----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
[Kris]
“KRIS! Kris, if you do not wake up, we will be late for school!” my adoptive mother exclaimed in a loud voice. I heard her move to what I assumed was my window and open the curtains. “I will wait outside for you, alright?” I then heard her walk out of my room. I groaned quietly as I got out of bed, thank goodness I decided to sleep in my school clothes. I took the moment to do some stretches before walking out of my room and down the stairs.
I decided to skip breakfast since I knew I would be late… Like I care. I was destined to be the outcast and the strange one. Whatever, I walked out of the house to see my mother, Toriel, standing next to the van. “Kris! There you are! We might still be able to make it!” Great… I made my way to the passenger side. “Kris… It is a beautiful day today, is it not?” I can’t help but agree, silently. It isn’t a bad day and I can only hope.. That it stays like that.
“I hope it stays this way when Asriel visits next week.” Asriel… my brother who is currently at University. The golden child of the family and the town while I am the freak and only Human in town. “But I wonder.. After the excitement of university.. Will he still enjoy coming home to this little town..?” I am sure he will, he always loved this town growing up.
We then pulled out of the driveway and drove down the road towards the school, which, strangely enough, was not far from here. I looked out the window as we drove by the homes of other Monsters, who waved at us. After a short moment, we pulled into the only parking lot in front of the school… yeah, I still don’t get that. We both got out of the car and Toriel approached me, she took my hand as we walked into the building.
As soon as we entered the main lobby of the school.. She turned around and hugged me, I am not much of a hugger but I will tolerate it. She pulled away from the hug and we parted ways to our classrooms. I walked to my class, hearing my teacher, Ms. Alphys talking. I walked in and everyone looked at me… cool. “Oh… K-Kris…! We thought you weren’t coming today!” The yellow Lizard monster said. I wish I weren’t here at school but it is what it is. “We’re doing group projects this month… Uhmm… so, walk around and find a partner, ok?” She finished.
I walked around the classroom, asking everyone to be partners for this most likely boring project, the only interesting thing I witnessed was Temmie’s partner being an.. Egg. Yeah, Temmie is weird but they are fun to be around. I decided to go over to a familiar reindeer Monster and childhood friend, Noelle Holiday. “Hey, Kris!” Optimistic and bright as usual. “What’s up? Didja lose your pencil again?” She asked. Not this time, I thankfully have it in my pocket. “Here, you want the candy cane one or the one with lights on it?” A known fact about this gal, she loves Christmas. Heck, her dad is named Rudolph. Anyways.
I declined her offer and asked if she wanted to be partners. “You want to be partners?” I shook my head, confirming the question. “Ummm… Sorry… Berdly already asked me.” She smiled awkwardly. Berdly, is the nerd who gets on everyone’s nerves as he thinks he is the smartest of the class.”Oh! But I can ask Ms. Alphys if we could make a group of 3!” She happily exclaimed. …I rather lose my face than be partners with Nerdly. I sighed and nodded. “Ok, I’ll ask!” She looks back over at Alphys. “Ms. Alphys! Uhm, is it okay if we have a group of 3?” I then heard Berdly turn to look. “Hey! What?! No! I do NOT approve of this! ABORT!!” The Jaybird yelled.
