-Let me go
-Not until you pick up-I said looking at Eira.
-Are we really going to do this, you square-nosed idiot?-She asked me looking at me with that challenging look that I had had to deal with for two weeks, two weeks chasing her through the halls, being hit with a mop and of course being bitten by an idiot with braces.
-You know I can do this all day Eira-I told her not letting myself be intimidated by her look.
-That's what you said yesterday and you got tired by the 3rd time around-She said laughing mockingly, which bothered me.
-Well, how could you possibly run around the school-I said frowning. It was obvious that neither of us were going to give in and I knew her because in those two weeks I understood the kind of person she was, one that if she wanted something she would take it and if she didn't get it someone would get hit.
I saw Eira laugh, which annoyed me and she was definitely planning something. -You know you're very insistent, get yourself a hobby or something -She told me while pulling the broom hard making me stagger forward.
-For your information I do have hobbies -I said pulling the broom to my side making her almost fall.
-Pff, sure, you look like you have no more personality than just being a bootlicker for the elderly -That last thing did hit me in my pride and without hesitation I pulled the broom harder making it almost fall on me.
-I hate people like you, you have no goals or aspirations you just live day to day, you probably don't even know what to do with your life -I said pulling harder. I saw her stay silent, apparently my comment made her angry because she proceeded to throw the broom at me making me back off slightly and while I was careful not to fall I saw her run again, which made me let out a loud grunt. -See you later Mr. Idiot - I heard her say as she made a small bow and ran down the halls laughing. I growled, Eira had been my most difficult assignment starting with the fact that I didn't want to do it, but out of the Cipher Pol council members I was chosen and I had no choice but to obey and now I was tied to that problematic girl who probably had ADHD and some report of violence. I saw her moving further and further away from me. -I'm starting to consider the strap- I said to myself as I took my phone and checked the time, it was 4 pm and classes had ended two hours ago.I didn't know if chasing Eira was the best decision since I had been doing it for the past two weeks and all I managed to do was cause myself respiratory fatigue, I seriously wondered how she was so fast and agile even with her broken arm.
I was definitely upset, I hated that Eira got her way every time, she never obeyed, nor did she listen, it was like talking to a wall... If walls could hit and hurt feelings it would definitely be Eira.I had to report Eira's daily hours and if I didn't the losses would be for both of us but apparently she didn't care much about the idea of being expelled.
I wandered through the halls towards the room designated for Cipher Pol while I thought about what I would put on Eira's and my hours report. I entered the classroom not caring about the noise, even though there was no one there, which was logical, they had left the hardest work to me after all.I sat down and took the sheet of paper that I had to hand in in an hour, and without lying easily I was looking at it for about ten minutes without knowing what to write, and in that mental block I just sighed and began to write without thinking much about my words.Eira was chaos, when I saw her for the first time she looked like a pretty ordinary girl except for her eyes and maybe, she was the first person I knew who had heterochromia. From day one she made it clear to me that she was not willing to cooperate because she just locked herself in the bathroom and did not come out until she thought I had left and in the end it turned out to be a trap. Dealing with Eira is similar to dealing with a pet that only makes a mess and no matter how much it hurts itself it keeps doing it.I didn't know anything about her personally except for the rumors I heard about her daily. “She's dangerous, she's made many teachers cry.” “I heard she's part of a criminal gang.” “They say she used to knock out guys older than her.”... Some of it was definitely just exaggerations but I really understood where this was coming from. Eira was popular but for the worst reasons to be.At one point I was just doodling on the sheet of paper where I was supposed to be writing the report that was due in a short time. I kept thinking about Eira and the rumors since most of them sounded too crazy and even fanciful. It made me wonder if anyone really knew her maybe with people close to her she was different not so defensive or aggressive.
