Something about Hinata Shoyo that Atsumu figured out pretty early on was that the intensity of his gaze mellowed out once he stepped out the volleyball court.During a match, Shoyo’s presence felt as bright as a shooting star burning through the night skies, but when Atsumu met him in the restroom after their match, his presence felt more like the comfortable warmth of sitting with your legs under the kotatsu during a winter day.“That was a nice game, Atsumu-san,” Shoyo complimented him with a smile, despite the redness around the rim of his eyes.“Told ya I’d crush ya next time,” Atsumu chuckled, eyes wandering off to quietly admire the number 7 now plastered across Shoyo’s jersey. Ever since the promise he had made to Shoyo the year before, Atsumu waited in anticipation for the next opportunity to face Hinata Shoyo in court. He was itching to know how far Shoyo had come since the last Nationals, and despite a few bumps on the road, Atsumu could only thank the universe for the opportunity to play Karasuno one last time before graduation. “Guess that means I only have one more promise to fulfil now, right?”Shoyo whipped the swear off his forehead and let out a tired giggle, the sound echoing through the empty bathroom like thousands of bells chiming in the wind — and if you asked Atsumu, no one had the right to look this ethereal while standing on a dirty public restroom. “You really meant it that time, Atsumu-san?”“‘Course I did,” Atsumu scoffed, offended at the mere suggestion. “I don’t go around saying things I don’t mean, Shoyo-kun.”“Right, of course,” Shoyo raised his hands in surrender. “I shouldn’t have doubted you, Atsumu-san. You’re every bit of the person they say you are.”That perked Atsumu’s interest. “And what sort of person that might be?” He pressed on, despite the fact he had agreed to meet with the rest of his team to celebrate and he was running dangerously short on time.He knew Osamu could burst through those doors at any minute, yet at that moment, all he cared about was discovering what sort of man Hinata Shoyo thought him to be.“The hungry kind,” Shoyo replied, tilting his head to stare Atsumu in the eye, and that intense gaze that had first lured Atsumu in the year before was suddenly back in full force: whenever Shoyo got that look on his face, Atsumu felt like he couldn’t look away even if he tried. “You’re passionate about what matters and won’t stop until you get what you want. Am I wrong?”In Atsumu’s opinion, under Shoyo’s intense gaze like that was enough to make weaker men quiver, feeling like a prey caught under its predator’s paw.Atsumu, however, was no such man: ever since their first meeting in the year before, he had found Shoyo’s fierceness alluring, and he would take any opportunity to have Shoyo’s undivided attention on himself.“Not in the slightest, Shoyo-kun,” he replied with a smirk, “’m not the type of man that’s ever easily satisfied. And ya know what?”There was a certain tension in the air at that moment — something sharp, and so unfitting of a men’s restroom of all places, but as Atsumu had his eyes on Shoyo, he could almost ignore the scene around him for a moment. To his credit, Shoyo at least had the decency to sound unaffected. Atsumu wasn’t sure he could say the same about himself. “What is it, Atsumu-san?”“Something tells me that’s a feeling ya know all too well," Atsumu’s smirk turned cheeky. “Ya don’t look like the type of person who’s ever satisfied.”If hearing those words caught Shoyo by surprise, the boy didn’t let it show in his face: as Atsumu studied his features, all he could spot was the subtle cheekiness that he had grown to find strangely endearing. The giggles that escaped his lips a moment later definitely had a similar air of cheekiness. “You could say that,” Shoyo conceded, seemingly amused at the prospect of being perceived under such an intense light. “Someone once told me that the things you get in life are the ones you work for, not the ones you dream of. If that’s the case, what’s the point in ever being satisfied?”Atsumu seemed stunned for a moment. “That’s sorta poetic, Shoyo-kun. I had no clue ya had that in ya.”Shoyo chuckled, fingers brushing Atsumu’s wrist for a moment before letting it go. “Nah, that’s just the truth. Even if you reach another goal, there’s always something bigger right up ahead, right? We need to keep moving.”For a person like Hinata Shoyo, born with all the cards stacked against him, perseverance was a survival skill: if he had to work twice as hard to reach the same heights as his peers, then by all means, aiming for the moon with all his might was kept the fire inside of him burning.Shoyo’s hunger was what first drew Atsumu in, similar to a moth drawn to a flame; and after a year training and dreaming with the moment he would get to prove his love for volleyball was enough to match Hinata Shoyo in kind by crushing him under his paw, he wasn’t quite ready to move on from this.Unfortunately for him, the spell they seemed to be under was suddenly broken as the door suddenly flew open.“Hinata, you idiot, where are you?!” Tobio’s voice echoed through the dirty walls of the bathroom they were in, and for a moment, Atsumu’s smirk turned sour: he knew Tobio likely didn’t know Atsumu was there as well, since the two of them had been conveniently out of sight, yet he couldn’t help but resent the way he could easily diverge Shoyo’s attention to himself. “The bus is almost here!”“I’m coming!” Shoyo shouts back with a frown. “Just give me a moment, Bakageyama! I’m almost finished!”