----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
🎶I~ Don’t Want A Lot For Christmas~ There’s Just One Thing I Need~🎶
Trish cracked her eyes open at the sound of her alarm, reaching out for her phone and fumbling to silence it before it woke up the whole house. She squinted at the time, 3:00 AM, way too fucking early. Groaning to herself, she stretched and moved to get out of bed, before arms around her nearly sent her back. “Just a few more minutes..” A sleepy voice mumbled. Trish turned to see Sheila barely peeking out of the nest of blankets, her arms reaching out for her, making the pinkette smile. “C’mon hon. We’ve got an Uber to catch.” Despite the grumbles of protest, Sheila slowly joined her as they began to move around the room, slipping on their clothes for the day, freshening up in Trish’s small bathroom, and fixing up the room before silently heading downstairs. “Alright, if we’re quiet, maybe my old man won’t wake up-”
“Think again.”
Both girls jumped at the voice, seeing a dark figure peeking out of the kitchen, but those striking green eyes told everything. Trish was the first to make it down, giving her father a quick hug. “Morning..” “Morning. You two taking the car or..?” “We’re taking an Uber. Don’t want anyone trying to get into the Fiat.” Trish felt the short chuckle through the older man’s chest. “That makes sense. There’s some espresso already, if you need some.” “Thanks, Mr..?” “Just ‘Dia’s fine, Sheila.” “A-Alright.” Some shuffling was heard before the dark became silent again and Trish was still there with her father, holding onto him. “You sure you can’t come with us?” The pinkette’s voice sounded small, reminding her of when she was little. A short but heavy pause followed. “I..I wish I could. I..just..” “It’s..It’s okay. I just..” “I know. I’d love to be up there. But..you should have fun without me.” Something about those words stung, making Trish swallow back a lump in her throat. “Plus, I can’t really handle the cold, heh.” She could hear him trying to bring some levity. “Yeah, heh. I..I guess you’re right.” “You be sure to stay warm up there for me. Okay?” “I..I will.”
Honk! Honk!
That seemed to startle everyone in the house, sending a shock all around. Suddenly, everyone was at attention; Trish quickly broke from her embrace, looking around wildly in the still dark. “Shit! Our bags! They’re still-!” “Don’t worry! I brought them down earlier! By the door!” Blood was back, thrumming through Trish’s ears, as she scrambled to the door, followed by Sheila, finding their suitcases and bags there just like Diavolo said. The door was opened as Sheila dashed out, taking her stuff, shouting back a hurried thank-you and a shout to Trish. The pinkette similarly took her stuff before glancing back into the dark house. There was a streak of the world, casting a pointed light towards the kitchen, and pointing her to the direction of those green eyes standing out in the dark with an unfamiliar longing and sadness. She saw the silhouette wave to her and those eyes crinkled a bit. “Have a good time and don’t be late!” Part of her wanted to beg, plead with him to pack a really quick bag and come with them, that they can sort things out at the airport and get him an extra ticket, that he can still spend Christmas with them all. Instead, Trish once again swallowed a lump in her throat and forced a smile. “I will! Merry Christmas Dad!” And she was out the door. The thrum of the soft rain was honestly grounding, helping to somewhat cancel out the roll of Narancia’s suitcase on the floor. The cold was still there, gods Fugo hated the cold, causing the young man to wrap his winter coat around himself tighter, suppressing a shiver. In either mockery or solidarity, Narancia did the same, though with a slightly exaggerated shiver and teeth chatter. Fugo rolled his eyes; he guessed the cold was the only constant they would bring with them from the city. Both young men blinked and yawned; they had been up much earlier, something Fugo said about double and triple checking to make sure they had everything and left no one’s gift behind. It partially meant a quick coffee for both of them, and time spent watching a morning winter drizzle as they waited for the Uber to arrive. It was quiet..for the most part. Fugo nearly flinched as he felt the weight of Narancia’s head against his shoulder. “Hey. Panna.” “Yes, Narancia?” “You’ve been..up there, right? Further up North?”
