Atsumu sighed as he scrubbed his hands through his hair, leaning against a wall of the volleyball court. With his boyfriend's cousin, Komori, still in the shower, he felt restless and bored. It was October 30th, and a brilliant idea struck him: why not throw a Halloween party? His brother had already volunteered to prepare all the food, while one of his partners was in charge of the dessert and another would handle the decorations. To add to the spooky atmosphere, Atsumu had decided to rent a huge cave for the festivities. He and one of his boyfriends had meticulously cleaned it, and now he was impatiently waiting for Komori to hurry up. He had the guest list ready and had driven here in his car, so he couldn't just leave without his ride. After about thirty minutes, Komori finally emerged from the shower, and Atsumu felt a surge of irritation but decided against arguing. After all, Komori had been the one to drive him here and had played volleyball with him earlier. With a fake smile, Atsumu began gathering their belongings. Komori drove them all the way to Atsumu’s partner's house, and from there, they headed into the forest for the cave.As they navigated the dimly lit trail, they seemed to get a bit lost. Atsumu squinted into the shadows and muttered, "Komori, I don’t think we're going the right way."Komori, slightly flustered, replied, "Yeah, I think we’ve been walking in circles. Call my cousin!"Rolling his eyes, Atsumu pulled out his phone, dialing his boyfriend and putting the call on speaker. "Omi, Omi! Where are you?"On the other end, Omi replied, "Did you follow the green path?"Atsumu suddenly snapped his fingers and shouted, "KOMORI, YOU GOT US ON THE WRONG PATH, YA DUMBASS!"With a sheepish grin, Komori turned around without another word and led them back to the green path. They hurried down the trail, laughter mixing with the autumn air until they made it as soon as they made it. Atsumu looked around for his boyfriend's screaming; "KAWA, TORU," and "OMI OMI" were filling the room. Iwaizumi was the first to turn around, and then Sakusa and Oikawa came after, and then Atsumu grabbed their hands, trying to bring them to the thing he saw.Well, somehow Komori was following also as they made it to something that look like a portal. Atsumu gazed at the shimmering portal, its edges swirling with an otherworldly energy that seemed to beckon him forward. A chill ran down his spine whether it was the crisp fall air or something otherworldly, he couldn't tell. The dark forest around them was closing in, the trees shifting into almost sinister forms as shadows danced upon the ground."Do you think we should really go in there?” Iwaizumi’s voice broke through the tension, his brow furrowed with concern. As the strong, protective type, Iwaizumi was always the one to think through their adventures carefully. Atsumu could see a flicker of hesitation in his boyfriend’s usually steady gaze."Come on, Iwa-chan," Oikawa chimed in dramatically, almost skipping towards the portal, "It’s Halloween! This could be the adventure of a lifetime!"Sakusa, who had been meticulously adjusting the straps of his backpack, piped up with a kind of nervous laugh, "And it could also be dirty and dangerous. We have no idea what’s on the other side." But even as he voiced his caution, his curiosity lingered palpably in the air.Atsumu exchanged an excited look with Komori, who seemed equally unable to resist the pull of the mysterious abyss before them. "Let’s just take a peek, okay? If it gets weird, we can come back. Promise!"With a deep breath, Atsumu stepped forward, drawn towards the portal’s mesmerizing light. The air thickened around him. Every instinct screamed for him to turn back, but the thrill of the unknown consumed him. Iwaizumi followed him reluctantly, while Oikawa practically floated into the portal. Sakusa, clearly conflicted, stayed rooted to the spot.Damn it," he muttered, finally stepping in to join his boyfriend and his cousin just as he clenched his fists in annoyance. "But if something goes wrong, I'm blaming all of you."The moment they crossed the threshold, a rush of cold wind swept over them, and the atmosphere shifted instantly. They found themselves in a dimly lit tunnel, walls lined with damp, cold stone. Strange echoes whispered around them, adding an eerie ambiance. Several flickering lights dangled from the ceiling, casting shadows that danced wildly as if alive.“Atsu, I don’t like this,” Oikawa murmured, gripping Atsumu’s arm. "This place feels… wrong."Suddenly, a sound echoed through the corridor—a soft scuttling, followed by a low, guttural growl that sent a shiver down Oikawa's spine. Atsumu's heart raced, the excitement now twisted into a sensation of dread."What was that?" Komori whispered, his voice barely a breath. He instinctively pressed closer to Atsumu, seeking comfort in the shared tension."I don't know, but it definitely didn’t sound friendly," Atsumu replied, trying to keep the panic out of his voice. "We should keep moving."As they traversed deeper into the tunnel, small drops of water dripped from the ceiling above. It gave the impression of being in a forgotten dungeon. After a few minutes of walking, they came upon an old, rusted door. The door was slightly ajar, creaking with the slightest breeze.Oikawa, always the thrill-seeker, pushed it open wider with a dramatic flair. “Boys, let’s see what secrets this place hides!” he declared, stepping into the dimly lit room beyond. They stepped inside, and their eyes widened at the scene before them. The room was filled with remnants of a long-abandoned laboratory. Old equipment lay scattered around—a tangle of wires, broken screens, and dark, stained floor tiles. It was gloomy and oppressive, the air thick with an unfamiliar, unsettling menace.“Something is really off here,” Sakusa admitted, wrinkling his nose at the stale air. “We should really just go back.”Just then, out of the corner of his eye, Atsumu spotted movement—a flicker of light coming from the far side of the room. Intrigued, he stepped forward to investigate, barely hearing the hushed warnings of his boyfriends behind him.As he neared the source of the light, Atsumu caught sight of three figures huddled in a corner, their faces pale as they stared back at him with wide, fearful eyes.“Who are you?” Atsumu called out, his voice echoing in the silence. The trio looked at each other and then back at him, confusion etched on their faces.“My name is Ray,” the boy with dark hair said cautiously. “And these are my friends, Emma and Norman.”The youth’s words held an urgent weight. “You shouldn’t be here. This place is dangerous.”“Dangerous?” Oikawa asked, excitement rippling through his voice. “What do you mean?”Ray shot him a annoyed look. “There are creatures—demons—down here. You should leave before they find you.”At that moment, a sound reverberated around them, the low growl from before now transforming into a chorus of snarls echoing from the darkness behind. The shadows began to shift, growing restless, twisting into something sinister.“What have you done?” Iwaizumi shouted, gripping Atsumu's arm harder as the tension thickened in the air.Komori stepped back, eyes wide with fear. “We need to get out of here. Now!”But it was too late. From the depths of the darkness, a hulking figure emerged, teeth sharp and glistening as the creature stepped into the dim light. Its eyes burned with an unholy ferocity, and it was followed—no, swarmed—by more creatures that whispered of hunger and malice.“Run!” Atsumu shouted, adrenaline driving the words out of his mouth as he turned towards the door they had entered through. The adrenaline pumped through their veins as they all scrambled back toward the exit. But not before Atsumu heard Ray yell one last command, “To the bunker! We can barricade ourselves there!”As they dashed through the darkened tunnel, the sound of claws scraping against the stone reverberated in their ears—each noise a reminder that they were being chased. Whatever was following them was hungry, and they needed to reach safety before it was too late.Stumbling forward, they flew into the twisting tunnels, hearts racing, but the sound of demonic growls grew louder and closer. Suddenly, the flickering lights above them began to flicker more violently, plunging them into dark moments of uncertainty. With every corner they turned, echoes of their name whispered through the walls, taunting them, biting at their heels. Shadows blurred around them—a frenzy of darkness pursuing them relentlessly.“No! This way!” Atsumu called, his voice barely above a whisper, as he dove into another walled path, desperation surging through him. They ran until they reached a heavy metal door, rusted and worn. Ray shoved against it, frantically knocking it open just wide enough for them to fit through. Atsumu pushed inside, the others following closely behind as they slammed the door shut just in time to hear the thud of claws against it.Breathless, the group collapsed against the walls of the bunker, their hearts racing. They stared at each other, a mix of fear and confusion on their faces.“Why were you guys down here?” Atsumu asked, still panting heavily.Emma looked at him, wide-eyed. “We’re trying to escape. There’s something much bigger out there, and it wants us all.”The atmosphere grew heavy with an underlying sense of dread. From beyond the door, the growls and scratching intensified, and the realization washed over them: they were trapped, surrounded by beasts that understood the taste of fear.Their fates intertwined as they pressed against the bunker’s walls, listening to the chaos threatening to consume them. They were deep within the underbelly of terror—a place where there was no clear way out, and the veil between worlds had been torn. The shadows shifted, and just beyond the barricaded door, something began to whisper back, its hollow voice sending a chill through the tight space they sheltered in.“Let us in…”And as the desperation peaked, the door groaned against the pressure from the other side, leaving them in sheer silence—an anticipatory precipice between their fragile lives and the horror waiting just outside.Atsumu felt a knot of fear tighten in his stomach as he realized they had stepped into something far beyond a simple Halloween adventure. The question lingered hauntingly in the air: Would they ever find their way back?
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
Chapter 2: The Darkness WithinAtsumu pressed his back against the cold metal wall of the bunker, every heartbeat resonating in the thick silence following the skittering sounds outside. The atmosphere inside was thick with dread; even the air felt agitated, charged with the tension that enveloped them. Ray, Emma, and Norman huddled close together, their faces pale and gaunt, echoing the fear that pulsed through the group.“What do we do now?” Komori whispered, his voice trembling as he peered at the door, trying to listen through the deafening silence, broken only by the ragged breaths of the others.Ray’s expression was grim as he ran a trembling hand through his messy hair. “We wait it out. But we have to be quiet. If they hear us…” He trailed off, leaving the end of his statement hanging in the air, filled with unspoken terror.“What do you mean by ‘them’?” Oikawa interjected, his voice wavering between curiosity and controlled panic. “What exactly are we dealing with? Demons? Ghosts?” He motioned animatedly, his usual charisma dimmed by the weight of the situation.“The creatures here… they’re not like anything you’ve seen before,” Norman said, glancing nervously at the door as if it might burst open at any moment. “They can sense fear and smell it from a distance. If they know you’re afraid…” His voice trailed off again, the implication clear as the shadows around them seemed to grow darker, more forbidding.Atsumu felt a mix of anger and frustration boiling within him. “We didn’t come all this way just to sit here and wait to be eaten!” he snapped, though it was more bravado than conviction.“Don’t be stupid!” Sakusa hissed back, pulling at the straps of his backpack as if it might offer him some security. “We need a plan. There has to be a way to escape.”Emma stepped forward, lifting her chin defiantly. “If we can find the main exit, it might lead us out of here. I've studied this place a little. There are maps hidden within the laboratory outside.”“Who would willingly come into a place like this and not prepare?” Iwaizumi asked, incredulous. “A fucking bunker in the middle nowhere? This is ridiculous!”“No, he’s right.” Atsumu placed his hand on Iwaizumi's shoulder, grounding himself. “If they can hear fear, what if we stay quiet and find a way to the exit before making any noise? We could really get out of here.”Ray hesitated but nodded in agreement. “If we can find a map, we might be able to figure out a safer route. There’s a room deeper in the bunker that might have some supplies.” He swallowed hard, glancing at the door. “But we have to be careful. Those creatures are already drawn to our fear.”“Let me lead,” Iwaizumi insisted, moving closer to them, his protective nature surfacing. “I’ll go first, stay behind me.”“Okay, just keep quiet,” Atsumu urged as the group shuffled into a tight formation. “Stay close.”With a final nod of determination, Iwaizumi placed his hand on the doorknob and turned it slowly, the rusty hinge creaking ominously. Atsumu felt nausea rise in his stomach as he pushed the door open just enough to slip through. The flickering lights of the previous room beckoned dimly ahead, revealing a longer corridor filled with debris. The air was thick with the scent of mold and dampness, and shadows seemed to writhe in the corners of their vision. Atsumu could feel every heartbeat pulsing in his ears as they cautiously made their way through the corridor.“Stay vigilant,” Norman murmured as he glanced behind them, paranoia lurking behind every movement. As they crept further into the depths of the bunker, it felt like time had lost all meaning. The fluorescent lights flickered intermittently, casting ghostly splices of illumination that illuminated revolting images—a broken armchair, shards of glass scattered across the floor, old research papers covered in dark stains. Each object seemed to pulse with its own life, the very atmosphere tinged with an unshakable sense of despair. After what felt like an eternity of creeping silence, they passed beneath a doorway marked with a faded sign: RESEARCH LAB 2. Atsumu felt a chill blot out the warmth of their fear; something primal stirred in his mind, warning him that they had crossed a line.Emma led the way, her flashlight beam cutting through the chaos ahead, lighting up shelves filled with dusty old files and flickering computer terminals. The scenery appeared as if a battle had been waged here, and the ghosts of past horrors still lingered in the air, refusing to let go.“I think there might be a map in here,” Emma said breathlessly, eyes darting back and forth. “If I remember correctly, there were schematics in one of these drawers.”They weaved through the scattered remnants of what had once been a thriving research lab, moving toward a large metal filing cabinet that loomed ominously against the far wall.Iwaizumi and Sakusa opened the drawers meticulously, rummaging through crumpled papers and overflowing boxes. The air felt charged, tinged with anxiety and the expectation of danger.“Got it!” Emma exclaimed suddenly, holding up a parchment with a wide grin that quickly faded as she noticed the tension creeping back around them. The map indicated an escape route through a series of tunnels branching off toward the surface.