Regulus was always a quite boy didn't like to be the centre of attention because he knew where there was attention there was trouble his mother had taught him that. As a boy he would have done anything for those brief moments where his mother would shed her heart of stone and smile at him the way a mother should smile at her son. but as he grew up he realised that's all they were moments in time and the pain he felt at her hands would last forever he stopped trying once he realised that, the happy boy had died and so had the smiles from a loving mother.When Regulus first went to Howarts it was expected of him to act as some sort of damage control after the dishonour his older brother Sirius had brought to The Nobel House of Black. Luckily for Regulus he was sorted into Sytherin as was intended for the son of Orion Black, he quickly learnt that he was not supposed to talk to Sirius while at Howarts and that's not to say he didn't want to he wanted more then anything to reach out and connect with his big brother but Sirius had found his new family and Regulus now must do the same. Sirius had started to hang around a group of other Gryfindoors and they called themselves the marauders which Regulus always thought sounded like a failed boy band but at the end of the day Sirius had won he had found an escape from the hell that was home but it seems while Sirius was busy playing brother to James Potter he had forgotten about his real brother who was left all alone at Hogwarts.Eventually as the years went on Regulus started to make his own little family which consisted of Pandora Rosier and her brother Evan, Barty Crouch
jr and the crown jewel Dorcas Meadows. they acted as the support he needed to make his way through the years of facing the isolation from his brother at school and the constant battel he fought at home with Sirius and his parents. As he went through his years at Hogwarts he started to notice his brothers affection towards a certain marauder Remus Lupin, Regulus knew him of course he did it was the only thing Sirius was ever talking about whenever he brought himself to speak to Regulus. He knew his older brother he knew whatever it was Sirius felt towards the boy Remus it was more then a friendly connection he knew his brother was in love with the boy a concept not totally disgusting to Regulus in fact he himself as he has experienced something similar but he would never admit to such things especially not when the one he felt theses things for was one of Sirius's own friends he lost enough he didn't need to lose whatever was left of Sirius.But however hard Regulus tried to ignore the heat that rose to his checks when he saw James potter strutting through the halls as if he was the one that crafted the himself it should make Regulus sick the way he acts and if it was anyone else he was sure he would be the first to point out their flaws to everyone but no matter how hard he tried he couldn't find any flaws with James. Well maybe one the fact he was a boy that made Regulus angry beyond belief if James was a girl he could be free to love him and kiss him, but James was a boy and with parents like Orion and Walburga Black being gay was completely out of the question actually it wasn't a question it wasn't even a possibility for them that one of their sons could even be something like that.

It was a few weeks away from Christmas in Regulus's fifth year at hogwarts which for most children his age would be an exciting time but for Regulus it just sparked dread deep in his stomach that he would have to go back to that house back to them. What was worse Sirius got to spend Christmas with the potters this made Regulus mad in a way he couldn't explain, it was almost as if his whole body was on fire he felt like he was going to kill the next person he saw. he was however sure that the anger he felt had nothing to do with his feelings for James and everything to do with the betrayal of his brother. When Sirius had told him he gave him his present early it was a book not just any book the book Sirius just to read to him when things were getting bad in the house whether that was because of arguments or something more sinister they would face it together as brothers but now Sirius was gone and the book that once brought him so much joy now made him feel more rage.He knew his mother was going to through one of thoughts ridicules yule balls that she dose every year and invites thousand of pure blood family's hopefully he would be able to see some of his friends and avoid the demanding eyes of his parents but what he couldn't have guessed was the arrival of the potters and Sirius. Great Regulus though now he would not only be stuffed into a room with the people he hated the most but also he would have to see James looking ridiculously handsome blabbing about some girl called Lily.This was exactly what Regulus needed to get over this boy even though it nearly ripped his heart out to listen to him talk about her he knew this would do him some good to see he was and will never be interested ever. But just as Regulus was coming to terms with the harsh reality of his situation James looked up at the completely wrong time what a dickhead why cant he let Regulus morn in peace, then as if to add to Regulus pain he flashed his usually James potter grin and Regulus was right back where he started totally and pathetically in love with James potter.As the night went on nothing else happened apart from a few more stolen glances from both James and Regulus it was like they were magnets drawn to each other by some force. But Regulus had knocked that down to his delusion talking and probably James was just being polite because Regulus was his best friends little brother. this was something Regulus was not ready to face yet the reality that James might just thing of him as Sirius's weird little brother hell he probably doesn't even know his name that thought stung like a punch to the gut thinking that the boy he had loved since he started at that god forsaken school saw him as nothing more then a piece of Sirius's life and nothing more.
