As long as Remus had known Sirius, he’d always known something wasn’t fully right, with his head he means. Was Sirius a good person? Undoubtedly… to Remus at least. Sirius was a good person to Remus and to James and by extension I guess Peter. He could also be good to Lily, Mary and Marlene most of the time but…If the regular Hogwarts student was asked to describe Sirius Black ‘good’ may not be the word that comes to mind. Sirius was definitely a character. Ever since he came tumbling into the Hogwarts corridors as a fresh 11 year old with royalty adjacent status and the nerve to sit under the sorting hat and single-handedly break a century old legacy in a single moment. Well, any member of house Black in Gryffindor would’ve caused a stir butWell first it was his temper. Sirius’ temper was often so short it would be understandable to question if he even had one at all or whether he just operated in a constant state of anger. Sirius was known to proceed to yelling very quickly. And violence came a bit too naturally to him than it should to a person. Whether it be a naive first year bumping into him on a bad day or anyone who looked at him sideways after another news report on the ongoings of his family. Anyone could be victim to the wrath of Sirius Black. But Sirius’ favourite targets to take his anger out on were the Slytherin boys otherwise known as any distant relatives. Typically the likes of Mulciber, Avery, Rosier and of course his personal favourite Severus Snape. Granted the Slytherin lot typically deserved the onslaught they received from Sirius but Remus would be lying if he hasn’t privately thought Sirius maybe perversely enjoyed his retaliation a bit too much. The image of Sirius wheezing in laughter as he observed Mulciber bleed from every orifice and Avery writhing on the floor in pain was an image Remus didn’t think he’d ever forget. But after Sirius would have his fun he’d always pointedly remind Remus of all the evil shit that the Slytherins had said that had got them under Sirius’ scrutiny in the first place and Remus would have to will himself to believe that was enough to warrant the punishments Sirius so happily gave out. Besides Sirius was always a perfect angel to him at least so Remus felt justified in turning a blind eye on how he chose to deal with other people.Plus, one had to factor in Sirius’ childhood. He had been taught dark magic before he could even read. The prodigy heir, or so they’d called him. Magic had come to Sirius as naturally as breathing. However explosive and accidental it may have been, every burst of magic that had left a prepubescent Sirius was met with a firm nod from Orion or a proud smirk from Walburga. What a powerful young dark wizard they’d created. They were proud. Especially compared to Regulus, who as much as he tried, didn’t show any sign of magic until he was 8. Far too old for a Black. They’d worried he was a squib. Nevertheless, it didn’t matter, they had Sirius, the heir, the one who magic had come to from 2 years old. They had made the perfect son!…Until he wasn’t . It was true that magic was in Sirius’ blood but so was rebellion. And with rebellion came consequences. Sirius had grown used to a lashing after speaking back, no food after getting a spell wrong, being burnt by the flame after playing around at a family gathering. He’d even grown used to Walburga’s favourite punishment, the cruciatus curse.‘But mother why can’t I play with regulus? - Crucio‘But Father, I don’t like Cissy or Bella’ - Crucio‘What makes muggles so different from us though?’ - CrucioSo for a boy who’d withstood countless attacks from a spell known to cause insanity, Remus figured Sirius was not that bad, right?Okay yes, Sirius was known to laugh hysterically in the sight of any real danger. But maybe that was just his coping mechanism? His first response to seeing Remus in wolf form for the first time may have been to jump up and down and squeal with excitement at the viciousness that a werewolf Remus presented. James even recalled the entranced grin on Sirius’ face when he witnessed Moony sink its teeth into a rabbit and kill it agonisingly slow. But Remus just liked to theorise that Sirius’ fascination for the wolf’s violent nature was just an extension of Sirius’ fascination for Remus in general. And boy was Sirius fascinated by Remus. Remus knew him and Sirius were a bit unnaturally close. Sure James was Sirius’ best friend but Moony and him just had something. Something special, something too unique to put into words, something that signified a bond that could survive through anything. They understood each other. For once, Sirius could open up about his home life and not be met with a pitiful stare but rather a deep gaze of understanding, from someone who’d equally suffered every day of his life. So of course in hindsight it comes as no surprise that they fell in love with each other. Remus may have fallen first but for Sirius, it was like he fell a 100 miles per hour from a skyscraper into a never ending black hole. There was no limit to Sirius’ love for Remus, no way of containing it, no way of stopping it.And it showed. A side effect of being in a relationship with Sirius Black was his possessiveness. Sirius was known to violently jinx or curse anyone who showed even the slightest interest in what was his. There’s no proof Sirius was behind it, but a girl who had asked Remus to Hogsmeade one day, was next sent to St Mungos for a mysterious case of poisoning, so rare and specific that it was concluded only a dark wizard could’ve been behind it. When Remus questioned him about it, Sirius only laughed, tugged Remus’ face down to his and said‘Aw Moony, I would never but let’s just say this is the universes way of telling us that you only belong with me, right baby, only me!’And so Remus had shrugged it off. Sirius could be really sweet when it was just them. He would often get in strops whenever Remus had anything to do that didn’t involve him and whine about the lack of attention. He had a constant need to be touching Remus at all times, whether that be hand holding, sitting on his lap, tucking their legs together or having Remus inside him. That last bit happened a lot. The sex. At least once a day, Sirius would pull Remus into a broom closet, an empty classroom or the prefects bathroom and demand neither of them were leaving until Sirius couldn’t walk straight.‘Fuck, fuuuck, I love you Moony, please baby more ugh, harder ah- ah- ‘Remus never minded this, his werewolf libido thanked Sirius for it honestly but his fellow dorm mates weren’t always too pleased‘ Honestly Remus don’t you think this is getting too excessive, you guys are like rabbits’‘ Aww prongs don’t be jealous just because you’ll die a virgin before lily looks your way’‘ Ha. Ha. No but seriously, it’s like you’re attached at the hip’‘ Well it’s not the hip we’re attached by-…’‘ Ugh I did NOT need that visual. You know what I mean. It’s not even just about the sex I mean I know pads likes you a lot but don’t you feel like he’s a bit too clingy’Remus wavered as James continued‘ I don’t know this just isn’t feeling like a normal relationship, I know pads may have some attachment issues but this isn’t healthy it’s like he’s obsessed with you’Okay so Sirius could be a bit obsessive. A bit too codependent it should be worrying to anyone normal but Remus loved Sirius and he was willing to look past it. Even if Sirius had mood swings to rival tornadoes coming and going. Even if Sirius threatened to kill himself after every argument if Remus even thought about leaving him. Even if Sirius confessed that he sometimes heard voices in his head telling him to hurt people and he wanted to listen to them. Remus loved Sirius. End ofAnd okay so Sirius had some bad habits with alcohol where he’d take it too far and almost kill Snape, while making Remus a murderer in the process. And he may have shown a frighteningly small, almost zero, amount of remorse about the murdering Snape part of the incident. He also may have thrown a party in the wake of his parent’s death and quite literally danced on their grave. He may have racked up a kill count rivalling Voldemort , and found significant joy in torturing death eaters during his time in the Order, but…As long as Remus had known Sirius, he’d always known something wasn’t fully right, with his head he means. Maybe Sirius wasn’t a good person. And you know what, Remus doesn’t care. Sirius belongs to him just as he belongs to Sirius. He will always love Sirius anyway.
