The Darkness of You

Work Text

Silently, Katsuki looked out of the window into the darkness. The light of a broken lantern flickered in the stained glass of the church window that reached up to the ceiling of the old church he was supposed to call... home?He had no idea. Shouto had grabbed him and brought him here. Said it wasn't safe anymore. Tsk. As if it had been safe before in that hole... Full of vampires, where he'd been stuck for weeks. With him.
With Shouto.
He pulled the window shut. With an old, dusty curtain that had more holes in it than his old jeans from his teenage years.Behind him, he heard the vampire appear. He manifested himself from many small bats, as one would expect from Count Dracula, and looked at him silently.
Katsuki could smell the blood on his clothes.
"It's safe," he said coolly as always and came closer to the area that could almost be called a living room.
They were in an old, very old and desecrated church. At least he assumed it was desecrated, because otherwise the red and white autistic vampire would have gone up in smoke, and he didn't. It was dusty, cold and dirty. The walls were cracked and there were more spiders in the corners than Katsuki had seen in a long time. The dark wooden floor squeaked with almost every step and in general the place didn't make the best impression.
This church probably hadn't been used for hundreds of years, and it brought back memories of the horror films he liked to watch. An old, shabby church. Well, just the thing for Count Dracula on the run. But if he was honest, anything was better than where they'd come from."Are you sure?" Katsuki asked back. His ears moved. He heard something. An owl. Outside. Inside, everything was quiet. Except for the spiders weaving their homes."Yes." That was all that was said, instead the vampire settled down on a sheet-covered armchair and suppressed a gasp. Katsuki looked at him.
"You're hurt."
“It's nothing,” came back. Katsuki smelled the blood. And he saw it too. It seeped slowly from Shouto's side into the formerly white sheet and coloured it red. Blood red.
"Doesn't look like nothing."
"Nothing for you to worry about."Hmph.Katsuki had seen what had happened. Touya.
The older brother of his personal vampire and a maniacal mass murderer, he had attacked Shouto when he left their old castle with him. Maybe even before. Katsuki hadn't witnessed the beginning of their fight. Nor did he want to. Touya was an asshole. A scumbag and a wretched prick. A son of a bitch. God, he couldn't stand him. It was only him he had to thank for all of this. But Shouto was hurt because of Katsuki. Because he got him out of that hole. If it hadn't been for Shouto, Katsuki probably wouldn't have survived much longer. Or would have died miserably weeks ago.So without saying a word, he walked over to him and knelt down in front of him. His pride allowed it without comment. He pushed aside the ridiculous vampire cloak and reached for the buttons of the dark waistcoat.
Cold fingers encircled his and held him tight. "Don’t." Cold. Almost as cold as his fingers was only his voice.Katsuki ignored him. "Shut up, will you?" He shook his fingers away and opened his vest. Shouto looked at him unhappily. But Shouto rarely looked happy, so this was nothing new.
"It shouldn't matter to you.""And you should shut up. I decide what matters to me and what doesn't, got it?"
He gave him a sharp look that said he'd better not talk back. Not now. And never in general. Then he pushed the vest aside, then the bloodstained white shirt. There was a large cut on his side. Its edge was dark red. Vampire venom. Touya, that bastard. That didn't look good. Nothing, my ass."You should drink."The other one stiffened immediately. And shifted uncomfortably in his chair. When Katsuki looked up at him, he could see all too clearly that everything in the vampire's body was bristling. God, he was annoying."I've got nothing here.""You have me here," Katsuki replied.
"I don't— want you."Katsuki rolled his eyes. Even if it stung a little inside. Just one consequence of many of their nights together... If he had never run away, this wouldn't have happened. Then he wouldn't have been caught by Touya. Then he wouldn't have been put in Shouto's room when Shouto had gone into a bloodlust. Then he wouldn't have been— Instead, he was here now, offering himself to the bloodsucker. What a new low.
"You don't have much of a choice," he said.
"Then I'll take the option where I don't bite you. I'll survive.""Uh-hu. And if your dysfunctional brother or father turn up on the doorstep and ring the bell, then what? You pass out and all for what? For nothing?"Grumbling quietly, Shouto leaned back. Katsuki looked at him. He knew that he was right and Shouto knew it too.