“This could work!” Ray pointed, tracing the lines with his finger. “If we move quickly, we should be able to follow this path and avoid detection from the main tunnel where the creatures are roaming.”But just as hope surged among the group, the shadows began to throb ominously. A deep pounding resonated through the bunker, growing louder with each passing moment. The creatures lurking in the tunnels were drawn to them, their guttural growls intensifying into a sinister cacophony of chaos.“They’re coming,” Norman said, eyes wide with terror. “We need to move—now!”“Which way?” Atsumu shouted, clutching Emma's shoulder as the world around them felt like it was closing in.“Follow me!” Emma ordered, darting out of the lab while clutching the map. They raced down another corridor, ignoring the shouts of their own hearts in their throats.Suddenly, the lights flickered more violently, and the shrieking sounds grew closer. Something began pounding against the walls, violent and unnerving, and it felt as though the threads of reality were loosening, threatening to unravel around them.“Oikawa, don’t look back!” Iwaizumi yelled as they ran, pulling him along to face forward. There was a weight in the air—one that pressed down with the anticipation of impending doom.“Why is this fucking happening?” Oikawa cried out, panic creeping into his laugh, his usual celebratory nature crushed under the weight of fear. “We were supposed to fucking have fun!”“Fun?” Atsumu clenched his jaw, forcing himself to focus as they raced forward, navigating the winding tunnels. “We can have fun later babe if we get out of here alive!”Finally, they burst into a wider hallway. The sound of thundering footsteps rumbled behind them, and the shaking of the ground mirrored their fear.“What now?” Komori panted, hair tousled from the frantic escape.Emma held the map tightly with trembling fingers as she scanned their options ahead, trying to regain her composure. “There should be a maintenance hatch up ahead! If we can get to it, we might find a way to escape!”“Keep moving!” Iwaizumi shouted again, pushing them all to sprint forward. As they ran down the corridor, the sensation of something relentless in pursuit intensified. The fingers of fear dug deeper into Atsumu’s psyche as desperation clawed at the edges of his confidence.Just as they reached the maintenance hatch, a loud crash echoed through the tunnel, the metal door slamming against the wall as a monstrous figure emerged from the darkness. It was pale, its body twisted and malformed; hollow eyes glinted with malice, and jagged teeth dripped with something unidentifiable.“Go! Go!” Atsumu urged as he shoved the maintenance hatch open with all his strength, panic pushing them forward into the dimly lit maintenance tunnel beyond. One by one, they stumbled inside, the hatch closing just in time as the creature collided with the door behind them, rattling the frame. Inside, the atmosphere was suffocating, thick with dust and neglect. The sounds of their racing hearts echoed in the confined space.“Keep running!” Ray urged, taking point as they surged down the maintenance staircase, its rickety steps groaning beneath their hurried feet.“Where is this going?” Atsumu shouted as panic gripped him tightly. He felt the shadows pressing closer, horrified whispers wrapping around him as if from nowhere.“Somewhere safer!” Ray panted. “If we can get to the bottom, there should be a way out!”With each step, Atsumu felt fragmented glimpses of panic clattering through him, the crushing weight of fear mingling with adrenaline. The sounds of heavy breathing surrounded him, and it began to feel like a dark symphony—the symphony of their doom. Finally, they reached a small landing that opened up into a larger chamber. The room felt like a forgotten mausoleum, lined with rusting pipes and shattered remnants of old machinery. Dim lights flickered above, casting eerie silhouettes that morphed and twisted further into the depths of their fears.“This way!” Emma shouted, adrenaline pushing her toward a narrow corridor at the back of the chamber, leading deeper into unknown darkness. As they huddled together, inching along the damp wall, silence pressed around them, dripping with a weight of anticipation. Each heartbeat echoed painfully in their ears. Atsumu’s instinct told him that they couldn’t remain quiet for long, but the fear kept him paralyzed.Suddenly, an ear-splitting shriek pierced the air, and the shadows stirred violently. A monstrous figure charged into the chamber, jaws snapping and claws reaching. The group scrambled back, but there was nowhere to retreat to.“Run!” Iwaizumi’s shout jolted Atsumu into action as they pivoted, veering down the narrow corridor that felt like a tight funnel, promising escape while offering madness at the same time. They barreled through the passage, sprinting on blindly. Every corner they turned felt like stepping closer to the embrace of something more ominous than death itself.“We can’t stop!” Atsumu gasped, forcing himself to keep pushing forward. But even as he urged his friends onward, panic burrowed into his chest, gnawing away their hope.Yet, amidst the chaos, hope flickered anew as they spotted a faint light ahead, spilling in from yet another opening they could barely see from a distance.“Keep going!” Norman yelled, his voice a beacon of urgency. They surged ahead, hearts pounding with renewed determination. But the light wasn’t a safe haven; it illuminated a makeshift barricade composed of shattered shelves and metal scraps, a desperate attempt to hold back the oncoming tide of darkness.“Stop!” Time froze as Atsumu caught sight of two shadowy figures standing near the barricade. They looked frightened and disheveled, eyes wide in horror as they held makeshift weapons—a few pipes and broken chairs, their expressions painted with desperation.“Who are you?” one called out, fear evident in his voice.Emma’s eyes widened in recognition, and she rushed forward to the two figures. “We need your help! We’re being chased!”Just then, a rumbling groan echoed from the darkness behind them. The shadow creatures flanked their position; their guttural growls became a chorus of yearning hunger.“Move!” the two newcomers barked as they rushed to help remove debris from their barricade. They worked with the frantic energy of those who understood the value of time and daylight in a place swallowed by the abyss.Atsumu could feel the oppressive weight of darkness closing in around them, every second that passed felt like an hour. He shoved aside a plank as adrenaline coursed through him, driving him to fight against all odds.“Now!” Iwaizumi yelled, helping haul the makeshift barricade aside. Just as they finished, a creature lunged forward, and the group recoiled in horror. In one swift motion, Atsumu dove through the opening, dragging Emma with him. The others followed with jagged breaths, collapsing over the threshold as Iwaizumi slammed the door behind them, locking it shut against the horrific growls that echoed just outside. For a few breathless moments, silence enfolded them, the pounding of their hearts echoing in the sudden quiet. A strange, flickering light illuminated the next realm they stepped into, revealing a cramped room filled with old charts, maps, and tools—far more organized than the chaos they just left behind.“What is this place?” Atsumu breathed, glancing around. The walls were lined with various drawings and writings that seemed to document nightmares, a history swallowed by darkness.“I think it’s an old control room,” one of the newcomers replied, a girl with tangled green hair and fierce determination in her voice, “for monitoring activities in the bunker. It should give us some information on what we’re dealing with.”“Name’s Don,” the boy next to her added, panting slightly. “We know this bunker like the back of our hands. But we first need to secure this room. There’s bound to be valuables in here.”“Whatever we do, we need to work together,” Atsumu urged, the previous rush of adrenaline settling into a cautious resolve. “We may not get another chance.”As they quickly rifled through the room, collecting supplies and tools to fortify their position, Atsumu wondered if they had truly escaped the horrors that pursued them or merely pushed them down another darkening path. The flickering lights danced overhead, casting a ghostly glow on the faces of his friends who were all too aware of what lay beyond. In the dim space, he could feel the weight of their plight pressing against him. The darkness was alive, and they were its prey.“Whatever happens next, we’ll face it together, right?” he reassured, but even he could feel the uncertainty laced into his words echoing back.As they finished fortifying the room, apprehension settled down like a heavy fog. They had survived yet another harrowing escape, but the shackles of their fear tightened. There was a silence in the air, but it was laced with a tinge of expectancy—the inevitable arrival of terror. As the shadows flickered impatiently, there was a sense that whatever watched from the darkness was only biding its time, waiting for the perfect moment to strike back.“Are we ready to face what comes next?” Atsumu asked, trying to keep the desperation from his voice as they grouped together, for there was no more running, no more avoiding the storm that had been unleashed around them. The response was a mix of nods and drawn breaths, a silent acknowledgment that they would stand together against whatever horror awaited them. Little did they know, conditions were far direr than they realized, and the shadows held far more secrets than they could have imagined. As the shadows outside crept around the door with an eerie patience, their fate felt impossibly tethered to the darkness—the whispers growing louder, more insistent as they questioned the strength of their resolve.“Let’s find out what’s happening here,” Iwaizumi murmured, and with quiet determination burning deep within their hearts, the decision was made.Together, they approached an old terminal in the center of the room, their minds set on uncovering the truth hidden in the darkness.Ray reached out, fingers trembling, and pressed the button on the terminal. The screen flickered to life, displaying lines of code that made no sense to Atsumu, every flicker echoing like a heartbeat against their anxious souls.“What is this?” Norman asked, leaning in closer, focusing on the screen.“It looks like old surveillance footage,” Ray replied, voice barely above a whisper as he navigated the menus. “If we can tap into the feed, maybe we can see what’s happening outside these walls.”Atsumu's heart raced. What horrors awaited them in the wide expanse beyond their sanctuary? The idea both intrigued and terrified him; a mix of fear and knowledge dancing in the pit of his stomach.Suddenly, a grainy image flickered onto the screen, and the group leaned closer to stare at the footage. It showed the very corridors they had fled from, empty but for the shifting shadows. The dim fluorescent lights flickered helplessly, casting distorted shapes on the walls that seemed to whisper ancient secrets.“There!” Emma pointed as a flash of movement darted past the camera. “What was that?”The others strained to see, and Atsumu felt a knot of dread tighten in his gut. The shadows morphed and twisted, curling like smoke as if breathing life into whatever lay beyond.A heavy claw emerged briefly, retreating back into the darkness, and Atsumu’s heart thundered against his ribcage. The claws were menacing and twisted, dripping with ichor. Each movement they made generated a tangible fear that felt heavy in the air.“Okay, this is bad,” Sakusa exclaimed, backing away slightly from the screen, his anxiety and mysophobia creeping into every line of his body. He put his bookbag down and dug through it and found his pills and took two.Just then, the feed switched to another angle, showing a part of the bunker he didn't recognize—a dark, expansive chamber filled with grotesque machinery. The machinery pulsed with a sickening rhythm, as if it were alive; ominous cables fed into dark masses that writhed and shifted within.“What is that?” Norman asked, his voice trembling as he steadied himself against the wall, visibly shaken by the sight.“That’s what they do,” Don said slowly, gaze fixated on the screen. “They’re not just monsters—they’re experiments. This was a research facility filled with… whatever that is.”The chamber threatened to envelop them all in an endless night filled with nightmares that had long been kept at bay. Atsumu’s stomach twisted, the reality of their situation crashing down onto him like an avalanche.Suddenly, the screen flickered once more, the darkness shifting, and the sound of dissonant wails echoed from the speakers. In the depths of the chamber, figures lay writhing and contorted; human-like shapes twisted beyond recognition, anguished faces a haunting reminder of their gruesome fate.A shudder ran through him, and it felt as if the very essence of life had been sucked from the room. “They’re… they’re trying to turn people into those things,” Atsumu murmured, horror overtaking his voice.“They’re feeding on their fear,” Emma added, her tone choking as the magnitude of the revelation sank in.A pause filled the atmosphere, heavy with dread as they exchanged terrified glances. The weight of their situation pressed cold and suffocating around them. But even in the face of such despair, a spark ignited in Atsumu’s chest. “We can’t let this happen! We need to stop this!” he exclaimed, determination rising in his voice like a flame against the dark.“No,” Norman said firmly, shaking his head. “We need to survive first. If those things are as intelligent as they seem, we’ll be their prey before long.”“How do we even begin to fight something like that?” Komori whispered, fear glimmering in his eyes.“There has to be a way to disrupt their operations,” Ray spoke up, steel creeping into his voice. “If we can gather what we need, see how they’re connected here, we might have a chance. But we have to act fast.”Atsumu felt a coursing energy run through him. “Okay, but we have to be careful. Let’s split up and check the surrounding rooms. If we can find weaponry or anything useful, we might stand a better chance.”“Let’s do it,” Iwaizumi declared, stepping forward confidently. “We’ll operate in pairs. Stay sharp, and we can regroup here.”They nodded in agreement, their resolve forged in the crucible of fear, propelling them into action, and the necessity of survival eclipsed all other thoughts. The threat around them felt as palpable as the air in their lungs—dark, oppressive, and unnervingly close. As they scattered into the adjacent rooms, Atsumu felt a wave of dread wash over him—but this time, it was tempered by the fire of purpose. In the dim corridors, he could feel the shadows creeping closer, waiting patiently, but he steeled himself.Atsumu and Iwaizumi found themselves in a small utility room littered with old equipment and tools—most broken and useless, but all remnants of the past that lingered like ghosts eternally lost.“You think we could use any of this?” Iwaizumi asked, rummaging through a nearby metal toolbox as the echo of their decisions weighed heavily.“Maybe…” Atsumu scanned the room, his heart racing as he spotted a nearby shelf overflowing with large metal tools. “These could work. If we can fashion something together—a weapon of sorts…”Just then, the echoes of distant snarls reverberated through the walls, the creatures lurking just outside their threadbare haven. The atmosphere crackled with tension, and time itself seemed to slow as Atsumu’s fingers brushed against a rusty pipe. It felt heavy and reassuring in his grip, awakening a suppressed courage within him.Iwaizumi nodded, taking his cue. They worked quickly, gathering anything they could find—old pipes, bits of metal, broken chairs, anything that could be weaponized. They fashioned a makeshift barricade at the door, reinforcing their position against whatever lurked beyond. As they finished, Atsumu could feel the shadows pressing closer. “Do you think we can hold them off?” Iwaizumi asked, voice low and tense.