Sousuke rolled his eyes. “Do you ever run out of energy?” “Never! Come on, let’s play!” Makoto smiled, already helping Haru lay out towels for everyone. “Well, it does sound fun. I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Ikuya crouched down beside him, eyeing the lopsided structure. “It’s a disaster.” “This is high-quality sand architecture” Asahi argued. Ikuya didn’t even try to hide his laugh. “It’s a disaster waiting to happen.” Asahi pouted, nudging the sand with his hand. “It’s a work of art. You just don’t get it.” Ikuya glanced at him, his expression softening despite his teasing. “You really think so?” Asahi’s grin returned, a little too proud for the lopsided creation he’d made. “Of course I do! That was a tough one to block.” On the other side of the court, Sousuke smirked, leaning against the net. “Looks like teamwork isn’t your thing, Rin.” Nagisa grinned, pointing at Sousuke. “I told you we’d crush them, didn’t I?” Rin rolled his eyes, glaring across the net. “You’re just lucky Makoto’s too nice to spike it in your face.” From their spot in the sand, Asahi groaned dramatically, throwing his head back. “Can you guys keep it down? Some of us are trying to have a romantic moment over here!” Rin turned, narrowing his eyes at Asahi. “Romantic? Rin spun around, pointing at him. “You don’t even care about this game! Why are you talking?” Haru shrugged, unbothered. “Because it’s true.” Nagisa leaned on the net, laughing. “He’s not wrong, Rin-chan.” Rin growled under his breath, stepping back to serve. “You’re all the worst. Watch this!” He threw the ball up and hit it with full force only for it to land way out of bounds, rolling to Haru’s feet. Haru stared at the ball, then slowly looked up at Rin. “Was that supposed to be impressive?” Nagisa collapsed in laughter, clutching his stomach. “Nice one, Rin-chan! You’ve got great aim—for missing!” Sousuke laughed, giving Nagisa a high five. “Looks like we’re unstoppable.” Rin’s face turned bright red as he marched over to Haru. “Give me the ball!” Haru, unimpressed, casually tossed it back. “Try aiming next time.” Even Ikuya chuckled at that, prompting Asahi to stare at him. “Did you just laugh at Rin?” “he’s funny.” As the sun was dipping low, casting long shadows across the sand. The volleyball game had finally wound down, and the group was making their way back to the cabin. “Alright, I’m calling it. Rin was still grumbling under his breath about “unfairness of the game” as he kicked at the sand, Makoto chuckling quietly beside him. Haru, however, lingered near the water, his feet half-buried in the cool sand. Rin paused at the edge of the beach, glancing back. “Haru, you coming or not?” Haru tilted his head slightly, eyes fixed on the horizon. “In a minute.”Rin narrowed his eyes, debating whether to leave him be. With a sigh, he walked back, stopping a few feet away. “You’re not going to sit here all night staring at the waves, are you?” Rin asked, tossing the volleyball in his hands. At least nobody drowned today. That’s progress.” Haru hummed in agreement, his gaze drifting back to the water. After a beat, he said, “You’re staying out here because you want to, right?” “Yeah, yeah. Don’t get any ideas that I’m worried about you or something,” Rin shot back, though his tone was light.