"I can't drink from you, you know that." He sighed and ran his fingers through his red and white hair. Exposing the large scar on his face that he liked to hide. “Besides, no one will show up here. Nobody knows about this place. And it's a church . They can't enter it.""And you? You can?”Shouto looked at him, exhausted. Whatever he and Touya were doing, it took an incredible amount of strength."It's mine. I bought it and as the owner, I can enter without asking permission."The blond werewolf did not look convinced. His ears wiggled. His tail too."Mmm. It won't take much to bring this ruin down."
They might not be the Three Little Pigs, but he was a big bad wolf, and if he could bring this ruin down, so could Touya. Or worse. Enji."It's safe. The ruin is fine."“Just as fine as you with that hole in your side.”
"I'll live."
So fucking stubborn. And someone said that Katsuki was stubborn. They hadn’t met Shouto."You're not even alive. You're dead and you're only alive thanks to dark magic and the blood in your body that's seeping out of you right now."
Grumbling, he pulled his collar aside to reveal his neck, covered in faded scars. Old bites and bruises from their past nights. He hated it, but it was better than his... whatever he was, dying at his feet.
Insisting, he leaned over to the vampire, stretching his neck and tilting his head slightly to the side. "Go on. Drink."
"I... I can't."
"Drink."
"I said. I can't ." It was almost a wolf growl. Almost impressive.
Only Katsuki didn't care, he grabbed Shouto by the collar and pulled him towards him. "It's okay. My body regenerates blood very fast. You know that."
Shouto allowed himself to be pulled forward, but removed Katsuki's hand from his shirt. "I know...", he grumbled. His eyes fixed on Katsuki's countless old wounds and bites. "It just... doesn't make it any easier for me."
"You did it before, so do it now."Shouto pressed his lips together reluctantly. One of his pointed canines dug into his lower lip. Almost cute."I promise you, it's okay."It really was. It wasn't pleasant, but it was all right. Katsuki wouldn't die. His body was practical. Especially for a vampire. His metabolism was fast. Superhuman. He would recover. A little sleep and he would be fit again. With a deep sigh, Shouto leaned forward, giving in. His nose brushed over Katsuki's skin on his neck, slowly travelling up to just below his ear and taking a deep breath of his scent. His breath gave him goosebumps. Cold . But familiar. He took a last deep breath and inhaled Katsuki's scent. "I'm sorry..."
Then it hurt.
The sharp teeth pierced his skin, slowly and painfully, then he felt the warm tongue and the all too familiar feeling of blood being sucked from his body.
It hurt, but it was also a little intoxicating. He closed his eyes. Sighed softly as his body softened and Shouto reached around him to hold him tight. Here he was now. On his knees before a vampire, his teeth in his throat. Soft as butter in his hands, panting weakly. Fuck it.
That was still better than being in this hole. This miserable vampire hole that called itself a castle. Or his former home. That hadn't been better either.Shouto drank from him. Gulp after gulp. He could hear him swallow, feel his breath on his shoulder and the cool fingers on his back.Katsuki didn't fight it. Not like before. Somehow, he even embraced the feeling and let it take over. Then Shouto let go of him, licked the wound and fell backwards. Relaxed. His bloodied lips curled into a sad smile.
If Katsuki didn't hate vampires as much as he did, he would even go so far as to say that he thought Shouto was cute.
The wound at his side closed. Katsuki exhaled loudly.Good.
“Wasn't that hard after all,” he grumbled, holding the wound on his neck covered. It burned like hell, but his body was already releasing happiness hormones. It sucked.
Why did vampire bites feel so good?
When Shouto didn't say anything, Katsuki stood up. He felt dizzy and had to hold on to the chair to keep from falling over when he blacked out for a second.
Shouto immediately grabbed him and held him tight. Katsuki pushed his hand away.
"So what's the plan now?" he asked, taking a step back. He went back to the window and stared at the darkness and the flickering light. He didn't recognise much. Just the broken lantern. A few pine trees and the deep darkness of a moonless night. He heard Shouto sigh.
"I have an acquaintance here. A werewolf. I'll introduce you tomorrow. They'll take you in."
Katsuki spun around. He immediately felt a knot forming in his stomach, making it hard for him to breathe.
"What?!" he hissed.