“Just be quick!” Tobio grumbled but didn’t press further. “I swear your stomach issues have the worst timing ever…”The door closed a moment later, but Atsumu knew their previous conversation had been effectively cut short.“Charming, isn’t he?” Atsumu commented, hoping Shoyo couldn’t pick out the pettiness in his voice.Realistically, he knew he would sound just as annoyed if it was his brother taking too long in the bathroom after such a sore defeat, but since Osamu wasn’t there to call him out on his hypocrisy at the moment, it was fair game.“Sorry about him, I swear he was raised by cavemen,” Shoyo apologised on his boyfriend’s behalf, right before uttering the words Atsumu was dreading to hear: “I guess I should be going now, Atsumu-san.”“A shame,” Atsumu said dramatically, “It’s been so long since the last time we got to bump into each other like that, Shoyo-kun, and now ya barely have any time to catch up. I’m wounded!”Atsumu wasn’t above a little whining and drama if that was what it took to keep Shoyo’s attention on him for longer.“I’m really sorry,” Shoyo bowed apologetically. “I wish we could keep talking, but the bus…”Atsumu sighed. “Well, In that case, could ya at least give me yer number?”It was a bold move, and Atsumu knew as much.Although Hinata Shoyo was a social butterfly by nature, everyone knew Kageyama Tobio and Hinata Shoyo had been an item since their first year of high school. Tobio didn’t seem to be particularly jealous, but asking for his boyfriend’s number right under his nose still took some guts. Then again, Atsumu was about to graduate, so this was most likely the last opportunity he’d be given to keep in touch with Shoyo. He wasn’t about to waste it out of respect for a boy who seemed way too embarrassed to give someone like Hinata Shoyo the attention he deserved.“My number?” Shoyo blinked. “What for?”“To keep in contact, of course,” Atsumu chuckled, handing Shoyo his own phone as some sort of invitation. “’m graduating soon, so I might not get another chance to get your number.”Atsumu immediately cringed at his choice of words, fearing it betrayed his real intentions a little too much, but if Shoyo caught on to it, he thankfully didn’t bring it up. He simply took Atsumu’s phone in his hand with a smile, quickly imputing his own contact information.“You might come to regret this,” Shoyo commented as he typed. “When it comes to texting, I’ve been told I can be a bit overbearing!”“Oh?” Atsumu could almost picture it: texting Shoyo-kun so often their text chain starts to look a lot like one of those long conversations, with no beginning nor end. The prospect of sharing such an intimate dynamic felt exhilarating, even if a bit delusional.Realistically, Shoyo-kun had a lot of people willing to spend time with him, and with his last year of high school approaching fast, he could only dream of having that much of Shoyo’s attention for himself. Then again, Shoyo-kun had just told him that the things one gets are the things they work for, not the things they dream of — so maybe if he put enough passion and effort into it, just like he did with everything else he did, Atsumu could have a good shot at getting closer to the boy.Finding a way to get Shoyo’s number without sounding creepy was the hardest step on that particular plan, after all, so with that out of the way, things should be a lot less complicated from now on.Right?“Well,” Atsumu hummed once Shoyo handed him back his phone. “I look forward to it!”Wrong.Getting involved with Hinata Shoyo rarely ever made life less complicated; it made life a lot more interesting, that is for sure, but complicated nonetheless. That same night, Atsumu texted Shoyo a funny sticker of a cat with its tongue sticking out, followed up by a quick: “Hey Shoyo-kun, Atsumu here! Make sure to save my number, will ya?”He wondered if he was being too forward, starting a conversation so suddenly right after getting Shoyo’s number, but ultimately decided it wasn’t worth the stress: from what he has noticed about Shoyo, he doubted the boy would take offense in someone making an effort to approach him — and, since Atsumu was bold by nature and not easily embarrassed by social interactions, he was more than up for the challenge.Sure enough, he got a response only a few minutes later: “Atsumu-san, hi!! ^-^ I wasn’t expecting your text! That’s so cool!”“Why not?” Atsumu felt a smile spreading across his face as he texted back, pushing the conversation happening around him to the back of his mind. The Inarizaki High School team was out celebrating their victory, yet Atsumu’s mind was elsewhere. “I told ya I would, didn’t ya?”It was unlike him. Although making friends was hardly his main priority through his high school years, Atsumu always enjoyed hanging out with his teammates, especially after a victory like that.Unsurprisingly, it didn’t take long until Osamu took notice.“Oi,” he snapped his finger in front of Atsumu’s face, “what’s got yer ass glued to that phone today?”“Nothing,” Atsumu grumbled in response, “just texting.”Osamu raised an eyebrow. “Texting who exactly?”“None of yer damn business,” Atsumu shoved the phone back in his pocket, then added: “It’s just a friend.”Osamu stared at his brother as if he had grown a second head, which made Atsumu realise that, sometimes, having a twin brother who knows you better than yourself has its disadvantages. And, considering Atsumu was an oversharer by nature, Osamu knew he didn’t have many friends who would get him smiling at his screen in the middle of a celebratory feast like that.