"In fact, all that fighting ever did for us, was stop us from seeing what we all have in common." Rachel realized.
"Big Mommas, the beach, and..." Jesse took Rachel’s hand in his own, and lifted it for everyone to see. "Us."
Hunter, with a furious look on his face, made his way up to the stage.
Rachel gasped in fear and the two separated.
Hunter walked right up to Jesse. Everyone looked at them, the tension thick.
Hunter raised his hand, and Rachel gasped again, wincing.
But Hunter actually used his hand to wipe his eyes from tears. He sniffed and waved his hands in the air.
Rachel offered him a handkerchief and he took it, wiping his other eye.
Everyone in the room softened.
Hunter threw the handkerchief off stage. He held out his hand to Jesse, who took it and shook it.
Hunter turned to Rachel, who was smiling from ear to ear. He took her hand. "I love you, sis." He told her. She nodded in understanding.
Hunter took Jesse’s hand as well. "Now let's do this!" He declared. "Together!" All three said in unison, raising their clasped hands.
"Together!" Everyone cheered.
"Hallelujah!" June praised.
Everyone ran out of Big Mommas, except for Rachel, who was standing with her hand out expectantly.
Jesse came running back in, grabbed her hand, and pulled her along. They were off to save Sam and Blaine!
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
Back at the lighthouse, Sue stood at the very top and put her telescope up to her eye. She saw the group of surfers and bikers running towards her. She growled.
****
"Well, it could be worse," Sam said after another failed escape attempt. "At least my favorite movie wasn't Tarantulas on a Train."
Blaine snorted at that, bouncing on his knees, full of energy.
"Okay, you've officially lost it." Sam decided.
"If we hadn't come here, I'd be on the plane right now, heading to some...private school to become something I really don't want to be." he admitted.
"You don't, do you?" Sam realized.
"You know, I've spent this entire movie telling Rachel, to follow her heart, and do what she loves, and she did. She's more courageous than I am." Blaine sighed.
"That's not true. You're braver than anyone I know." Sam said seriously.
Blaine looked away and smiled.
"So you're glad we came," Sam said, still a bit confused.
"I couldn't be more glad," Blaine admitted. "It's like, I'm tied up, but at the same time, I've never felt more free. You were right. What's the hurry to grow up? When I could be stuck in 1962 with you." Blaine looked up at Sam, who gave him the biggest smile.
“When it's meant to be. The stars seem to glisten."
Blaine began to sing.
"Meant to be, all clouds the depart. When it's meant to be."
Sam joined in.
"It's destiny calling." Sam smiled at him.
"And if you listen, you'll find your heart." Sam and Blaine joined hands, as he leaned his head on Sam’s shoulder.
Brad, totally ruining the moment, came in and said, "We only have one loose screw left, and then we will be ready to change the world!" he tightened the magnet.
"Do you really wanna do this?" Sam asked. "Ruin the lives of all these people?"
"Just because you can magnify the power of nuclear plutonium by 647 degrees, doesn't mean you have to," Blaine added.
"What?" Sam looked surprised.
"What? Like I never paid attention while watching the movie?" Blaine scoffed.
Brad got up in Blaine’s face, making him gasp. Sam tried moving forward to protect him.
"How did you know that? Who are you?" Brad narrowed his eyes.
"We're from the future, and you're not real. You're just a villain in a movie we got stuck in somehow." Blaine said matter-of-factly.
"No!" Brad said, disbelievingly.
"Yep." Sam shrugged.
"I'm nothing but a, flicker on a silver screen?" Brad gasped.
"Yeah, pretty much." Sam nodded.
"BAD NEWS! BAD NEWS! BAD NEWS!" Sue came rushing in. "The surfers and the bikers have united together in order to destroy us and save you two!"
"How is that bad news?" Blaine asked excitedly.
"Bad news for you!" Sam laughed.
“Brad?" Sue stared off into the distance. "It's time."