“Whatever happens, we fight together,” Atsumu affirmed, determination surging through him. “Besides, they can smell fear, but if we stand our ground, they might hesitate.”A shudder ran through the walls, and the shadows outside writhed, acknowledging their impending confrontation.Just then, a loud crash resonated from a nearby room, followed by frantic shuffling. Atsumu’s heart sank, and the adrenaline washed over him anew, creating a rush of energy.“Let’s go!” Iwaizumi shouted, pushing against the door to burst out of the utility room. The moment they stepped into the hallway, they met the chaos head-on.Shattered remnants of their surroundings were strewn across the ground, showing the telltale signs of a struggle—a broken chair, splintered wood, and scuttling shadows. From the corner of Atsumu’s eye, he spotted Norman and Emma, their eyes wide with disbelief, backed against the far wall as a creature circled them, lingering in the shadows like a predator.“Hey!” Atsumu shouted, brandishing his weapon. “Over here!”Distracted by the noise, the creature turned toward them, and Atsumu’s heart raced. Its twisted body was a mockery of a human form, skin peeling away to reveal layers of sinewy muscle. It screeched, a guttural sound echoing through the chamber as the air seemed to thrum with its anger.“Back away!” Iwaizumi yelled, charging forward with fierce determination. Atsumu mirrored his movement, barely registering the fear coursing through him. The battle instincts ignited; they surged forward, challenging the encroaching nightmare.Emma and Norman steadied themselves, holding a length of metal between them. “We need to distract it!” Norman shouted, his eyes darting nervously.“On three, we charge!” Atsumu commanded, adrenaline pushing them forward. “One… two… three!”With a collective roar, they closed the distance, lunging at the creature, the shadows writhing in anticipation of their strikes. In one swift motion, Atsumu swung the pipe he held. The metallic clang rang out louder than the agonizing wails from the creature. It staggered back, hissing in pain as Iwaizumi struck next, using the momentum to direct his blow into the soft underbelly of the beast. But the creature retaliated, snapping its jaws, baring teeth sharp enough to pierce flesh. It lunged toward Norman, who barely dodged out of the way. A near-miss, but the moans of anguish echoed around them, amplifying the chaos.“Keep moving! Don’t stop!” Atsumu yelled, scrambling to maintain his balance as the creature thrashed about. As they fought back, they pushed against the beast, the metal weapons connecting violently, each strike prompted not just by fear, but with a burning desire to survive against all odds.“Keep it distracted!” Emma shouted as she moved to grab a heavy table leg and trajectory it toward the creature. Each sound felt amplified—the gnashing of teeth, the thrumming of hearts, the primal instinct to survive echoing through the air. They fought as one, an unbreakable bond tethering their spirits, refusing to succumb to the nightmare. As they continued to battle, the creature grew weaker, but they could sense that the noise was drawing more beings from the shadows, the air thick with impending danger.“Guys! We need to go, NOW!” Norman shouted, panic palpable in his voice as he ducked away from the snapping jaws of the beast.A horrifying screech pierced the air, and they heard the sound of more creatures making their entrance from the depths of the shadows. “We can’t stay here!” Atsumu yelled, pushing his way toward the others.“Back to the control room!” Iwaizumi called, rallying them forward. And just as they began their retreat, the shadows surged forward, filling the corridor around them. They turned and fled down the hall, the echoes of ravenous breaths hot on their heels. Danger trailed them like a dark specter, and the light ahead felt further and further away, as the shadows within the bunker seemed determined to swallow them whole. With hearts racing and determination fueled by the promise of survival, they dashed back into the control room, slamming the door behind them. They could hear the growls and shrieks of their pursuers outside, the monstrous symphony closing in.“What now?” Emma gasped, hands trembling from a mix of adrenaline and fear.“Hold the barricade! We need something to keep them at bay,” Atsumu urged, breathless. As they scrambled to find anything heavy to reinforce the barricade, Atsumu felt the shadows pressing closer, their whispers growing louder and more sinister. He knew their time was running out, the creatures outside relentless in their pursuit of flesh and fear.He turned to his companions, strength igniting within him. “Whatever happens, we stand together. No matter what those things are, we will not go down without a fight!”With hearts bound in unity, they fortified their position, preparing to confront what awaited them beyond those walls—a dark storm of terrors that would test the limits of their courage and resolve.“What’s that?” Don exclaimed suddenly, motioning towards the monitor. The flickering screen illuminated the darkened faces around the room. An unexpected image flickered back—a new angle captured an abomination that sent shivers down their spines. It was a massive being, larger than anything they had encountered. Wrapped in shadows, it loomed before an altar of grotesque machinery, surrounded by cowering figures. Chains rattled from within the darkness, and the sight hinted at a horrific ritual of sacrifice, bodies twisted and writhing against the weight of their impending doom.“They’re not just monsters,” Atsumu whispered, horrified realization dawning within him. “They’re doing something… something far worse.”As the realities of their predicament wrapped tighter around them, a collective dread filled the room, but beneath that dread was a burning fire—a primal instinct to obliterate hopes of despair.“Whatever they’re planning, we need to stop it before it’s too late!” Atsumu rallied once more, conviction guiding his voice. As shadows coalesced at the barricaded door and the chilling cries of nightmarish creatures echoed through the confines, they gathered their breaths and their courage for the storm that was about to break.“We stand together,” they echoed in unison, each vow piercing the darkness like a beacon. With hearts ablaze and minds ready, they braced themselves for the confrontation that lay just outside their fragile sanctuary, the shadows whispering of promises unfulfilled. Whatever awaited them in the darkness, they knew they must face it, united against the horror that had consumed so many before them. The air crackled with tension, shadows moving as the dark tide of uncertainty swelled. But within that storm, a glimmer of hope ignited—a fierce determination sparked against the oppressive darkness, ready to confront whatever awaited them beyond their barricade. And as the creatures loomed closer, the echoes of their twisted laughter courting once more, they readied themselves for the confrontation, the final reckoning unfolding, promises of survival clashing against the horrors of the abyss. Suddenly, the door shuddered violently, a deafening crash reverberating through the tiny control room. The barricade rattled in protest as unfathomable strength pressed against it, beastly growls penetrating their resolve.“Get ready!” Iwaizumi shouted, positioning himself as a barrier between the door and the rest of the group, gripping his makeshift weapon tightly. With each shudder, with every menacing roar from the depths of the shadows, the walls felt as if they might cave in under the weight of terror that descended upon them. Atsumu’s heart raced, an anxious drumbeat echoing his sanity's desperate fight against the encroaching madness.“Hold the line!” Emma screamed, her voice barely containing the quiver of fear that so closely engulfed them. The door creaked, the sound slicing through the air, and in that fleeting moment, Atsumu could feel the very essence of darkness aching to invade their sanctuary. Then, with a sound reminiscent of cracking thunder, the door burst open. With it, a blinding wave of shadow spilled into the room, a monstrous form silhouetted against the flickering lights. It surged forward, twisting taller—its eyes gleaming like shards of obsidian, filled with malicious intent.“Back! Back!” Norman shouted, stumbling as he shoved the others aside, the desperation of survival merging with raw instinct. But the beast barreled forward, a grotesque amalgamation of horror and rage, shoving aside one of the makeshift barriers with terrifying ease.“Guys! We can’t hold—” Atsumu’s voice was engulfed by a horrifying snarl that pierced through the air, reverberating in his bones and paralyzing him momentarily. The dark creature lunged, teeth bared in a frenzied lunge. Time seemed to suspend in that moment of sheer horror as Atsumu felt despair claw at his throat, both paralyzing and all-consuming. It was a sensation unlike any fear he had faced before, an intense urge to flee—and yet there was nowhere left to run.But just as it seemed that all hope was lost, another screech sliced through the desperation—a sharp, deafening roar echoed from the shadows. Suddenly, the room was punctuated with chaos as two more creatures, larger and more grotesque than the first, blurred into existence, emerging from the darkness as if called forth from nightmares long forgotten.“Stand firm!” Iwaizumi bellowed, his voice laced with resolve as he fell back into position beside Atsumu, the trio of twisted horrors threatening to envelop them. The air crackled; every nerve in Atsumu's body surged with survival instinct, but panic hung in the air like smoke. “We can’t fight them all!” he shouted, trying to ground himself. “We have to escape—NOW!”Yet something shifted among the chaos, a tangible weight swirling around them; the shadows seemed to pulse and writhe with a life of their own, as if the very darkness sought to claim them. The creatures were now circling them, nightmarish figures in a dance of predation, and all at once, the whispered promises of their demise turned into an overwhelming roar—a chorus of feral hunger that shook them to the core.“Follow me!” Don shouted, racing toward a side door that Atsumu had not noticed before. The group especially Oikawa and Sakusa hesitated, fear rooting them in place, but the mounting cacophony of snapping jaws forced them into urgent motion, instinct overriding doubt. With one final look back at the terrifying chaos unfurling before them, Atsumu's heart pounded against his rib cage, driving him forward as he sprinted for the side door. They all followed, hearts racing, minds ablaze with terror and resolve. But just as they reached the threshold, the monsters surged forward—one of them barreling into the door and slamming it shut with a bone-shaking thud. The impact sent tremors through the ground, rattling their very souls.“Get it open!” Emma yelled, pulling desperately at the handle.“Push!” Iwaizumi added, shoving his shoulder against it as Atsumu joined in.But it didn’t budge; the weight of fear pressed down around them, the monstrous growls growing louder and the sound looming ever closer. Time stretched like a taut wire, under the weight of harrowing reality and darkness flowering at their backs.Just then, a deafening crash rattled through the bunker, not just from within the room—but from the entire facility. The floor shook violently. “What the hell was that?” Atsumu shouted, dread pooling at the base of his gut.The shadows flickered ominously as the screeching cries of the creatures grew into a crazy crescendo around them, echoing the chaos of their last stand.“Move!” Don urged, frantically looking around for another exit as panic surged. “We’re not safe here!”Then there was a sudden blinding light from the far end of the corridor—searingly bright, illuminating the shadows and revealing glimpses of more creatures, their faces contorted with rage and hunger. It felt like an omen of impending doom.“They’re coming!” Atsumu screamed, fear making his throat raw as he felt the walls of reality closing in around them.As the pounding of their hearts, alongside the chaotic symphony of screams and growls, Atsumu turned to his boyfriends and the teens he just met 9 hours ago, desperation in his gaze. “We may not all make it through! We need to break out, NOW!”“Let’s go! We push together!” Iwaizumi’s voice broke through the din, which felt like a lifeline through a storm. But just as they readied themselves to make one final push against the door, it violently exploded inward, a mass of claws and shadows breaking through as panic unfurled and time seemed to slow to a crawl. The darkness surged forward, and Atsumu felt an icy grip wrap around his heart as the monstrous forms began to spill into the light—a corrupted tide of malice and ancient hunger, a relentless wave swarming toward them.“RUN!” he shouted, but as he turned to flee, something icy and dark latched onto his ankle, dragging him back into the abyss. It was as if the darkness itself had come alive, claiming him with a force beyond comprehension.“No! I can't leave you, Atsumu!” Oikawa screamed, his eyes pleading and wide with terror. Sakusa, we tears in his eyes got Oikawa and pulled him back. The last thing he felt was the icy touch of horror wrapping around him like a suffocating shroud, and just before darkness consumed him, he managed to catch a glimpse of hisboyfriends pulling Oikawa away, silhouettes fading into the haunted shadows, their anguished cries echoing in his ears.In the last moment, as he was enveloped by the dark tide, an eerie calm settled over him—because in the end, it wasn’t just about surviving; it was about facing the unknown, about resting in the knowledge that they had fought together, even when all seemed lost. (heh... yk I gotta make it seem like the ahh power of friendship always win)And then the darkness absorbed him completely, swallowing him whole, leaving behind nothing but the teetering precipice of what lay ahead—where hope wavered at the edges of despair, and the whispers of shadows echoed with promises yet unfulfilled. As the door slammed shut behind his boyfriends, sealing their fates from the monstrous tide of horrors, the shadows coalesced around Atsumu, their laughter reverberating as they drew him deeper into the chilling unknown, leaving the rest of the group in the brink of despair.“NO!” Oikawa cried, pounding his fists against the door, but it stood unyielding, a monstrous barrier sealing his boyfriend away as the horrifying shrieks grew louder, a testament to the battle that lay ahead. He can hear the monsters laughing at his despair.“Oikawa stop!” Sakusa yelled, face wet with tears of dread, trying to push back the pounding realization of their situation. But in that moment, the door to the unknown sealed shut, the light flickering hopelessly as a dark echo lingered. They stood there, breathless and desolate, as Atsumu slipped into the unfathomable depths—all hope for survival now hanging by a thin, fraying thread."What's next?" Iwaizumi whispered, voice heavy with the weight of loss and fear, but the answer lay only in the shadows that hunted them relentlessly; a world now forever changed, where darkness danced upon the edges of their stark reality. The shadows whispered promises unfulfilled, and the walls pulsed with an unfathomable hunger. Tomorrow awaited with relentless horrors and the chilling reminder that they could very well be next.!!