Shouto would— he would—
"My family doesn't know this place. It will be safe for you here–""And then what?" he cut him off. "Then you'll just fuck off?!"
The vampire prince looked down at his hands in resignation before returning Katsuki's gaze. Cool, emotionless and yet so full of sadness.“I shouldn't be part of your life. I should never have been. My brother brought you here against your will–"Katsuki growled angrily, the sharp fangs of a werewolf extended and ready to bite. "No part of my life? Well. I'm afraid I'll have to disappoint you! You have mated me . You can't just fuck off!"The vampire looked down, sad. Mmm. Asshole. Katsuki should be sad. He was mated! By a vampire ! But did he cry about it? Fuck. No.
Or not anymore.Whatever.Shouto dissolved into a thousand bats and darkness, only to manifest on the opposite wall. "Katsuki," he began. "I can't stay with you after everything I've done to you."
The blond snarled, but then rolled his eyes. That shit again, of course. As if Katsuki would care. Because he didn't.He crossed his arms in front of his chest. Defensively."I don't feel like a victim, okay? So don't make me feel like one. I felt more humiliated with your brother and your father's experiment than I did the first night you fucked me." He was silent for a moment. "It felt good, after all."
Shouto looked at him guiltily. If Katsuki told anyone that he had found the only vampire who felt anything like remorse and guilt, everyone would laugh at him and he wouldn't mind. But here he was. Shouto Todoroki. One of the most powerful vampires in this godforsaken world and he felt bad for fucking Katsuki.
"It felt good because you're an Omega."
Another eye roll. "I know. I'm used to it. It's no big deal." It was his nature. Omegas just got fucked. Whether they wanted to or not, their bodies didn't care. They had their heat and they needed sex. They always enjoyed it. No big deal.
The vampire probably saw it differently. He shook his head. “It is a big deal. You shouldn't be used to it. It's your body. And I am... I'm so incredibly sorry..."Katsuki didn't want to hear it.
"Just shut up, little vampire. You've apologised a thousand times, I'm almost tired of hearing it.""I'm bigger than you. Werewolf."
"The bigger idiot, maybe."Shouto looked at him. Katsuki snorted."Maybe.""So that's the plan? You're going to leave me here and fuck off? After everything? You know the nature of a werewolf. An Omega . Do you want me to suffer? You've mated me. If you leave me alone, it'll be—
You can't just leave... Besides—" he ran his hands over his stomach, almost casually. “How am I supposed to explain this ?”
They hadn't talked about it yet. Not really.
It wasn't Katsuki's way, but the last few weeks were what they were and here he was.
"Kirishima and I know each other. He trusts me. He won't ask any questions.""Mhm. Sure. No questions about why I'm carrying a vampire baby. Sure."He didn't even know how he was going to handle it himself. He hadn't planned on getting knocked up by a vampire.
Everything sucked... and his mate had just told him that he was going to leave him... He let his ears drop.Shouto came closer, slowly and almost cautiously, but as if it was his right , he took Katsuki. His cool body enveloped Katsuki's in a cloud of darkness.
A cool hand rested on his still-flat stomach, stroking it very carefully. "You... You don't have to keep it if you don't want to..." he said so quietly that Katsuki almost didn't understand. His nose pressed into Katsuki's temple. "You don't have to keep me . I got you out of there so you'd have a choice. I want you to be free, Katsuki.""But I can't. Not anymore," the blond muttered back and let himself fall into Shouto's cold embrace much too willingly. Fuck. He hated himself for it. But... it was just his nature. "You can't just leave me like this. I'm not a dog you can abandon. I'm a werewolf. We mate for eternity. You did this to me."
He turned in the embrace and pressed his nose into Shouto's shoulder. Breathed in his scent. Blood, lilies and disaster. And yet so comfortingly familiar. Shouto was his home.
He had claimed him. He couldn't leave.
No matter what he did to him, he couldn't leave.
Shouto's fingers ran through his hair, holding him close. He sighed. Deep and heavy.
"Okay..."