“What? B-but Kris doesn’t have a…” Noelle quietly said. “Noelle, what were you saying?” Alphys responded. Berdly smirked. “She was just saying we’re FINE being alone.” He said. “a-actually, I just wanted to know if…” She whispered. “Noelle, can you PLEASE SPEAK UP?” As Noelle was about to respond to Alphys, the door slammed open to reveal a Purple reptilian Monster… everyone looked at her and shuttered. “H…hi, susie.” Alphys fearfully said. It would be a lie to say that everyone didn’t fear Susie. The Monster enters the classroom before finally speaking in her monotone and raspy voice. "...Am I late?" She is but everyone doesn't want to confirm or say anything to piss her off.
"Ohh, n-no! You're fine! W-We were just uh... choosing partners for this month's project! Umm.. Susie, you're with Kris!" ...Damn it! I groaned internally and just stood there. "...great." Susie said, plainly. The class was silent until Alphys spoke up. "N-Now that everyone is here, I'll write the assignment on the board." She turned and went to the blackboard and looked around. "Uh.. has anyone seen the chalk? This is the 3rd time it went missing and... Y-You all know that I can't start class without some!" She nervously said to the class, but no one responded. "H-How about this? If no one speaks up... E-Everyone gets in trouble!" Once again.. Nobody Responded... "A-Anyone? P-Please..?" Alphys pleaded. Noelle then responded. "Hey, there might be a box in the supply closet..." She started. "Ms. Alphys, why don't Susie and I..." She then got interrupted by Alphys.
"G-Good idea, Noelle! Susie, s-since you came in late.. Why don't you get the chalk for me?" Susie looked over at Alphys and shrugged her shoulders. "...whatever." She then proceeded to walk out of the classroom. Alphys looked at me and asked, "And K-Kris.. can you go with her and make sure she uhm actually gets the chalk and stays out of trouble?" This is where I am going to die... I nodded. "Thanks, Kris! See you later!" I walked out of the classroom and into the hallway. I looked over and saw Susie standing there.. she reached into her pocket, grabbed something and took it out. It was the chalk!? To my surprise, she ate the damn thing like she skipped breakfast. She then turned around and walked towards me until she noticed me standing there.. witnessing everything.
The butch Lizard smiled.. it was a smile that doesn't suit someone like her. "Kris... Didn't see you there." Yeah, clearly. We both can't see crap with our bangs covering our eyes. Whatever. She turned away. "Hey, you didn't see anything just now, did you?" I stayed silent like always. "Hmmm... you can't even say." She then slowly turns back to me. “Kris…” She then proceeded to walk towards me.. I backed up until I hit the lockers, she is now up close. “Hey.” She started, and she then put a hand on my shoulder. “Let me tell you a secret.” In a moment of surprise, she picks me up and slams me into the lockers. “Quiet people piss me off. Heh, you think just ‘cause you don’t say anything.. A word… I can’t tell EXACTLY what you are thinking right now.” She remarked. Oh God.. this is the end of me.
“It’s OVER! I caught Susie eating ALL the chalk!” Hell no! I am fearing for my life over here! I just stayed silent. “This was her LAST chance! Now she’ll FINALLY be expelled!” She stated. No?? You’ll be expelled if you do something drastic like biting my face off! “Heh, come on, Kris. Don’t act shocked. You know that it is true. Everyone is waiting for it.. So, congrats, Kris. You got me, I’m done for.” NOT OVER CHALK!! “Just, lemme say one little thing.” What..? “Seems like a waste to get expelled just for having a snack. So, if I KNOW that you’re going to pull the trigger on me… Why don’t I just get expelled for some REAL carnage.” ……Oh god. “Kris, how do you feel…” About..? “About losing your FACE?!” I then had a flashback to what I had thought earlier..

