Work Text
I learned at a young age that all people are not treated equally. Some end up with everything a person could ever want. The latter, are forced to live a life of mediocrity. Some live lives even lower than that. Izuku was the prime example of such. Born in a society where superpowers exist and go under the name of “quirks”. 80% of the population possessed a quirk of some sort. Usually a mix of their parents quirks, however, there was a small 20% who didn’t have one. That’s where Izuku was on the society scale. All his life all he could dream about was being like his idol, All Might. The Symbol of Peace, a superhero god, an unstoppable force. The man saved hundreds of thousands of lives. Who wouldn’t want to be just like him? It was Izukus dream to be a hero, make a world where people didn’t have to worry for their safety. Because with hero’s, comes villains. People who just want to have their own way, no matter the cost.Villains disgusted Izuku, how could anyone be so cruel? Taking the life of an innocent person just because you wanted to? Something to be ashamed of, he wished nothing more than to be the person that puts a stop to these villains. Even though he didn’t have a quirk, he could still be a hero! …. Right? ……A push landed Izuku back on his butt, he hit the floor with a thud, a sound of pain and confusion escaping from his mouth. His shoulder aching with pain as if something had just burned him. And something had, Katsuki Bakugo had. He reached up to rub his shoulder hoping to ease the pain a bit.“It’s no use deku, you’re just a quirkless loser. So take my advice and jump, it’s not like this world has a use for you anyways.” The ashy blonde man sneered with his two friends, it was almost funny to Izuku. Just a few years ago they were inseparable. Always doing everything together, getting in trouble with their moms together, staying up late to watch All might movies, making up hero names together. But once Izuku got the news he wouldn’t manifest a quirk, it’s like Katsuki flipped a switch, immediately hating Izuku.“K-Kacchan, why are you being so mean?” Izuku built up the courage to ask, he sat on the floor, his hand on his shoulder and tears forming in his eyes. The blonde turned around quickly and let out a sneer, small tiny pops emerging from the palm of his hands.Katsuki Bakugo
Quirk
: Explosions.
He can make explosions from his palms due to the nitroglycerin he sweats, that being said, the more he sweats, the bigger the explosions. If you were to ask Izuku about any hero in all of Japan, he could tell you everything about their quirk, down to the keen details that are usually missed. Since he had no quirk, in his free time he studied other people’s quirks, it’s no surprise he knew all about Katsukis quirk.“Shut the fuck up nerd. I’m not being mean, i’m telling you the cold, hard, truth. There’s no place for you here, you just get in other people’s way. You should just kill yourself.” Izuku felt like he had gotten shot, the sudden words coming out of his childhood best friends mouth were enough to make him wish he would actually take his “advice”. Turning on his heels, Katsuki threw Izukus now burnt notebook
out of the window, and walked away with his hands in his pockets. A large egotistical smirk on his face. When Izuku finally found his notebook, most of the pages were burnt to smithereens. The writing now blocked by dark grey burn marks, to add insult to injury, it had landed in a fish pond. He shooed the fish away from the book and grabbed it looking over it. There was no use, it was officially destroyed. Add that to the list of countless books destroyed by the infamous Katsuki Bakugo.“Stupid Kacchan. You can’t just tell someone to kill themselves.” Izuku muttered whilst wiping the tears that threatened to fall. Beginning his walk home, he really thought about it. Maybe Katsuki was right, he had no friends, no quirk, no special abilities. The only person in his life that was nice to him was his mom, who quite frankly, didn’t really care for him. She was always at work, and when she was home, they shared a mere few sentences with eachother before she went to bed. It seemed like after the fourth or fifth time Izuku came home littered with bruises, burn marks, and scratches, she gave up. Knowing there was nothing to do.To make matters worse, the life expectancy rate for someone quirkless was 16. They would either die due to a villain attack and would have no way to fend for themselves. Or simply… kill themselves. Nobody would care if Izuku died, in fact it would be beneficial to those around him. All he did was mutter and interrupt the class anyways. On his way home, his worst nightmare came true. A villain attacked him, he seemed to be made up of a sludge consistency. Maybe mud? No, it was too slick to be mud. Maybe oil? Wrong again, it was far too thick to be oil.