Rough Days and Jason

Entire Work

Work Text

“Hey baby,” Jason whispered into the dark room.     You groaned from under the heavy covers, even the slight beam of light coming from the hallway further overstimulated your senses. You hadn’' meant to push yourself so hard that week. You should have taken yesterday off instead of subjecting yourself to the fluorescent lights at work, the chatter of patrons, and the ding of the bell above the door that jingled every time it opened. But you didn't. So, here you were, laying in the dark with your earplugs jammed in your ears trying to quiet at least some of the constant buzzing and humming of your apartment.     You slid an arm out from the covers and waved him over.     “Bad day?” he questioned. The bed dipped as he sat down.     “Bad week,” you mumbled, staying buried under the sheets with your eyes shut.     “What do you need?” Jason put his warm hand on your shoulder. Even with the layers on top of your small frame, there was no mistaking the distinct weight of your boyfriend’s touch—and the comfort it brought.     You shifted the covers down, popped out your earplugs, set them on the nightstand, and spread your arms open, hoping the silent plea got through. When you heard Jason’s small chuckle as he slid under and positioned himself over your body you had your answer. “I’m gonna crush you one of these days.”     “Never,” you whispered, cracking an eye open to peek at his massive form atop you. You're very own weighted blanket complete with the musky scent of Jason’s cologne and his soft black hair tickling your cheek.     Jason gently put more of his weight on you and you would have blushed at the purr that escaped your lips—if not for the overwhelming and instant calm that overtook every point of tension you’d held onto all week. You sighed, letting yourself relax once again while your arms wrapped around his shoulders. You breathed in his cologne and relished the way the pad of his thumb rubbed tiny circles over your bare shoulder. You nuzzled into his warmth, content to stay there forever with the comfort of your oversized boyfriend atop you.     You weren't sure when you’d fallen asleep, but you knew you had when a yawn escaped your dry throat and you moved to stretch—only to be blocked by heavy arms still tightly wound around your body. At some point, Jason had shifted and pressed your back to his chest letting sleep overtake him too. You managed to slide onto your back to smile at your boyfriend, your beautiful beautiful Jason. Jason with his dark lashes hovering over his tanned skin. With his soft, steady breathing (so different from the usual rapid breaths that arose from his nightmares he refused to talk about). With his strong, scarred body shielding you from whatever dangers that might appear through your doorway. He was perfectly imperfect. Flawed and scarred, but also nerdy and adorable. And he was yours.     No longer being able to help yourself, you leaned in and pressed a small kiss to the tip of his nose. Then his forehead. Each cheek. And as he gently woke, Jason found your lips. He kissed you slowly, holding you ever closer.     He nuzzled his nose against yours when he pulled away. “What time is it?” he asked.     “Does it matter?” you replied, pulling his lips back to yours.     Jason moved over you once again, this time resting heavily between your legs. His tongue slid over your lips and you welcomed the deepening kiss, threading your fingers into his hair.     It was just as he began trailing his lips down your jaw and to your neck, peppering soft kisses along your soft skin when his phone rang. You groaned. “Leave it.”     “Can’t,” he claimed rolling to the other side and fishing his phone from his pocket. He rolled his eyes upon seeing the caller ID. “What do you want dickwad?”     You had to bite your lip to stop from laughing. He’d never answered the phone like that before. At least, not in front of you. Jason spoke little of his family, but you knew the wealthy Wayne’s existed and that he was one of the adopted children The Bruce Wayne took in. Your boss filled you in on the drama from a few years back when she noticed Jason hanging around more and more. The story was he’d seen the Joker do something terrible and he’d been put in witness protection or something. You believed it. For a while. Then, you got to know him better and whether the story was true or not, Jason didn't move like someone who’d been in hiding for five years from the Joker. That and he’d kept his name, he retained his ties to his family (however reluctantly), and he moved back to the same city. You weren't an expert by any means, but patterns were sorta your thing, and this one wasn't lining up.     “Call someone else,” Jason said. Curious, you snuck closer to your boyfriend, trying to hear the other end of the conversation. Jason switched the phone to his other ear. You kissed his sweet spot, the bit of flesh just at the juncture between his neck and shoulder, in retaliation. He barely held back the moan and pushed you, playfully, onto the bed with one hand, mouthing the word brat with a smile on his face.     After a bit more back and forth, Jason relented and hung up with a “be there in twenty.” He anticipated the pout on your lips when he turned to face you again, just not how well it’d pull on his heart. “I gotta go, baby.”     “Stand 'em’ up.”     He chuckled and placed a kiss on your lips. Before you could grab onto him, he was rising from your bed and heading for his jacket.     “Who was on the phone anyway?” you asked. A slight push every now and then might get you an answer one of these days, you thought.     “Make sure you eat something,” he called from the hall instead. “I got leftovers from Alfred's.”     You jumped from the be. “Why didn't you say so!”     He was gone by the time you made it to your kitchen, but you were too excited about Alfred’s cooking—the one family member he wasn't afraid to talk about—to care. It took you a full ten minutes to realize how easily Jason had slipped through your questioning. Did WitSec offer training in deflection or something?     Red Hood found Nightwing and Spoiler waiting for him on a rooftop.     “So,” Nightwing dragged out the word, “when do we get to meet her?”     “Yeah, Hood,” Spoiler tagged in, “there was an awful lot of girlish giggling on the other end of that line.”     “Shut it, both you of.” Thank God the helmet hid his flushed cheeks. Introducing you to his fucked up family wasn't even on the list when it came to plans for the two of you. Plans, he thought. He was already thinking about plans for the two of you. Fuck he was in deep. His siblings could never find out.     “Oooh,” Spoiler sang, “Someone’s grumpy we pulled him away from his girlfriend.” The two had twisted smiles plastered on their faces.     Jason didn't even have the heart to deny the blonde. He was grumpy he’d had to leave you. Instead, he said, “You texted the group chat didn't you.”     They shared a fist bump in answer.