Chapter 3: The Haunting EchoesThe air was thick with dread as Oikawa, Iwaizumi, Sakusa, and the newcomers stood frozen in front of the impenetrable door that sealed away their friend. The wails of Atsumu and the sounds of monstrous laughter echoed through the small space, each note striking deep into their hearts like an icy dagger.“Why isn’t he back yet?” Iwaizumi muttered, frustration and fear swelling inside him. His fists clenched tightly at his sides, trembling with a fierce desire to break down the door.“He’s… he’s got to be okay,” Oikawa replied, his voice shaky, but he desperately masked his fear with forced optimism. “He’s smart. He wouldn’t let them catch him knowing that he seen them catch huum.”“Do you even hear that?” Sakusa whispered, eyes darting around the darkened room. “It sounds like they’re dragging him somewhere—in the shadows!”“Shut up!” Iwaizumi snapped, even as his heart raced with the mounting terror he was trying to suppress. “Worrying won’t help him! We have to think of a plan—”Suddenly, a loud bang resonated from outside, followed by a guttural growl and the sound of something being dragged. The atmosphere grew heavier, as if the very air conspired against them. He could feel his resolve crumbling, and the realization that their friend was possibly lost in a hell of nightmares nearly shattered him.“They're coming for us!” Emma shouted, wide-eyed with terror. She scanned the room, all the while glancing over her shoulders as if the shadows themselves were creeping closer.“Maybe we should look for another way out?” Don suggested, his voice barely a whisper as hope flickered like the dying light overhead. But the sound of claws scraping against metal and sinister chuckles reinforced their entrapment like a chain locking them in place. Outside, the dark entities granted no reprieve; they were hungry for something far worse than fear.Jerking his head toward the adjacent room, Iwaizumi motioned urgently. “Let’s check the supply room! If we can find anything useful, we might have a fighting chance.”“Are you sure?” Sakusa asked hesitantly. “What if it’s a trap?”“It’s better than standing here waiting to be hunted,” Iwaizumi growled, pushing open the door. The room was just as forsaken as the others—a moldy smell hung in the air, and dust clung to every surface. Old, rotting wooden shelves loomed around them, barely holding on to the remains of what might have been their last hope. Broken bottles and rusty tools lay scattered on the floor, remnants of what was left behind.“Start looking,” Iwaizumi ordered, and the group fanned out, rummaging through the decay that felt like a tomb waiting to close in around them.---**Thirty Minutes Later…**The tension in the air thickened as they unearthed nothing of value—just reminders of what had been lost. Iwaizumi felt despair creeping in, the whispers from the chaos outside clawing through his own sanity.“Guys… there’s nothing here,” Emma admitted, the weight of failure engulfing her. “What… what if we’re next?”“Don’t say that!” Oikawa urged, trying to muster the strength of his voice. “Atsumu wouldn’t want us to give up! We have to keep pushing!” (yes he would)Suddenly, a thunderous crash echoed through the bunker, one that shook them to their core, a harbinger of the darkness spilling down the hall.“Get back!” Iwaizumi yelled, eyes wide as the door creaked on its hinges. They stumbled backward, pressing against the far wall of the room, hearts racing like desperate wild things in their chests. Then, as if orchestrated by some unseen maestro, the door burst open, unveiling a darkness so deep it swallowed the faint flickers of light like a hungry beast. The air was filled with howls, promises of despair and violent hunger thrumming in their ears like a death knell.“Sakusa, Komori! Grab something!” Oikawa shouted, grabbing a rusted pipe himself, and handing one to Iwaizumi.Don and the girl with green hair, who had introduced herself as Glida, collected makeshift weapons from the wreckage littered about, desperation combining with soldiers’ resolve. As the shadows thickened, the air pulsated with energy—something was glaring down on them from the pitch, a promise of madness unfolding before their eyes.“Fight!” Iwaizumi urged, both a rallying cry and a pledge. There was nowhere left to run.---A harrowing silence filled the air, tension so thick it made breathing an exertion. The shadows seemed to pulse and sway, gathering force as if testing their resolve. And then, like a lightning strike, noise blasted from beyond the door. The wave of monstrosities surged through the opening, rushing in like a tidal wave—jagged teeth and distorted faces contorting with an eagerness that sent chills down their spines.“Now!” Iwaizumi roared, plunging forward to meet the dark tide.Metal clashed against sinew as they surged against the wave, attempting to fend off the nightmarish invaders. Atsumu’s new friends and his family.. fought with everything they had, fury edged with despair, against creatures that defied all reasoning.A shriek tore through the air—the sound of pain, mingled with desperation—fueling their fight even more. Atsumu’s voice echoed through their minds, undying spirit urging them onward. But another crash sent tremors through the air. The shadows rippled in response as the creatures struggled to contain the increasingly chaotic tide.“Regroup!” Oikawa shouted as he swung his pipe against one of the vile things, shoving it back into the growing mass.Suddenly, the lights overhead flickered—once, then twice—before plunging them into mind-numbing darkness, accentuated by the nightmarish growls echoing around them.“Guys!” Glida screamed, the air thick with panic. “What do we do now?! We’re losing—”“In here!” Iwaizumi shouted, leading the frantic rush toward a nearby storage closet. “We need to hide!”They shoved through the door, cramming themselves into the cramped space.“We can’t stay here!” Don gasped, trying to catch his breath, and in that moment, the cacophony of horror just outside the door intensified.“Be quiet!” Sakusa hissed, eyes wide as he pressed himself against the wall, fighting against the rising tide of growing despair.---**Minutes turned to hours**, each breath drawing thin with anxiety as they waited, hearts hammering against their ribcages in the heavy silence that followed. Shadows brushed against the closet door, whispers of darkness sliding through the crack like fingers searching for prey.Suddenly, a strange noise caught their attention—something they never expected. It was a familiar cry, swirling through the chaos with a haunting echo that pierced their hearts with a jagged knife of hope.“Atsumu!” Oikawa gasped, feeling a strange electric thrill washed over him, along with dread. The sound of their friend’s voice danced through the air, ringing with panic but somehow still alive.“Where?” Iwaizumi whispered, straining to listen, hoping against hope.“Outside—he’s outside!” Emma exclaimed, eyes widening. “It has to be him!”Don pressed his ear against the door, hearing the faint cries getting closer as the shadows quietly roiled outside. “It’s coming from the right,” he breathed, clutching his makeshift weapon tightly.“If he’s alive, we have to help him!” Iwaizumi said, determination dawning anew in his eyes.“Are you crazy? We can’t just run out there! What if it’s—” Sakusa started, but the urgency painted across their expressions silenced his protests.“Door’s locked,” Iwaizumi said angrily, dripping with conviction. “There’s no way out of here unless we break it down. If that is Atsumu, we owe it to him to try—”The shadows seemed to grow darker, swirling like a thick black fog which threatened to drown them.“Let’s do it!” Glida yelled, grasping a nearby metal rod.“Okay, count to three. We force the door on three!” Iwaizumi said tightly, balancing on the precipice between hope and despair.“ONE!”A heartbeat of silence unfolded, as shadows pressed closer to the door.“TWO!”Their resolve coalesced into a singular, bond-brimming hope against the dark.“THREE!”They shoved with everything they had—shutters rattling as the door creaked ominously, almost reluctantly.---The door burst open, and they spilled into the chaos outside, crawling into a world painted in shadows and light that flickered unsettlingly.“Atsumu?!” Oikawa shouted, voice piercing through the madness surrounding them. But there he stood—right at the center, silhouetted against the faint glow of dim lanterns that flickered like dying stars, twisted shadows dancing all around him.“Atsumu!” Iwaizumi called again, relief flooding into them.Yet, the joy was murky, tangled with the confusion of the darkness around. Atsumu’s body trembled as he stood poised, staring directly at them. It was him, but he was not alone.A dark creature loomed behind him, clawed and hungry, drawing tighter like a noose around their friend's neck—a grotesque mockery of humanity, and every instinct screamed that this was no ordinary enemy.“Atsumu, run!” Oikawa screeched, rushing forward, but Iwaizumi grabbed his arm, fear tightening around his throat.“It’s too dangerous!” he hissed, watching helplessly as the monstrous figure twisted closer.Tension simmered as Atsumu opened his mouth, but the words morphed into horrific screams around them, and in a blinding flurry of chaos, the creature lunged forward, razor-sharp teeth snapping viciously through the air.“Atsumu!” Oikawa screamed, helpless as the darkness erupted, swallowing his boyfriend whole.Time seemed to freeze—shadows collided in a chaotic dance, laughter echoed against the anguished cries, and the last thing he saw was Atsumu’s terrified face disappearing into the maw of chaos.“No! NO!” Iwaizumi screamed, breaking into a furious charge toward the darkness, but was overtaken by a wave of shadow that pulled him back.“Get back!” Don shouted, swinging his weapon in defense, but the room pulsed with a suffocating darkness, laughter echoing cruelly like a dismissive mockery of their despair.A chorus of monstrous growls erupted, and soon the corridor was consumed by shadows, the walls pulsing and stretching as nightmarish figures surged forth, rushing toward them like an unstoppable tide. The shadow creatures emerged from every corner, talons extended, eyes glinting with malice—a relentless storm of hunger.“Run!” Iwaizumi yelled, desperation fueling him as they turned and raced through the pulsating chaos, fleeing from the horrors that seemed to chase after them through endless shadows.Just as they approached a doorway, a massive figure crashed down before them, clawed hands reaching out to grasp.Oikawa skidded to a stop, eyes wide with panic. Behind him, the guttural laughter of the shadows crescendo, and reality crumbled into chaos with every echoing sound haunting their desperation.“Go!” Sakusa shouted, grabbing Oikawa by the arm and forcing him forward as the world spun into a vortex of nightmare. But the shadows were relentless—a sickening wave crashing over them, drowning them in darkness. Fingers of despair grasped them tightly as they moved, tightening their bonds with every frantic step.Time blurred; memories of their boyfriend lost in the swirling shadows wove together, each fleeting moment becoming a tether of desperation.