I kept thinking about her as I started the report again.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
A new day, I arrived early, as it was one of my duties as a member of the cipher pol, since we had to set an example for the other students. I enjoyed arriving before everyone else, the empty hallways, the silence and seeing the empty classrooms gave me a certain peace.I arrived at the classroom assigned to us, I entered and saw Lucci, Kalifa and Blueno talking to each other, they like me used to arrive early, I greeted them with my hand in a friendly way. -How was it yesterday? - Blueno asked me while looking at me. I sighed, it was very difficult for me to hide my feelings, I guess I had tattooed on my forehead how I felt.-Good - I answered simply while leaving my things in my cubicle.-You have something on your arm Kaku - Kalifa said pointing to my arm that was uncovered. I cursed my spring uniform.-Oh, right you have something there Kaku - Blueno said as he approached Kalifa. What I had on my arm was a nice memory of Eira, yesterday she had bitten me, the wild thing and apparently she had left my arm marked and with a bruise. -It's nothing guys, just a bump -I said trying to avoid the subject.-Are those teeth marks? -Kalifa said taking my arm and bringing me closer to her and Blueno. I tried to get away but it was impossible.-True, they are teeth marks... -Blueno said while analyzing it. We all stayed silent, but apparently they had figured it out since Kalifa let go of my arm and between the two of them they looked at me with a mix of confusion and interest. -Did Eira bite you? -Kalifa was the one who finally decided to break the silence. Even though I wanted to deny it, I knew that my face would reveal it so I just nodded. They both looked at me confused and terrified.-Don't look at me like that, it's not that bad, it's like when a dog bites you -I said trying to end that conversation.-How did you let someone like her bite you? -Lucci asked getting involved in the conversation. I had forgotten that he was here too.-I wanted to answer but before I could even open my mouth, Lucci interrupted me.-You can't be so weak Kaku, you're the vice president of the Cipher pol... You let yourself be defeated by a criminal -Lucci said looking at me with disgust -You're not even trying. I stayed silent, I was upset with Lucci for assuming that I wasn't trying, that I wasn't trying. I nodded, I didn't want to fight with him and much less at this hour.I left the classroom silently while still listening to Lucci's words invalidating my work. Of course he was invalidating it, he wasn't dealing with Eira, he didn't have bites on his arms, he wasn't being hit by brooms, he didn't have to chase Eira for hours... He just stood there watching and giving me orders, it frustrated me that all my work was overshadowed by him, if he was so good why isn't he taking care of Eira?I arrived at my classroom which was completely empty and as expected classes started in 20 minutes. I left my things where they were, walked to the window and just looked at the sky, it was clear, not a single cloud was seen and there was a little wind.I felt a little more relaxed but that didn't last two minutes because in the distance I could hear the screams of a crowd of people. I opened the window and looked out. In the distance near the gym there was a group of people screaming with excitement. I rolled my eyes because it was a silly fight. I knew someone had to stop them. I growled and left the room towards the gym.It didn't take me long to arrive and the closer I got the louder the screams became. When I reached the crowd of people I tried to make my way through all the students so I could see who was responsible for all this but after seeing who it was I began to regret having come. It was Eira fighting with a third year student.-I saw how Eira spit something out of her mouth while she staggered a little -You'll regret what you said - Eira said wiping the blood from her mouth as she threw herself at the other student, kicking him in the stomach.I just stood there cold as I watched the fight, finding it impossible to believe that someone was so troublesome as to get into fights at seven in the morning and still with a broken arm. Although I would have liked to leave Eira alone, I knew that she was my responsibility and that if she caused any more trouble I would also get a scolding. I put my hands on my face and growled.I entered the center and grabbed her torso, lifting her up easily and stopping her from continuing to hit that boy. -Huh!? -She said excitedly throwing punches in my direction that by pure miracle I managed to dodge.-What's wrong with you!? Getting into fights so early -I yelled at her without loosening my grip.-This is none of your business, let me go! -She said trying to escape my grip by throwing a few kicks in the air although it was in vain because I didn't let go of her at any time.