Chapter One- Paws on the Ground Please

December 15th, 2024
Christ. I’ve been sitting here for eleven hours. Honestly, I’d describe the whole experience as a purgatory. Stuck in a tin can high in the air, with nothing but clouds as far as the eye can see.  Pretty, but I’d rather be literally anywhere else right now. Hell, I might even take heading back to my hometown. If there was ever any thoughts that I would like riding a plane in my mind, they have since been quashed. Looking up at the ceiling of the cabin, I glare at the various screws laid in an orderly fashion, hoping for anything interesting to look at. How does anyone do this shit?As I consider the idea of maybe sleeping, I hear a rather loud “snrrrrk…” beside me. Glancing at its source, I stare at my boyfriend sleeping peacefully by the window. Friedrich. If I thought having to hear him snore in a room was bad enough, dealing with it in a plane is torture. I don’t know how he managed to talk me into this. Knocked out in his seat, the German shepherd lay with his head drooped to the window, bulky arms resting on his chest, and touching the armrests that we share. Big guy barely fit into the seat as it was currently. His paws laid at my side, a small comfort at first, but it’s only slightly bothering me now. Slightly. Having been poked by them for the entire day, it’s only slightly annoying me. I think.Looking him over, I smile at his (finally) fully covered belly. The fat bastard finally caved and wore a long sleeved shirt this time around, a cute sweater I picked out for him during the Black Friday sales a few weeks ago. What I don’t get is why it took him this long to wear it, of all the things… Then again, I guess it’s better than a small, beat up t-shirt everyday of the week. Though, it does have some perks. Like the little belly peek I love pinching. And despite the snoring, when he sleeps he’s just… kind of cute to look at, and in this scenario, even a little funny. Seeing a bed filler like him crammed into a small plane seat, makes me chuckle to myself a bit. He’d fared a ton better than I thought he would. Seeing him contort himself just to fit into the seat was honestly impressive. “Oh Sam, it’s fiiine don’t you worry, I’ll fit just fine!” And hey, what do I know? He seems perfectly content in that position. I turn to Nik, my best friend turned backstabber. Said badger is currently passed out in the seat to my left, and he promised he'd keep awake in case I was bored… He promised he would keep awake in case I was bored, but I think the stress of riding a plane finally got to him. Still clenching the arm rests, I almost wonder if he had ever calmed down at any point during these eleven hours.Looking at my legs, I sigh, setting my paws down on my lap. Is Germany really worth the eleven hour flight? I mean, truly? It wasn’t like I had any other major plans for Christmas this year. Normally, I’d just spend it in my car, with just the plate of cookies and I. Honestly, I’d do anything for those cookies right now. Today was really hectic, Friedrich forcing us up and out the door at 6 in the morning, for a goddamn flight at noon! But, as for why? Only God, and maybe Friedrich know. All I know is that came time for the flight, Cliff managed to still be late. After all of.. that , I think I have a right to not be excited about sitting in a seat for another eleven hours. If I had known that leaving so early wouldn’t be so important, I think I would have tried to convince Friedrich not to kill me over sleeping in a little.…Or not. He had been doing all the pre-planning for this weeks in advance, before he had actually told me. Even saved money to make sure I could go.The shepherd was so bouncy and excited, clasping his fat paws together as he brought us to a.. Christmas Getaway! As he put it.The only reason that conversation had stopped was because we had both been in our underwear, which was normal for him, but I had wanted to sleep.Friedrich was pretty happy about it at the time, and a cabin in the Alps does sound nice.. If not a bit creepy. But eleven hours..? I don’t think anybody sane would want to sit still for that long. And to think, this is the fastest way to get there. I don’t know how I’d live if I had to fly for work.Europe is going to be very strange. Rules are different, a chance I’ll take a wrong turn and end up somewhere that doesn’t speak English..Not that I have anything against other languages, but I’d rather not be stranded in a strange place that can’t understand me or my words.Sighing, I lean back in my seat. I think I’m thinkin’ too hard. I chuckle at that, thinkin’ too much about thinkin’ too much. It’ll be fun. At least it’ll be different. My ears twitch at the sound of the intercom whirring to life.“Attention passengers! We will be landing at the Münich Airport in approximately twelve minutes. We hope you had a great flight, and hope you fly with us again soon. Thank you.”Scratching the back of my head, I glance at the ceiling, thinking to myself. At last, this hell doesn’t go on forever! Looking at the other passengers, I do a once over of the cabin just to see if I can spot my other friends on the plane.Catching a glimpse of Cliff and Murdoch, they seem to come to life at the announcement. Looking back at my immediate surroundings, I realize it means I will no longer be trapped by my boyfriend’s incessant snoring! Wait… speaking of loud boyfriends…I give Friedrich’s arm a hard nudge, my elbow sinking into the soft, buttery arm fat on him as I hear him let out a loud “SNRRK-”, snorting as I nudge him again. His snores fade as I watch the man slowly shuffle awake, eyes blinking slowly at me. Placing one paw on his face, he wipes some drool from the corners of his mouth.“Wha-Saaam, whasgeshappun…?” Mumbling slight nonsense, he adjusts his posture, resting his head on his fists, pressing his cheeks against his eyes.As he’s about to fall asleep again, I nudge him again. “Ah, rise and shine, that’s what, we’re leavin’ in’ 12.” I say as I boop his nose with a straw pawpad. Friedrich looks at me with an odd look of confusion in his eyes, and makes a weird groaning sound.“Tha’s.. two minutes of..” He yawns, still out of it. “...zschlafen.”I shake my head at him, poking him again. “Yeah, and then when we land, you’ll have to scramble for all your shit, sound fun?”The shepherd opens an eye, staring me down, before slouching into his fist and letting out a long grumbly sigh. Stretching, he adjusts himself. “Uuugh, noooo...” He begrudgingly sits up, noting his now rather uncomfortable position. “Good boy.” I grin, and see him look at me with an angry expression, softening to an amused smile. Laughing, he waves a paw in the air. “Pfft . . . Stop calling me that…”Nudging him again, I hold my grin. “Mmmm, don’t think I will.” I said, watching him adjust himself in the chair to fit better, resting his hand on his forehead.“I will just have to crush you when we get off…”He pokes at me now, muttering small complaints at my treatment of him.I look at him and laugh, “It’s adorable how you still think that promising me with a good time is a ‘threat.’” Lifting his head, the shepherd glances at me sleepily, before resting his head back on his fist. “Then I will have Nikolai do it instead… He’ll..” He trails off, the train of thought leaving him.“Oh nooo, not the two living pillows! Anything but that! Whatever shall I do?” I respond in amusement, as he re-lifts his head up and snorts.“What an evil man you are, Samuel Ayers.” Friedrich adjusts himself once more, belly now on his lap, and pooling under the arm rests.“Comes naturally, I guess.” Receiving a nudge in the side for that response, he laughs, “Pffft, don’t say that! I was joking!” waving his arms around again dismissing the comment.Grabbing his arms and putting them down, I hold my smile.“Hey, you’re the one who said it, I just agreed.” I stare at him, a smile creeping on his face.“Hah. Didn’t mean it that way.” His chuckle finally filled with his characteristic baritone that signals that he’s finally awake fully. “Time just went faster than I expected…” Shifting in his chair, his plush body pressing into my arms slightly.I snorted. “..Really. You slept for more than half the damn flight.” The shepherd shrugged in response, snout angled to the floor.“Well, that’s because I was tired, and besides. Rest is important, is it not?” I groan internally, and roll my eyes. “Apparently, not important enough to let me have any, hmm?” I give a little smile as he struggles to respond. I snort as the dog looks me up and down, eyes locking on my own. “W-Wha..? Did you not get some?” He looks slightly worried, the sweetheart.“Nope!” I answer, shaking my head as he looks at me quizzically.“Why not?!” He asks as I snort again.“Oh, I dunno. I think the big dog next to me might have something to do with it~”He shakes his head, and I chuckle. “You snore! a lot!” He crosses his arms together, cheeks flushing from the comment. “I. Do Not. Snooooooore!” He pouts, brown fur curling into a small frown. I laugh again, putting a paw into my pants, revealing my phone. “For keeping me up, I’ve got proof.” Waving my phone so he glances at it, I play a little video I took of him snoring earlier. He looked at it and squinted, the gears turning in his head as his eyes widened.“Oh goodness. The seat must have made me sleep like that…” apologizing as I facepalm.