After a beat of awkward silence, as everyone just stood there, Sue yelled, "The machine, man!" Springing Brad into action.
Brad hurried up to the machine, pulled each lever, and pressed two black buttons, before finally hitting one big red button.
A purple ray of lightning struck from the top of the lighthouse, drawing the attention of the surfers and bikers.
"Look, a ray! That must be where they are!" Jesse pointed.
Hunter stopped and held his arms out in front of the group. "I gotta be honest with you. I'm not big on lighthouses." He admitted. "It's kinda a thing. For some people it's snakes, for some it's heights. For me, it's lighthouses." He tried to make a run for it, but Jake caught him.
"You can do this. We're all with you. What do you say?" Jake placed a hand on Hunter’s shoulder.
"Whoa! My fear is gone!" Hunter exclaimed. "Let's go!" He declared.
Everyone cheered and started moving, while Hunter stayed put. Luckily, Kitty stayed behind to catch him trying to bolt.
The group ran into the lighthouse and started running amok. Sue and Brad hid behind their machine.
"Rachel!" Sam called.
"Jesse?" Blaine said, confused.
"Blaine!" Rachel said in relief.
"Sam!" Jesse exclaimed.
"Problem!" Sue popped up behind the two and ran away.
"We are here to save you!" Rachel declared.
Sam and Blaine’s mouths dropped open as Jesse and Rachel smiled at each other.
Brad ran up to the edge of the platform with a bunch of papers, and caught Santana’s eye, standing at the chalkboard with all the equations, who winked at her.
Brad got a little flustered and blushed.
Santana’s sweet expression soured, and she held up an eraser.
Brad’s face turned from flustered into disbelief, as Santana and Jake began to erase all the equations.
"No! No! No!" Brad yelped as a female biker ran up and snatched the papers from Brad’s grasp. He ran after the biker.
“Look at that, Sam. They got together all by themselves." Blaine smiled at Sam.
"We're here to save you!" Jesse said happily, finally tearing his gaze from Rachel.
Blaine jerked his head towards the ropes holding his wrists, indicating to get moving then!
"Oh, yeah!" Jesse and Rachel ran to their sides and began untying.
Sue was being chased around the platform when she ran into Brittany, who was shaking her hips violently
Sue yelped and tried to turn around, but was met with a group of surfers and bikers, so she just ran.
Jesse and Rachel managed to get Sam and Blaine untied, as chaos still filled the evil lair.
"Hey!" Quinn yelled at Sue, who turned around.
Quinn smirked and held up some rope. Sue’s eyes widened.
Quinn tossed one end of the rope to Ryder, who smiled nuttily at the evil woman.
Sue yelped as Quinn giggled, and the two began to chase him.
Everyone tried to break the weather machine, some trying harder than others.
"We can't break this thing apart!" Ryder sounded defeated.
"Wait! This motor isn't much different than a four-stroke, 500 CC, flat-twin, air-cooled Wankel with shaft final and rear-wheel drive!" Rachel realized. "The kind you guys refurbish all the time!"
"She's right! But it's too hard to get to without taking the whole thing apart, especially with these sausage fingers." Hunter said.
"Not for me it isn't." Rachel grinned, taking a bobby pin out of her hair. She stuck the pin into the machine. It sparked, and she yelped, losing her footing.
"Sis, watch out!" Hunter yelled.
Rachel fell off, landing perfectly in Jesse’s arm, just like she was meant to an hour ago.
Sam and Blaine grinned at each other.
Suddenly, a siren began to blast.
"Oh look out, this whole thing's gonna blow! Let's get out of here!" Hunter exclaimed.
The machine began to smoke, and everyone began to run, leaving Sue and Brad tied up in front.
"I can't even imagine a scenario where this works out well for us," Sue said worriedly.
"Nope." Brad swallowed.
The machine blew up, launching the two villains into the air.
Later on, standing on a floating piece of the balcony, with torn clothes and the lightning bolt part of their machine, Brad commented, "I'm not sure I like the way this movie ends."