Fugo paused and looked up, wetting his lips before speaking.
“I..believe so.”
“Ohhhh cool. Was it for Christmas or some rich family stuff?”
“I..believe it was for Christmas.”
It was hard to say. He had vague memories and heard from his grandmother of a white Christmas from before he could recollect.
“Cool. How much do you remember?” “It happened when I was a toddler. I..don’t remember anything?” “Then how do you know you’ve been there?” Another pause; for all that people say about Narancia being unintelligent, he was smart in certain places. Both in the mouth and head. Fugo inhaled and exhaled, partially expecting to see mist, but they weren’t there yet. “..My..grandmother told me about it.” “Oh..” “She said she was there for it, which I believe, and she even had photos of it. She said it was..one of the few times my parents actually outwardly showed they cared about me..supposedly..” “Ohhh..Was that before you..?” Narancia gestured to his head and face, alluding to his silvery locks. Fugo couldn’t help but smile. “Yes. It was before my hair started to change. Back when my parents thought they had just a regular baby boy instead of a freak.” While he said it with a smile, it was bitter and Fugo’s words held that. His body rocked as he felt arms wrap around him sideways. “You’re no freak, Panna,” Narancia said, partially muffled by Fugo’s sleeve. “plus, I bet you were a cute baby.” “I..really wasn’t.” “C’mon! I bet you were!” Fugo scoffed, but there was still a tired smile on his lips. “Fine. I’ll show you the pictures once we get back and then we’ll see what you’ll say.” “Why not now? Uber’s not here yet and maybe if we book it-!” A pair of headlights and a car rolling up caught the duo’s attention and put an end to Narancia’s plan. The driver rolled down the window and looked over the duo through the light drizzle. “Uber for..Napoli Airport?” Fugo looked back with a bit of a smug look, met with a tongue being stuck out at him, before turning to the driver. “Yes, that’s us.” “Good. Toss in her stuff and let’s get moving.”
Slam!
“Got them..” “Alright! Thank you so much for the ride.” “No problem. You two have fun on your trip!” “ Grazie !” Bruno and Abbacchio stepped back as the car pulled away from the curb and zoomed off, leaving them on the corner of the airport. “Gods dammit..!” The goth cursed to himself as he ran with his suitcase towards the doors, finding a quick shelter under a roof as his hair quickly started to dampen. Holding an arm over his head with a smile, Bruno quickly joined him, jogging over with his suitcase in tow. He looked over to see his partner feeling his face, a scowl already on his face. “Bruno, be completely honest. How bad is my face?” The goth turned and though partially shielded by a curtain of damp lavender hair, Bruno could see tired, annoyed amber eyes looking back at him, ringed by black that was only slightly runny. The ravenette shook his head. “You’re fine,” he said. “eyeliner’s just a little watery.” “You’re sure?” “One hundred percent.” Abbacchio paused before sighing. “As long as I don’t look like I slept in it and that I’ve been crying for a few hours..” The goth took the handle of his suitcase and started walking towards the doors, opening for him as he shuffled forward. Bruno followed afterwards, offering a smile as he walked alongside his partner. “Smile, my dear. It’s nearly Christmas.” Abbacchio rolled his eyes. “Indeed..” The couple didn’t get very far in before seeing a family rush past in a hurry, having to quickly step out of their way. The airport, even in the wee hours of the morning, was lively. People going this way and that, lines at check-in counters already starting, quick announcements over Christmas music playing, and even a few shouts and cries could be heard. “Only the Christmas rush..” “And we’re stupid enough to be apart of it..” Bruno softly nudged his partner with his elbow. “Leone. Trish invited us to this. We should be happy.” “I get that. Just that it’s so last minute and-”
“Yo! Mom! Dad!”