“Shoyo-kun gave me his number today,” Atsumu sighed in resignation, knowing his brother wouldn’t let the matter go until he managed to bully the truth out of him. “I just texted him to say hi.”Osamu blinked. “Hinata Shoyo? As in, the very much taken middle blocker from Karasuno? He gave ya his number?”“Just to keep in touch!” Atsumu retorted, “since we won’t see each other next year.”“Right, of course,” Osamu rolled his eyes, “and this has nothing to do with yer fat crush on him, right?”Again, having a brother who could read you like a book was proving to be such a hassle.“‘Samu, shut yer trap.”“Yer not denying it,” Osamu pointed out, then quickly added: “‘Tsumu, he’s with Tobio-kun… ya know that, right?”“‘Course I do,” Atsumu rubbed his hands through his face in frustration. “I don’t need ya to remind me. I’m just trying to be friends with him, really!” “Whatever ya say,” Osamu sighed in resignation, resting his head against his brother’s shoulder, “just don’t do anything stupid, ‘kay?”Osamu’s nagging was laced with worry, and Atsumu hated it.“Relax, we’re just texting!” Atsumu tried to reassure him. “Stop worrying so much!”Shoyo was a warm and friendly person, and Atsumu could use more friends who shared his degree of passion for the things that mattered. If friendship was all Atsumu could have of him, then that would be enough.Atsumu fished his phone out of his pocket once again and was greeted by Shoyo’s response: “Well, you told me you were looking forward to talking to me, but I didn’t think you’d message me so soon! But… I’m happy about it :D”It would have to be enough.—Several months went by after Inarizaki High School won the Japan High School Volleyball Championship Tournament, and as the seasons changed, Atsumu’s life changed with it.The Miya twins graduated high school that year, bidding farewell to their younger teammates just like Aran-kun and Kita-san had done the year before. It was a bittersweet feeling: very few people had the pleasure of finishing such an important cycle with a national championship under their belt, yet that championship also was the last official tournament the two of them got to play as a duo.Osamu had made his choice: he wanted to get a degree and open his own restaurant one day. Atsumu had time to get used to the idea, but that did little to soothe his heart when the time actually came to follow separate ways.He texted Shoyo that day, something that was slowly turning into a habit for him: “We’re graduating today, Shoyo-kun!! Though I still can’t believe that scrub is giving up volleyball for good… Can ya believe it? We could be a force to be reckoned with together!”He knew that was his dream, not Osamu’s — they might share a passion for volleyball as a sport, but Osamu had different plans for the rest of his life.Atsumu would support him no matter what, but that didn’t prevent him from feeling a bit petty about the whole thing.“Congratulations, Atsumu-san!” Shoyo texted him back a few minutes later. “I heard you signed a contract with the MSBY Black Jackals, is that true?”That was also a thing, he supposes. Being signed with a First League team straight from high school was no small feat, even if it was very likely he would end up on the bench for the first few months.Still, he was one step closer to his dreams, and that was enough to fill him with pride.“Yeah,” he replied, smiling at his phone’s screen, a familiar sight for those around him for the last few weeks.“That’s so cool! And I guess that proves it, then,” Shoyo continued, “that even without Osamu-san by your side, you’re already a force to be reckoned with!”Atsumu stared at that text message for a while, fighting the warm feeling in his chest. As the weeks went on and they kept texting each other, Atsumu came to learn Shoyo never shied away from complimenting the people he cared about. His compliments were never shallow and undeserved; Shoyo simply pointed out things he genuinely appreciated about the people around him, and being on the receiving end of Shoyo’s affection always made Atsumu preen.“I guess yer right, Shoyo-kun,” Atsumu eventually responded, “screw that scrub!”Shoyo replied with a sticker this time: a bunny with a shocked expression on its face.“Don’t be mean, Atsumu-san,” his follow-up text said, “I’m sure Osamu-san will always cheer for you from the side-lines! He cares a lot about you!”Atsumu knew that was true: the Miya twins might spend a lot of their time bickering and pestering each other, but they always had each other’s back at the end of the day. Atsumu would miss having his brother by his side on the court, but if Osamu wanted to open a damn restaurant one day, you could bet Atsumu would be his most loyal patron when that day comes. He knew in his heart his brother would do the same for him; that was just how the two of them were.Still, knowing Shoyo was able to notice that much after only meeting the two of them in person a couple of times was baffling. Perhaps Atsumu didn’t give him enough credit for his observation skills.“Whatever ya say, Sho-kun!” Atsumu quickly sent the text before he could have the chance to think twice about the nickname — that was his graduation day, and since he couldn’t give Shoyo his second button, he felt the urge to take the risk.“Sho-kun?” Shoyo replied shortly after, and Atsumu felt unnerved by the lack of emotes.