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

Katsuki knew he was screwed when the hairs on the back of his neck stood up. He hadn't even heard him approach him. By then, the foul smell of decaying flesh was already in his nose and ice-cold hands on his skin.

And by that point it was already too late.

“You'll make a perfect present for my little brother, little wolf.”

♱

The wretched vampire didn't treat him gently, on the contrary. Katsuki even had the feeling that the white-haired psycho with the rotting flesh enjoyed hurting him on purpose. Well, he hadn't expected anything else from these miserable bloodsuckers anyway. They all sucked equally.

The vampire hadn't introduced himself, just dragged him down a stone staircase into a cellar without much effort. God. This was going to end badly. Katsuki already knew that he probably wouldn't get out of here alive.

Those damned bloodsuckers! Miserable walking corpses! Fucking vampires!

"Don't look at me like that, sweetheart. You'll like him. He may be a little out of it now, but he's quite nice. And you smell like a nice snack. I'd keep you for myself, but my little brother needs you more."

"Fuck you!" the blond yelled back before gasping loudly as the vampire slammed him into a wall. He caught him again with a firm grip. Firm wasn't an accurate description. His grip was iron. And cold.

Katsuki was not weak. But this bastard was simply incredibly strong. Probably the strongest he had ever encountered.

The son of a vampire whore opened a heavy steel door that creaked loudly and scraped heavily across the floor. Katsuki felt sick to his stomach. This would be his grave. Right here, right now. Maybe later, when they had sucked him dry and tortured him. Internally, he resigned himself to his life. He hadn't had a good one anyway. His old pack sucked, and as an Omega, he'd simply been dealt an ass hand for life, doomed to be treated like a piece of meat. And that's exactly what he would be now. Lunch for a vampire. One that was

locked

down here.

“Brother dear!” his captor shouted into the room, laughing disgustingly happy. “Brought you something!” Then Katsuki was shoved into the room. He stumbled and fell to his knees.

His hands were already bruised and hurt like hell as he scraped across the floor again. The vampire laughed to himself before pulling the door shut and wishing him “ Have fun”.

He heard a key turn and knew that he was trapped.

That was it, he thought to himself. So much for starting a new life. So much for he'd fuck off and catch up on his degree. So much for 'I don't need you'....

He got up. A strange smell hit his nose. Less disgusting than the other's. No rotting flesh. Just the smell of death, lilies. And corruption.

His heart began to pound.

Then he was yanked off his feet and thrown across the room.

“Take him back Touya!”

Katsuki found himself at the other end of the room, cowering against the wall. His head hurt. Fuck.

In front of the iron door stood a young man - well, young was probably a matter of opinion - banging wildly against it. His hands were bleeding. And the rest of him looked very battered, too. He was wearing a shirt that had once been white. Once white because it was covered in blood down the neck. Shit...

The blonde pulled himself up and held on to the cold wall. His body ached from the impact. And he felt a little sick at the thought that he was trapped here with one of them. That he would end up as dinner. A midnight snack. Maybe he should have stayed with the pack... but he just had to talk so big. Typical him and his big mouth. That's what he got for it.

"Touya!" the other shouted and after a long moment of silence, when it was clear to everyone that he wouldn't get an answer, he turned his head sharply to Katsuki. "You."

Everything stopped inside Katsuki. His heart, his breathing. Every thought.

Fuck.

He couldn't even breathe in, then the other one stood in front of him. Suddenly and abruptly. Katsuki hadn't even seen him move. And so close that he pressed Katsuki with his whole body against the wall. He couldn't breathe.

The vampire was a bit taller than him, maybe half a head taller, but his presence was overwhelming. More overpowering than anything else. Not even the alphas of his pack were as intense. Even the rather handsome face didn't help.

His breath was cold when it touched Katsuki's cheek, making her shiver. As cold as his gaze. One gray eye, one icy blue. Both fixed on him. Like a hunter. And Katsuki was the unfortunate prey.

Reflexively, he pushed him away. "Don't touch me!" he blurted out as the other staggered away from him. "Fucking vampire!"

His heart pounded against his chest as his survival instinct kicked in.

The vampire looked at him. And though his eyes were cold as ice, they seemed to glow. Like fire on a cold winter's night.

Fuck. He was going to die here. That much was certain.

The light flickered, and the second it was completely dark, the blond found himself pinned against the wall again. He was turned around. His face was pressed against the cold wall. A cold hand dug through his blond hair and held him down. Automatically, he pressed his hands against the wall to resist, but it was no use.

The vampire pressed against his back and held him captive. He was sandwiched between two walls.

When cool lips brushed against his neck, he felt sick to his stomach. This touch only stirred unpleasant feelings in him. Memories of unwanted affection, unwanted intimacy…

“Don't—” he forced out, bracing himself further against the wall. He realized somewhere that there was no point in trying to reason with this monster that was about to eat him, but there really wasn't much more he could do right now. And he wasn't going to give up without a fight. Never. Not even in the face of the impossible.

The vampire licked over his skin. Almost testing whether Katsuki was to his liking. Disgusting.

He inhaled his scent deeply. Like a werewolf. And Katsuki felt his stomach flutter as his inner beast reacted.

Fuck, please not now! Why was his body such a terrible traitor? Why did he always have to react to such humiliation with arousal? Wasn't it enough that he was about to be eaten and killed, did it have to turn him on as well?

"Damn... why do you have to smell so damn good?" he gasped against Katsuki's skin. Once again, he inhaled his scent. Deeply and somehow disturbingly satisfied. Vampires weren't supposed to react that much to scents, especially not to those of a werewolf... "As if Touya made you..." he swallowed. Strained. As if he was holding himself back. " — Made you just for me..."

Katsuki breathed in desperately.

That's it.

“-hgh-!”

Suddenly he was yanked around again and the vampire threw him across the room a second time. He landed more comfortably than the first flight, though.

On a bed.

The vampire writhed and it looked like he was in incredible pain. His hands clawed at his red and white hair, he groaned, growled and finally dropped to one knee. His hands trembled, his whole body shook, then he spun around to face Katsuki again.