“Ah yes, the seat. Fried, you snore like that all the time.”“No, I do not!” he was nothing if not adamant in his un-snorey-ness.“Yeah, ya do! Agh, it's fine. ‘Least you looked cute while doin’ it.” I watch his face light up, but he crosses his arms, trying to hide his enjoyment. “I- wha?! Uncalled for...”Putting my phone away, I stick my tongue out at him, smiling. “Think I disagree. I only speak the truth."Leaning back, the shep yawns. “Well, you cannot blame me for sleeping all flight.” He rubbed his eyes, still a bit sleepy. “At least lunch was good…” Looking at him, I scoff. “Lunch? I think that barely counted as one for you, Fried.”Laughing, he places a paw on his stomach. “Well, it was something , ja? Or were you hoping to listen to my stomach angry for food all flight?” he joked.“Mmm. Maybe.” I turn around, looking behind us at the aisles separating the rows of seats, only to be hit in the arm.“You horny gremlin, you!” He pouts, crossing his arms.I laugh. “Whaaat? Can you blame me? Lookatcha!” “Grrr, no, but still!” he said, taking a breath. “D’awww,” I poke his stomach. “What, tired of bein’ awake?” He shook his head.“I will stand up right now, and drop this on you!” He said irritably, giving his stomach a few hearty pats. I wouldn’t mind if he did that..“Hah. Then what?” I thump his belly. “Don’t think you’ll uh, last the effort, and I’ll win anyway.” I stick my tongue out at him as he grumbles.“Why do you insist on doing this to me right now…?”Leaning into him, I look up at his face. His face crumpled in a soft glare. “Because I loooove yoouuuuuu~” I poke his cheek. He glances away, grumbling again. “I am starting to think that might be just a ruse…” he says, placing a large black arm around my back.“You are so lucky you are cute, Sam…” I see him lower his head down and press his nose against my cheek, a kiss.“Love you too~”I look away for a second, “oh you bastard…” I mumble.I look back and watch him grin as he looks down at me, “you are such a dork~” he said smiling.Seems like I did my damn job getting him up, so at least that’s good.“Attention all passengers, we will be landing at Munich airport in approximately five minutes. We do hope you enjoyed your flight, and choose to fly with us again soon, thank you.” the woman said over the intercom again.I felt Friedrich’s grip on me let go, and I looked at him.“See? Told you” I said with a smile on my face.I watched him sit straight and nod, before his eyes went wide open.He turned to me, “gah! My parents are supposed to pick me and you up! Do I even look presentable!? I look like a mess!” He said rapidly, scrambling to try and pat his head fur down and brush it with his paws.I looked at him and blinked, “What? You look fine, just a bit of messy hair-” I watched him put his finger up.“They will ask why that is and give me two more brushes I don’t need!”“That’s . . . Free stuff though…” I said in confusion.“Wait, why would they do that?” I asked again.“You’ll see, just do you have a comb or something???” he asked, all frazzled.“Geez yeah Fried I have a fucking comb, calm down” I said, reaching for my bag and rummaging through it.I pulled the thing out and held it up for him, it was grabbed immediately, “here, don’t get it all gunked up with your fur, alright?”“Ja, ja, ja I know, just gimme a minute” he quickly said as he began combing his facial fur.I looked at him as he did it and grinned, “make sure to get your double chin too, big boy”I hear him grumble, “This is not time for flirts Sam…”“That wasn’t a flirt, just a suggestion, your double chin is pretty bi-”“Yes I get it! Horny gremlin!” He said, pointing a finger at me.“Gee, look at the pot calling the kettle black” I said, watching his face get more and more flustered.I grab his arm suddenly and look at him, “you look perfectly fine” I assured him as he shook his head.“I hope so,” he mumbled.“Trust me, you’re fine Fried” I said, opening my palm.“Now gimme my comb”He silently gave the comb back and I put it away, “where are the others again?” he asked as I looked around.“Well Nik is right here, I didn’t care to remember where everyone else is” I answered as Fried glanced past me.“Huh…” he only said.“I just wanna get the fuck outta here…” I said, priming myself to get out of my seat.I felt Friedrich’s massive paw push me back down, “well don’t do that, the plane is landing in like two minutes, everyone needs to be seated for it” he said with a laugh.“I’d like that to happen now” I replied as he laughed again.“It practically is now, just take a minute to relax, and I hope you have a sweater or something, it’s a bit chilly this time of year…”I look at him and blink, “do I really look like the type of guy who would bring a jacket with me on a plane??”I watch him laugh, “Bavaria is cold during the winter Sam, you’re certainly in for a treat”There’s another chime just now “attention passengers, the plane is landing now. Please remain seated until the plane properly comes to a stop, thank you for flying with Euro Airlines.”I looked out the window and watched as we descended, it felt . . . Freaky…I looked at Fried and saw him just sitting back, all relaxed, hands clasped together. The next few minutes were spent doing . . . Something with the plane, I don’t know what it was but it’s taking too long.I guess Friedrich could see how impatient I was getting because he nudged me again.“Hey, if it makes you feel any better, I’m sure there’s some food places in the airport if you want anything”I looked at him and laughed, “that’s more of a you thing Fried” “Oh but German snacks are so great! Especially Bavarian! We have such good chocolate!” he said excitedly rubbing his hands together, it was too cute honestly…I raised an eyebrow, “really, humor me…” I said as he laughed and waved his hand dismissively.“Bah! There’s too much to tell you about! You will just have to see!” he said excitedly.“Way to keep it suspenseful I guess…” I said as the intercom sounded again.“Attention passengers, we have now pulled into terminal 4, you may now disembark the plane. We do hope you enjoyed your flight, and fly with Euro Airlines again soon, Deutschland welcomes you. thank you.”Without skipping a beat, I jump out of my seat and stand up, groaning as I do. My legs feel like jelly for a few seconds as I stand there.I watched Friedrich shake Nikolai awake, watching the badger get shaken awake was a bit of poetic justice.“Wha-wuh!? What!?” Nik asked as he looked up at us.“Time for our asses to go, that’s what, come on, get up” I said, watching him unbuckle his seatbelt and stand up.“Really!? We’re in Germany now??”I saw Friedrich smile at him, “yes! Now go go go!” he said beckoning us to the aisle as everyone started to leave the plane.I yawned as we walked past all of the seats, I was fucking exhausted, but feeling Friedrich’s stomach pressing against my back was more than enough motivation to keep going. We neared closer to the exit and I think I caught a glimpse of Will or Murdoch, whoever they were, I knew them, and they looked pretty disheveled. As we got out of the plane now, we stepped into a large hallway that went into the airport itself, it was immediately pretty damn loud, lots of voices, lots of other noises.I trailed close behind Fried as we walked into the massive terminal, it was already much damn cleaner than LAX, but who am I kidding? That isn’t hard to do.As the crowd dispersed from the plane terminal, the three of us stopped and quickly saw where the other guys were, they all quickly grouped with us.There was Murdoch, dressed in a green long sleeved turtleneck and heavy pants, his now much more defined gut and moobs sticking out in front.Yao, who wore a red long sleeved shirt that’s left open in the middle revealing a black fleece underneath, accompanied by some nice looking black work pants. Will, who had originally got on wearing a cyan sweater, but took it off during the flight in favor of the lighter black shirt he had underneath, he was wearing a pair of gray sweatpants to compliment it. His massive stomach stuck out like a sore thumb, gotta admit I love how much wider he is now. Then there was Todd, who along with sporting his own chubby gut now, wore a long sleeved shirt with his park ranger logo on it, and then jeans of all things. And then Cliff . . . He still had his “Hitsune Miku” headphones on, along with an undeniably cute little turtleneck, and a pair of some kinda formal pants. We all stood there for a few seconds before someone said something.“So where do we go now? Exactly?” Murdoch asked as I looked around and shrugged.“Beats me-” I started to say as my boyfriend interrupted me.“Well, we need to wait for our luggage, so we’ll find the belt where it’s all being unloaded,” he said absentmindedly, too busy seemingly looking around.“Yeah, probably that way” Will blurted, walking towards the area in front of us, Friedrich quickly followed and got in front, and so did I.I heard Murdoch tell Cliff to follow from behind us as we walked, the only guy who knows German other than Fried, and he’s too preoccupied with his “vocaloid” music to even know what’s going on, fuckin weeb…I looked up above us and saw all of the signs hanging from the ceiling. I tried reading them for a second but it’s literally nonsense. I did see Friedrich looking at them too, and I saw a big smile on his face as he did. He turned to me and Will as we made a wide turn into a large lobby with a crowd standing at the end.