“Just sit back kid, there’s no reason to fight. You’ll be dead in a few minutes.” Izuku felt his life being drained from his body, he still continued to fight despite not being able to breath as the villain seemed to be trying to crawl into his mouth. Maybe to take over his body? Before he blacked out, he saw a faint bright smile in front of him.All might? He woke up to his face being slapped, lightly but multiple times. When he finally opened his eyes, he realized that it was in fact, All might himself. Before All might left, Izuku grabbed onto his leg, holding on for dear life.“Let go! What are you doing?” All might tried kicking the small boy off of his leg until he realized that he would in fact, die if he did let go.“No way! If i let go now i’ll die!” Izuku pushed his face into All might leg still holding on. They finally landed on top of a tall building. Not skyscraper high, but enough that if you were to fall, you certainly not continue to live.“Is it possible to be a hero? I don’t have a quirk but i can still try right?” Izuku fidgeted with his fingers while he asked the question. No better person to get his questions answered from the Number 1. hero himself.“It’s not. In this world, more than half the population have quirks. Being as it is, laws were set in place to prevent everyone from going wild. Those who disobeyed the laws are classified as villains. That leaves it up to use hero’s or police officers to take them down. Quirks are growing by the minute, if you think you can be a hero without a quirk, you’re sorely mistaken. Sorry kid. Bang on the door and someone will let you in.”He had his answer. There really was no purpose for him, yeah he could become a police officer, maybe. But they barely do anything. He felt tears fall down his face, all of his hope officially lost. All Might was gone by now, he was left on top of the roof. All hope now lost. What else could he do? Maybe, this was the life he was destined to live. He had letters upon letters already written for his mother. Telling her how much he appreciated her hard work, how much he loved her and such. All kept in a folder hidden in his backpack. Just in case, he said. Just in case anything ever happens to me. He figured if anything did happen to him the police would give the letters to his mother, saying the words he never got the chance to speak. The scars on his wrist were a constant reminder of how he was treated, not to mention the burn marks littered throughout his body, an even friendlier reminder of what people thought of him. It wasn’t just Kacchan that bullied him. Though he was the main protagonist. His teachers spewed harsh words at him, criticizing his entire being. He did well in school, he understood the lessons, but that didn’t stop his teachers from giving him bad grades. He was at the near bottom of his grade, he tried joining clubs at school, but they all turned him away.He kept a knife in his bag at all times, which doubled as a self defense tool, and a self discipline tool. He grabbed the small pocket knife from his bag and made small but deep cuts in his skin. The blood seeping from the cuts reminded him of the failure he was as a person. The bright red glisten from the liquid granted him small but great peace. Easing his nerves ever so slightly, he still had in his mind what he wanted to do. Tears stained his now wet face, snot rolled from his nose onto his lip, he let it continue its place there, too lazy to wipe it off. After he had added another whopping 15 new cuts to his wrists. He closed the knife and placed it down next to him. The blood from his wrists dripping down the side of the building making a puddle on the ground below. His mother would always tell him that he was beautiful, as well as other parents, only when he was young though.“My my, look at his big eyes. They’re gorgeous! He looks just like his momma!” His mother would blush from the compliments, feeling proud from the adoration for her son that was a splitting image of her. After awhile the nice compliments of his features turned into insults.“His hair is so unkempt, and his freckles poke out like a lose hair.” His mother would smile and nod, apologizing for the eyesore her son was. Inko thought Izuku was too young to understand what they were saying, but he understood. Every. Single. Word.It seemed as though his big, bright, glowing eyes, his cute freckles that littered his face, and his big toothy grin, were only “cute” was he was a child. Now it was disgusting, weird, and ugly.“Ew! Why would i ever be with someone as ugly as you?” A direct quote from the first girl he ever liked. That and the only girl he ever liked. He must’ve misunderstood her kindness for admiration. She had stood up for him the day before while he was getting picked on, but only because her mother was by her when she witnessed it. After the incident, he kept to himself. Word got around the school about his failed attempt at a confession and he didn’t hear the end of it for months. Constant glares and horrendous comments being thrown at him.“Ugly.”
