Seeking Attention

"Daddy."

"Daddy."

"Daddy.." Gerard huffs, sat up on his caregiver's chest with a huge pout on his face. Frank is dead weight when he's sleeping, his body solid and pliant and he wakes up at nothing! Gerard wanted attention, and he wanted it now. He wasn't a brat. He was getting there, but he was never a bad boy. He just wanted attention sometimes. And that sometimes happened
to be now , when his daddy was oblivious in his sleep world.
Gerard crossed his arms, sulking and hunching back in a pouty way. He looked around him, thinking of what to do.

First, he tries curling back up with Frank, burying himself against Frank's black, warm hoodie. When that failed- he was too awake to go back to sleep- he sat up again, pouting and scooting on his knees to sprawl himself over Frank's stomach.

He stays there for a while, not sleeping, instead just feeling Frank's deep, even breaths. It was comforting, but Frank still wasn't paying attention to him. He HATED it. Why wouldn't Frank just wake up already?!

"Hmph." Gerard huffed again, going back to his original position: sitting on Frank's chest. He was careful not to restrict his ribs, holding himself up with his knees but still some of his weight going on Frank's body. "Daddy, can you wake up please?"

He tried to ask sweetly, but he was impatient. He was resisting shaking the crap out of Frank, that would get him up quickly. But then Frank would spank him, and he didn't like that. Plus, no one likes being shaken awake. That's just cruel, and Gerard was a good boy.

He was a very needy good boy, at that. A very needy good boy that wanted even a lick of attention, maybe just a sleepy hand to thread through his hair. Or maybe Frank would turn over, knocking Gee off of him, just to spoon him right after. Or maybe, Frank could open his eyes and smile sleepily. Gosh, Gerard could settle for the

smallest

movement.

Feeling at a loss, Gerard frowns deeply in thought. What would Frank do if Gee was asleep? Oh, yes, Frankie would kiss his cheeks. He would rub his tummy until he woke up and he would give Gee some fresh milk and be all smiles and cuddle Gee until he was fully awake.

Gerard wasn't going to do all of that. He could settle for the kisses.

He leaned down, giddily wiggling as he smiled, peppering his lips all over Frank's face in tiny kisses. His scruff tickled his lips and his cheeks, but he liked it. It was soft and comforting. After a while of this, all Frank did was

twitch

. He wriggled his nose, and Gerard could tell by his breath that he was

still

asleep!

Gerard sighed. Well, when all else fails-

"HELP!"

Frank shot up, knocking Gerard off his chest and sending him tumbling back onto his legs, arms flailing to catch himself.

They looked at each other with wide eyes, Frank's heart beating so fast he swore he would have a heart attack. He looked over Gerard's guilty, surprised expression, and let out a heavy huff as he rolled his eyes and laid back down with an "uff!".

"Daddy, I sorry, I want attention." Gerard said sweetly, crawling on his knees to sit, again, on Frank's chest.

"Geebear, we only scream when we're hurt or scared, okay?" Frank said sternly, his voice thick and rough with sleep. "Do you understand that, honey?"

"Y-Yes, Daddy, b-but you wouldn't wake up and I want attention." Gerard repeated cluelessly, hands settled on Frank's hoodie. He pulled at the fabric, and seriously, how could Frank be mad at a little boy who was practically kneading him like a kitten?

He sighed, lifting a hand to push the boy's soft black hair out of his face, running his thumb along his chubby cheek.

Gerard smiled, all toothy and happy, and Frank felt his heart swell at the fact he had scolded such a sweet boy who only wanted a graze of his interest.

Frank, though still sleepy, sat up more gently this time, letting Gerard slide the short distance to his lap. Gerard was beaming, still gripping Frank's hoodie and looking at him expectantly.

Frank, knowing what he wanted, giggled sleepily and gently kissed both his cheeks, moving his hand down to rub his tummy. Gerard practically mewled, leaning closer to Frank.

"Yeah, that's a good boy." Frank smiled, kissing his head. "Tummy rubs are your favorite, huh, sweetheart?"

Gerard nodded against his shoulder, looking up at Frank with wide, sleepy eyes.

"How about this, baby," Frank said softly, licking his sleep-dry lips as he thought. "How about Daddy rubs your little tummy until you fall back asleep so we can rest a little while longer, and then Geebear can have all of my attention when we get up later? Huh? Does that sound alright?"

Gerard nodded, Frank's hoodie fabric sliding with his cheek. Gerard's eyes were already drooping, satisfied from the touch of Frank's soothing hand. "'M so sleepy, daddy.."

"I know baby, why don't you lay down?" Frank offered softly, already leading Gerard to lay next to him so he had a good angle at his tummy. "Feel so much better when you get some more sleep, angel."

Gerard mumbled out an agreement, not able to resist Frank's wonderful belly rubs.

The best in town

, he thought sleepily.

"P'omise..." Gerard murmured, blearily looking up at his daddy who looked at him curiously. "Promise you stay here until I'm asleep..."

Frank smiled, kissing his baby's pale cheek. "I promise, honey." He whispered.

Gerard's eyes slowly fluttered closed, and Frank, keeping his promise, rubbed his tummy until he heard and felt Gerard's breathing even out. Even a little bit after, too, for good measure, until he also passed out, snuggling up to his little boy.