(34 hours and 47 minutes has been by in the world)
---“Split up!” Iwaizumi yelled, urging them forward in a frenzied rush. “Meet at the old lab! If we can find a way to disable whatever they’re doing—”The shadows hissed from every corner, claws snatching at their heels as they darted down different hallways, darkness clawing after them, hungry and cruel. The air grew thicker around them, and the howls of despair echoed through the hollows of the dark, tormenting them as they ran. With every twist and turn, the realization pulsed through their minds: the shadows were alive, sentient, and no matter how far they ran, it wasn’t the shadows that defined their fate but their own hearts—filled with fear and gnawing desperation.Suddenly, Oikawa found himself alone in the dim corridor, broken pieces of old machinery casting a pale light, glinting ominously in the distance. He took a breath, fighting against the terror swelling deep in his core. And there it was—the sound of laughter that made his blood run cold.It sent chills down his spine—shadows loomed, shifting like smoke, fingers stretching forth toward him with unwavering longing.“Oikawa…” the echoes whispered, the shadows taking shape, mimicking Atsumu’s voice, twisted and warped.“No, no, no!” Oikawa shook his head, heart pounding. “You’re not him! You’re not—I won’t listen! Atsumu, where are you?”He bolted forward, running with a fierce determination, trying to escape the phantoms that twisted his mind. He could feel the darkness gauging him, taunting him, echoing the torment he felt within.Suddenly, a blinding light flickered at the end of the corridor. Oikawa felt a surge of hope ignite deep within him. He ran faster; shadows breaking apart in response, the laughter echoing, threatening to fill the void as darkness roiled behind him.As he reached the flickering light, he burst through the door, colliding into another room. Breathless, he turned to see if he was followed.---But time told a different story. Nightmarish figures surged forward—nothing but glimmering shadows as they settled back, dancing in the dimness.“Guys, where are you?” His voice trembled, reaching into the void before him.And then he saw her—Glida , struggling against the weight of darkness, eyes wild with fear. “Oikawa! Help!” she cried out, shadows wrapping around her body.Without a moment’s thought, he rushed forward, arms outstretched. But as he reached her, the shadows snatched her away, dragging her back into the abyss.“NO!” He screamed, stretching out his hand in a futile attempt to grasp her, his heart ripping apart as the shadows consumed her around him, laughter echoing like a death knell.“Run…” she called softly, swallowed by terror, haunted by the creatures lurking deep within the void. The shadows churned, and suddenly another voice broke through the torment—familiar, but distorted, twisting his name like a sickened taunt.“Oikawa…” Atsumu’s voice echoed eerily from the depths; it sent a chill through his spine. There he was, lost amongst the shadows, trapped in the dark echo of anguish.“No! Atsumu!” Oikawa screamed, panic surging as he charged forward. But as he reached out, the figure swirled with darkness, a malevolent laugh resonating through the shadows—as if they relished his despair. The laughter grew louder, and Oikawa felt the thrumming weight of inevitability wrapping around his throat, squeezing mercilessly. Shadows closed in, threatening to drag him into their depths, a nightmarish fate.“Help! Someone! Help me!” he cried out, eyes wide with fear, knowing that all around him, darkness hungerously gathered.---The corridors shifted around him, dark tides closing in. As he stumbled back, he could feel the cosmic weight of despair tugging at his heart, the reality of loss bending the fabric of his very being. Then, just as the darkness threatened to take him, a flash of light surged through the hallway—just a glimpse, but enough to illuminate the shadows for a brief moment. With it came an overwhelming surge that whispered of hope. With a fierce determination mined from deep within, Oikawa pushed against the shadows, moving toward that glimmering light.Every instinct screamed at him—he could feel the warmth of Atsumu’s presence, resonating even through the cruel abyss that sought to consume him. With each step, the shadows shrieked—demanding to take hold, tearing at the fabric of his sanity. Finally, he reached another door, bursting through as he screamed his boyfriend’s name.“Atsumu!”The room stood eerily still, dim lighting casting ominous shapes across the walls.Out of the silence, Atsumu appeared at the far end, looking disoriented but very much alive, standing amidst the flickering shadows, a light glimmering in his gaze. But as he stepped forward, the room intensified with darkness—sharp, vile shadows aiming like spears toward Oikawa.“No! Get back!” Oikawa yelled, taking a brave step toward him.Atsumu’s silhouette shifted, breath held, amidst that ever-thickening darkness. “Oikawa! Help—”Suddenly, the shadows erupted, grasping at his limbs, pulling him back into the vile abyss from whence he came.“Oikawa!” he cried out, but the shadows danced around, feverishly absorbing him, stealing his voice, their laughter echoing cruelly, deepening the cracks of despair within Oikawa’s heart.“No! I won’t let you take him!” Oikawa screamed, panic igniting a blaze within him.Rushing forward, he plunged into the shadows, tearing through the encroaching void, letting out every ounce of fear and pain in a cry that threatened to tear the world asunder. But the shadows pushed back violently—darkness surged, swelling as if feeding off his raw emotion.“NO!” He threw himself against the pressure, fighting against the tide of despair. “Atsumu!”And then Oikawa’s world erupted—shadows broke apart with a deafening roar, the darkness revealing a pathway illuminated by a faint pulse of life.Darting through, he felt fear clawing at him, but the roar of the shadows faded into whispered madness. He could see Atsumu struggling against the weight of darkness, eyes wide and desperate in a world that pulled closer, almost sucking the light from within. And just as Oikawa lunged forward, reaching out to grasp Atsumu’s hand, the darkness enveloped them both.“Hold on!” he yelled, blazing through the void, fighting against the dark tide that twisted around them, longing to drag them back to the abyss. But as Atsumu’s hand clutched his, the shadows around them swirled and writhed, howling in rage as the duo stumbled forward into the light.A blinding flash erupted, illuminating their path for just long enough for them to break through the layers of torment surrounding them. And then they collapsed into a fresh, yet grim room—gasping, heart racing, eyes filled with hope, uncertain of where this path would lead.A faint echo of monstrous laughter reverberated through the walls—cold and hollow. They lay there, chest heaving, barely clinging on to the remnants of their sanity, staring into the growing darkness that pulsed with life around them.“Atsumu?” Oikawa gasped, breathless and shaking. “Are you okay?”But there was no answer. Only the chilling echoes of their own heartbeats pounding in the silence.Suddenly, the shadows shifted, swirling and twisting, and Atsumu’s face took on a fateful expression.“Do you hear that?” he asked, brows furrowing in confusion. “Listen!”But the shadows began to resonate again—a sound rising from the dark, a chilling echo that reached into the depths of their souls. And there it was: a whisper so sinister it clung to the edges of their sanity, an echo of familiar laughter twisted into something macabre and wicked.---“Together…” it whispered sweetly, almost tenderly as time hung in the balance, darkness swirling around the edges, threatening to consume them once more.“What is this?” Oikawa hissed, scanning the shadows—shadowy figures wading through the depths, their expressions hauntingly distorted as they moved closer.---“Before the dawn…” the voice purred, a soothing yet sinister lullaby that wrapped around their very essence, taunting them. And just as he felt the last of his grip on sanity slipping away, he understood that they had crossed a threshold, one far deeper than he could have ever imagined. The shadows lingered longer, whispering sordid promises of despair, climaxing in a crescendo of sinister laughter that sang through the blood-soaked air.**“Tomorrow awaits… and we will feed.”**The laughter echoed, twisting through the air, as Oikawa gripped Atsumu’s hand tightly, knowing that darkness breathed beside them—waiting patiently for the moment hope would shatter. And beneath that madness sown in shadows, the chilling truth seeped into the edges of their hearts: whatever awaited them was undoubtedly more than they could ever withstand. As the echoes of despair converged upon them, the darkness would continue its hunt. And the hunt was far from over.

Chapter 4: The Abyss BeckonsTime stretched in the fractured prison of chaos, throbbing against the silence that encased Oikawa and Atsumu. The walls pulsed like a living entity, murmurs of darkness hovering, testing the frail bridge of sanity they clung to. Shadows twisted at the periphery, waiting, watching—the echoes of their deep-rooted fears growing stronger.“Oikawa?” Atsumu whispered, his voice trembling like a flickering candle in a tempest. “Are you okay?”But Oikawa was not okay, not in the slightest. His world felt like it had warped and twisted into a grotesque reflection of reality, every shadow taunting his fraying mind. “I—I don’t know,” he stammered, fear curling around his heart like a constrictor. The darkness felt possessive, as if it thrived on the doubt gnawing at his mind. The monstrous laughter echoed in a sinister ripple through the walls, chilling to the very core. It haunted them, the sound curling around Oikawa’s thoughts like fog, reminding him of the faces he couldn’t quite grasp—faces lost beyond the doorways of shadows.Suddenly, a crash reverberated through the room—a thunderous sound that nearly made Oikawa jump. Outside, the whispers grew louder, twisting into a chaotic symphony of despair as they unsettled the fabric of his sanity.“Oikawa!” Atsumu urged, reaching out, aiming for connection. “Stay with me! We can’t let them take you. We have to fight this!”But the shadows shifted. Dark tendrils wrapped around Atsumu, unfurling with insidious intent. Oikawa barely registered the sensation of his boyfriend slipping through the cracks of darkness. Panic surged, tearing him free from the grasp of numbness.“Atsumu! No!” Oikawa shouted, lunging forward, but just as his hand brushed his boyfriend's arm, the shadows thickened, bending the light and warping reality. With a shriek, Atsumu vanished, swallowed whole as the shadows rambled with glee. The walls pulsated, taunting, twisting Oikawa’s desperation into sheer terror.“No! No! Come back!” Oikawa howled, arms outstretched, feeling the cold tendrils of darkness wrap around him, pulling him down into a chilling void of despair.---**Meanwhile, Iwaizumi and Sakusa searched frantically through the labyrinthine halls, the air thick with shadows.**“It’s been too long. Where are they?” Iwaizumi grunted, dread pooling in his stomach like lead. He kept glancing over his shoulder, expecting the horrors that had been their reality to emerge from the darkness at any moment.“I don’t know,” Sakusa replied, inhaling sharply as he rubbed a hand over his face in frustration. “They could be anywhere. We shouldn’t have split up—what if they—”“Stop! Don’t say it!” Iwaizumi snapped, teeth clenched, a surge of anger coursing through him. “We can’t let ourselves think like that. They’re alive. They have to be!”But as snippets of laughter echoed hauntingly down the corridor, Sakusa felt the threads of hope begin to strangle him. “If we don’t find them…” he trailed off, mind racing with fear.“Then we’ll keep looking. Let’s head back to the main room—maybe they went there!” Iwaizumi said desperately, attempting to keep focus, but shadows danced at the very edge of his vision, fingers stretching toward him with eerie grace, whispering promises of despair that gnawed at the foundation of his sanity.“Wait!” Sakusa snapped, causing Iwaizumi to halt abruptly. “Listen!”A sound rippling through the air—not laughter, but something deeper, something twisted; a sickening echo that sent dread flooding over them. It was the last sound of hope unraveling, sending those who heard it spiraling downward into disarray.“Atsumu!” they both called out simultaneously, desperation amplifying each syllable—each breath laden with dread. They rushed back down the darkened corridor, each footfall echoing the sound of their racing hearts, mingling with whispers that clawed at their ears like icy fingers. The air grew denser with shadows, the walls closing in around them as if mocking their attempts to hold on to sanity.---As Oikawa staggered back against a wall, panic snaked through his veins, gnawing away at the edges of reality itself. “They can’t have taken him… He’s here, he has to be here!”He gripped his head, squeezing tight as if that would contain the chaos swirling within. Memories flickered like a film reel—moments with Atsumu flooded into his mind, every laugh, every smile, mingling with fleeting visions of the shadows swallowing him whole.“Help!” the haunting echoes of Atsumu’s cries reverberated through the void, twisting into tortured screams that threatened to pull Oikawa under.“No!” Oikawa cried out. He felt the tremors of terror inching up his spine, rage boiling like molten lava erupting through his chest. “Get out of my head! Get the hell away!”The shadows swirled closer, laughter wrapping around him like a lacerating embrace. It tore at Oikawa's sanity as he realized: the shadows were becoming aware of him.“Don’t… don’t let them win. Don’t let them take you!” Atsumu’s voice reverberated in the depths of his mind, a beacon in the storm.Clutching the ache of lost hope, Oikawa pushed against the tides of despair, struggling against the pulsating grip of anguish pulling him deeper into madness.“Unity, Oikawa… Hold on!”But as the shadows morphed and shifted, Oikawa saw a visage—not Atsumu, but a grotesque reflection of him, his own features twisted beyond recognition. The creature bore a maniacal grin, a remnant of Oikawa’s own fear incarnate, and it mocked him, relishing in the chaos around them.“No! Get away!” Oikawa screamed defiantly, launching himself into the darkness, desperately chasing the fading echoes of Atsumu’s voice through the haze.---**Sakusa and Iwaizumi pressed on, the air heavy with dread as they retraced their steps.**“Do you feel that?” Sakusa questioned, the oppressive weight of shadows looming over him, a sensation of impending doom crawling over his skin.“Feel what?” Iwaizumi snapped, growing impatient, his heart thundering, echoing the anguish brewing in their hearts.“Something’s changed…” Sakusa murmured, voice taut with rising panic. “It’s as if the shadows themselves are shifting. It feels wrong.”And then they heard it: a cacophony of laughter cascading through the air, chilling them. It was joined by something heavier, a mournful echo drowning all light within earshot. It clawed at their edges of understanding, spitting out twisted realities that numbed sense and sanity.