“Loser”
“Disgusting”
“He’s so weird”
“Quirkless.”It was enough to drive him mad, which is way he started cutting himself. He never actually wanted to die, but he should at least feel the pain others have to witness when they see him. But even after all his hard work, he was still back in his own head. The voices in the back of his head screaming at him to jump as he was now in the edge of the roof. Sitting and his legs hung over the sides, the blood from his wrists dripping down, the sides of the tall building, making a small puddle on the ground. Thankfully this was an almost abandoned area, very few people came around this way. Which is why Izuku takes this way home.He looked out into the sky, seeing the beautiful orange and yellow sunset. That was something everyone could agree on, the sun was beautiful. No matter what its story was, no matter what it saw. It was still, beautiful. In a way Izuku hated the sun, it reminded him of Kacchan, how everyone loved and adored him. They all thought he was a model person, sure he was a very angry person, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t amazing. He had everything, he was smart, and he had an amazing quirk, he always knew what to say and when to say it, adults loved him. But worst of all, he was beautiful too, his ashy blonde hair that was always seemingly spiked up. His firey red eyes that pierced right through Izuku every single time he looked at him. His perfectly clear skin, not one pimple or blemish. His perfect figure, he wasnt disgustingly buff, but he was no wear near izukus frail figure. His deep ish gruff voice that always barked insults at Izuku. He should hate him for everything he did to him. But how could he? He was the definition of perfect. Destined to be the greatest hero on earth, and he let everyone know. Everyone was miles away from success while Katsuki could simply reach out and grab it.Katsuki was the sun.But Izuku was the moon. They were so close, yet words away. People praised the sun for its amazing beauty.“Wow, look at the sun today! Isn’t it so pretty?” People would always talk about it as if it was the greatest thing on earth. Much like they talked about Kacchan, they loved when the sun would come up, even if it was so powerful it could easily incinerate them if they got too close. Still they adored it, even knowing how dangerous it could be.But the moon was a whole different story, people looked down on the moon, thought it was annoying.“Ugh it’s already night time?” They would groan when the moon took its place in the sky. The moon was nothing like the sun, a weaker duller version of the sun. Nobody really cared about the moon, what purpose did it serve? If anything the moon brought night, and the night brought stars. Which were the real show. That wouldn’t be possible without the moon, yet people still continue to ignore it. To criticize it.That’s why Izuku hated the sun, especially since it seemed no matter how much sunscreen he put on, he still got burnt. No matter how much he tried to ignore it, he still got burnt. It was useless to try and ignore such a great force. It found him anywhere.Izuku fucking hated the sun.But he still admired it, maybe that’s why he was the way he was. Born so indifferently that he had no choice but to sit by and let anyone speak the way they wanted to towards him. His words would go forever unspoken after this night. He untied his shoes letting his laces dangle off the sides of his shoes, he slipped them off and placed them next to his body. His blood dripping over his bright red shoes. The contrast between a darker shade of red and a brighter shade totally visible. His backpack laid flat on the roof, laying right next to him. He ran his fingers through his unkempt slightly cruly hair, his hair was always fluffy as he didn’t know how to properly take hair of his curls. Not that it mattered, he liked the way his hair covered his eyes and his ears. Why would he change it. He stood up on the edge of the building looking down, he felt his tears drop from his face landing in the now larger pile of blood on the ground. A mix between clear and red, though you couldn’t see the tears. They were still there.“I love you mom, please take care of yourself for me.” Izuku let out in an almost whisper. He turned around, putting his arms across his chest. Tipping himself back he fell, a breeze of wind blowing his hair up. He felt his back hit the pavement, the pain coursing through his entire body for a split second. Before he completely black out. Finally.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