“This is where our luggage should be” he said with a cheery face, god does he look so cute when he does that…I yawned as we walked over to what looked like a bunch of seats in front of the luggage conveyor belt, of course most of them were already full…Though as we got closer, I nudged Nikolai and Will, an amused smile creeping on my face, “hey, 20 bucks says those seats don’t fit any of you three fatasses” I joked as Nikolai looked at me with embarrassment.“I’d rather not take that bet, Sam…” he said with a blush.“No, they won’t, and it don’t matter to me either” Will said with a bit of annoyance.“I think I’ll just stand,” Friedrich said from the front.I glanced at him, mainly at his ass, and scoffed, “well obviously babe, you aren’t exactly built for that stuff” I said, watching his ass just wobble and jiggle as he walked, I like looking at it when he ain’t looking~“Well let’s hope the wait isn’t too long, everyone knows what their luggage looks like, yeah?” Fried said as we reached the seats and luggage belt.Damn right I know what my luggage looks like, that fatass forced me to buy a whole nother suitcase for this trip to use with the one I already had.Said that I should pack everything I needed, clothes, bath stuff, all the hygiene shit between the two of us, and oh yeah, even more clothes. My suitcases made me feel like I was pulling two fucking boulders everywhere . . . I probably got off easy too, since Fried basically packed our entire bed into one of his suitcases, comforter, blankets, pillows, everything but the damn mattress, and mind you, our bed is a California King, so all of the shit was even bigger.Pile that on top of all of his damn clothes and the rest of his other shit, and I’m wondering how he fucking does it.As we all wait for our luggage, I sit in one of the available seats and lean back, stifling a sigh.I hear someone sitting next to me and look to see Murdoch, he gives me a toothy smile.“So how was your flight sitting next to the two fatasses?” He asked lightheartedly as I glanced at Friedrich standing a few feet away from us.“Not very pleasant . . . Nikolai was fine, but Friedrich, the fat bastard snores, loud.” I say as Murdoch laughs.“I can tell, you could hear it even where I was, must’ve been fun” he said sarcastically.“Yeah . . . He’s lucky he’s cute when he’s sleeping…” I said, reaching over and checking my phone.I look at the screen and my eyes widen for a second, it says 5:14, I rub my eyes and yawn again at it. Jesus, it’s 5 AM? No wonder I feel like I’m about to drop like a damn fly, jet lag is a bitch…I smile at my wallpaper though, because it’s a picture of Friedrich. It’s him posted up with his stomach completely filling up the frame, rolls, moobs, navel and all, he’s got that smug ass look he gets when he’s horny, just makes me get excited when I look at it, which is why I made it my wallpaper. He’s just so . . . Ough . . . Every part of him . . . I need to put my phone away or next thing I know I’ll have a boner…I subtly slipped my phone in my pocket and clasped my hands together with a sigh.“Hey, does he even know what we’re doing when we get out of the airport?” Murdoch asked as I glanced at him.“Says his parents are gonna pick us up, how one car is fitting all of us in? Beats me” I replied as he looked down in thought.“Hmm, where even is this big cabin he’s been talking about?" He asked as I shrugged again.“Literally all I know is that it’s in The Alps, he has everything figured out” I said shaking my head.I look at him and raise an eyebrow, “and shouldn’t you be looking for your luggage anyways?” I asked as he glanced at the conveyor belt.“I’m looking while I sit,” he answered.I snorted, “wow, and I thought my boyfriend was lazy…” I said, glancing at said boyfriend. He stood idly next to the belt, and seemed to be talking with someone in German, always has that damn cute smile on his face.I watched him suddenly stop himself and grab two very large suitcases from the belt, which were very clearly his. He lifted them off and planted them on the ground, and said goodbye to whoever he was talking to.As he began to walk over, he paused again and looked at me suddenly “Sam! Your luggage is here!” He shouted.I sighed and got up, walking over to him now and looked at the belt, sure enough there were my suitcases.I grabbed them and pulled them off the platform, lifting them up and wincing at the weight as I plopped them on the floor one by one.I heard a happy noise behind me and I looked at my boyfriend, “When are your parents supposed to be here?” I asked him as he looked down at me and blinked.“They said they should be here at about 5:30, let me check-” he said, pausing mid sentence as he checked his phone.I looked at him and sighed, “what…?”“They sent me a text a few hours ago saying that there’s delays due to the snow, they’ll be here in an hour instead…” Friedrich said, I facepalmed.“Well we’re not staying at a fucking airport for another hour today, so we’ll figure something out” I said as Friedrich looked at everyone else.It was then that my brain came to something, “wait, snow???”Friedrich turned to me and nodded, “yeah, the roads are all slippery, it’s pretty heavy from what they say, we’ll see it for ourselves in a few minutes” he replied as I grabbed my luggage behind me and followed him back to the guys.“Okay, so what the fuck are we going to do then, Fried??” I asked as he walked.“I don’t know yet, I need to think, I’ll come up with something” he said as he stopped and stood in front of the seats in thought.“Well how were your parents going to fit us all in one car anyways?” I asked as he turned to me with his hand resting under his chin.“W-well, they said they’d be able to fit all of us in there somehow…” he said as I looked at him and scoffed.“I doubt you cared to mention that three of us including you are wider than the average car seat, right?” I replied as he went silent for a moment, looking away embarrassedly.Honestly it’s cute when he does stuff like that, those few seconds of those gears turning inside his head, oblivious moments like that just get me to smile.“I-no . . . I didn’t think I needed to…” he said, glancing at the guys in front of us.I shook my head and let out a short sigh, “well at least they don’t have to figure that out the hard way now…”“Hey, what’s got you two bickering now?” Will’s voice spoke as we both glanced at him.“My parents can’t get here for a bit . . . They've been delayed by the snow…” Friedrich said, giving him a nervous toothy grin.I watched Will’s eyebrow raise, before a hand was put on his forehead, “well ain’t that just great . . . You have a solution to that?” he asked as Fried laughed nervously.“Ahah . . . Uuuh…” he started and looked at his phone.“No . . . not yet”“Well look for one, we ain’t sitting in an airport doing fuck all for hours again” Will said taking his phone out too.“Well there aren't exactly many options we have . . . We could take the train, or a tram, but . . . This is heavy snow…” Friedrich said a bit frantically.I looked at him, “the fuck is a tram?” I was answered before Friedrich could speak.“Cable car. Europe’s got one helluva lot of ‘em.” Will said bluntly as we looked at him.“Even then, those are in the city, there wouldn’t be one going from here to Munich . . . And they don’t run in these conditions-”“Yeah, we get it Fried” Will interrupted.“If we’re lucky we can catch a train, but I think that-”“We’re not staying here Fried. No way in hell” I butted in as he looked at me and sighed.“Uh, well . . . I don’t know if there’s a train station nearby but if there is . . . We’ll take that…”I watched as Friedrich seemed to have an epiphany.“Wait! There’s a station here already I think . . .Yes there is! I took it! It goes right into Munich” he said as I recoiled.“Why wouldn’t we just take that to begin with?” I asked as he looked at me.“W-well I didn’t really remember . . . I haven’t been to Germany in a very long time, Sam”“And my parents insisted on coming here picking us up, they’re just late” he added as I shrugged.“Well, where’s the station then? There any map ‘round here?” I asked as he looked at me and laughed.“Well I’d hope so, yeah, just uh . . . Gimme a second…” he said, pulling his phone out and stepping away.I shrugged again and looked at the rest of the guys, most of them had their luggage except for Yao and Todd.I walked up to Yao as he waited patiently at the belt, “whatcha doin?”He turned to me, “my suitcase hasn’t come yet, I’m waiting for it” he said as I glanced at all the luggage going by.“Well we have a bit of time, Fried’s parents are delayed so we’re taking a train” I said as he raised a brow.“Oh? Why?” He asked.“Snow, apparently, but I don’t wanna spend another damn minute in an airport…” I answered with a grumble. He laughed, “I don’t exactly blame you, yeah, I didn’t know it was snowing,” Yao replied as I looked behind us towards where the entrance was.“Neither did I, doubt it’s as much as they’re saying it is…” I said as Yao suddenly reached over and grabbed his luggage from the line.“I’m sure it’s as they say, Sam, they live here, don’t they?” he said as he placed his suitcase down.“But come on, this was planned for weeks, you think they’d have a workaround”“You can’t really predict the weather like that, can you? It must be worse than what they were expecting”He turned to me again, looking expectantly.