“Do you like it?” He inquired, following up with a sticker of a cat with an inquiring face.Shoyo took some time to reply to that.Atsumu would have to get ready for his graduation ceremony soon, and considering his mother was already nagging the boys to finish getting ready, he should probably put his phone to the side for the time being and focus on that.Still, he fired Shoyo another text before locking his phone and heading to the bathroom: “I thought it sounded cute.”It was only after the ceremony that Atsumu had the chance to check Shoyo’s reply: “It does sound cute,” his message said, “I like it.”Atsumu felt a grin slowly spreading across his face.Although he had convinced himself that friendship was all he could ever have from Shoyo, there were moments in which the lines between friendship and something further seemed to get dangerously blurry between them.In moments like these, Atsumu allowed himself to imagine he had a chance of having something more with Shoyo: ruin their friendship and take Shoyo as a lover, showing him the devotion he deserved. However, that was a dangerous train of thought, and Atsumu knew as much: Shoyo probably only saw him as a friend, and he was in a steady relationship with Tobio. So, in an attempt to keep his own delusions under control, Atsumu would push his fantasies to the back of his mind and change the subject. It wasn’t a perfect plan, but it worked well enough. That is, until it didn’t.One day, Hinata Shoyo was the one who crossed those blurry lines between them and forced Atsumu to face the messy bundle of feelings that he had been trying to ignore.—It started with a message sent by Shoyo on an uneventful Thursday evening: “Atsumu-san, are you busy?”Atsumu, who had just been lounging on the couch, scrolling through his phone as he gathered courage to go grab dinner, perked up immediately upon seeing the text. “Nah, never for ya,” he replied on the same beat, “what’s up?”“Atsumu-san! You’re too sweet to me! T-T,” Shoyo texted back a couple of minutes later, “I know you’re probably a lot busier now that the volleyball season is about to start… I’m impressed you still manage to find the time to text me back so often!”In truth, Shoyo had been taking a lot of Atsumu’s free time even when the two of them were not texting: he thought about the boy constantly, eagerly waiting for his next response like a starved man. Volleyball became a solace of some sort, since it was easier to shut down his dangerous fantasies about Hinata Shoyo and focus on the teammates in front of him, waiting for his serves. That being said, whenever practice was over and Atsumu was once again left alone with his own thoughts, they would inevitably drift back to Shoyo. They were just friends, of course, but his inner fantasies were no one’s business but his own.“‘Course I do, Sho-kun!” Atsumu’s fingers quickly typed a response. “What do ya take me for?”“A pretty busy person,” Atsumu could almost picture Shoyo’s smile in his head as he read his reply. “Kageyama has been so busy recently, with his new duties as vice-captain and the pre-Olympic training. I can only imagine the routine of a pro-athlete is even busier!”At that, Atsumu paused. He was aware Kageyama Tobio was being considered one of the young gems that Team Japan would add to its roster in the next Olympics, and although that meant competition for him as a setter, Atsumu could admit that Tobio-kun was a player worth the hype he received.Still, Atsumu had never truly considered how all the expectations placed on him would inevitably affect his personal life — especially when it comes to his partner.Shoyo was never one to feel jealous of other people’s success, so he doubted this was particularly a problem between them: they two seemed to share a fierce rivalry, but said rivalry was often seen as motivation for both of them to get better, not as some sort of “high horse” they would hold against each other. That’s why the two of them worked so well together, or so Atsumu assumed. After all, there was no better drive for him than the idea of having a partner who shares the same level of passion as you for something, and that was precisely the reason that drove him to Hinata Shoyo in the first place.“I guess Tobio-kun has been too busy for ya lately, huh?” Atsumu teased him before he could give it a second thought. “What a shame!”“Well, he’s taking on a lot of responsibilities this year,” Shoyo retorted, and his explanation seemed to be something he had told himself at least a couple of times before. “That’s to be expected, right?”It was to be expected: after all, those who aimed to become professional athletes understood that a career like that came with a lot of sacrifices.Still, Atsumu saw that as an opportunity, so he took it.“Nah,” Atsumu texted him back. “I mean, my schedule is also pretty packed, but if you were my boyfriend, Sho-kun, I’d always find time for ya!”Truth be told, Atsumu would find time to indulge Shoyo even if he wasn’t his boyfriend; he was already doing so as his friend, after all. So, the idea of having Shoyo’s burning affections all for himself and wasting it seemed almost sinful in his eyes.Shoyo took a while to answer him after that.As he cooked dinner for himself, Atsumu couldn’t help but wonder if he had finally flown too close to the sun this time: after so many months carefully concealing his true feelings under the guise of a growing friendship, maybe this time he had finally run his mouth and ruined the nice thing the two of them had going on.And then, a few hours later, his phone finally vibrated with another message. Atsumu, who was getting ready to go to bed early that night so he would feel well-rested during his morning practice, saw the notification popping up and immediately grabbed his phone.