"Movie? What movie?" Sue asked, confused.
"Glad you asked. It seems we're all in this movie, and we're the villains." Brad explained.
"Intriguing." Sue said. “Tell me more,"
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
Suddenly, Sam and Blaine were back in front of Big Momma's, without knowing how the hell they got there.
"What is this?" Blaine looked down to see their clothes had changed again.
"It's exactly where we're supposed to be." Sam smiled.
"The movie's back on track." Blaine realized.
"Yeah!”
"We can leave." Blaine said, surprised to hear his sad tone of voice.
"There they are! You did it!" The two whirled around to see the surfers and bikers running up the beach.
"Of course! 'Cause we can do anything." Rachel declared.
"We..gotta get back home." Sam told her sadly.
"What?" Rachel asked, confused. "No, stay. You'll love it here! It's always just like this. Perfect."
"Perfect." Jesse repeated, taking Blaine’s hand.
"Yeah, well where we're going, it's perfect too." Blaine smiled at him. "I'm gonna make sure of it."
He looked at Sam, who smiled at him brightly.
"Hey! You guys saved Big Momma's, and for that, we are, to you, gratefully grateful." Hunter said, his grammar a bit off but his heart was in the right place.
"Ever since you guys got here, it's been like...it's been a different world." Rachel admitted.
"It's not just because of us." Blaine said truthfully.
"Oh!" Rachel took off her flower necklace and put it around Blaine’s neck. Blaine found himself fighting back tears. Rachel was like his sister. He was going to miss her. "Friendship forever." he sniffed.
"Forever." Rachel was similarly misty-eyed.
"Yeah." Blaine pulled Rachel into a hug, letting the tears fall down his face.
As the two pulled away, Ryder walked up with the surfboard, Sam going to grab it.
"C'mere." Jesse pulled a still teary-eyed Blaine into a hug as well. "Cowabunga." He said, making him laugh.
"You sure you're ready?" Sam asked Blaine.
"Yeah." Blaine nodded.
The storm began to rumble.
The two joined their hands. "Let's go." Sam told him.
The surfers and the bikers waved to their friends as they ran into the ocean, hand in hand.
They turned around to wave goodbye one last time.
"Surf's up!" Ryder yelled. Everyone cheered and began to run towards the ocean as the two heroes began to walk in.
The storm began, wreaking havoc on the waves. The two began to paddle out.
"That's the one." Sam looked back at a huge wave.
"Yeah. You ready?" Blaine asked.
"Absolutely. Let's go." Sam and Blaine began to paddle for their lives.
"Paddle, paddle! Go, go, go, go, go!"
Back in their world, the surfboard popped up out of the waves. A couple of seconds later, so did Sam and Blaine.
"You okay?!" Sam asked.
Blaine gasped for air, touching his hair. "Wet! Wet!"
"What?" Sam asked, confused.
"No, not what, wet! My hair, it's wet!" Blaine exclaimed.
"Your hair is wet! It's a wet, beautiful, curly mop!" Sam grinned, running his fingers through his boyfriend’s hair.
Blaine grinned back.
"And, look, no time has passed. It's exactly as we left!" Sam pointed out.
Everyone was milling on the beach, looking for the two surfers.
"We did it." Blaine said happily.
"And now you have the chance to surf one of the biggest waves that ever hit the beach." Sam pointed out. "And I promise I won't try and save you."
“Hey, if I needed saving, I'd want it to be you." Blaine smiled sweetly.
Sam felt his heart flip, and the two embraced each other, so glad to be home.
"Go shred that wave, babe.” Sam ordered.
Blaine laughed and the two swam their separate ways.
Blaine swam to his surfboard and got on top.
Sam swam to the jet ski and climbed on. He looked back at Blaine, who was straddling his surfboard. Sam winked at him and drove off.
Blaine shook his head and chuckled.
He looked down at his surfboard and caressed the flower as it glowed. He looked down at Rachel’s necklace and tucked it into his wetsuit for safekeeping.