“Where is this train then?” he asked as I shrugged.“No idea-” before I could get my sentence out, I was interrupted.“It’s underneath us, it has a train going to the city in a few minutes!”I looked at him and then at the guys, “Well we can’t leave now, Todd doesn’t have his luggage yet”He looked at us and then at all the luggage, “well where is it? We need to leave now and get tickets or we will miss the train” he said, looking at all the luggage coming in.He let out a disgruntled “gaah…” it was quiet, but still audible.“Whaddya guys mean? I got mine a few minutes ago” the voice of Todd spoke as we both turned to him.I looked at him and blinked, “and you didn’t tell us then??”“Well I thought y’all saw me grab it” Todd answered as Friedrich shook his head and stood in front of me now.“Well it's fine, let’s leave now, the train is supposed to get there in seven minutes!” he said and began ushering everyone to get up.I kind of tensed up as he started rushing us to this train station, trailing behind him and Will as quickly as I could. You know for a 1280 pound german shepherd he can sure haul ass, because he was booking it until we got to a set of descending stairs.I could see just how winded he was getting as he led the charge down the stairs, his large hands sliding along the railing as he bounded toward the train platform below.I wanted to appreciate how he jiggled and wobbled with every step he made but the bastard was just too quick, the only thing I saw was his ass bouncing . . . which is enough…We reached the platform and he turned a hard left, because I was right behind him I turned with him, my suitcases gave me even more shit for that as I stumbled off balance for a second.“Oh fucking cunt!” I said angrily at the stumble, glancing at my suitcases before dashing back over.“Slow the fuck down will you?!” I shouted as Friedrich glanced back at me for a second and slowed down suddenly, coming to a stop a few feet from the steps.“God, it’s just a train . . . Don’t run for your damn life” I said disgruntledly as I caught up with him.“And how’d a fatass like him outrun someone like you? Sam?” Will blurted as I looked at him and pointed.“Cause I wasn’t expecting a fatass to be able to run that fast, now shut it” I replied and heard my boyfriend’s weight seemingly catch up with him.I glanced at him and saw him bent over, hands on his knees panting heavily, he raised his arm and pointed across the platform.“We uh . . . huff… get our tickets there…” he said, standing straight and starting to speed walk over, tongue hanging out of his mouth. We walked over to a large booth, Friedrich in front, there was a gray wolf sitting at a desk typing away on the computer.I heard Friedrich clear his throat and straighten himself.“Hallo, ich möchte acht Fahrkarten für den 5:30-Zug nach München kaufen” he spoke as the wolf looked up at him and nodded.“Okay . . . Acht?” they said, typing into the computer.“Ja” Fried replied as the guy nodded and continued typing.“Was führt Sie nach München? (what brings you to Munich?)” the wolf asked as they worked, I crossed my arms as they seemed to get into conversation.I watched Friedrich pipe up suddenly and lean towards the desk, “ach! Ich bin hier im Weihnachtsurlaub! Ich wohne in der Hütte meiner Familie in den Apls (Ah! I’m here on Christmas vacation! I’m staying in my family’s cabin in the Alps)”I watched the wolf raise his eyebrows and nod, “Es ist die Zeit des Jahres, nicht wahr? Woher kommen Ihre Freunde hier? (it is that time of year, right? Where are your friends here from?)”“Kalifornien, sie waren noch nie außerhalb des Landes (California, they’ve never been out of country before)” he said with a lighthearted chuckle, the wolf shared it.“Dies ist ein wunderbarer Ort für den Anfang, ich bin sicher, sie werden es lieben. (this is a wonderful place for them to start then, I’m sure they’ll love it)” the wolf replied as he pulled out pieces of paper.“Das macht fünfzig Euro, bar oder auf Kredit? (that will be fifty euro, cash or credit?)” he asked as Friedrich took his wallet out and opened it, giving the teller his card. The wolf took it and put it in somewhere, as he waited he looked back at Friedrich, “Wie lange dauerte der Flug? (how long was the flight?)”“gah, elf Stunden (gah, eleven hours)” he said, rolling his eyes."Muss zermürbend gewesen sein (must’ve been grueling)” the wolf replied.Friedrich laughed loudly, "Für meinen Freund war es das, aber ich habe die Hälfte der Zeit geschlafen! (for my boyfriend it was, but I slept half the time!)”The wolf laughed back as he reached over and gave him the tickets and his card, “Nun, sagen Sie ihm, er soll es einmal versuchen! Gute Fahrt! (well, tell him to try it sometime! Have a good ride!” The wolf exclaimed as Friedrich stepped back and smiled.“Das werde ich! Dankeschön! (I will! Thank you!)” he said as he grabbed the things and waved, turning to everyone waiting there.“The fuck was that?” I asked as he looked at me and walked.“A very nice person,” he answered with a happy smile.“Okay! Everyone get your tickets” he continued as he handed each of us one, starting with me and ending with Yao.“Hey thanks,” Will said, checking his watch and looking at the tracks.“Said the trains coming at 5:30, right? Should be here round now” he said as I looked at my ticket.“Then it’ll come in a minute or two, at least we haven’t missed it” Friedrich said dismissively. As I looked at the tracks in front of us, and everyone sat somewhere, I felt a large arm get wrapped around me from behind, and was pulled into someone’s side.I didn’t need to question who it was, I just looked up and leaned into him, nuzzling my head next to his arm.The arm wrapped me into a full hug as we stood there waiting for the train, and before I knew it, I felt a soft smooch on the top of my head.My face was bright red as I leaned into him, Friedrich’s fur and fat made it feel like I’m resting my head against a big, warm and indescribably soft blanket, even under his clothes…I leaned my head over and kissed his side, eyes closed as I relished in the warmth, leaning my entire body against him now.As I rested my head there, there was a sudden sensation that made me open my eyes.
*grrrrruuuuuuuuummmble…*
I looked up at him as he stood there, and put my free hand on his stomach, rubbing it for a second, getting deep “babe . . . You’re hungry…” I mumbled and felt his head nuzzle mine.“Mmhmm…” he quietly responded.I nudged him, “ignoring it won’t help, you know…”“Mmm, but I have some chips in my suitcase…” he said as I heard a quiet swirling noise from his stomach.“Just saying . . . Don’t embarrass yourself…” I said as a voice spoke through the intercom.“der 5:30-Zug nach München kommt jetzt an, bitte beachten Sie die Lücke beim Einsteigen (the 5:30 train to Munich is arriving now, please mind the gap when entering)”I felt Friedrich’s grip of me loosen as we both straightened ourselves, I stretched my legs a bit and looked at him.“I have an idea what we’ll do when we get settled in today, you know…~” I said as he looked down at me, cocking his head in confusion.“Hmm? What is it?” He asked as I just laughed at him.“You’ll have to wait and see then~” I replied as the train suddenly rolled into the station, boy do I love how oblivious he is sometimes…The train continued past us for a few seconds, before slowing to a stop, doors opening in front of us and an intercom saying something in German. Everyone went before us, but I obviously let Fried go in before me, just to make sure he would fit through the door.He grabbed his suitcases and stepped forward, putting his suitcases in the train first before going through the doors. He just about filled in the entire space, but there was just enough for him to go through without any problems, color me surprised…I followed and stopped behind him as he paused and seemed to look for a seat. I stood right in front of his ass for a few seconds, kind of awkwardly looking around at everyone in the car.“Don’t tell me you expected them to have seats for your fatass…” I said to him quietly as he turned to me.“Well I need to sit somewhere, I’m not holding a bunch of luggage in place while standing for thirty minutes…” he replied and started moving down the car.It took about a minute as the train began to move, but he eventually made a surprised “ah!” and walked over to two empty seats, plopping down on them without a word.It was a long seat meant for two people, there was another one across from it that faced it.Even with the large amount of leeway the two seats gave him, he still managed to completely fill in the entire space. His sides pressed against the edges of them, each one of his massive legs took up each seat respectively, and his stomach overflowed the gap between those legs.He didn’t seem to care though, he seemed rather content actually, placing his luggage in front of him and holding it in place with his legs.I took the seat across from him and looked out the window beside us. We're exiting a tunnel, which isn’t very interesting. I'm more surprised that there's a train station at an airport…Well . . . I just hope this doesn’t take long, I dunno about everyone else, but I’d like to get some fucking sleep please.AN: HELLO! HELLOOOOO!!!! I LIVE I LIVE I LIVE!!!! ----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

