The Impossible Choice

Katsuki stood still as he watched the chaos around him continue on without him. He stood in the center of it all but the air around him was eerily calm. His eyes met Deku’s across from him standing slightly above on a pile of debris, his smile drawn horribly wide. Katsuki knew this day would come, knew that Deku would want to fight him, to retaliate, but he didn’t know it would be this soon. He figured he had time. Katsuki was very, very wrong.“I’m going to give you some choices Kacchan! There are only two and if you don’t choose well then I guess I will. Trust me Kacchan, you don’t want me to choose,” Deku spoke above the chaos around them, walking forward as if this was a normal, civil conversation. Like the city around them wasn’t crumbling.“What are these stupid choices I have to make, Deku? Don’t you have better things to do, like protecting your precious league buddies?” Katsuki spat. Deku’s head bent slightly to the side, a look of curiosity resting on his face.“My “League Buddies” as you call them are quite capable of taking care of themselves I’m pretty happy to say.” he replied with a wide grin. “But that’s beside the point. Your first choice Kacchan is to come join me, work for me, as payment for your transgressions or,”“You can’t be fucking serious!” Katsuki growled as his fists tightened, nails digging into his burning palms. Deku’s eyes darkened and his smirk fell. Katuski winced at the sudden change in atmosphere. He still couldn’t hold his temper, even with the threat looming over him and all around.“Don’t interrupt me Kacchan,” Deku said coldly. “You can answer when I’ve finished talking. It’s amazing how all those beating from your mother never instilled a sense of manners and respect, but I digress. As I was saying, come work for me Kacchan, repay me the debt that you owe me, or your boyfriend dies.”Kacchan stared at him open mouthed. His options were to be a villain or Kirishima gets killed? “Those are shitty options, Deku!” he screamed at the green haired boy.“Well I never said they were good options for you, just that they were the options. Those are the only two you're getting so I suggest choosing wisely,” Deku said with a shrug. Katsuki was getting irritated with the whole thing. Why was he having this conversation when he could just be killing stupid Deku.He started to move forward, hands crackling, when Deku laughed. “That’s not one of the options, Kacchan.” He let out a piercing whistle and a nomu came sweeping out of the sky, Kirishima clasped in its claws, unconscious. “Let’s go over this again since you're having such a hard time remembering, hm. Either you pay off your debts on your own or Kirishima pays off your debts. Your choice.”Katsuki stuttered to a halt. What was he supposed to do now? Should he try to run? He couldn’t do that, he would be leaving Shitty hair behind. Should he go along and hope the heroes can find him in time to save him? That might be an option, but knowing Deku he already has a plan to keep him hidden far away where he would never be found.“What debt could he possibly owe you? This is so not manly dude!” Kirishima exclaimed as he finally shifted in the nomu’s hold trying to get free.“Oh, look!,” Deku exclaimed excitedly, looking between Katsuki and Kirishima. “Our audience is awake, Kacchan.”Katsuki made eye contact with Kirishima and his heart stuttered. “Shut up, Shitty hair. It’s none of your damn business what I owe him,” he ground out. Kirishima looked at him with shock and hurt written on his face. Katsuki didn’t want to yell at him, didn’t mean to really, but he needed him to be quiet and not draw the nerd’s attention.“Well you see, dear Eijiro. Can I call you Eijiro? I’m going to call you Eijirio. Well you see Eijiro, Kacchan and I go way back,” he chirped with a smile. Katsuki growled at the statement but stood stock still hoping whatever game he was playing now didn’t get Eijiro hurt. “We’ve known each other since we were babies really. Our parents are still friends, in fact.”Katsuki huffed and darted his eyes away. “Do you want me to make this stupid choice or not?” he called out hoping to draw his attention away from the red head. “What are we drawing this out for?”“You were the one drawing this out before, Kacchan. So I’ll do what I want because I think your sweet boyfriend here deserves to know the truth, don’t you?”Katuski stared at the green haired boy and then over to Eijiro who looked confused. “I can show you the debt he owes me if you want Eijiro, but answer me this. Weren’t you bullied in middle school, elementary school even?”Kirishima just stared at him bewildered, long since given up or trying to pry himself loose from the monster's grip. “Shut up, Deku!” Katsuki shouted but the green boy paid him no mind. “I’ve heard from multiple sources that you can’t stand bullies.” Deku began slowly undressing first his jacket, thrown to the ground with no care. Then his buttons slowly as he looked over at a horror struck Katsuki. “This is the debt he owes me,” he shouted as he threw his shirt to the ground beside his jacket.Deku’s scars stood out even in the settling dust around them. White and pink handprints and starburst scars littered his back, arms, and neck. Katsuki looked away in shame, his nails digging into his palms. “Bakubro would never,” he heard Kirishima yell at the small boy.“No?” Deku questioned curiously. “Then why don’t you ask him? Go on, ask him if he burned me. Ask him if he cut me, bruised me, and broke me! Ask him if he told me to jump off a roof and hope for a quirk in my next life! Go on! Ask!”Katsuki could feel Eijiro’s red eyes bearing down, burning into him, deep into his soul. “Is it true, Katsuki? Did you do those awful things?” the red hair boy choked out. Katsuki glanced up at him with imploring eyes. He opened his mouth to answer, but nothing would come out, so he simply nodded. He watched Kirishima’s heart break and shatter into a million pieces. He saw him look back up at the green haired boy with sadness and with pity. Then he looked back at Katsuki, tears forming in crimson eyes. “How could you do that?” he cried. “How could you do that to another human being?”“Because he’s a quirkless deku who needed to learn his place,” he growled as he made eye contact with the smirking green villain once again. “How do you expect me to pay this imaginary debt then Deku.”“See I think I’ve made my stance very clear on that one, Kacchan. Stop making me repeat myself.” he stated nonchalantly.Katsuki closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He had accepted his fate as soon as Kirishima’s eyes had darted away from him with shame. He couldn’t even look at him anymore, there was nothing left for him here, Deku had made sure of that. “Fine, Deku. I’ll come with you, just leave him alone.” Then thought better of it and ground out, “Please.”A portal appeared behind Deku swirling black creating enough wind to ruffle the green hair around his face. “Come along then, Kacchan, we have rules to go over.” Katsuki shuffled forward, his head hung low. “You’re mine now,” Deku whispered. Katsuki turned to glance at Kirishima’s horror stricken face before he was sucked in. His fate in the hands of the person who hated him most.