Blaine looked back at the monster wave and began to paddle. As the wave began to overtake him, he slowly began to stand up and surf the wave.
As the wave covered him completely, the beachgoers groaned, assuming he wiped out again.
But then he appeared, riding out the wave. He whooped with glee as he did what he loved to do.
Everyone began to cheer and ran up to congratulate him as he ran up the beach.
Sam burst through the crowd, and the couple hugged.
"Blaine!" Frank hurried over.
Blaine cringed a bit, half expecting a lecture.
"Bumblebee. That was outstanding!" Frank exclaimed.
Blaine grinned. "Thanks, Grandpa."
As he handed over his board, Bea came over. "Blaine!"
"Do you know what you've done?" She asked angrily. "We are late for our flight, late for registration, totally off schedule, and all so you..."
"Aunt Bea, I love you." Blaine interrupted. "And Mom and Dad would be so happy that you care so much. But I think you've been wrong."
Bea looked confused.
“I mean, Mom wouldn't want me to be successful like you. She'd want me to be happy doing what I love like you are doing what you love. But it's not what I love." Blaine explained.
"I...I'm trying to read between the lines. I.." Bea trailed off.
"I wanna stay here for high school. I wanna be with Sam. I wanna surf more." Blaine said, making Sam light up. "And, later, I don't know what. But the thing is, I don't have to know. And when I do decide, it'll be my choice."
Sam smiled, proud of his boyfriend for sticking up for himself.
"Fine." Bea sighed after a moment. "Have it your way."
Blaine smiled, giggling a little.
"You are headstrong, like your grandpa." Bea sighed.
Frank shrugged.
"You know that is the nicest thing you could've said." Blaine laughed.
"Aw." Frank was touched.
Blaine hugged his aunt tightly as Frank and Sam hugged in the background.
"You know what we should do?" Sam asked mischievously.
Blaine nodded. "Surf-" he began, and Sam interrupted, "Sing!" He pulled him away as music started up.
“Everybody's diggin' on the rays of the summer sun!"
Blaine sang.
"Sun!"
"The sand and the waves are made for havin' fun!"
"Fun!"
"
Grab your boy or girl and hold on tight!"
Sam grabbed Blaine’s hand and twirled him around.
"Tight!"
"Hip cats, hot dogs, yeah we're so out of sight!"
"Sight!"
"Are you ready? Ready Freddy? Ready Steady? Let's go!"
Everyone sang together.
"It's a summer paradise, cruisin' with the boys and girls! Surfing day and night! Everybody shoot the curl! Hang five, keep it alive, and then you drop down low, all toes to the nose. Hang ten, hot doggin' again, let's go! Ahh, surf's up!"
"There's no doubt about who's number one!"
Sam sang.
"One!"
"'Cause when we boogie, we boogie second to none!"
"None!"
"We rock on the beach and on the waves we roll!"
"Roll!"
"Feel it in your feet, in your heart, and in your soul!"
Sam finger gunned at Blaine.
"Soul!"
"Are you ready? Ready Freddy? Ready Steady? Let's go!"
Everyone sang.
"It's a summer paradise, cruisin' with the boys and girls! Surfing day and night, everybody shoot the curl. Hang five, keep it alive, and then you drop down low, all toes to the nose. Hang ten, hot doggin' again, let's go, ahhh!"
Everyone began to do choreography with pieces of cardboard painted like waves.
"It's a summer paradise, cruisin' with the boys and girls. Surfing day and night, everybody shoot the curl. It's a summer paradise, cruisin' with the boys and girls, surfing day and night, everybody shoot the curl. Hang five, keep it alive, and then you drop down low, all toes to the nose. Hang ten, hot doggin' again, let's go! Ohhh, surf's up!"
Sam pulled Blaine close while the people around them continued to dance and sing, Blaine’s arms around the Blondes neck, and the latters’ around his waist. Content at last.