Easily, that could’ve been from anyone, any adult child calling after their parents. But both of them knew better. It was hard to see at first through the many passing by, but the arms over the head and the wide smile told them enough. Mista. “How in Dante’s first through fourths Hell did he get here so..?” “Maybe Trish had them get here early because of Sera..” That sounded the most logical..Making their way through the throng of people, they caught up with Mista, with greetings and soft jokes. “All jolly and having fun, huh?” Abbacchio yawned behind his hand. “Oh yes. Holly jolly and all that shit..” “Wait. Where’s Giorno?” Mista’s face suddenly split into a grin. He pointed to a small corner. “Right here.” In a corner of oversized wooden beach chairs, Giorno sat in one with Serafina his arms, both sound asleep, surrounded by bags and suitcases, oblivious to the loud world around them. “Oh my..” Bruno tried to hide a smile. “Yeah. As soon as we got here and found a place to sit, boom. Out like a light.” “I’m surprised they both can sleep with everything.” “Yeah me too! My love’s really living up to his nickname..” Between the chattering, Abbacchio inched forward, trying not to disturb any of the bags around the two, slowly taking his seat in the opposite chair. He silently smiled; both looked so peaceful and he could see the toddler clutching her father’s coat, a small drool spot where her mouth was. There was some movement, not from Giorno, but from Mista, softly shaking his fiancé’s shoulder. “Hey..Babe..C’mon. Mom and Dad are here~” There’s some movement in the blonde’s face before falling back to neutral. Abbacchio moved to tell Mista to back off, but Bruno beat him to it with a hand on the brunette’s shoulder. “It’s alright, Mista. Let him sleep. They both look exhausted..” Mista opened his mouth to say something, but nodded instead. “Yeah..Anyways,” he clapped his hands together softly and looked between the other couple. “did you guys have a chance to get an espresso or coffee or..?” “Heh, Not quite..” “An espresso sounds fucking perfect.” “Heh, alright! I’m sure they got a station somewhere around here..”
“Guys!!”
The call and the chorus of fast moving rolling wheels startled the group, turning to see Trish, Sheila, Fugo, and Narancia rushing and weaving through the crowd, suitcases and bags in tow. “Whew, g-good thing we got to you guys..” “H-Ha! I told ya I saw them!” “You..said that about the last group and you found some other random family..” “Gentleman!!”
Clap!!
Trish’s clap resounded through their little corner of the airport, startling them, along with waking Giorno and Serafina. “A-Are we there..?” “Heh, not yet, Aurora. We’re at the airport still..” “Mmm..” Everyone tensed up, hearing the displeased whines of their youngest. Mista was the first to step up, taking the little girl in his arms and bouncing her. “Awww, it’s okay, Feenie. It’s good. Both your papas are here, along with the rest of the family~” The brunette turned around to show his daughter, met with small yet tired waves and smiles. “See? It’s all good, mio angelo. No need to cry~” The toddler was quiet before burying her face in Mista’s neck shyly, bringing forth many ‘aww’s and genuine smiles. “Aww, baby girl~-Ah! No time! Family, we’ve got to get to check-in, security, pat down and all that!” “Okay! Okay! Heh.” “Trish, did you get..*yawn* some espresso or something..?” “Uhhh, one problem, Princess. We don’t know where to check in.” “Oh. Right.” the pinkette quickly pulled out her phone, tapping quickly across her screen. “Okay…Since we’re taking…check in should be..” Trish’s head lurched up, looking behind her. “That way!! C’mon!!” With that, the pinkette was off again, followed by Sheila, leaving the others confused and even a little envious. “Where the hell did she get all that energy?” “She seemed a little..manic, I’ll be honest. I hope she’s alright..” “Whatever she took, I need some of that.” “I’d…like some, too..” “Get in line, Princess.” “Leone, don’t start..”
“GUYS!! GET MOVING OR WE’LL BE LATE!!!”
Well, that was their push. An additional chorus of rushing feet and rolling wheels added to the chaos. They were officially off.