“It’s them! It’s got to be!” Iwaizumi took off in the direction of the sound. “They need us!”The shadows twisted ahead, silhouettes flickering in and out of existence, haunting the confines of their minds. Iwaizumi felt every heartbeat—his own and those of the shadows all around–a synchronous rhythm, growing louder.Sakusa surged after him, struggling to draw breath as—Wham!A dark figure exploded in front of them, a clawed hand reaching toward Iwaizumi, its eyes gleaming with manic delight—a reflection of their deepest fears.“Jin!” Iwaizumi shouted, lunging to slam into the darkness, but it was too late. Iwaizumi tore past it, racing into the void left in its wake without a care for the crushing darkness behind him.“Sakusa, come on!” he demanded, his voice rising through the chaos. But Sakusa was standing frozen, the sight of twisted figures emerging through the layers of shadows demanding his attention. “Wha-what—what are they?” A sickening horror speared through his chest, the shadows weaving their way into his mind.“Shake it off! We have to stick together!” Iwaizumi shouted, grasping Sakusa’s arm, pulling him fast forward. Terror clawed at their hearts, but the thought of losing Oikawa and Atsumu fueled them.---**Oikawa careened through the void, shadows taunting him with whimpers of despair, swirling around him like smoke. Behind him, he felt the darkness surge forward, chasing him, relentless in its hunger.**“You can’t escape!” the creature of shadows laughed, its voice morphing into Oikawa’s memories, echoing moments of laughter and joy with Atsumu, now twisted into cruel mockery. “They’re gone! You’re alone!”“No!” Oikawa shouted, flailing against the madness encroaching, but with every scream, he felt pieces of himself unraveling. “I won’t let you take me!”Yet the laughter only grew; the shadows spiraled closer with each frantic pulse in his chest. In that moment of surrender, he caught sight of a portal—a small flicker of light dancing beyond the miasma of chaos, a pathway shimmering through the shadows. He surged toward it, heart pounding, dragging every ounce of hope left within him. The laughter faded slightly, shadows thundering as they clawed after him, but Oikawa leapt toward the diminishing light, desperation driving each step.---**Sakusa and Iwaizumi charged through the reality-bending corridors, shadows leaping beside them, scraping and tearing at their sanity with every following step.**“We can’t stop—their screams will never end!” Iwaizumi yelled, driven by fear and blind hope.“Jin!” Sakusa cried, pulling at Iwaizumi’s arm. “We’re losing them. If we don’t find them soon… what if it’s too late?”Iwaizumi met his gaze, the flicker of hope now laced with despair. “We’ll find them. We can’t give in. Keep moving!” The gravity of their reality pulsed with each heartbeat, shadows swirling closer, taking each step with a predatory hunger.Suddenly, they skidded to a halt, shadows parting slightly to reveal another doorway, one that seemed to thrum with energy, a sharp detonation of light floating around them.“There, through there!” Iwaizumi yelled, breaking into a mad dash toward the portal, but dark figures twisted before him, slithering in and out of the light.“No, no, no!” Sakusa’s voice strained. “We have to get through!”“Help me!” Atsumu’s voice flooded their ears once again, echoes of longing laced with despair weaving through the fabric of reality. “Help me, please!”“No!” Iwaizumi shuddered, drawing in a sharp breath. They had to act, but with the weight of shadowy figures collapsing in surrounding them, it grew insurmountable.“Focus!” Sakusa shouted, shoving darkness behind him with newfound resolve. “For Atsumu! For Oikawa!”With that, the air crackled with determination, and they plowed through the darkness squeezing around them, desperate to reach that glimmer of light, realizing even in their pursuit—hope had become both a lifeline and a reminder of their crumbling sanity.---Oikawa reached out desperately, grasping the flicker of light, and felt something begin to shift. The shadows that had intoxicated him turned chaotic and wild. The laughter dissolved into furious whispers, shattering against the light that grew around him. “Get away from me!” he snarled, thrusting himself into the light. But the tendrils still snatched at him, renewed malice echoing through the air as the darkness seethed, hissing like a feral beast.Suddenly, a piercing scream cut through the air, echoing with despair and pain. “Atsumu!”“No! Please!” Oikawa’s heart shattered, knowing with a sickening certainty that it was sincere—the cruel truth racing through him, leaving an imprint of irrecoverable horror. The shadows raged, swirling, and Oikawa was suddenly aware of the portal beneath his feet, shimmering with warmth. He could feel his breaths increase as shadows and darkness crashed around him, desperate for any remaining shred of hope.He barreled through, reaching for whatever glimmer of light could guide him and before he crossed the threshold, he felt the shadows claw at his heels, desperation fueling their wrath. As he fell through the aperture of light, grasping desperately, he broke the surface of darkness, tumbling headfirst into a world that felt like the afterglow of impending despair.---**And in an instant, Oikawa found himself back in the dim room, shadows creeping along the corners, shadows that twisted and warped around him. The laughter echoed, depthless and cruel.**“Why did you leave me, Oikawa?” Atsumu's voice was close, haunting and tearing.“I didn’t! I searched for you!” Oikawa yelled, but his words hung in the oppressive darkness.“Liar…” it taunted, shadows flicking to reveal twisted forms mocking him, pure reflection of his own fear.“No! Stop!” Oikawa shrieked, scrambling back against the wall. “You’re lying! They need me! I won’t let you win!”Suddenly, the flickering shadows coalesced into figures of faceless torment—Oikawa’s memory replaying agony steeped in loneliness and longing. The shadows mumbled all around him, swirling tighter, his heart raced, breathless as despair constricted around him.“Everything you know… it will all become… darkness,” the laughter crescendoed, merging with tortured screams, as Oikawa clawed at any shred of hope left.---**Meanwhile, Iwaizumi and Sakusa dealt with the shifting shadows forcing them to split, maddening memories stinging with loss; and amidst their own descent into madness, the laughing echoes bore down with a weight they still fought against.**“Are you here, Oikawa?” Iwaizumi whispered, desperately grasping for any glimpse of hope against the relentless darkness. “Please, come back to us!”They could feel the sanity slipping with each whispered cry, shadows coiling like fog, suffocating their resolve.“I can’t lose him!” Sakusa barked, fighting to keep the despair at bay, but the shadows swarmed closer, wrapping around them as if feeding on their very fears. “We won’t lose any more!”Iwaizumi felt rage fuel him as he yelled out, “We’re coming, Oikawa! Hang on!” The shadows seethed, darkness undulating with resentment. The disembodied laughter howled, a testament of the reality spiraling out of control. In the distance, the sounds of torment weaved into a chilling symphony—Oikawa’s shouts, Atsumu’s cries, their frantic pleas echoing through the nightmarish interlude that threatened to crush reality.Jolted, Sakusa charged forward, taking Iwaizumi’s wrist and pulling him into the maw of darkness as they plunged into the unknown.“The light’s there!” Iwaizumi yelled, breath coming fast as he fought through the chaotic folds of terror surrounding them. Each footfall resonated, the shadows coiling tighter, bearing down with raw malevolence as the echoes danced within their closest memories.Every laugh, every sweet embrace echoed cruelly back at them, fracturing their resolve.--In a heartbeat, everything crescendoed. Shadows erupted from all around, cascading darkness wrapping around both of them, choking every ounce of hope they fought to keep alive.“Fight! We have to fight!” Iwaizumi cried, swinging against the shadows. But the laughter enveloped them, and in a final surge, just as they plunged deeper into the darkness outlining their despair—the shadows faltered for a moment, the air crackling with energy, light emerging from every crack.“Keep going!” Sakusa roared, grasping hold of Iwaizumi, together they plunged into the one thing that remained: hope.---As they spiraled through the shadows, Oikawa let his breath hitch, darkness clawing at him, and without hesitation the shadows surged forth on a wave of malevolent joy.“Join us!” they taunted, twisted reflections of Atsumu’s own laughter filling the room with erratic glee. “Welcomed by despair, come enjoy the feast of hope.”“NO!” Oikawa yelled, thunderous rage coursing through him as the air shimmered with unresolved anguish. The darkness loomed thicker now, realigning shadows of despair and laughter growing in synchronous torment.Through the static chaos, he felt it—a moment of clarity, remembering the warmth of Atsumu’s smile, their shared laughter, memories that sparked a new torrent of emotions.“FOR ATSUMU!” he screamed, a raw flame igniting within him as he plunged forward into the darkness ravaging the edges of sanity. He tore through the haze, shadows whipping around his limbs in protest as he moved closer to the point of light that realigned hope in chaos.---Terror clenched in Iwaizumi’s chest, reality felt like the fragments of a fragile dream slipping between his fingers. “Atsumu! Oikawa!”Every step became impossible as the shadows closed in around him, threatening to siphon every ounce of light left in him. Then, suddenly, he felt it—ghostly fingers of hope pricking through the dark; something shifted in the air.“Atsumu!” Iwaizumi screamed, racing forward. The lights around them sparked and hummed, reality flickering like a candle against the tempest. “Stay with us!”And then they were upon the threshold, the shadows screaming in rage as they surged forward, ripping at their sanity with snide laughter mingling in a frightening cacophony.“We will lead you into darkness!” the shadows bellowed, but Iwaizumi pressed onward, fighting back against the screams. “We can’t lose them!”In an unexpected moment, the shadows trembled, a breach of light igniting through the haze—a lighthouse in a tempestuous storm whispering of safety.“I swear to you! We’re not losing anyone else!” Iwaizumi railed, pushing against the rails of darkness, every flicker of hope urging him forward.“No!” Sakusa shouted, the shadows clung tighter, grasping at everything left around them, but the light fought back, illuminating their path through despair. With sheer will, they charged into the light, and the shadows recoiled, howling as the darkness fled for just a heartbeat.---The portal of light widened as Oikawa pushed past the shadows gnawing at his sanity and reached out into that last breath of hope blooming before him.“Together!” he echoed, feeling that last flicker of his soul resonating with life, igniting a spark within the wreckage of despair. As he plunged forward, he felt the void clutch at his throat, but he fought past, a scream of righteous anger fleeing from his lips.In that final push, he broke through, cascading into a room bathed in light, shimmering with promise only to find—“Atsumu?!”---Iwaizumi and Sakusa charged through the opening, heartbeats echoing in sync, their breaths hitching as they burst into the brightness, drenched in an ethereal glow.“Oikawa!” Sakusa called, voice trembling, rushing forward—only to find themselves face-to-face with the remnants of their reality.Atsumu lay crumpled to the floor, surrounded by shadows that writhed like smoke around him, fragments of laughter echoing ominously across time.“No!” Iwaizumi screamed, terror flooding through him as darkness coiled tightly around them, inches from escape.“Don’t you dare touch him!” Oikawa shouted, launching himself forward, a primal scream igniting within him. With a raw surge, they surged together, three figures lost in a tempest of shadows and light, barreling forth against the rising tide. The darkness shrieked, flickering, as Oikawa's voice thundered, “Together!”And in that one moment, as the shadows began to retract, the laughter dwindled, revealing the beauty of hope echoing through their souls. As shadows folded in on themselves, the light surged, illuminating every corner, sweeping aside the gloom chasing their hearts. They poured forth joy, intertwined like a living tapestry—laughter threaded amidst the tendrils of darkness consumed their presence.---But as they surfaced from the depths of despair, an ominous whisper danced in their minds, shadows flickering behind like memories they could never truly outrun.“Tomorrow awaits… and we will feed,” the darkness murmured, retreating beyond the reach of illumination.Gasping, Oikawa embraced Atsumu—still whole yet marred by the scars of trauma felt beneath every flickering breath. But the shadows persisted, lingering like bruises against their reality, always just out of reach as the whisper echoed hauntingly, tethered to the corners of their memories. And the laughter faded, shadows spilling forth, waiting patiently for the moment hope would shatter once more.“Remember…” it whined, flickering shadows enthralling still; the darkness cooed sweetly, a stark reminder that while they had survived, the hunt was far from over.

Chapter 5: The Rift
The sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm orange hue over U.A. High School’s courtyard. It was the weekend, and the school was abuzz with excitement as students set up for a party. Music blared from portable speakers, and the aroma of various snacks wafted through the air. The atmosphere was lively; laughter echoed around the gathering as friends mingled, catching up and preparing for a night of fun.
Midoriya Izuku adjusted his green scarf, a few strands of hair falling into his forehead. He surveyed the party decorations adorned with streamers and balloons, feeling a familiar flutter of excitement in his stomach. Beside him stood Bakugou Katsuki, his boyfriend, who was busy shoving snacks into his mouth without a care in the world.
“Eat faster, Kacchan! We’re going to miss the best part!” Midoriya exclaimed, his emerald eyes sparkling with enthusiasm.
Bakugou scowled but could barely hide the smirk creeping onto his face. “I’m not gonna miss anything. Just making sure I’m not hungry!”
Todoroki Shouto joined them, his expression as composed as ever. “We should check if everyone is here. The party needs to kick off soon.” He brushed his hair back, revealing the contrasting patches of white and red.
Kaminari Denki darted past them, his laughter filling the air, and was followed closely by Monoma Neito, who was arguing fiercely as they made their way to the snack table. Shinsou Hitoshi trailed a bit behind, a bemused smile on his face, clearly entertained by the duo.
“Honestly, how did you manage to get so many hotdogs?” Monoma scoffed, glaring at Kaminari’s mountainous plate.
“Hey, it’s a party! You’re not supposed to count calories!” Kaminari replied, grinning widely.
Ashido Mina, in a vibrant pink outfit that matched her bubbly personality, popped over next to Kirishima Eijirou. She playfully tugged his arm. “C'mon, Eijirou! Let’s dance!
Everyone’s watching us!”
Kirishima’s face flushed a bright crimson. “W-What? Dance? Right here?”
“Yes, right here!” Mina replied, dragging him onto the makeshift dance floor.
As the music pulsed around them, Midoriya turned to Bakugou, reaching out to grab his hand. “Let’s go join them! We can’t be the only ones standing here!”
Bakugou smirked and squeezed Midoriya’s hand, their fingers intertwining. “Fine, but only for a little bit. I’m not some dance monkey.”