Chapter Two - Welcome Back to Bavaria

I know I should be grateful that there’s a seat that can accommodate me in the first place, but I can’t help but feel how . . . Small this one is…

I can just feel my sides pressing against it, hanging off the edges, even when I have them covered it's a weird feeling…

But, whatever, we’re here and we made it, so what if I need to sit in a tight train seat till we get to Munich…

I place a hand on my stomach and I lean back. It’s good being able to sit, even if I can manage lugging it around for a while, running to catch the train knocked some wind out of me.

I should probably check my phone too, mom and dad are definitely going to be asking if I found a way around their delay…
Looking at my phone, I see a missed call notification. Wiping my brow, I fuss with my hair, trying to make it look straight.

“Sam, does this look alright?”

The white puma turns to gawk at me, slightly confused by the statement.

“Why do you care?” He reaches forward, swatting my paws away from my face, and smoothing down my headfluff for me.

“I er. I have to look nice, you know?” What would the look on pa’s face be if he were to see me now…

“And ya do, at least in part. What’s the fuss about?”

“Agh, just… I am trying to look as best as I can, is all.” I replied, giving him a half smile.

Sam looked at me with a raised brow, “Fried, you look fine. What, are they really gonna care if your fur’s a little messy?”

Yes! I stutter a bit and look away for a second, “Well, they might. I-I tell you, next thing I know, I will have yet another comb to add to an ever growing collection. Courtesy of my mother…” I said, with a grumble near the end.