“Stay away!” he snapped at him, as if it was his fault he was here. As if he had chosen this, as if he had wanted this!

What kind of fucked-up hell had his destiny plunged him into now?

A wretched bloodsucker who licked him and then flung him across the room, writhing as if he were in pain. So much so that Katsuki even felt a little pity. If only for a few seconds.

Because the pity vanished when the vampire caught him, when his eyes lit up and he was with him in a split second, crouching over him and pressing him into the much too soft mattress.

The following pain in his back made him scream. The vampire had not only ripped the jacket from his body, but had also torn his back open.

Shit...

Katsuki looked over his shoulder with tears in his eyes. He saw how the other licked his fingers with a dark look. Licking his blood with almost disgusting pleasure. Something was happening inside him, Katsuki could see it clearly. Something unbelievably fragile was breaking. He could literally hear it splintering as ice-cold gray-blue pierced into deep red.

The blood-stained lips curved into a small, satisfied smile. "Sweet..."

Katsuki spun around in a panic, trying to get out of the other's reach. His back burned and felt wet. He could feel his blood seeping out of him.

"Stay away, you miserable bloodsucker," he growled, his voice cracking. His ears pricked back as fear tore through his bones. He was going to die here.

The vampire grabbed his foot and pulled Katsuki back to him as if he weighed nothing. Like a small child, he pulled Katsuki to him and held him, no matter how much Katsuki tried to fight. The second foot was easily fended off by the vampire, and pushed back onto the bed.

A quick movement and Katsuki was back on his stomach on the bed, his nose in a soft pillow stained with his own blood.

"Little werewolf..." he heard the deep voice whispering above him. The vampire was kneeling over him, holding him down, pinned to the bed. One hand in his hair, holding his head down, the other running over his torn back. He ran his hand over each wound, slowly and carefully, before he plunged his claws into him, tearing them open even more.

Katsuki howled softly. Ouch... That hurt.

"You... smell so... good..."

He let go of Katsuki's head only to hold him down with his weight. The werewolf couldn't escape. He couldn't move, couldn't breathe properly, all he could feel was pain and fear and a strange arousal.

"...I'm sorry..."

And then the vampire bit down and a sharp pain exploded in Katsuki's neck.

"

Ahhhhhh—-

"

♱

Katsuki jumped up.

His breathing was ragged and he had no idea where he was. It was dark. He didn't recognize anything when he looked around. Fuck. That was just...

“You had a bad dream,” a voice rang out softly, making him flinch violently.

Fuck. Shouto. That was just Shouto. Shouto from reality, not Shouto from his dream. Not... him.

He was drenched in sweat and his heart was racing wildly. But he was not there anymore. No longer in that basement, in that hole with a crazy, drugged, hungry vampire prince, and that calmed him down. Instead, the vampire prince was sitting at the foot of the bed next to him on an old, worn armchair, probably looking at him.

Katsuki couldn't see him. Only heard him. He didn't breathe. He didn't have to anymore. But Katsuki could still hear him. How his fingers ran over the chair, how the fabric of his clothes rubbed against it.

Katsuki took a deep breath. Fuck. The dream was intense. The memories were overwhelming. Even though he had come to terms with it. He was okay.

"And you have nothing better to do than watch me suffer?" he asked grumpily. He rubbed his eyes and breathed deeply. He was no longer there. And Shouto was no longer... the monster he thought he was at first. "Wake me up next time, will you?"

"I apologize." Katsuki heard him get up. His clothes rustled, then he sat down on the bed. He gently stroked Katsuki's knee and then up to his hips. "What did you dream?"

The blonde took a last deep breath. "Nothing," he grumbled then. No idea if he sounded convincing enough, but he couldn't see the vampire's expression anyway. When a cool hand rested on his cheek, he didn't even flinch. He was already that used to the other's touch. Weeks of being together must do that to you.

Shouto took his cheek in his hand, very gently and as carefully as no one had ever handled him, then traveled through his hair and finally into his neck. Gently, he pulled him towards himself.

Katsuki returned the small kiss that was placed on his lips. So terribly gentle and the exact opposite of the Shouto in his dream. The Shouto he had met on the first night of his own personal hell.

"It's only two o'clock at night. You should be sleeping."

"I don't want to," the werewolf grumbled back defiantly.

The vampire moved closer and pushed Katsuki back into the old pillows, then pulled the dusty blanket over him and lay down next to him. A hand on his stomach. "You need to rest, Katsuki... Don't be so stubborn."

He was so gentle with him, it scared him.