While they joined the crowd, Jirou Kyouka was setting up her own small stage, preparing to perform. Yaoyorozu Momo stood by, helping her adjust the instruments with an encouraging smile. Aizawa Shouta, or Eraserhead, leaned against a nearby wall, half-asleep, while his partner, Yamada Hizashi—Present Mic—was busy hyping everyone up, his melodious voice carrying across the courtyard.
“Tonight’s the night! Let’s make some memories!” Yamada announced, turning up the volume.
As laughter and vibrant music enveloped the courtyard, the group felt a sense of unity. But in the depths of the darkness beyond the school grounds, a different kind of energy began to stir, an unsettling, eerie presence that would soon turn their night upside down.
As the party continued, Todoroki wandered away from the crowd, the music fading into the background as he ventured near the school's old training building, a place filled with memories of grueling training and personal growth. A strange pulsating light caught his attention, emanating from a crack in the wall—a flickering, glowing opening that seemed to breathe against the darkness.
“What…?” Todoroki stepped closer, curiosity piqued. His chest tightened with an unexplainable fear mixed with intrigue. He reached out his hand, fingers brushing against the cool surface of the portal. The moment he did, a shockwave of energy surged through him, causing his heart to race.
Monoma, who was still bickering with Kaminari nearby, suddenly stopped as he noticed Todoroki’s absence. “Oi, where’s Todoroki?” he snapped, frustration rising. “He’s supposed to be back in a minute; he has my phone!”
“Chill out, Monoma. He probably just wandered off,” Kaminari replied, rolling his eyes.
“I’m going to find him,” Monoma declared, impatience fueling his actions as he trotted off into the shadows toward the training building.
As Todoroki stood before the portal, it glowed brighter, revealing swirling patterns within its depths. The air turned electric, and with a deep breath, he stepped through, curiosity overcoming his caution. The moment he crossed the threshold, the world around him flickered and shifted, engulfing him in blinding light.
Back at the party, Bakugou and Midoriya were in the middle of a casual dance, bodies moving in rhythm. The beat thrummed through them as the crowd cheered and swayed. The moment felt perfect until a strange flicker in the air caught Bakugou's eye.
“What the hell is that?” He narrowed his eyes, pulling Midoriya closer as they observed the spectacle. Suddenly, a shout rang out.
“Hey! Where’s Todoroki?!” Monoma burst back into view, panting and out of breath. “He disappeared!”
Midoriya's expression turned serious instantly, he realized he forgot about his other boyfriend, his dominant nature rising to the forefront. “We need to find him. Everyone, let’s split up and look for him!”
Ashido nodded, her excitement dulling into concern. “I’ll go with you, Deku!”
“I’m coming too!” Kaminari said, eyes wide with worry.
Without hesitation, the group began to disperse, but Bakugou grabbed Midoriya's arm, pulling him back gently. “You’re not going anywhere alone. We stick together.”
Suddenly, a loud crack echoed, and everyone turned to see a distortion rippling through the air. It was where Todoroki had ventured, now visible but pulsating ominously.
“What is that?” Jirou asked, her skepticism evident. “It wasn’t there a minute ago!”
“Whatever it is, it can’t be good,” Aizawa said, coming to stand beside Yamada. “Stay close to each other.”
“Shouto was right here,” Midoriya stressed, determination etched on his face. “If he went in there, we have to follow!”
Before Bakugou could protest, Midoriya pushed forward. “Let’s go!”
In another world, Todoroki found himself amidst a swirling vortex of shadows and lights. Colors bled together in a surreal display, and the landscape shifted, resembling a warped cityscape. Monoma arrived right after him, just in time to find Shouto struggling to orient himself.
“Todoroki!” Monoma yelled as he crossed the threshold, “What did you get us into?”
“I don’t know!” Todoroki shouted back, a mix of adrenaline and fear coursing through him. “But it’s too dark here. We need to find a way back now!”
Before they knew it, the air around them thickened, and a chilling laughter echoed through the dimension. The shadows twisted around them, and figures began to emerge from the darkness—creatures that seemed to absorb light rather than reflect it. They snarled and hissed, lunging toward the two boys.
“Todoroki, move!” Monoma shouted, using his quirk to create barriers of sound that momentarily held the creatures back.
Todoroki instinctively summoned his ice, fingers trembling as he concentrated. He released a wave of ice, encasing some of the creatures but realizing more were coming. Each movement felt heavy; their mere presence drained the warmth from the air surrounding him.
“What the hell are these things?” Monoma gasped, his voice echoing off the warped surfaces surrounding them.
“They’re not from our world,” Todoroki said, fear washing over him. “We need to find an exit!”
Suddenly, the creatures that had been trapped in ice began to break free, their eyes now glowing with malice. As Todoroki directed another ice attack, the ground beneath them trembled, and more shadows poured forth, overwhelming their defenses.
Back at the party, the remaining friends gazed at the rift forming before them.
“We have to go in after them!” Midoriya declared, determination filling his voice. “They’re in danger!”
“No, that’s too risky!” Bakugou argued, worry creeping into his tone. “We can’t just jump into an unknown dimension! I know we need to find Shouto, but how are we going to find them in a place we don't understand ourselves?!”
“But we can’t leave them!” Midoriya fought back, standing tall, voice unwavering.
“Then I guess we all go together,” Ashido chimed in with urgency as everyone else agreed, sharing worried glances.
Bakugou clenched his fists, growing frustrated but ultimately relenting, “Fine then. Let’s do this! We’ll save them and kick some ass while we’re at it!”
Seizing the moment, the group hand-in-hand, they charged at the portal together, leaping into the unknown.
The moment they entered the rift, reality shifted around them. They landed awkwardly on the ground, disoriented but quickly regaining their footing. Midoriya sprang to action, scanning their surroundings.
“Where are they?” he asked, eyes wide, trying to shake off the dread creeping up his spine.
“Over there!” Kaminari pointed as he spotted a flicker of ice in the distance.
As they dashed toward the source, they caught sight of Todoroki and Monoma, struggling against the shadowy figures that loomed menacingly around them.
“Get away from him!” Midoriya shouted, charging forward and instilling confidence into the group.
They moved as one, unleashing their quirks in a synchronized attack. Ashido’s acid splashed against the creatures, while Kirishima transformed, shielding his friends from incoming attacks. Jirou and Yaoyorozu worked together to create makeshift weapons, launching sound blasts and constructs against the ominous darkness.
Amidst the chaos, Todoroki and Monoma successfully defended each other. But just as they seemed to gain the upper hand, a figure stepped forward from the shadows, darker and more menacing than the rest.
It spoke in a booming voice, filled with malice. “You think you can challenge the darkness? You’ve made a grave mistake by coming here!”
The air thickened, and an icy chill gripped the party members, paralyzing them momentarily. Fear washed over them, and the shadows loomed closer, hungry for chaos.
“Damn it! Stay together!” Bakugou yelled, blasting at the advancing shadows while Midoriya rallied everyone around him.
“Focus! We can beat this thing!” Midoriya’s voice resounded with determination, standing tall as he prepared for the fight ahead.
But almost as soon as they took a stand, a deafening roar filled the air, signaling the nightmarish shadow creature's attack. Just as it lunged toward them with its elongated claws, the ground shook, and a wave of darkness erupted forth, engulfing them in chaos.
Before anyone could react, a blinding flash erupted through the atmosphere, illuminating the shadows. The last thing they saw before everything exploded into chaos was the dark figure lunging toward Todoroki and Monoma, whose fate hung precariously in the balance.
And in an instant, darkness engulfed them all.
The world shifted again, and Todoroki and Monoma found themselves fighting through the onslaught of shadowy figures that clawed at them viciously. The chilling laughter of the dark creature echoed through the air, and Todoroki felt his heart pound in his chest.
“Todoroki!” Monoma shouted, dodging an attack just in time. “We can’t keep this up forever! Do you have a plan?!”
“I—” Todoroki gasped, casting a glance over to the relentless creatures that surrounded them. He was drained, his ice attacks slowing as panic washed over him. “I don’t know how much longer I can hold them back. We need to find a way to defeat that thing!”
Just then, one of the shadows lunged toward Monoma, its claws aimed straight for his throat. Todoroki reacted instinctively, summoning a wall of ice to block the attack, but the force behind it sent a shockwave through him. He felt his energy waning.
“Todoroki!” Monoma yelled, dodging sideways as more shadows rushed toward them. “Keep your focus! We have to retreat to regroup!”
“I can’t—I can’t just leave you!” Todoroki insisted, desperation rising in his voice. The cold air seemed to thicken, pressing down on him. “I won’t abandon you!”
From the darkness, the true dark creature loomed larger, crackling with dark energy. “You think you can protect him? You will regret this foolishness!”
“No!” Monoma shouted back defiantly. “We won’t perish here!”
But before they could escape, the shadow creature unleashed a powerful blast of energy, stunning both boys. Pain exploded through Todoroki’s chest as he struggled to shield Monoma, the darkness consuming his vision. He felt his consciousness slipping away, the weight of the shadows pressing heavily on his shoulders.
“Todoroki!” Monoma cried, horror in his voice.
As Todoroki fell to his knees, gasping for air, he felt Monoma’s hand gripping his shoulder tightly, a lifeline in the chaos.
“We have to persevere!” Monoma urged, his quirk flaring to keep the shadows at bay. “We need to find a way out! Together!”
Suddenly, the portal flickered in the distance as Midoriya and the others burst into view, charging toward Todoroki and Monoma, their powers generating a hopeful light amidst the darkness.
“Hang on! We’re coming!” Midoriya shouted, determination etched on his face.
But just as they reached the two boys, the shadow creature roared in defiance, launching itself forward, teeth bared, darkness swirling around it like a storm.
“Get down!” Bakugou yelled, letting off a fierce explosion in its direction.
The explosion shook the ground, causing the shadow creature to recoil briefly. In that moment, Midoriya rushed forward, reaching desperately for Todoroki and Monoma. “We’re not leaving you behind! Not now!”
Todoroki’s hazy vision sharpened as he felt Midoriya’s presence next to him. He clutched Monoma’s hand tighter, fighting against the overwhelming darkness under the strength of his friends.
“Together!” Midoriya shouted, rallying everyone as they combined their quirks, unleashing a powerful wave of energy toward the encroaching shadows.
With a final surge of strength from both sides, they coalesced their powers, creating a blinding light that pierced through the darkness. The creatures shrieked, releasing Monoma and Todoroki as they were pushed back, and the dark creature froze momentarily, its form flickering.
“Now! Attack!” Midoriya commanded, determination radiating from him.
In an epic concert of quirks, they unleashed a torrent of power—fire, ice, electricity, sound, and acid intertwining beautifully in the air as they targeted the shadow creature, giving it everything they had.
The creature let out a deafening roar as the light consumed it, and in one final explosion, darkness shattered into shards, puncturing the night and dissipating.
As silence enveloped them, the air was still heavy with energy, the remnants of the battle hanging like a thick fog. Breathing heavily, Todoroki looked around, bewildered but relieved. Exhausted, he leaned against Monoma, who smiled weakly, already trying to reassure him despite the pain.
“You did good, Todoroki,” he said softly.
Midoriya dashed over, concern etched on his face. “Are you okay? What happened? We were worried!”
“I’m fine,” Todoroki replied, though he couldn’t hide the trembling in his voice. “Just… a little shaken.”
Bakugou stormed over, hands on his hips, annoyance mixed with undeniable concern. “You guys are lucky we got here when we did! What kind of stupid idea was it to wander off like that?”
“But… the portal…” Todoroki began, his thoughts still muddled. “It called to me. I couldn’t ignore it…”
“The rift must have been a trap,” Aizawa stepped forward, his gaze serious, his earlier half-asleep demeanor long gone. “It’s connected to something dark. We need to investigate before it opens again.”
“Not without a plan,” Yamada added, his voice heavy with gravity. “We can’t allow something like this to happen again.”
Midoriya nodded, determination flooding him anew. “Whatever it takes, we’ll face it together. We’re stronger as a team, and we'll uncover what this thing really is!”
As the group gathered together, newfound resolve emanating from them, Todoroki felt comforted by the presence of his friends and partners. Even in the face of darkness, they would find the light again.
They found a bunker and they walked in and they somehow bumped into a group and they exchanged names..
But they was still in the darkness and the growling they heard means there's more....