Izuku opened his eyes with a few blinks, vision still clouded with darkness. The overwhelming feeling of pain in his back making him immediately cry out, clutching his back in hopes to ease it.Why was he still alive? He did it didn’t he?Where was he?What the fuck is going on?Izuku clutched his chest, a pain finding itself deep in his heart as he came to a realization that he failed to even die. Such a failure yet he couldn’t even kill himself right. What a loser.“It seems as though nobody has found your body yet.” A sudden deep voice emerged from the darkness. Opening his eyes Izuku realized that he was in a very dark creepy alleyway. A tall man with white hair approached him, holding his hand out. Izuku went to take the hand but the pain was too much to move.“W-Who are you?” Tears pricked at the ends of Izukus eyes. The drip of blood running down his forehead.“I am but someone who sees potential in you. You’ve been looked down your whole life. You admire hero’s so greatly but yet, none have come to help you. What a sad sight.” The mysterious man helped Izuku up, holding him in his arms.“I want to help you.” Before Izuku could protest he passed out again. When he awoke, he found himself in a bright room, the white lights almost blinding him. He rose up from the bed, the painful sting still there, but slightly weaning away.“Ah, you’re awake. How was your little nap? Feeling better?” Izukus head snapped to the sudden words, a short bald man was sitting on a swivel chair typing in a computer, back turned to Izuku. He was chubby and dressed in a white doctors coat. Was he in, a hospital? No.No that can’t be right, he had already lost so much blood by the time he jumped. And that jump should’ve killed him. Fucking persistent doctors. Always sticking their nose where they don’t need to.“I should be dead.” The doctor stopped his typing abruptly and turned to face Izuku. His face coming into view, he looked like he was in his late 50s with a mustache and thick glasses covering his eyes. He looked at Izuku with a confused expression.“Jumping right to the point aye? Well i guess i’ll skip the small talk then. You were brought here by my master, he saw great potential in you.” Izuku thought back to the faint memory he had of a man talking to him. Though he couldn’t quite make out his face.“T-The man in the alley?” The man nodded and returned to typing on his computer.“From what it looks like due to your injury’s, you tried to kill yourself. The cuts in your wrist were deep and it caused you to lose a lot of blood, that’s why you’re hooked up to that machine.” Izukus head snapped looked up at the machine next to him. A large rectangular device that pumped blood into his left arm. His wrists wrapped in countless bandages.“Not to mention, your spine was shattered. It seems as though you actually did die. But you were only dead for about 5 minutes before my master found you.” Izukus felt his face turn bright red with anger, why the fuck would somebody save him? He didn’t want to be saved. Nobody came to the rescue when he was getting abused daily. But when he actually wants to die that’s when they step in?“I wanted to die. Why the fuck would you save me? Can’t you see how hard i tried?” The man simply ignored Izukus anger and continued typing, changing the subject.“Those burns on your body? They’re not self inflicted are they?” Izuku dropped his angry expression on his face, memories of Katsukis abuse coursing through his mind.“No.” The doctor hummed in response and turned back around.“I’ll let the big man explain the rest.” He got up from his chair and exited the room as another man walked in. He was tall, insanely tall. His face was sort of… mutilated? He had a mask on the covered his whole face regardless. He took a seat on a chair directly in front of the bed Izuku sat in.“Izuku Midoriya.” Izuku flinched at the name, not wanting to remember anything.“I am All for One. We spoke a few days ago, in the alley. I wish to help you.”A few days ago? No that can’t be right. How long was Izuku knocked out for.“Why am i here? Please, i need to know.” Izuku pleaded looking down at his hands.“You were born quirkless yes? How unfortunate, the way the people around you reacted to it. Beating you, throwing harsh words at you, making you feel like nothing.” Izuku felt himself cry as he heard All for One speak. Why was he crying? He already knew all of this. Stupid stupid Izuku.“These events caused you to kill yourself. What a harsh ending for such a young man. With so much life ahead of you aswell. You must be very angry with those who drove you to such an untimely demise.”“I’m only angry with myself, it’s my fault.” Izuku spoke up through choked sobs.“Don’t say such things. It’s the people you were surrounded with faults. They’re all clouded by a false sense of security. I’ve been watching you since you were diagnosed quirkless. You see i noticed something in you nobody did. The drive to be the best. That’s why i believe you should join me.” No no no no. This man was a villain. The way he spoke, no hero would talk like this. Izuku wasn’t a villain.“I’m no villain.” All for One hummed in confusion.“I have a proposal for you. I’ll show you just how everyone reacted to your death. If you don’t want to join me, that’s your decision.” After…. my death? But I’m alive? What? One for All took the wires from Izukus arms and lifted him from the bed, using his arms to help support him. A dark cloud surrounded them and Izuku yelped. All of a sudden.. He was back in the classroom.Fuck.No no no no no. He can’t be seen. No.