Sam gave a shrug, “So what? Fuck ‘em.”

I stare at him, aghast. “What? Why would you say that? They are family.”

He looks away, shrugging. “‘Iunno. Whatsit matter what they think?”

I blink at him, “well I have not seen them in five years, and I have already gained all this weight. They cannot think I am some kind of slob…” I respond, looking away for a moment.

“But you are one. No shame in that.”

I tensed up and looked at him, “well, I-! Not the point!”

“Okay. Then we can fix your hair, and send ‘em a picture. Since you’re so worried. You won’t have to see how they react at first sight.”

“I-What!? Why would I do that!?” stammering as he looked at me and snorted. “Then they will know!”

“Won’t they know anyway?” Sam crosses his arms.

Well I’d rather not have it now! “I will give it a shot. Later…”

He looks at me unamused.

I glance at him and grumble, “Good to know you have confidence in me, Sam…”

There was a few minutes of awkward silence after that as I looked at my phone, trying to make myself preoccupied. That silence was interrupted as I looked up and saw NIkolai bounding towards us.

“Sam! Look outside!” he said as my eyes widened for a moment and glanced to our side.

Sam seemed to be dragged off by Nik now, hurried over to wherever he was seated, and I breathed a sigh of relief. I didn’t know how I’d break that awkward silence, so this is a godsend…

I picked my head up and glanced out the window beside me, eyes widening at the sight. White snow flew past me as the train moved, all the fields were blanketed with what had to be meters of it.

I let out a chuckle to myself as I looked out and admired it, I guess mom and dad really weren’t kidding about the snow after all.

Letting out a pleasant sigh, I placed my elbow on the lip of the window and rested my head on my fist. I think I forgot how wonderful the winters are here at home, just looking at it brings back some memories, hah…

I do hope that the snow ploughs have gotten out and cleared the roads though, if not it’ll be a hard time getting anywhere, especially towards the mountains.

Bah, I’m sure they have already, People need to work and all that.

I lean back in my seat and close my eyes for a moment. I can’t help but smile at it all, this will be an amazing time.

Then I feel something vibrating in my pocket, opening my eyes and reaching in, mom is calling me again…

I already missed her last call, so I should answer this time.

“Hallo” I started and held the phone to my ear.

“Hallo, Schatz! Hast du meinen Anruf vorhin erhalten? (Hello, darling! Did you get my call earlier?)” she asked off the bat as I gave a nervous grin and nodded to the phone.

“Ja, ja, das habe ich, ich habe es nicht gehört (Yes, yes, I did, I didn't hear it)", I replied a little nervously.

“Oh, ich habe mich nur gefragt, ob du schon einen Weg nach Hause gefunden hast. Dein Vater kann nicht so viel Schnee vertragen, weißt du? (Oh, I was just wondering if you'd found a way home yet. Your father can't take that much snow, you know?)” She replied back. Well she’s right, not even dad can drive through snow like that, but he might be stubborn enough to try…

“Keine Sorge, Mama, wir haben einen Zug erwischt, wir sind auf dem Weg dorthin (Don't worry, mom, we caught a train, we're on our way there)” I said with a nod.

“Oh gut! Wir sind zu Hause, wenn du ankommst. Du weißt, an welcher Station du aussteigen musst, oder? (Oh good! We'll be home when you arrive. You know which station to get off at, don't you?)” huh, I thought they had left already… I still do know my way around our neighborhood though, yeah, considering how much I was out when I was younger.

“Mhm, ja, wir nehmen den Bus, sobald wir aus dem Zug gestiegen sind. (Mhm, yes, we take the bus as soon as we get off the train)” I answered as my mother seemed to huff.

“Oh, ich wünschte, du hättest ein Auto, Liebes, du hast schon genug Transporte hinter dir. (Oh, I wish you had a car, dear, you've had enough transportation already.)” she said as I looked down at my stomach and winced.

“Eeeh . . .  Ist schon gut, Mama, die meisten Autos passen sowieso nicht zu mir… (It's okay, Mom, most cars don't suit me anyway…)” I replied, scratching my stomach.

I looked into having my car brought with us, but I guess the airline wasn’t willing to transport a massive minivan to Germany for us… I don’t blame them but still, that’s the only vehicle I can at least fit in…

Sure . . . I can’t actually really drive it but… It’d be nice to have it there either way…

My mother laughed, “Was meinen Sie? Du bist doch nicht noch größer geworden, während du weg warst, oder? (What do you mean? You didn't get any bigger while you were away, did you?)”

I reached a hand behind my head and scratched it, “äh, das könnte man so sagen, ja… (uh, you could say that, yes…)” I said as I heard something shuffle in front of me.

Glancing over, I saw Sam sitting down in front of me, “that’s the most fucking snow I’ve see-”

“Shhh!” I interrupted him midway through his sentence, and he looked at me a bit flabbergasted.

“What???” He asked as I pointed to my phone, taking it away from my ear.

“I’m talking to my mother!” I quietly shouted as I heard her on the other end.

“Friedrich? Bist du noch dran? Wer war das? (Friedrich? Are you still there? Who was that?)” She asked as I put the phone back to my ear and laughed nervously.

“Ahahaha, nichts! nur mein Freund, das ist alles! ( Nothing! Just my boyfriend, that's all!)” I said with a rapid nod and heard her gasp.

“Oh, dein Freund! Wie geht es ihm?! Du hast uns immer noch keine Bilder von ihm geschickt! (Oh, your boyfriend! How is he?! You still haven't sent us any pictures of him!)” she exclaimed as I let out another nervous laugh.

“Oh ja! Ja! Es geht ihm gut! Er ist noch sehr müde von dem Flug. Du wirst ihn sehen, wenn wir da sind (Oh yes! Yes! He's doing well! He's still very tired from the flight. You'll see him when we get there)” I said back with an enthusiastic laugh, as much of one I could muster at least…

I heard her nod “Er kann sich ausschlafen, wenn er hier ist. Wir fahren ein paar Stunden nach dir los (He can sleep it off while he's here. We'll leave a few hours after you)” she said happily.

“Ja, ich bin sicher, er wird diese Mutter zu schätzen wissen (Yes, I'm sure he will appreciate this mother)” I replied with a grin.

“Sag ihm, dass dein Vater und ich uns sehr darauf freuen, ihn kennenzulernen, und ich bin sicher, dass sich auch deine Geschwister darauf freuen (Tell him that your father and I are really looking forward to meeting him, and I'm sure your siblings are looking forward to it too)”, my eyes widened as she said that.

How could I have forgotten my brothers will be there?! God, t-they’ll see me as nothing but a giant bloated fatass! They already made fun of me when I was younger, I’ll never hear the end of it now! They’ll lay into me, what if they don’t approve?

I haven’t even told them I’m gay yet either… Have my parents told them??

“J-ja . . . Ja... Ihr werdet ihn lieben (Y-yeah… You will love him)” I said with a wincing grin.

“Ich bin sicher, dass wir das tun werden, und bevor ich Sie gehen lasse, sagten Sie, Sie würden den Bus nehmen, richtig? (I'm sure we will, and before I let you go, you said you'd take the bus, right?)” She asked as I nodded to the phone.

