i didnt know i liked boys, until i realized i did. it was all just a blur. a thought, an omen. lee heeseung, the most popular guy at centreville high school. a basketball champion, a heartthrob, a sweetheart, everything a girl wants in a man.every girl wants him, he even dated a few toobut, sunoo knew that he would never have a chancehe was a boy after all and heeseung is straight. sunoo's dear friend, best friend, yang jungwon always kept his secret. they've been friends for so long, longer than how many fingers you can count.though they've had a few ups and downs, reconnected again in middle school, and both have been inseparable since.them being next door neighbors made it easier to hangout as well today, is the first day of senior year. finally, sunoo thought.though the immense stress of school, assignments and exams will definitely take over his brain -he didn't care, that was for the future. just enjoy the last first day of school, forever. "can't believe we're in our senior year, already." jungwon said in almost disbelief, breaking sunoo from his thoughts "your so right, won. let's make this year worth it!!" he replied with slight enthusiasm "by going to parties?" jungwon wiggled his eyebrows, hoping to at least go to one in his whole high school life, along with his best friend "should we?" "it'll be something new! a nice change! instead of watching dramas all day, and studying all day " jungwon sarcastically remarked what they do "cut it." sunoo narrowed his eyes, pouting as jungwon teased him jungwon laughed and ruffled his blond luscious locks. something he did a lot after teasing sunoo.sunoo huffed annoyed but didn't try to hold back a small smile as jungwon did so. sunoo glanced up, noticing his crush-- heeseung walking with a few friends, consisting of a few girls and his basketball friendsjungwon followed sunoo's gaze towards heeseung "ah! sunoo-yaaa" jungwon teased"shut up!!" sunoo pouted as he blushed a bit, hitting jungwon in the armjungwon's laugh being contagious made sunoo laugh as well, continuing to walk towards the entrance of their school "when will you ever confess?" asked jungwon "you know that it's very likely he won't like me back" sunoo rolled his eyes "right, don't wanna embarrass yourself!" he raised his hands in mock surrendersunoo rolled his eyes at the younger everyday, jungwon and sunoo walk together to schoolit was like a routine they followed, without forgetting all the timesunoo's parents were doctors, surgeons to be exact.they were barely there for him, only providing shelter, food, school and occasionally gifting sunoo with things he wantedwhen sunoo was too young to stay home alone, jungwon's mother, bo-ra always stepped up to babysit him and treated sunoo like her own sonsunoo saw bo-ra as his very own mother, calling her mom with no hesitation
"sunoo-ya, come down! we have to drop you off at auntie bo-ra's house!" sunoo's mother, im-sol called out. patiently waiting for her son at the door
"mama wait!" sunoo rushed down the stairs, not caring if he missed a step
saying goodbye to mom and dad was serious business, cause he never knew when they would come back, only knowing it was going to be very late
"ready, sun?"
"yeah- but when are you and papa going to come back?" his puppy eyes glimmering while looking up to his mother, silently pleaded his mother not to leave
"i'm sorry sun, it'll be late. just have dinner with auntie bo-ra, okay?" she requested
"but.. where's pa?"
"he went early, hun"
"o-kay then." the eight year-old huffed in defeat, knowing that his mother will still leave anyway
they walked down the front porch, his mother locked the door on her way out and went down the steps
sunoo was grateful jungwon only lived next door. before he even knew him, his parents always asked to play with the boy next door, calling him "boy" as they didn't know his name, yet
thanks to that, he met his best friend!
as he skipped down the sidewalk, he saw jungwon peeking out the window, hiding behind the curtains
sunoo's mood lifted and he eagerly ran up the porch stairs and knocked on the door
"oh hey sun!" bo-ra greeted
"hi ma!" he tilted his head to the side, grinning as he saw jungwon hide behind his mother
"come in sunoo!" she gestured for him to come in, moving a bit to the side to give space
"wonnie!!" sunoo called out
"sunnie!!" jungwon returned the call
he turned around, saying goodbye to his mother and proceeded to run up the stairs along with jungwon to his room
"i'm sorry bo-ra, it's really unpredictable nowadays as i took the full time. i really hope you don't mind, as it might be something to get used to." im-sol said, chuckling a bit at the end
"ah! no worries im-sol, i seriously don't have a problem with taking care of sunoo. he's like a second son to me."
