The Burrow buzzed with the warmth of Christmas morning. Molly Weasley’s bustling in the kitchen was a familiar soundtrack to the clatter of mugs, laughter, and the occasional shout of, “James, get down from there!” The mismatched Christmas pajamas added to the chaos: Ron sported bright red ones with little Chudley Cannons logos, while Hermione’s navy set had subtle golden stars that matched Rose and Hugo’s outfits. The smell of cinnamon rolls wafted through the house, mingling with the sharp pine scent of the massive Christmas tree.Ron was struggling to wrangle a giggling Hugo into a chair at the breakfast table while Rose sat with Victoire and Dominique, sorting through a pile of chocolate frog cards.“Honestly, Hugo,” Ron huffed, planting the boy in his seat. “You’re as slippery as a greased pygmy puff.”“Daddy, you’re just slow,” Hugo replied cheekily, making everyone nearby laugh.Hermione joined Ron, her arms full of mugs of cocoa. “Here you go,” she said, placing one in front of him. “Hot cocoa, extra marshmallows.”“You’re a lifesaver,” Ron said, grinning. At the far end of the table, Harry and Ginny were trying to manage their brood. James was loudly describing his broomstick stunts, while Albus carefully lined up his new wizarding chess set pieces. Lily, meanwhile, clung to her father’s leg, demanding more pancakes.“I think we need a referee for breakfast,” Harry joked, shaking his head.“Good luck with that,” Hermione called over, laughing. The door swung open as Bill, Fleur, George, and Charlie carried in extra chairs. Percy and Audrey followed closely, balancing trays of toast and eggs. Even Arthur had taken a rare break from tinkering to join the festivities, beaming as he helped Molly bring out the last of the breakfast dishes. As everyone settled in, Harry nudged Hermione, who sat beside him. “You ever think about how mad this is?” he asked, gesturing at the packed room.“Mad good,” Hermione said, smiling as she looked around. “I mean, growing up, it was just me and my parents, and they were wonderful, but... this? This is something else entirely.”Harry nodded, his gaze softening. “Same here. I never imagined I’d have anything like this. The Dursleys... well, you know how that was.”Hermione patted his arm. “You and me, Harry. We both lucked out. I didn’t just marry into this family—I got a brother out of it, too.”Harry grinned. “The feeling’s mutual, sis.”“Oi,” Ron interrupted, nudging Hermione lightly with his elbow. “Stop monopolizing Potter. It’s Christmas.”Hermione laughed. “He’s all yours, Ronald.”The morning passed in a delightful whirlwind of presents and games. George enchanted a pack of exploding crackers, setting off small bursts of colorful confetti every time someone opened one. Molly scolded him but couldn’t hide her smile. The kids performed an impromptu play, with Louis hilariously overacting as a very pompous Father Christmas, while Rose and Victoire tried to keep things on track. As the sun dipped lower in the sky, the adults gathered in the living room, sipping hot cocoa or tea. The children were engrossed in a noisy game of Exploding Snap, their laughter and shouts echoing through the cozy space.“Ron,” Charlie said, leaning over the armrest of the couch. “Come on, mate. It’s Christmas. Time for a drink.”Ron groaned. “Not this again.”“You’ve been a saint ever since your wedding night disaster,” George chimed in, smirking. “But surely Hermione will let you off the leash for one day.”“Let him off the leash?” Hermione repeated from her armchair, raising an eyebrow. “Excuse me, George?”“Poor choice of words,” George said quickly, holding up his hands in surrender.Ron chuckled. “Nice knowing you, George.”“I’m just saying,” Bill added, leaning back with a glass of firewhisky, “you’re missing out.”“I’m fine,” Ron said firmly, standing his ground. “I’ve got everything I need right here.”Hermione’s expression softened as Ron sat down beside her, draping an arm around her shoulders. “You’re insufferably sweet sometimes, you know that?”“Only for you,” Ron said, grinning. His brothers did an act of gagging and chocking at their lovey-dovey act.The evening wore on, with Percy attempting to organize a carol sing-along that quickly devolved into chaos when George enchanted the lyrics to switch to “Weasley Is Our King” halfway through. Molly shook her head, though she was clearly amused, while Arthur laughed so hard he nearly spilled his tea.Later, Charlie reappeared with a bottle of firewhisky and a determined glint in his eye. “All right, last chance. Who’s in?”“Charlie,” Molly scolded, though there was no heat in her tone.Ron stood up, surprising everyone. “Fine. One drink.”“Ron!” Hermione protested, but he held up a hand.“Relax, love. Just one. I’ll behave.”He followed Charlie and the others into the kitchen, where Bill poured a round of drinks.“To family,” Bill said, raising his glass.“To family,” the others echoed, clinking glasses. As the others drank, Ron lifted his glass to his lips, then paused. With a mischievous grin, he tipped the contents into a nearby potted plant while the others weren’t looking. When he returned to the living room, he staggered slightly, his cheeks flushed.“Ronald,” Hermione said, narrowing her eyes. “Are you drunk?”“Me? Nah,” Ron slurred, collapsing onto the couch beside her.Hermione crossed her arms. “I cannot believe you—”Ron burst out laughing, dropping the act. “Relax, Hermione. I didn’t drink a drop.”Her mouth fell open, and then she smacked his arm. “You’re impossible.”“And you love me for it,” he teased, pulling her close.“Unfortunately, yes,” she admitted with a smile. He leaned in, brushing his lips against hers in a tender kiss. Around the room, the other couples followed suit: Harry and Ginny, Bill and Fleur, George and Angelina, and even Percy and Audrey. The children, catching sight of the kissing adults, let out a collective groan.“Ewwww!” Hugo exclaimed, covering his eyes dramatically.“Why do grown-ups *do* that?” Rose asked, making Victoire giggle. The room erupted in laughter as the couples pulled apart, exchanging fond glances. Hermione rested her head on Ron’s shoulder, her hand slipping into his.“Merry Christmas, Ron,” she said softly.“Merry Christmas, Hermione,” he replied, kissing her forehead. As the snow fell softly outside, the Burrow glowed with the warmth of family, love, and the magic of Christmas.