“Ja, es sollte nicht so schlimm sein (Yes, it shouldn't be that bad)”, I answered as she seemed to wince.

“Ich sehe mir gerade den Busfahrplan an, und da steht, dass alle Busse gestrichen sind… (I'm looking at the bus timetable and it says that all buses are canceled…)” She said apologetically as I put my hand on my forehead.

“Scheiße.” Why wouldn’t the buses be canceled just in time for this? Of course I’ll have to walk my fatass and my oblivious friends around Munich in a snowstorm…

“Dann... Wir gehen zu Fuß, der Weg nach Hause ist nicht so lang (then... We walk, the way home isn't that long)” I said, shaking my head.

“Sind Sie sicher? Ich kann dich abholen (Are you sure? I can pick you up)”, she offered as I huffed.

“Nein, uns geht es gut, Mama, nichts, was ich nicht schon getan hätte (No, we're fine, Mom, nothing I haven't already done)” I said dismissively and leaned back.

“Nun gut, ich kann es kaum erwarten, dich endlich zu sehen, wenn du hier bist (Well, I can hardly wait to finally see you when you get here)”, she says lovingly as I smile at the phone.

“Ich auch, wir sehen uns dann, ich liebe dich (Me too, I'll see you then, I love you)” I reply back and make an audible kiss, how we usually say goodbye to one another.

“Ich liebe dich auch, bis bald (I love you too, see you soon)” she said, before I hung up and looked up at the ceiling, slouching back in my seat.

“UUUUUUUUGH…” I groaned in annoyance as I heard a snort from across me.

“The hell was that???” Samuel asked as I looked down and glanced at him.

“My mother…” I answered.

“And what happened??” He asked again, brow raised this time.

“Where do I begin?” I looked at him and saw him shrug.

“Well, for one, all the buses are canceled because of the snow, so we’ll have to walk to my parent’s house when we get off the train,” I explained, resting my paws on my stomach and sighing.

“Lovely, how long’s the walk?” Sam asked.

“The walk is like twenty minutes! And this is in a snow storm!” I complained as he Shook his head and sighed.

“We don’t have any other damn choices, do we?” he asked in annoyance.

“No, I do not think so…” I reply, looking down. Nobody even has a coat on, of all times why are the buses out of service now??

“Well…” Samuel started and I looked at him.

“If I start freezin’, I’m gonna be blamin’ you” he says, I shake my head and snort.

“Well, it is not MY fault the buses aren’t running ONE time…” I explain and cross my arms as he glances out the window and then back at me.

“No, but it

is

your fault for not having a backup plan” he says and I huff.

“Tch, well I wasn’t expecting any of this, then again… we wouldn’t have many options either way…” I say to him, tapping my foot in annoyance.

Unexpectedly I hear him let out an amused chuff, “You forget that we’re traveling with four fatasses, including yourself, for a minute there?” The little jab made me look away and blush a little.

“I-still…” I begin, stammering a bit, “no uber could accommodate us, so…”

“So. We’ll walk, ain’t a big deal is it? ‘Sides, you could use the cardio” he said as I looked at him unamused.

“Oh shut, I would just rather not walk in a snowstorm” I said disgruntled.

“Well you grew up here right? You haven’t walked in the snow before?” He asked, raising a brow.

I look at him and my head recoils, of course I have but not in a full on snowstorm! “Well yes, but not like this” I says as he shrugs.

We’re both interrupted by the intercom of the train, our stop is about three stops away now. Walking home with all of our luggage is going to be annoying to say the least.

“W-well could you tell everyone that we’re walking? I’d do it myself but…-” I got cut off by Sam as he stands up.

“Yeah yeah, you’re a fatass I get it” he says and looks at me with a sort of smug grin as he walks away, I can’t help but laugh at it.

His sass always makes him even cuter, even if it sounds irritated, there is a fair bit of love in it too…

I put my fist up to my chin as I sat there now… Ugh, this is just a great start to a trip like this…

I don’t know how I’m going to play it off when I get to the house, I mean, over 700 pounds in five years is a big change…

I don’t even have any excuses lined up, I can’t just say to them

“Oh ja I started gaining weight on purpose because I like it!”

they'll kill me…

What will my father even think? He knows I’m gay, but not THIS gay…

Scheiße Scheiße Scheiße Scheiße!

I place my hand on the temples of my head and rub them, before my attention is brought in front of me.

I see Will walking towards me, luggage in hand and his sweater from earlier on, as he walked over I figured what he was going to talk about.

“So you mean to tell me that instead of getting a ride, we’re gonna be stuck, walkin in the fuckin snow for 20 minutes?” He asks off the bat, I sort of put my hands up for a moment.

“A-ah, yeah, not what I was planning, to say the least…” I reply as he takes a seat across from me.

I watch him look right at me and stare for a few seconds in silence, before shaking his head and letting out a tired sigh.

“The hell’s the matter with you, kid? I thought you did preplanning for this” he says and I object.

“I did! It’s just…I…-the buses are usually running in these conditions…” I answer as he scoffs.

“You expect buses to run in weather like this?? You have any idea how much of pussies bus drivers usually are?” He asked, in almost amused disbelief.

I look at him and shake my head dismissively, “No, this is Germany, it’s different” I reply as he glances out the window.

“And you say that, despite the fact that the buses

aren’t

running, and we’ve gotta walk in a fucking snowstorm…” he says as I shake my head.

“Look Fried, s’long as you know what you’re doin, where you’re goin, we should be fine”

I look at him and give an uneasy nod, “yeah…Guess that’s right”

I watched him ease up for a second, before looking at me again with a raised brow, “You

do

know your way ‘round your own hometown, right?” I look at him and scoff.

“Of course I do, I have been to this station many times, don’t worry” I assured him and he shrugged.

“Look I’m just making sure” he said as I slowly got up.

“Well I do, I will try to get us to my parent’s quick…” I say, standing up, our stop is coming up now.

I watch him get up with me, and as we walk along the train, I feel him nudge my arm, I glance at him.

“Hey, try not to stress too much about your parents, alright?” he says, looking at me with an earnest face.

“Uh…hah, yeah, yeah I know…” I replied quietly and gave him a little smile.

We joined up with the rest of everyone and waited for the train to slow down, and as we did I felt someone nudge me again on my arm, quickly getting under it.

I glanced down and saw Sam close to me, his luggage in his hands, I looked down at him and smiled.

The train doors open, and I get out first with Sam, now that I know the doors thankfully fit me… Stepping over the small gap and setting foot on the train platform.

As everyone gets out and I step further into the station and immediately notice my cold breath in front of me, it’s something I’ve not seen in a while…

I look around and my memory is quickly refreshed on what this place looks like, it feels so nice, the first taste of home.

Glancing at everyone else, I clasp my hands together, “Okay! I know the walk to the house, so follow me” I say and look towards the stairs.

“You said you were staying at a cabin right?” Murdoch asked as I led us down the stairwell, held my luggage up as much as I could above the stairs.

“Yeah, it is my family’s lodge cabin, why?” I answered as we made our way down.