"thank you again, i have to hurry but i'll pick him up right after!" im-sol walked down the steps, and towards her drive way with her car waiting for her
"no problem!" bo-ra called out
"it sucks how they give our schedule on the day school starts!" sunoo scoffed, annoyed "it really does, i'm just happy i got the classes i wanted this semester!" "oh- hey! me too!" sunoo took a look at his schedule on his phone "we even share some!" looking at jungwon, smiling widelysunoo smiled back, his smile just as wide "look at these losers!" liz walked up in front of the two both sunoo and jungwon looked up at her "ouukay, liz. your a loser yourself!" sunoo scoffed, smiling "isn't that why i hang out with you guys?" liz dramatically put a hand on her chest "are you mocking me?!" sunoo gaspedthey all broke into laughter, the interaction warming their hearts liz, was a great friend to sunoo and jungwon. though shedidn't really hangout with the two as much as before, they still maintained their friendship. all three of them continued to walk inside of the school, hanging out at the lockers before heading to their respective classes.today, sunoo had math for the first period. "great, just great. starting off with math." he mumbled to himself as he entered the classroom, half full with chatter among the students discussing about what they did this summer.before finding his seat, he told the teacher he was here for attendance, as their school thought it would be more practical to do attendance while entering the classroomunfortunately for sunoo, he didn't have any friends in this class, so he just sat at a random desk around the middle row of the class, right next to the windowwhile waiting for the teacher to start the lesson, he noticed heeseung walking in "just in time" he thought"i hope he sits next to me, i hope he sits next to me!!" he prayed in his head, the only spot left was the seat next to sunoo, so heeseung had no choice but to sit next to himheeseung's head was turned slightly towards sunoo and he waved to be politefor a moment, sunoo and heeseung held eye contact as well, sunoo also did a small wave backhis heart was doing backflips and the butterflies in his stomach fluttered endlesslythe way the sun shined on heeseung's face, his brown eyes glimmering, his lips formed into a slight up curve-"okay stop!" he thought and looked away, breaking the eye contacthe had to stop himself from blushing and had to stay composed "all right class, before we start off the new semester with a lesson - i want you all to introduce yourselves. starting off with..." "there's no need to introduce ourselves if you know our names already." sunoo thought, a bit annoyed the teacher pointed to the first desk in the first row, far to the left. her finger pointed at karina who stood up with no hesitation.karina is probably the most popular girl at school. a mix of sweet and sour, you could say. she's nice at first, until you do something that pisses her off. the next day, you could probably end up miserable with rumors and gossip flying over school about you.thankfully, sunoo never got himself into that kind of trouble and was always nice to her.she's also academically good at school, earning her spot on the cheer team and being the teacher's favorite.. in many ways. "i'm karina, as you may already know." she started to speak, placing a hand on her chest with a friendly smile while turning her body to face the other students. "i hope you all had a great summer, because i did" she chuckled sunoo glanced at heeseung, his face having a small smile at her,he observed karina, who was mostly looking at heeseung but also looking at the students well... karina and heeseung dated for a while in junior year. they were probably the biggest couple at school. due to some things, they took a "break" but they definitely do more stuff than just friends as what they considered themselves as "anyways, i'm cheer captain on the cheer team and i really hope to cheer you guys up this year!" she slightly widened her smile, and sat back down. "what a pun" sunoo thought, he mentally rolled his eyes and moved his gaze towards the teacherher best friend minjeong went afterwards and the next students followed up.it was finally sunoo's turn. though he's extroverted towards he friends, he's an introvert to others.he took a deep breath and slowly stood up. "hi, i'm kim sunoo. i hope we all do well this year." he forced a small smile and nervously concludedhis teacher opened her mouth, before closing it and giving a nod with a small smile.she probably wanted him to say more, but he slowly sat back down.he noticed all the stares towards him, trying to ignore them he took a small deep breath before gaining his composure againthen, heeseung stood up. "hey everyone, i'm heeseung." he smirked and put his hands in his pockets."still basketball captain" he paused, unsure of what to say"well.. i hope we have a good year." he smiled and sat back down as other students continued during class, he occasionally snuck a few glasses at heeseung from the corner of his eyesunoo, being bold he even scooted his chair a centimeter closer to himbut, heeseung was oblivious to all of this nonsense.sunoo noticing that, gave up and just decided it was best for him to focus on the lesson the period went by quickly, and he grabbed his belongings and headed out the door to his next class.soon enough, lunch rolled around the corner and he finally went to the cafeteria.he took his tray of food, and scanned across the room for jungwon and liz.once he spotted them, he made his way over and slid next to jungwon on the bench "hey guys!" sunoo greeted "how was math?" jungwon said in disgust "it was alright.. but i do have to tell you guys something!" sunoo beamed, leaning closer towards jungwon and liz "ooh-ooh what is it?" liz curiously asked, matching the same enthusiasm "okay well- heeseung sat next to me!!" sunoo quietly squealed, his whisker dimples displaying on his face. jungwon always thought sunoo's whisker dimples were cute, and complimented many times about it. "oh. my. god!!" jungwon saidall three of them squealed quietly, what losers. "and- and- he even smiled and waved at me!!!" sunoo blushed a bit "that is SO SO cute!!!!" liz flickered her fingers over sunoo's "right?!" sunoo agreed those three ended up just talking about how the first half of their classes went.the lunch bell rang, interrupting jungwon as he complained about one of his teachers jungwon huffed, "what classes do you guys have next?" "oh, i have math" liz replied "english" sunoo replied as well jungwon smiled a bit "at least i have english as well!!" "good luck in math, liz!" sunoo said as he got up, placing his tray in the dirty pile on the counter "thanks sunoo!" she said as she made her way out of the cafeteria, using the doors on the far end "it's so sunny out." the sun beamed over jungwon's face, squinting his eyes due to the brightness "they really need to install some curtains. i'm dying over here!!" sunoo frownedthey laughed and continued talking, waiting for the teacher to walk in.as sunoo looked around the classroom, right next to his and jungwon's desk, he noticed heeseung sitting with his friend park sunghoon.they've been childhood friends and are in the basketball team.currently, sunghoon is dating wonyoung. unfortunately, their relationship is going downhill. apparently, sunghoon had cheated on wonyoung with another girl. some kid saw them talking and being really close. sunghoon denied it, saying they were just "friends" but wonyoung didn't let it go easily. while admiring his crush, jungwon waved a hand over his face.snapping his fingers to get the latter's attention. "hello-o-o!! earth to sunoo?" continuing to snap his fingers to get his friend's attentionsunoo shook his head and turned his head back to jungwon. "sorry for interrupting" jungwon winked as he nudged his elbow. "oh- argh." sunoo groaned and pouted. everyone fell silent as they saw the teacher entering the classroom.a frantic expression on her face. as she shut the door, "okay class, we're going into lockdown."
