"Serena!" – the male voice called to me, full of desperation.I turned towards him, confused. He wasn’t talking to me, was he?"I need help, please..." – he begged, and my confusion only deepened. What does he want, after all?"Black. What happened?" – I asked, trying to sound indifferent, but my voice came out colder than I would’ve liked."I... please, help me talk to Regulus..." – his words caught me off guard, and I raised an eyebrow, not understanding."Black, just go up to him." – I said, as if it were the simplest thing in the world. Because, honestly, it is."I hate the way you talk, it makes me sound stupid." – he said, clearly irritated, and I let out a small, almost involuntary laugh."You are stupid." – I said without hesitation, and he shot me a furious look."You’re so annoying." – he muttered, and I shrugged, not losing my composure."Seriously, how do I talk to him?" – he insisted, as if he had no other choice."Regulus, how’s it going?" – I mimicked his voice teasingly, and he rolled his eyes, exasperated."Astronomy Tower, 11:00 PM." – I said, sighing. "Don’t be late."He nodded, clearly nervous, and I turned to leave, feeling a mix of irritation and maybe a little amusement. Sirius took a deep breath as he walked toward the Astronomy Tower. The weight of everything was pressing down on his chest. He knew Regulus wouldn’t come easily, that the pain had been there, buried, for months. But he also knew there was no other choice but to try. He couldn’t keep running anymore, couldn’t leave his brother in this abyss of resentment.Arriving at the tower, he paused at the entrance, hesitant, feeling his heart race. It didn’t take long before Regulus appeared, his eyes burning with frustration and pain. The look he shot Sirius was a mix of surprise and anger, as though he was expecting anything but this.Sirius looked at him, feeling the weight of the words he needed to say. And before his mind could convince him that he didn’t have the strength to speak, he simply let it out, almost in a sigh, the words that seemed essential:"You came."Regulus stopped for a moment, and for a brief second, the silence between them was thick, as though the air was heavy with everything that had been left unsaid for so long. He looked at Sirius, his face unreadable, and then responded, with a certain disbelief, but also with a tone that was almost resigned:"You called."The words hung between them, heavy, and the silence that followed seemed stronger than any dialogue. Regulus didn’t move. He still seemed to doubt everything, as if Sirius’ presence there was something he didn’t know how to handle. The older brother’s gaze searched for some answer, some sign that this might actually be the beginning of something. But Regulus remained distant, hesitant, and Sirius didn’t know what else to say.Sirius took a step forward, the words spilling out more urgently than he’d expected."I know I hurt you. I know there’s no excuse. But..." – he paused for a moment, trying to steady the tremor in his voice. "But I need you, Regulus. I need to try to fix this."Regulus stared at him, the anger and pain still visible. "Fix what?" – he asked, almost dismissively. "Fix what? You left me alone, Sirius. You ignored me. You treated me like I was invisible."Sirius felt the weight of Regulus’ words hit him hard. He looked down, trying to find some explanation that would be good enough, but couldn’t."I was lost too, Regulus. I didn’t know what to do with everything that was happening... with our parents, with our home. I wanted to protect you, but at the same time... at the same time, I didn’t know how."Regulus shook his head in frustration, his eyes glistening. "Protect? You think you’d protect me by leaving me behind? Ignoring me? How can I trust you after that?"Sirius took a deep breath, trying to control the ache that was consuming him."I can’t change what happened, Regulus. I can’t go back, but... I just want to try. I just want to try to be your brother again, if you’ll let me."Regulus looked at him, still with his face closed off. The silence between them was thick, suffocating. Sirius took a step closer to his brother, but Regulus didn’t move."I don’t know, Sirius..." – Regulus whispered. "I don’t know if I can. How can I trust you again?"Sirius felt the weight of those words like a blow. He wanted to say something else, but didn’t know what. He just knew he couldn’t keep living with this distance between them. He couldn’t carry this emptiness any longer."I don’t expect you to forgive me now. I can’t expect you to take me back just like that. But... I just... I just want you to know that I’m here. I’ll always be here."Regulus stayed silent, looking down. His expression was unreadable.Sirius waited, not knowing what else to do. He stepped a little closer, but hesitated, not wanting to invade his brother’s space. Regulus looked up at him for a moment, their eyes meeting. But deep down, the indecision was still there. It was impossible to tell if something had changed, if the pain had been overcome, if the path to reconciliation was really open.Regulus finally turned away, as if searching for answers in the stars above."I... I don’t know, Sirius. I don’t know what to do with this." – His voice was low, almost inaudible.Sirius stood still, speechless. He didn’t know what to expect. They had said so much, and yet it felt like nothing had changed. The air was thick with possibilities, but also with doubts. They were close, but at the same time, so far apart. And without another word, Regulus began walking in the opposite direction, slowly. Sirius watched him, his chest tight, unsure whether to follow or let him go. The night around them seemed to grow quieter, denser.Sirius looked up at the sky, trying to find something there, an answer, a certainty. But there was nothing. Just silence. He stood there, alone, the night stretching on endlessly, unsure if he would ever truly find his way back to his brother. And perhaps Regulus was asking himself the same thing.