-Unfortunately it is! -I yelled at her as I began to walk with her in my arms. I could see the other students laughing at the situation, whispering and even recording the moment. -Awww, your babysitter came for you -Said the boy Eira was fighting with as he mocked her and approached us. The boy was making rude gestures and when I thought things couldn't escalate any further and get worse I saw Eira kick the boy right in the chin. I was paralyzed as I saw the boy fall after the kick.-The tooth fairy will give you good money for those teeth - Eira said calmly while laughing.-Damn bitch - The boy said sitting on the ground while covering his mouth where blood kept coming out. Eira had just knocked out a couple of teeth from a boy... With a kick. Before things got worse I started to take Eira away from the place while Eira just made obscene gestures to the boy as we walked away. Eira had at least stopped trying to escape but as soon as we got away from the crowd she started to struggle for me to let her go and in the end I let her go and I just saw her get away from me a little. -You shouldn't have gotten involved! -She told me, staying defensive like a bristling cat.-I don't want you to keep getting into trouble, keep in mind that it affects me too -I told her crossing my arms.-And who cares what happens to you? -She said while also crossing her arms and looking at me in a hostile manner. I sighed, I didn't want to start fighting with her, not so early, I looked at her for a few seconds and noticed that her mouth, chin and uniform were stained with blood. I guess because of the adrenaline of the moment I didn't notice it, I couldn't leave her like that wounded and all bloody, I approached her and she backed away. -What do you want? -She asked me, still looking at me, she didn't let her guard down, it didn't even seem like she was blinking.-Let's go to the infirmary -I told her bluntly -You can't go to class hurt, much less looking like you just murdered someone.-She looked at me for a few more seconds, I guess she was debating accepting my help, but in the end she just nodded and I saw her relax a little. We walked to the infirmary, at no time did I take my eyes off her since I didn't trust her and I knew that at any moment she could try to escape from me. -You can stop looking at me like I'm an ex-convict -She told me looking at me.-I'm making sure you don't escape -I told her without taking my eyes off her.-I won't escape, we're going to the infirmary, not to my death sentence -She said sarcastically as she stood in front of the infirmary door and opened it. The infirmary was empty and it was to be expected since it was seven in the morning, I entered with Eira. -Go sit down while I look for something to heal you - I said walking towards the small closet where the medicines were.-I can do it alone - She said looking at me still with hostility. I didn't understand why Eira was like that.-Just accept my help, your nose and mouth are still bleeding - I said exasperated as I approached her and she just backed away.-I don't want your help. I sighed and left things for her to heal herself, I didn't want to argue and much less fight, she couldn't do much in that state and I didn't want it to get worse. I watched her as she began to clean her wounds alone, disinfecting the wounds with such normality that it made me wonder how many times she did this... Alone. -Why are you still here? - She asked me without looking at me, I frowned a little at her rude tone.-I don't want you to run away - I answered.-And where would I go? I don't have the energy to run or flee -She said while looking at me out of the corner of her eye. We were silent again, the only noise was Eira's exhausted breathing and her complaints while disinfecting her wounds. -Do you always do this alone? -I couldn't help but ask her.-Yes.-Oh... Why don't you ask for help? -I questioned her.-I don't need help, I can do it alone -Her answer was the same, with the same tone full of resentment.-Your mouth is still bleeding.-Yes, I lost a few brakes -Eira said showing me her smile where her teeth had blood, I felt uncomfortable and looked away although apparently my reaction was very funny because I heard Eira laugh lightly.-Pff, it's just blood -She said still laughing at my reaction.-I'm not a fan of blood and much less other people's blood -I answered still looking to my side.-You're weak -Her comment made me frown slightly. We were silent again, a strange silence where I felt like I should say something but I didn't know what to say.-Hey... Was your name Kaku? -She asked me while looking at me. Her mouth wasn't bleeding anymore, at least.-Yes... Do you really not remember my name? We have been “working” together for two weeks now - I said, making quotation marks.
