As the wind howled outside, carrying a chill that seemed to seep into every crevice of the Cullen home, Renesmee sat curled up by the window, her usually bright eyes clouded with worry. She watched the storm lash against the trees, the world outside feeling as turbulent as her thoughts. California Bemstrom noticed the silent storm in Renesmee’s eyes before she said a word. She came over, wrapping a soft blanket around Renesmee’s shoulders and sitting beside her. “You look like you’re carrying the weight of the whole world, Ness,” California said gently, her voice soft and steady.