“You’re not just saying that, are you, Atsumu-san?”Atsumu tsked out loud before answering: “I told ya before, didn’t I? I don’t go around saying things I don’t mean.”If anything, sometimes his words didn’t do his feelings enough justice, seeming too tame in comparison to the burning passion inside his heart. As Osamu had pointed out in the past, Atsumu was never one to do things by the halves: if he cared for someone, he cared deeply, and if he desired them, that desire was enough to set his whole life ablaze.Shoyo might not understand the extent of how much Atsumu desired him as of late, but it wouldn’t be a stretch to say there was little Atsumu wouldn’t do for the opportunity to show Shoyo a taste of his devotion.Said opportunity presented itself on a silver plate in front of him a moment later when Shoyo replied: “Would you be willing to give me a taste, Atsumu-san?”“Come to Osaka next weekend, Sho-kun,” Atsumu replied without hesitation, even if his fingers were shaking in anticipation as he typed, “let me show ya just how much I mean it.”—As he waited for Shoyo at the train station, Atsumu thought back to the conversation he had with his brother as the two of them started texting.Atsumu tried to reassure him that this thing between him and Shoyo was nothing but two friends texting, but Osamu didn’t seem convinced back then — which was, perhaps, a testament to just how much Atsumu himself believed his own words, since Osamu seemed to read his expressions better than himself.Atsumu spent months trying to fool himself that being friends with Hinata Shoyo would be enough, but Osamu knew that was doomed from the start.“Damn ‘Samu and his perceptive nature, really,” Atsumu thought to himself, and he would be more annoyed about the whole thing if he wasn’t using all his brainpower to nervously scan the crowd in search of Hinata Shoyo’s bright hair.Atsumu knew this was a risk: the two of them were about to cross a line they wouldn’t be able to come back from, and that was both exciting and terrifying, especially since, to his understanding, Shoyo was still very much in love with Tobio.“It probably doesn’t mean anything to him,” he pondered to himself, “Shoyo-kun has needs, and since Tobio-kun is too busy to meet them, he’s looking for release elsewhere. That’s all there is to it.”Still, the competitive daredevil living inside of Atsumu’s brain was still itching to make the most of this opportunity: he wanted to show Shoyo all that he was missing, all that he could have if he gave him a try.It was immoral, and also, rather petty. He knew as much.Still, when it comes to Hinata Shoyo, how could Atsumu refuse to meet him halfway? He never claimed to be god’s strongest soldier, after all.The plan was to meet Shoyo at the train station, then stop to grab takeout before going back to his place: a small flat located close to the MSBY Black Jackal’s training centre — a place perfect for a young player living by himself for the first time in his life. That particular plan went south when Shoyo suggested instead, his lips curling: “Why don’t we go to your place first?”“Aren’t ya hungry, Sho-kun?” Atsumu raised an eyebrow.“Not particularly,” Shoyo said, before leaning closer and standing on his tiptoes in order to whisper in Atsumu’s ear: “Besides, I can think of better ways of spending my time with you.”Shoyo was bold and never hesitated in getting what he wanted.Atsumu knew as much, of course; that was one of the reasons he was drawn to him in the first place.Still, that knowledge did little to prepare him for the real thing: having Shoyo looking at him with hungry eyes, ready to devour him like a meal, was inebriating.“Tobio-kun has to be a monster in his own right,” Atsumu thought to himself as the two of them made their way to the parking lot, “that’d explain why Shoyo-kun still hasn’t gotten him completely wrapped up around his finger. A lesser man would be completely undone by that hungry stare alone.”Thankfully for him, Atsumu was no lesser man either: if Tobio-kun was able to face Shoyo’s hunger through inhuman levels of self-control, Atsumu was ready to meet such passion with a hunger of his own.Once they got to Atsumu’s place, all he managed to utter was a quick: “Here we are! Please, make yourself at home” before Shoyo’s lips were on his, a firm press that he was quick to reciprocate in kind.Atsumu pressed Shoyo against the entrance door, tongue pushing its way into his mouth as if determined to devour him.“No time to waste, hm?” Atsumu managed to whisper once they broke the kiss for air.“You said you’d take care of me, didn’t you?” Shoyo grinned at him, and Atsumu swore his flustered face was something worthy of being framed and hung in a museum.Needless to say, having sex with him with no string attached was setting out to be one of the most dangerous things Atsumu has done, yet he would rather get to experience it and mend his broken heart later down the line than missing out on the chance of having Hinata Shoyo squirming under him at least once in his life.“Is that what ya want?” Atsumu retorted with a smirk.“That’s why I’m here,” Shoyo hummed in agreement, pulling Atsumu down by the collar so he could get a better look at his face. “There’s something about you, Atsumu-san… ever since we first saw each other, I couldn’t tear my eyes away.”“Yer playing a cruel game right now, Sho-kun,” Atsumu whined, his voice sounding rough with want even though all they had done so far was to share a heated kiss. “Ya have no idea how long I’ve craved for a chance to get ya in my bed.”Atsumu started trailing kisses down Shoyo’s neck, marvelling at the sounds that would leave his lips in response to even the smallest touches. As Atsumu’s hands started tugging at the hem of Shoyo’s t-shirt, he couldn’t help but wonder out loud: “Is this the first time yer doing something like that, Shoyo-kun?”