*~Kunikida POV~*Kunikida leaned against the doorframe of Dazai’s apartment, arms crossed tightly over his chest. The echoes of chaotic nights and reckless decisions filled his mind. The clock ticked away while he contemplated how time seemed to bend around Dazai’s unapproachable nonchalance.“DAZAI! Hurry up or you’ll be late for work!” Kunikida shouted, his voice rising above the silence that hung heavily in the air. He could already feel the muscle in his temple throbbing at the suggestion of what lay beyond this door—a disaster of unkempt chaos if he didn’t intervene.Minutes ticked by, and his patience wore thin. He knocked again, harder this time. “You’re a waste of bandages! Get your ass out here and come to work!” he barked, the anger flaring in his chest. Finally, the door creaked open, and there stood Dazai, looking as disheveled as Kunikida had envisioned. Dazai was clad in nothing but a wrinkled t-shirt and boxers, his usually charming smile morphed into a scowl.“What, Kunikida?” Dazai muttered, his voice thick with irritation.“Get dressed. Now.”Dazai’s lackadaisical shrug sent Kunikida over the edge. “Whatever…” Dazai mumbled and shut the door again.*~Dazai POV~*Dazai didn’t care for the world outside his thoughts. He trudged to the bathroom, splashing cold water on his face, trying to shake off the remnants of last night’s indulgence—drinks that flowed freely, laughter that echoed, and a numbing pull towards oblivion. The hangover was a formidable beast, gnawing at the edges of his mind.He could hear Kunikida still outside, berating him like a schoolyard bully. It was a comfort in its own twisted way. After a quick change and a grumbled excuse for a breakfast, he slammed the agency door behind him, cutting through the oppressive atmosphere with a quick annoyance. “Why do you always have to yell?” he snapped, feeling a wave of anger surge through him as he walked into the office.Kunikida’s face told the tale of indignation, but it only riled Dazai more. The agency went silent, all eyes glued to the escalating confrontation. “SHUT THE FUCK UP!” Dazai shouted, frustration finally boiling over. He couldn’t contain it any longer. He stormed out, leaving the agency in stunned silence, with Kunikida’s voice ringing in his ears.*~Chuuya POV~*Chuuya was enjoying a rare day off, lounging at home in comfortable clothes, when a knock on the door disrupted his serenity. Expecting a delivery or something mundane, he swung the door open, revealing a disheveled Dazai, a look of desperation in his eyes.“Mackerel?” he raised an eyebrow, bemused. “What the hell are you doing here?”Without waiting for an invitation, Dazai stepped inside and leaned heavily against the door, releasing a dramatic sigh. “I had a fight with Kunikida, and I need… I need a distraction.”Chuuya smirked, leaning back against the counter, arms crossed. “You need a distraction? Sounds like you need to get laid.”Dazai grinned, that devil-may-care smile charming yet reckless. “Exactly! We haven’t in forever.”“Fine,” Chuuya muttered, feeling a mix of exasperation and pure attraction. “But keep it down, will you?”A few moments later, they found themselves tangled on the couch, laughter interspersed with heated kisses. In that moment, nothing else mattered—just skin, warmth, and an undeniable chemistry that pulsed between them.*~Back to Dazai POV~*With Chuuya beneath him, Dazai felt a flicker of something he hadn’t allowed himself to feel in a long while—release. But then his phone buzzed violently on the table, ripping him from their bliss.Ignoring it briefly, Dazai returned to Chuuya’s persistent kisses. Yet, before he could bury himself deeper into the distraction, curiosity plucked at him, compelling him to check the caller.Kunikida’s name blared across the screen. Panic washed over him as he abruptly hung up, the implications sending a thrill of fear through him. He had already delved too deep into this with Chuuya. Kunikida would not only be furious; he would never let him live it down.*~Kunikida POV~*Kunikida paced outside, the tempest of emotions swirling inside him. Tracking Dazai’s phone had led him here, and he was torn between confrontation and concern. He could handle Dazai’s antics, but this? This felt wrong—like stepping into someone else’s chaos without consent. As he pushed open the front door, he was met with a tableau that would haunt his thoughts. Dazai, wrapped in a blanket, looking guilty as hell, while Chuuya glared daggers from the couch, still clad in nothing but skin.“What the hell, Dazai?!” Kunikida yelled, frozen by shock.Dazai fumbled, clearly caught in a precarious situation, “Uh… Kunikida!” He scrambled to cover himself, the absurdity of it all crashing over him like a wave. “What are you doing here?”“You won’t believe how I found you,” Kunikida huffed, a mix of frustration and disbelief tinged with concern. “You’re supposed to be at work, not... this!”Chuuya rolled his eyes but couldn’t suppress the smirk. “Glad to know you care, glasses man. But I think Dazai has different priorities right now.”Dazai glanced between them, a flicker of embarrassment crossing his expression, before the mask slipped off completely. “Look, I’ll deal with this in a minute.”Kunikida took a breath, thumping his palm against his forehead. “We will talk about this later.” He pivoted to leave, but paused, throwing a final glance back at the chaos he’d walked in on. “Get your act together, Dazai. This isn’t a joke.”*~Dazai POV~*As Kunikida left, Dazai sank back onto the couch, Chuuya’s amused gaze locked onto him. “Looks like your work-life balance is out of whack,” he snorted, trying to lighten the mood.“Yeah, but who cares?” Dazai chuckled, his heart racing from the encounter. The thrill of rebellion pulsed through him. “I mean, this is all that matters, right?”Chuuya appeared pensive, a soft smile tugging at his lips. “Well, don’t let Kunikida snuff your fun. Just remember, you can’t keep running from your responsibilities.”Dazai tilted his head, allowing a sliver of vulnerability to seep through. “Maybe not. But for now, I just want to be here with you.”And as they dove back into their blissful distraction, Dazai felt something stir within him—a tentative hope that maybe, just maybe, he could find a way to balance his chaotic choices with the life he appreciated. For now, he would keep walking the fine line between living and letting go.---