“Why would a cabin be here though?” He asked and I glanced at him.

Then I let out an amused huff, “The cabin is in The Alps, not down here in Munich” I answered as we got onto the sidewalk below the platform and I had a full look around now.

“So . . . We’re going to your parent’s house??” He asked as Nikolai interjected.

“Well I would only assume, yes, where is it from here, Friedrich?” He asked as I glanced at him.

“Eeh, just twenty minutes or so” I answered as we stopped and stood at the edge of a street.

I looked out at the town in front of us and drew a blank in my head for a moment, the sight looked familiar yet I had to sort of reassociate myself for a second.

“What do your parents do anyways, Fried?” Will asked as I started walking across the road, glancing both ways for cars and leading everyone behind me.

“Well, my father is a retired mechanic and handyman, and my mother was a dental assistant” I answered, looking ahead of us as I glanced back at them.

“Why are you asking?” I followed up as Will shrugged behind me.

“Curiosity is all, your father teach you all the random stuff you know about tools then?” he asked as he walked beside me.

I glanced at him and nodded “ja, you know for a while he really wanted me to join his field…” I started, laughing a little fondly.

“But ah… It was not exactly for me, haha…” I said as Will nudged my side.

“Dunno there, you look like the typa guy who could be into it” he said as I looked at him and shrugged.

“Maybe, it was fun knowing how things worked and how to maintain things, but it was not all too appealing…” I said with a smile as he shook his head.

“Well at least you listened, it’s good stuff to know in general…” he said with a half smile.

“Aah, I only know some bits and pieces, I was never great at remembering those types of things…” I said with a bit of a nervous laugh.

“Yeah, that’s why I said random stuff” Will said as we walked past some apartment buildings.

Everyone behind us began chatting with each other, small conversations to pass the time. I looked at the street we were on and smiled pleasantly, it felt so nice being back here now, I can slowly feel it all coming back.

“So what do your parents do in their free time these days then?” Will asked, making me look back to him again and shrug.

“Ahah, I wish I knew, probably nothing much, my father likes working on cars so he might be fixing up a few things” I said with a grin.

“I am sure you are going to love him” I said happily, dad and Will

do

seem like they would get along nicely…

I watched him nod, “Don’t doubt it, how long’s it been since you were here then?” Will asked as I looked up in thought for a moment.

“Ah, about five years” I started, raising my hand up and brushing some snow off my face, “I do wish that the first thing I was doing when I finally got back wasn’t walking in a snowstorm though…” I say annoyedly as Will seems to let out an amused huff.

“Well it could be worse, you know” he said and I looked at him.

“And how would it get worse than pulling along all this luggage in a snowstorm?” I asked amusedly.

“Could’ve been a full blown blizzard, and you could’ve forgotten where you lived” he listed as my ears flicked at that.

Given how much snow is on the ground, I would say it is close enough to a blizzard already . . . Though I suppose he is right about me not forgetting where the house is…

“. . . I would guess you are right, yes…” I answered and picked up my pace a little, going ahead of Will, the snow feels like it is getting heavier…

I would say I was surprised that the snow plows have not gotten out yet, but it is only 6 am, they would usually get out at past eight…

There are still cars about though, a few have passed us as we walked, most likely people going to work.

Part of me wishes my father could have picked us up at the airport, but another is thankful he did not, I do not think we would all fit in his car anyways…

Thankfully everything still is familiar here to me, I am relieved of that as I make a turn on the sidewalk, I know the way like the back of my hand.

I smile fondly at the town buildings as we pass them. Seeing the stores and houses in my neighborhood that I saw so many times when I was a kid gives me that warm nostalgic feeling of finally being home…

My smile flattens though, it isn’t like anyone would recognize me now… Maybe just by my scar…

A few more minutes of spread out chatter go by until I look up and see a street name I know all too well. I stop for a second and wipe my forehead as the whole group trailing behind me catches up.

I look back at them and smile, before making that left turn.

Looking around as I walk onto my old street, I see a few immediate changes: the house at this end of the street seems to have been repaired quite a bit, there's no more chipped stone on the outer walls and their fence is back, maybe someone new moved in…

The street has definitely gotten a few new coats of asphalt, it looks much smoother than I remember, and there are a few more trees that seem to have been planted along the road too.

As I smile at all of the nice changes, I feel someone suddenly brushing against my arm and glance over to see Samuel looking at me.

“This is a real nice neighborhood you know, where’s your place?” He says, face all dusted with snow, he looks cute like that…

“It is, ja, it is just around this curve…” I said as we walked together, I watched him nod at that with a face of relief.

“Alright cool, I bet you’re glad you actually wore something warm this time” he replied, making a little jab at me.

I smile at him a bit embarrassed, he is right… I do not usually wear long sleeves or clothes like this… Not many fit to begin with, and those that do feel weird…

“Hah, I am, yes, it is not too cold for you, is it?” I ask as he gives a bit of a grimace.

“Well I can’t say I haven’t been freezing my ass off for the past twenty minutes…” He replied irritably.

I looked at him and couldn’t help but laugh a bit. Part of me hopes that he doesn’t get used to the cold, I have a few… Ideas of ways I could help warm him up…

“I am sure you will get used to it Sam, do not worry, my parents like to keep their house nice and warm during winter” I tell him as he brushes against me again.

“Great, cause I’m trying not to chatter my teeth here” he says as the sidewalk curves and reveals our destination, just down the street.

“Well there it is!” I started, pointing at the house as Sam leaned his head forward a bit to see.

I picked up my pace a bit more, silently puffing a bit as I went to cross the street, all of this walking was quite the workout…

I looked at Sam with a smile as we walked across, “Now do not worry about my parents, you are going to love them” I said assuringly.

“How much exactly have you told them about me, Fried??” Sam asked between strides as he kept up with me.

“Oh, not a lot, don’t worry, I have only told them about basic things” I replied as he raised an eyebrow.

“And what would those be?”

“Oh you know, what you do, your name, places we’ve gone together, showed some gifts that you have given me, that type of stuff” I added reassuringly as he grimaced a bit.

I saw him nod as we walked along the other side of the sidewalk now, the others being right behind us. I could see the side of the house now. It was an exciting feeling…

“And they don’t know anything at all about… This?” He asked, giving the side of my stomach a hard poke, I felt it wobble and shake in place.

I looked at him and gave an uneasy frown, “...No, but whatever happens happens…” I said as my tail suddenly stopped wagging.

“You could have sent them that picture-” He said as I interrupted him.

“W-well I’d rather do it like this, it allows more… Communication…” I tell him as he looks at me for a few seconds and just shrugs.

“Look, you’ll be fine, alright?” He said earnestly as he looked at me, placing a hand on my arm as I nod.

I hope he’s right… I am just going to have to bite the bullet on this one…

My parent’s house slowly grew more and more as we went along the sidewalk. Some of my anxiety went away as I saw dad and mom’s cars in the driveway.

Now we finally stood in front of the house, it looked just as it did when I moved out, minus the Christmas decorations. The living and dining room lights were on and the curtains were open, that made me feel nice…