“It isn’t,” Shoyo replied as he removed his own shirt, “although it has been a while since the last time…”He paused at that, eyes seemingly unfocused for a minute, as if his mind suddenly went elsewhere. Then, a moment later, he was back to normal, although the smile that graced his features seemed to not reach his eyes. “Things have been hectic, so there was never enough time.”There was a hint of resentment in his voice, and Atsumu hated it.“Meaning, someone never made time for it,” He guessed, not bothering to hide his own bitterness this time.“We all make choices, right?” Shoyo let out a strained laughter as Atsumu started pressing kisses down his collarbone, “maybe I’ll come to regret mine, but that’s better than hanging around in a perpetual waiting mode.”“His loss,” he mouthed against Shoyo’s skin, and the feeling was enough to make Shoyo let out another groan. Atsumu wanted to say Tobio was a fool: that regardless of what his priorities in life were, only a fool would have Hinata Shoyo all for himself and still leave him feeling unsatisfied for so long.He wanted to say it, but decided not to. It was better to bite his tongue and focus on the man in front of him instead.“Let me make ya feel good,” he pleaded as his hands trailed across Shoyo’s bare chest. Atsumu could feel how those words were enough to make Shoyo squirm under his touch, as if desperately trying to keep his emotions under control.Even if he hadn’t just admitted to being pent-up, the way his body arched under Atsumu’s touches would make that enough clear.“’m under your care, Atsumu-san,” Shoyo breathed out, fingers carefully working on unclasping Atsumu’s trousers. “Just don’t keep me waiting, okay?”As soon as those words left his mouth, Shoyo found himself being carried over towards the bedroom, bridal style.“Ah!” he gasped in surprise. “I didn’t mean it literally, Atsumu-san!”“Well, ya know me, Shoyo,” Atsumu deliberately dropped the honorific, hoping Shoyo would take the hint and follow suit, “I just don’t do things by the halves.”“You don’t,” As soon as Atsumu laid him down on his bed, Shoyo cradled his face with his hand and pressed another kiss to his lips, this time a lot rougher than the last, as a wave of desire washed over them both.Atsumu made quick work of his own clothes, hastily tossing each piece to the ground until he was standing there wearing nothing but his underwear. Then, he shifted his attention back to Shoyo, who watched his movements with the eyes of a predator. At this moment, it felt easy to forget that the sex probably didn’t mean the same to him as it meant to Atsumu; if he closed his eyes and thought about the hungry look in Shoyo’s eyes, it was easy to pretend he desired Atsumu just as deeply.Shoyo felt the mattress under him dip as Atsumu joined him onto the bed, his agile fingers unclasping his trousers with ease. “Yer still wearing yer trousers,” he commented, “we can’t have that.”To his surprise, Shoyo was wearing nothing underneath it — so, as soon as the buttons of his trousers were undone, Shoyo’s dick sprang free from its confines.Atsumu couldn’t fight the grin that spread across his face upon the sight in front of him, hands immediately reaching out to touch the length in front of him. “No underwear, hm? I guess someone was really pent-up,” he teased, licking his lips as he scooted closer to him on the bed.Shoyo averted his eyes for a moment, as if trying to regain his composure. “Don’t tease,” he huffed.“Shoyo looks awfully cute when he’s embarrassed,” Atsumu thought, only to be caught by surprise a moment later when Shoyo stared back at him as if ready to eat him alive.“Why don’t you put that mouth of yours to good use?”He didn’t have to say it twice.Atsumu gave Shoyo’s member a few tentative strokes, as if trying to commit it to memory, just in case he never got another chance to see it in person. Then, he wasted no time in wrapping his mouth around it in one go, relaxing his throat to properly accommodate it.The strained sound that left Shoyo’s mouth in response went directly to Atsumu’s dick.“You…” Shoyo breathed out as Atsumu started bobbing his head around his cock at a fast pace. “Honestly, there’s no going slow with you, hm?”Atsumu simply hummed in response, the vibration around his member enough to force a strained moan out of Shoyo’s lips.“Look at you, mouth wrapped around my cock like the needy little bitch you are,” Shoyo mutters, fingers cradling through Atsumu’s hair. “I wonder how many times you dreamt about having me come undone in your mouth like this.”If Atsumu’s mouth wasn’t full, he could tell Shoyo all about it: about the several times in which his thoughts drifted back to Hinata Shoyo after a long day of training. He would picture what it would be like to have ravish him right there in the locker room, the smell of his sweat getting mixed with Atsumu’s own, their dicks rubbing against each other through the fabric of their shorts. He would then picture himself pulling Shoyo’s shorts down and doing exactly that: pressing his face against Shoyo’s thigh, taking in his musky scent before giving his member some attention, licking its tip a few times before taking it fully into his mouth, as if it was a meal worth savouring slowly.Fantasies like these would always invade Atsumu’s thoughts in the least opportune times, leaving his mind clouded and his dick painfully hard. And Shoyo had no idea of any of that; he had no idea of the true extent of Atsumu’s obsession for him, the true power he held over him.