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
Chapter 6: Unraveling ThreadsThis was meant to be the chapter where the group meets each other, but it wouldn't save. So, here's Chapter 7. And NO, I WON'T BE REWRITING CHAPTER 6—just use your imagination to envision how they met. Thanks for the two kudos! The room settled into an uneasy silence after the battle, echoes of the creature’s snarls dissipating into the heavy air. Shadows lingered at the edges of their surroundings, whispering secrets to one another in voices lost to the darkness.Todoroki, still shaken from the encounter, leaned heavily against Monoma, catching his breath. “What was that thing? It felt like it was feeding off of our fears,” he muttered, rubbing his arms as if that would erase the chill creeping into his bones.“I don’t know, but if we don’t get out of here soon, we’ll be its next meal,” Monoma replied, brushing some dirt off his clothes with a grimace. At that moment, Bakugou let out an irritated growl. “Can we please stop standing around and get moving? If those monsters were here once, they can come back. We need to figure out what caused that rift.” His fiery attitude never wavered, but beneath it all, concern for his friends flickered like embers.“We should stick together,” Midoriya said, glancing at everyone gathered. “If we separate, we increase the risk of getting picked off one by one. We’ve seen that happen already.”Ashido shivered slightly, peering into the darkness. “Right… about that darkness? It felt alive, like it wanted to reach out and pull us under. I don’t like it one bit.” Her vibrant demeanor waned, replaced with a somber edge reflective of the fear that now anchored their reality.“Let’s just find a way out, okay?” Kirishima interjected, trying to rally the group. “We need to locate any exits or something that could help us command this distortion before it pulls us back in.”“Good idea,” Todoroki agreed. “A rift like this can’t remain stable for long. It’s bound to cause more chaos if we don’t deal with it.”“Are we all okay, though?” Iwaizumi chimed in, his voice earnest as he looked around. “Kiyo? Have you taken your meds?”Sakusa was unusually quiet; he stood apart from the group, his dark eyes scanning the shadows. The pulse of anxiety and his germaphobia seemed to ripple through him, every echo heightening his senses. “I took them earlier, but it’s hard to focus with everything going on. It feels like there are whispers just out of reach,” he admitted, his voice low, the tremor in it audible.“We need you sharp, man,” Bakugou said flatly, but there was an undertone of concern layered beneath his bravado. “Stay close, alright?”A flicker of acknowledgment crossed Sakusa’s face, and he nodded, though his brow remained furrowed. “Let’s try to get moving while we have this chance.”As the group began to cautiously maneuver deeper into the depths of the unknown, the labyrinthine corridors branched out in various directions, each shrouded in an unsettling darkness. The air felt thick and heavy, seeping into their lungs like a forgotten weight—a sinister grip of dread that wrapped tightly around them.In the swirling darkness, the memories of their encounter loomed like a shadow.Meanwhile, Oikawa gripped Atsumu’s shirt tightly as they surveyed their surroundings. “Are you sure you’re okay? You blanked out for a moment back there,” he said, worry etching deep lines across his forehead.“I… I think I’m fine now,” Atsumu replied, running a hand through oikawa disheveled hair. “But it feels like we’re trapped in a nightmare. That creature… it felt like it was feeding on my despair.”“Same here,” Oikawa admitted, casting his gaze around. “We can’t lose hope. Together, we can get through this, right?”Atsumu smiled, even fighting off the creeping darkness surrounding them. “Right. We’ll find a way out. We always do.”Oikawa squeezed Atsumu’s hand reassuringly, as if that connection would ground them both amidst the impending chaos. The darkness thrummed around them, laughter echoing like a haunting melody just beyond their reach. Before they could find their footing, a sudden gust swept through the hallway, chilling them to the bone. Shadows loomed larger, swirling closer until—“Run!” Atsumu shouted, yanking Oikawa as they sprinted down a narrow passage. The shadows clawed behind them, dark tendrils grasping and reaching as if alive, inching closer with every frantic step they took.Back with the others, Midoriya and the team advanced cautiously, eyes scanning their surroundings.“Keep moving!” Midoriya shouted, adrenaline coursing through him as they rushed deeper into the labyrinth. They turned a corner, finding a dimly lit room lined with walls carved from stone, remnants of something ancient.“What is this place?” Kaminari wondered aloud, the awe in his voice tinged with fear.“There seems to be some sort of altar here,” Momo observed, brushing her fingers across an intricately designed table adorned with symbols they didn’t recognize. “But it feels wrong…”“Let’s not linger,” Bakugou said, agitation growing as he prowled the perimeter of the room. “If the others got pulled into the darkness, we’re gonna have to think quick.”Suddenly, a damp chill filled the room, shadows stretching along the walls as laughter echoed menacingly, slipping into their ears like whispers laced with malice.“Why are we still here?” Ashido gasped, spinning around with wide eyes. “We should go after them—now!”Midoriya felt a crawling sensation at the back of his neck. “We need to find the others! They might have already found a way to—”Before he could finish his sentence, the shadows surged forward and coalesced into a tangible form before them.It was the same dark creature they had faced earlier, no longer a shadow but fully revealed—a monstrous figure swollen with darkness, its eyes burning like coals, teeth sharp and glistening.“For trespassing on sacred ground, you will pay!” it roared, lunging forward with raw strength.Meanwhile, as Oikawa and Atsumu navigated the winding corridors, the relentless shadows chased them with disturbing ghoulish delight. They turned a corner, breathlessness amplifying as the creature’s laughter echoed tauntingly, reverberating through their bones. The air felt electric, crammed with the palpable tension of imminent dread, and shadows curled around their feet like serpents.“Atsumu! This way! We can’t keep running forever!” Oikawa urged. “We need to find an exit, or we’ll—”Suddenly, a dark presence surged into their path, blocking their way forward.“Leave now, or join the feast…” it sneered, eyes glimmering ominously, beckoning them forward. The grin that stretched across its face sent chills down Atsumu’s spine.“No! We won’t be your prey!” Atsumu yelled defiantly, adrenaline coursing through him.“Very well, then. Let’s see how long you can last!” The creature lunged forward, shadows erupting from its form, sweeping across the floor toward the two boys.“Run!” Oikawa screamed, pulling Atsumu along. They dashed into a side corridor, shadows snapping at their heels.Back with Midoriya’s group, directed by sheer instinct, the creature surged once more to meet them.“Get down!” Bakugou roared, blasting a wave of flames toward their foe, but the darkness twisted around it, absorbing the heat and growing ever closer.“Keep your wits about you!” Midoriya cried out, forming the strongest shield he could conjure from his quirk to protect them from the dark wave threatening to crash on them. “We won’t let it win! We have to work together!”The darkness screamed in rage, expanding further as it advanced, relentless in its pursuit. Jirou and Ashido combined their quirks, sending sound waves and acid through the space in an attempt to dismantle the creature’s defenses. But it didn’t budge—the sound waves rebounded off the shadowy exterior, and the shadows surged against them, claws extending to lash out at their comrades.Suddenly, the air shimmered, and with a clash of power, Todoroki and Monoma burst back through the rift, wide-eyed and breathless. “We need to fight back—together!”“Glad you could join the party!” Bakugou scowled, launching himself toward the creature, flames igniting once again. With heightened intensity, their combined forces converged, unleashing their quirks into a resolute front. Fire, ice, electricity, and sound melded together, creating a desperate crescendo against the encroaching darkness.“Let’s finish this!” Midoriya shouted, energizing his friends. The creature recoiled at the barrage of light; they pressed harder, amplifying the collision of their quirks toward the malevolent entity, suddenly feeling the tide beginning to shift.“Together! Now!” Todoroki yelled, uniting their powers in one final, united effort. The shadows screamed in rage, twisting violently as their combined strength exploded with blinding brilliance. The darkness began to falter, blasting into fragments as it recoiled from the assault. With one last surge of energy, the light burst forth, illuminating the darkened space until the shadows shattered like glass, dissipating against the fervent flame of their light.Silence blanketed the aftermath, heavy yet charged with newfound hope. Each one of them breathed deeply, relief washing over them as fragments of night faded into the ether.“We did it…” Oikawa breathed, glancing at Atsumu beside him, who nodded, overwhelmed but unbroken. But Breaths were still short as Midoriya turned toward the group, feeling the oppressive weight of reality settle around them once more. “We survived, yes, but we can’t drop our guard. What else lurks out there?”Aizawa stepped forward, his expression serious. “The rift may be unstable. We need to ensure we understand its origin before more entities emerge from it. The darkness is relentless.”“So we keep moving, stay together, and figure this out,” Bakugou declared resolutely, fiery determination in his eyes. “Let’s go.”And as they walked through the corridor, leaving shards of darkness behind, they felt the bond of friendship intertwining tighter. They knew they were stronger together, planning their next move, caring for those around them, determined to face whatever perils awaited them in their journey. But unbeknownst to them, in the shadows where the darkness now ebbed, a figure lingered, watching with a malignant grin as they scuttled deeper into the abyss. “So delightful,” it whispered, “the games just started”..
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
The echo of their footsteps reverberated in the increasingly oppressive atmosphere as the group pressed forward, hearts still racing from the fight against the creature. Their surroundings seemed to close in around them, the shadows whispering their fears and regrets in a symphony of sinister laughter.“What’s next?” Ashido asked, glancing nervously back the way they came. “Are we even going the right way?”“Without a map, it’s hard to say,” Iwaizumi replied, trying to reassure her. “But we need to keep moving. We can’t let this place overwhelm us.”As they trekked deeper into the labyrinth, Norman’s warning echoed in their minds, reminding them of the darkness they faced. “The rift is unstable. We must ensure nothing comes through that can truly destroy us.”“I just wish we could have saved him,” Todoroki murmured, guilt weighing him down.“He sacrificed himself to give us a fighting chance,” Midoriya reminded him, determination flickering in his eyes. “We owe it to him to keep going.”Their resolve steeled, the group pressed onward, navigating the twisted corridors that branched before them like a spider's web. The heavy air felt electric, buzzed with an unseen energy, a foreboding promise of impending danger lingering in the corners of the darkened paths.“I don’t like this.” Sakusa’s voice trembled slightly as he peered into the shadows, the pulse of anxiety radiating from him more pronounced now. “It feels like something is watching us.”Suddenly, the light from their flashlights flickered, plunging them deeper into darkness before they buzzed back to life—each of them holding their breath as if the shadows themselves held the very air captive.“It’s just a power fluctuation,” Monoma said with forced bravado, but even he couldn’t mask the tension in his voice.“Let’s keep moving! No holding back!” Bakugou growled, igniting his fists. “We’re not going to let a goddamn phantom scare us off!”As they pressed ahead, a flicker of movement caught Midoriya’s eye. “Did anyone else see that?” He stopped, turning back, pulse quickening.“It’s probably just the shadows,” Jirou said but didn’t seem to believe it herself.“No. No, this feels different. I can feel it—there’s something here,” Midoriya said, brow furrowing. Before anyone could respond, the air distorted, swirling around them as darkness pooled before them, coalescing into a familiar shape. It was a figure draped in shadows, a cruel smile twisted across its features.“No...” Atsumu’s voice trembled as he took a step back. “This can’t be…”“It’s not possible…” Oikawa breathed, eyes wide with disbelief.“Ah, children,” the figure spoke, voice smooth yet dripping with malice. “Did you think you could escape so easily? You should have known I would find you, especially after your dear friend helped us along.”“Where is Norman?” Midoriya stepped forward, fists clenched tight, as the others gathered behind him, forming a united front. The figure tilted its head, dark laughter echoing around them, reverberating against the walls of the corridor. “Oh, the boy with such potential? He was quite… delicate. I can’t say I enjoyed the process, but I felt it was necessary for his talents to flourish—much like the darkness that surrounds you.”“No… no!” Oikawa shouted, stepping forward, horror etched on his face. “You’re lying! You’re lying!”The figure chuckled, every note laced with cruel delight. “Oh, but what would a little darkness be without motivation? A pity he truly thought he could hold it all back. His sacrifice was noble, but futile.”“Show yourself!” Midoriya shouted, heart pounding. “What have you done with him?”The shadowy figure began to morph, revealing a warped vision of Norman, his once-bright eyes clouded with darkness, a sinister grin cutting across his face. “I’ve unlocked his potential. Free him from the shackles of light, as he was always meant to be! Come, join us, children! Embrace the shadows.”“No!” Bakugou roared, charging forward. “You won’t have him! He’s one of us!”With a crash of flames, he leapt at the figure, and the air ignited in a furious blaze of heat. But just as the attack reached its target, the figure flickered, vanishing into dark smoke that began to swirl around them, consuming everything in its engulfing embrace.“Get back!” Midoriya shouted. “We need to cut through the darkness! It’s not really him!”But suddenly, the shadows lashed out, tendrils snaking around their ankles and pulling at them as the walls seemed to close in.The last thing they heard was a haunting laugh that echoed through the chamber, chilling their bones. “You cannot escape the darkness! One by one, I shall take them until only despair remains!”As they struggled against the malevolence gripping them, Midoriya shouted, “Focus! Don’t give in to fear!”But as the darkness consumed them, one thought rang clear in their minds: They had lost Norman to the darkness, and now they were next. Then, silence fell, swallowed in the heavy embrace of shadows, leaving only the gnawing ache of their fear behind. The last image they held was Norman's once warm smile now distorted by the horror of the abyss—a reminder that darkness had indeed taken root, and this battle was far from over. And in the depths of that stillness, the figure lingered, basking in the chaos it had wrought and whispering sweet promises of despair, eternal and unyielding. “The game has only just begun…”As laughter echoed in the darkened void, the shadows drew closer, threatening to claim the remnants of light that still flickered within the hearts of the heroes. They realized, too late, that the battle had only begun, and darkness was ready to consume them all.