Damn it. Susie then brought me closer and closer to her mouth.. I closed my eyes, waiting for the moment of pain… Only for it to not happen. She just dropped me. “Nah, Kris. You’ve got a good mother. It’d be a shame to make her bury her child.” THANK GOODNESS I AM ALIVE.
“Alright, let’s get this over with.” She decided. “We’ll get the chalk, mosey back to class, and then… YOU’LL do our project.” Yeah.. yeah I am fine with that. Jeez. “Let’s go, freak.” She walked off and I finally got up, I followed her toward the supply closet. “Well, here is the closet. Too bad… We were starting to have fun. She opened the closet and… the hall filled with darkness, inside the closet itself was nothing BUT darkness. Looks never-ending from here.

She opened the closet and… the hall filled with darkness, inside the closet itself was nothing BUT darkness. Looks never-ending from here.
Susie and I took a few steps back. “...Hey, Kris, is it me or is it REALLY dark in there.”
Huh, what happened to that tough girl persona

?! I looked at her and gestured a no, all while stepping away. “FINE! If you’re gonna be a WIMP, then I’ll…” She said, pausing. You’ll what? “We’ll BOTH go in at the same time!”

. We both walked into the seemingly endless abyss. “See? Why are you so scared? There’s nothing in here but old papers.” She stated. “Let’s try to find a light switch.”
Alright, that should be easy.
Susie went up ahead to find the switch and I did the same. “That’s weird, I can’t find a switch. Guess it’s further in.” She added.
How deep is this closet

“Uhhh… kind of big for a closet, huh?” I nodded in agreement. “You’d think we’d have reached the end by now, right?” Yeah, we should’ve. We went even deeper. “Hey, Kris? I think this closet’s uh broken. There aren’t any walls, well… we worked hard enough. If Alphys wants the chalk so bad, she can get it herself. Let’s split.”

. We both began to walk back to the exit when suddenly.. It CLOSED on us!!!! “Wh-What the…?!” Susie then ran past me and towards the door… or where the door used to be. “Hey! This isn’t funny! LET US OUT! LET US…” Her speech was interrupted as the papers on the floor shook violently. We both immediately took notice. “The floor, it’s…!” As Susie spoke, the papers began to fall, and we both took steps back in fear. As soon as all the papers fell… we fell with it. Into a new world. As we were falling, I felt my consciousness slip…
It took me a few moments to regain my consciousness but as soon as I woke, I sat up and noticed this new world I was in. Quite dark. I also noticed that Susie was nearby, she most likely ran off. I stood up and looked around. Hmm… I proceeded to the next room and I noticed a star thing just… floating there. Out of curiosity, I went up to it and touched it. A text box appeared in front of me, stating…

This is very strange. I decided to Save,
save? What is this, a video game? This is all so confusing.
I began to make my way through this Dark World, seeing nothing but darkness is strange yet… comforting. I soon after plenty of walking witnessed a figure running away from the top peaks. I looked for a few more seconds before continuing ahead. In the next room was a small drop, I slid down the eroded cliffside to get to the bottom. Continuing, there were 2 paths, I chose to go down and turn a corner. Seeing something shining in the pit, I reached in and grabbed it. A Glowing Shard might be useful, I returned to the main room and took the right. Upon entering the room, those wiggling.. Things began to shoot out pellets or balls at me, screw that! I ran past the obstacles while also taking notice of my SOUL emanating from my body.
I got to the next room and noticed another… I guess Save Point. I went over and touched it.
You bathed your body in the light. A power shines within you, breaking through the darkness. Any pain you may have had melted away…
I saved once more, once finished, I took a look to my right and noticed a puzzle. Going over and looking at it for a minute, I touched the middle and right eye. All 3 of the eyes turned black and a bridge appeared, I then walked across it and into the next room.
The room is what you expected, turns, eroded cliffside that I slid down but the difference is that there are multiple of these.. Puffy dust things? When I touched one, it exploded. Huh, Interesting. I touched all of them but as I was doing that, I saw something run from one dust mount to another. Getting closer it ran again until I got to the last one. “H-Hey! B-Back off! Come any closer and I’ll..!” That figure was Susie. “K-Kris!? Phew. Hey, don’t scare me like that, asshole! Unless you WANT to get clocked in the face, heh.” She remarked. I just rolled my eyes.
“Anyway, enough screwing around. We gotta find a way outta here.” She started, and she then looked around. “Where is
here
, anyway?” She asked.
I am just as confused as you, Susie.
She then looked back at me. “It doesn’t matter! YOU got us into this mess, YOU get us out!”
Of course, you blame me…
“Lead the way, Kris!” She stated. After walking now that far… “Oh my god. Nevermind. You walk WAY too slow. Move!” Susie shoved me out of the way and ran off.
Jeez, rude.
I went into the next room and the process continued. NEXT!!! I then met up with Susie who was staring at the same figure I had seen earlier.
“Yo, Kris. There’s someone up there waving at us. Any clues on what they want?” I looked up at the figure then back at her and shook my head. The figure raises its hand and then shoots Spades at us! “R-Run, Kris!!” Susie yelled as she ran. I ran as well, my SOUL once again emanating from my body as Spades showered from the sky above us. I dodged what I could but I ended up getting hit by some… which hurt! I met up with Susie in the next room. “Kris, down here!” We both slid down the rather long eroded cliffside and once again, avoiding the Spades from this time, the sides. I managed to avoid all of them, as soon as the Spades stopped, my vision went white…