“Looking so pretty like that, but so quiet,” Shoyo whined, desire laced in his voice. “A shame. Miss your voice, ah—”Shoyo felt the air being punched out of him as Atsumu started moving at a faster pace, taking his dick so deep into his throat that his nose started lightly pressing against his pubes.“So good to me, ‘Tsumu,” the nickname escaped Shoyo’s lips before he could stop himself from uttering it. He knew only Osamu called Atsumu like that, but it was perhaps the fondness associated with the name that brought it to his lips in the first place — and that was worth it, considering the needy moan that left Atsumu’s dick upon hearing it.Atsumu could tell Shoyo was getting dangerously close to the edge: every time Atsumu bobbed his head around his member, Shoyo seemed to grow increasingly less talkative, as if trying to keep himself under control was becoming increasingly hard.Sure enough, a moment later, Shoyo gasped: “’m so close, ‘Tsumu, please…”That nickname would be the death of him, really.“Stop, please,” Shoyo pleaded, fingernails scratching Atsumu’s scalp. “Please, I— Ah! Atsumu, I need you inside of me.”Scratch that: hearing Shoyo beg for his dick like that would be the death of him instead.Atsumu stopped at once, letting go of Shoyo’s dick in favour of looking for something in the drawer next to his bed.“What are you doing?” Shoyo groaned in frustration.“Lube,” he replied, his voice rough.“Screw that,” Shoyo cursed. “I need you in me right now, please.”It would be so easy to give in: to follow him back to the bed and fuck him raw, to hear him scream his name as he came on his dick, and yet… Atsumu couldn’t bring himself to do it like that. Not if there was a chance Shoyo might not enjoy it as much as he did.Not if there was a chance the pain would afterwards taint his memories of that night.Atsumu was so obsessed with Shoyo that he felt the urge to give him a good time, something Shoyo would regret missing out on for the rest of his life.It was childish of him to want to make such an impression on someone that surely was just using him to fill in the gaps left by his partner, yet Atsumu couldn’t care less: he was way past the point of caring. At that moment, all he wanted was to leave a mark on Hinata Shoyo’s mind, something that made it impossible for him to think about sex without thinking fondly of that day later down the line. So, instead of letting himself be pulled back to bed at once, Atsumu replied: “No can do,” and then added: “It’ll be just a moment.”Shoyo seemed ready to argue, but as he saw the determination in Atsumu’s eyes, he simply sighed and made himself comfortable on his back. “Don’t take too long.”After grabbing the bottle of lube, Atsumu got to work: he coated three of his fingers with the cold substance before pressing them against Shoyo’s entrance one at a time, giving him time to adjust before he started moving, fingers curling as he searched for that sweet spot inside of him.His motions were too slow, enough to bring a string of curses to Shoyo’s lips. And yet, Atsumu kept going, savouring the scene in front of him as much as he could. After all, that was what he always wanted: to watch Shoyo turn into putty under him, growing more desperate by the second.“Such a pretty doll,” Atsumu muttered, enjoying being able to praise Shoyo back, “so eager for my cock ya wanted to skip prepping altogether, hm? I bet yer boyfriend has no idea how much of a slut ya can be.”Shoyo let out a pained groan at the mention of his boyfriend. Atsumu wasn’t sure if bringing him up would be a sore spot for Shoyo, but at that point, he was way past caring: if Tobio-kun had the chance to see Shoyo like that whenever he wanted and let it go to waste, then screw him, really.“Atsumu,” Shoyo gasped, his mind unable to form coherent sentences as Atsumu started pumping in and out of him at a rough pace.Once the gates were open, the words kept flowing out of Atsumu’s lips.“Does Tobio-kun take his sweet time with ya like this, Shoyo? Does he make ya feel this good?”Shoyo closed his eyes shut, focusing on the relentless sensation, the way Atsumu’s fingers would hit his prostate and leave him seeing stars — that was easier than focusing on his words, being reminded of what he was doing, the lengths he was willing to go to satisfy his own needs. He thought back to the conversation he shared with Atsumu months ago, on the day they first exchanged numbers: there was a certain tension in the air, like they were both dancing around each other, trying to get the other to break. That day, Shoyo had told Atsumu he was the type of person who would never be satisfied, and Atsumu promptly pointed out that Shoyo was the same.Maybe that was what first pulled Shoyo in: the notion of finding someone else in the world capable of matching your hunger in kind. And, as the two of them grew closer in the following months, he couldn’t help but wonder if Atsumu would be willing to show him how far his hunger would go.“‘Tsum, please,” Shoyo breathed out, tears pooling under his eyes. “‘s too much. I need you inside of me, please.”And really, how could Atsumu deny him?“Alright,” Atsumu gasped, pausing his ministrations so he could coat his own erection with lube. “Alright, Shoyo-kun. Whatever ya need.”Whatever he needed, whenever he needed, and for as long as he needed: he could have Atsumu in any way he desired, if he kept looking at him with tears in his eyes, begging for him to fuck him.At that moment, Shoyo looked like the forbidden fruit, hanging low from the tree, begging for Atsumu to take a bite — and the truth remained that he was far from god’s strongest soldier.