They’d make fun of him, no no no.“Do not be afraid, they cannot see nor hear us. I used my quirk. But this is real life time.” Izuku felt his nerves calm a little bit, not by much but still.Katsuki was sitting at his desk. Leaning back on his chair with his feet in the table and his hands behind his head. A groups of kids surrounded him.“Did you hear about Midoriya?”
“I heard he killed himself!”
“Poor kid.”
“What a loser.”
Phrases and sentences from the kids filled his ears, his heart sinking.“He had it coming. I’m just thankful he’s gone.” Izuku heard that one come from a voice all too familiar. Kacchan. His entire body shook with sobs and he slipped out of All for Ones arms, falling to his knees with broken sobs. When he opened his eyes, he was back in the white room.“They don’t care.” Izuku cried harder. He knew that would happen, nobody cared. His sadness turned to anger all too quick when One for All spoke the last sentence.“Make them pay for the pain they caused you.” A smile appeared on Izukus face as he removed his hands from his face. This definitely was not a quirk at work. He wanted revenge. “This is Tomura. You two share the same goal, i believe you two will get along well. And this is Kurogiri, he is a very good friend of mine. He will aide you as well as I. The world is your playground.”
It had been 5 months since Izukus death, there was a report on the news. But that was it, no memorial at school. No funeral. No nothing. Apparently All for One used one of the many quirks he had to bring Izuku back to life, but keep his body where it was found. Like a double almost, he was still himself. He just also had his other body where it was left.He had almost completely changed his appearance, his hair was now black. His freckles kept their place on his face, but his bright, big green eyes turned to cold, tired, dark eyes. He had a scar across his left eye from when a stupid d list pro- hero fought back a little too hard.Though Izuku didn’t have a quirk, he used his brains to conquer anything. He was a living genius, sometimes he thought that might be his quirk, but it wasn’t. He was just stupidly smart, he knew how to use any weapon he picked up. He was constantly working with the doctor on new and improving gadgets to better help All for Ones search for One for All.However, All for One had a weird plan that only Izuku could pull off.“Izuku, come here will you?” Izuku stopped welding the piece of equipment he was working on and walked over to where his master was sitting.“What’s up?” Izuku lifted his helmet off his head, setting it down on the table next to him.“I have a favor to ask of you, since you are my successor, i have no doubt you’ll be jumping at the opportunity.” Izuku nodded in agreement, signaling the man before him to continue.“My search for One for All has come to light, All Might gave his power away to a 3rd year student at the prestigious U.A high school.” Izuku rolled his eyes, his once love for All Might had turned into hatred and annoyance. Symbol of Peace his ass. He was nowhere near worthy of being the Number 1 hero.“Mirio Togata. He is the one who has inherited One for All. You will enroll at U.A, i’ve set up a fake family for you and everything. You look nowhere near your old self so blending in will be easy, i’ll also gift you a quirk. In return you will tell me when the class is unsupervised. Since All Might works at U.A now, there’s no doubt if the league wreaks havoc that his successor will show up. But we need to put an end to him.”Ew, he has to meddle with wannabe hero’s? What a joke, but it could be fun.“Alright fine, i’ll do it.” Izuku really didn’t want to do this, but how could he say no? Shigaraki and All for One were his family. His master was like the father he never had, he had to obey. Plus, he was promised revenge. No doubt Katsuki would get into U.A. How exciting.“Excellent!” All for one clapped his hands in excitement.“I took this quirk from a random hero a few years back, i believe it will suit you well. The quirk is called “Mind Reach” in short it’s a telekinetic based quirk. You can move things within a 20 meter radius, however the heavier the object the harder it is to control it. I have no doubt U.A will help you get stronger with your quirk, but you still have to train a little before you join the prestigious school.”A telekinesis quirk? That sounds like his mother, a little homage. Something to remember her by. Izuku often wondered how she was doing with his death. it had been an little over 5 months now since he had “died”. Meaning he would have 5 months to train, no sweat.5 months flew by faster than Izuku could imagine, he had worked his quirk up a lot in that time being, he also increased his physical abilities. He was pretty strong now. He had also blended in with his fake family, getting to know them was easy. His “mother”Name: Okamura AtsukoQuirk: Kinetic AuraShe can emit an invisible telekinetic field around her body, allowing her to lift, push, pull, or manipulate objects within a 10-meter radius.