When I came to, I got up from the ground and went into the next room where Susie was. “Oh, you’re not dead. Sweet.” She started.
Yeah, I am glad that I’m not dead too.
“Got any ideas on what the heck this place is?” She asked me.
No, Susie. I have no clue.
“...Me neither.” She responded. She looked towards the town. “Wonder if there’s anyone in that building up there?” I looked over at the town and…
IS THAT A CASTLE?!
I just walked through the town and noticed another Save Point… I touched it and Saved my progress. I looked at the distant castle and saw a black geyser emerging from it.. Piercing the endless darkness.
Susie and I walked into the castle. “A castle? Why and how the hell is there a castle in the supply closet?!” Susie questioned. Right?! This place makes no sense! Suddenly, a voice was heard. “Welcome, Heroes…!” it said. Susie was startled. “Who’s there?!” She exclaimed. “Don’t be alarmed, I am not your enemy. Please come forward, both of you.” It finished. Susie and I hesitantly went forward and saw the cloaked figure. “Welcome, I am the Prince of this Kingdom. The Kingdom of Darkness.” He started. A Prince? This is just sounding like a fairy tale. “Kris, Susie… Here in this land.. This World of Darkness is a legend.”
“A Legend that one day, two Heroes of Light will arrive, and fulfill the ancient prophecy, foretold by time and space. Please, Heroes. Would you listen to my tale..?” He finished and asked us. Curious, I nodded which made Susie groan. “Very well then.” The Prince cleared his throat and started.
“Once upon a time, a LEGEND was whispered among shadows.
It was a LEGEND of HOPE.
It was a LEGEND of DREAMS.
It was a LEGEND of LIGHT.
It was a LEGEND of DARK.
This is the legend of DELTA RUNE
For millennia, LIGHT and DARK have lived in balance,

Please, won’t you accept your destiny?” He finished.
Oh, yes! Hell yeah! FINALLY some thrill and excitement!
I nodded rapidly. Susie turned away from the Prince.
“Uhhh… Nah.” She plainly stated. …

The Prince seemed shocked. “W-What?” He asked confusingly. “A Hero? Me? You got the wrong person, pal.” She said with her usual smile. “B-But Susie, without you… the.. The world will…” The Prince then got rudely interrupted by Susie. “So what? If the world gets destroyed, it’s none of my damn business. Might even be kind of fun in all honesty, heh.” She finished. This Prince was left speechless…
“Anyway, Kris… If YOU wanna play pretend with this weirdo… Stick around, man. I am going to find a way out on my own.” She said. “Susie! Wait!” The Prince yelled as some person on a flaming bike hit him out of the way! “Ho Ho Ho! The heroes are already running away, and they didn’t even realize that I was here and there all along! My dad’s gonna make me Son of the Month!” He finished. “Who the hell are you?!” Susie exclaimed. “I’m… the Bad Guy! You Clowns want to seal OUR Dark Fountain so badly… and - STILL picturing you guys as Clowns! - Save the world from Eternal Darkness, huh!?” He stated. “Eh.” Susie muttered. “Don’t try to deny it…! We BOTH know that you’ll go East! It IS your only way home after all!” He blurted out.