“I just need you,” Shoyo moaned, and Atsumu felt the last remains of his self-control crumble. Grabbing Shoyo closer by the thighs, he lined himself up to his entrance, getting ready to push in.For a moment, Atsumu consider bottoming it out in one go, wondering what sort of lewd sounds would escape Shoyo’s lips all at once, but ultimately decides against it: he wanted to savour the experience of fucking Hinata Shoyo to the fullest, and if the way his flushed cock was leaking with precome was any indication, Atsumu suspected that he wouldn’t last very long if he were to be hasty right now.“Stay put,” he said sternly once he noticed Shoyo trying to turn around to lay on his back, “I wanna see yer face while I fuck onto ya.”And with that, Atsumu pressed the tip of his cock against Shoyo’s entrance, taking his sweet time and breaching onto him slowly. The drag was slow, overwhelmingly so. Shoyo’s mouth hung open, a gasp seemingly stuck in his throat as Atsumu’s member filled him up inch by inch, and it took all of his self-control not fuck onto him immediately, not giving him any time to adjust.Atsumu felt warm all over his body, like his blood was boiling and the only way to sate the heat was to start moving. He managed to ask, “Good?”To which Shoyo replied, his patience wearing thin: “Please, move.”And so Atsumu did.Grabbing Shoyo by the hips, he starts fucking into him with confident motions, aiming to hit the bundle of nerves that got Shoyo seeing stars. Atsumu had a few partners before his chance with Shoyo finally arrived, but no one made him feel all hot and bothered like Shoyo before, nor did they feel so tight around him.“Fuck, Shoyo, yer so tight,” he said hoarsely, feeling like every movement he made was enough to set fireworks inside his brain, “so tight around me, like yer made for my cock.”Shoyo could only gasp in response, way past trying to verbalize what he felt. Atsumu took upon himself to speak for the two of them.“Thought nothing could beat the faces ya were making for me earlier, but I was wrong,” Atsumu pushed even deeper, pleasure shooting through his body as he felt himself finally bottoming out onto Shoyo, “nothing can beat yer face now, looking absolutely debauched under me.” Instead of replying, Shoyo wrapped his arms around Atsumu’s neck and pulled him for a kiss, mouth slightly opening so Atsumu could explore it. As the pace picked up, Shoyo started moaning against Atsumu’s lips, and he could swear that there was no better sensation than being able to feel Shoyo’s lew sounds against his skin.Atsumu could feel Shoyo’s inner walls squeezing tighter against him, testament to how close to release both of them were getting, no matter how much he would like to find ways of dragging that on for longer forever pushing in and out of Shoyo.Like clockwork, Shoyo gasped against his lips: “’m so close, ‘Tsum.”“’m also close,” Atsumu muttered, pressing heated kisses against Shoyo’s neck. Part of him considered leaving hickeys, wanting to mark him where everyone else could see it, but the remains of his rationality decided against it: Shoyo had a partner waiting for him in Miyagi, and probably wouldn’t appreciate being covered in marks.Which was a shame, really; if it were up to Atsumu, he would make sure to mark Shoyo in such a way every stranger that crosses paths with him would know that he was his.Sadly, he really wasn’t. Life could be so unfair sometimes.Instead of dwelling any further on those bittersweet feelings, Atsumu opted to say instead: “C’mon, let’s do it together... I wanna see yer face when you get there.”He picked up the pace, hands pressing more firmly around Shoyo’s waist, while his mouth kept pressing kisses down his neck.It didn’t take them much longer after that. Shoyo’s orgasm shot through him first, his legs shaking, and as his inner walls clamped around Atsumu’s member, he also reached his edge, coating Shoyo’s inside with his cum.For a few minutes after that, it seemed like nothing else existed besides the two of them: no distance, no partners waiting at home, no obstacles. Reality would hit them soon enough, and there was a good enough chance that post-nut clarity would eventually hit Shoyo like a truck, making him regret cheating on his boyfriend.Still, for the time being, Atsumu focused on the feeling of Shoyo’s skin against him, as well as the sounds of their laboured breaths echoing across the small room of his apartment.Part of him wanted to commit those feelings to memory, too. He wanted to remember just how amazing it felt to slowly come down from his orgasm with Shoyo laying by his side, wishing they could do that every day.Later that day, Atsumu would get Shoyo cleaned up and then cook for the two of them: the dish he would make would be nothing fancy, since Shoyo had said no to grabbing takeout earlier and, unlike his brother, Atsumu didn’t have a stocked kitchen at all times. Regardless, the food would be warm and comforting, and Shoyo would appreciate his attempt at cooking nevertheless. He’d even share stories about some of the crazy dishes he would attempt to make for his sister whenever his mother had to work until late, and Atsumu’s heart would clench at the domesticity of it all, knowing that by the end of that weekend, Shoyo would go back to his boyfriend’s arms. But all of that would come later. At that moment, Atsumu had Shoyo in his arms, and that was enough. It would have to be enough.
