Regulus Arcturus Black, 1979 Shivers had gone down his spine, but not because of the cold.He was alone, he´s supposed to be used to it.Or he wasn´t, but the thought of Kreacher being the only one with him in this cave isn´t exactly comforting. Many things in Regulus´ life weren´t exactly comforting. That´s a lie. There were these little moments when Regulus found himself to be happy. He just didn´t know the name for the feeling back then.
It comes in waves, I close my eyes
Hold my breath and let it bury me
Regulus had thought that happiness was the moments of freedom outside 12 Grimmauld Place. Running through the park near home, petting stray cats and dogs. Borrowing Sirius´ clothes many sizes too big.It was the happiness Regulus knew before Sirius left home and went to Hogwarts.
I´m not okay, and it´s not alright
After Regulus had been sorted to Slytherin as hoped for, not including Sirius, it took a while to feel happy again. He wasn´t depressed, Salazar no.But the Black Brothers had been separated and there was no saving them anymore. And Regulus, he had Barty, he had Evan. Then also Dorcas and Pandora. So he wasn´t alone, always surrounded by people.Alone wasn’t a synonym for lonely.
Won´t you drag the lake and bring me home again?
They had their moments. When Barty would jump to the line of sight out of nowhere and talk and talk and talk to keep the harmful silence away. When Evan would spare amused looks with Regulus in class when someone said something stupid or spoke things out too loud. When Pandora would invite Regulus and the others to a picnic outside, do a palm reading. When Dorcas would come to their dorm and tell the newest gossip and help him choose an outfit for a date. For a date with certain sunshine boy. That was Regulus´ home and his family.
Who´ll fix me now? Dive in when I´m down?
He had betrayed Voldemort and that is what´s important.
Save me from myself, don´t let me drown
There was no saving Regulus Black. He was drowning and he was dying brave.
Who will make me fight? Drag me out alive?
His lungs were full of water, his ears ringing and the locket dragging him down. He was in pain, his body screaming and burning. The locket around his neck choking him.
´Cause you know I can´t do this on my own
And he was crying.Because no one would ever know. He would be reported missing in 3 days and dead in a week.No one would ever find his body. He´d never see Sirius again. The heart of a Lion died that night.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
Evan Rosier, 1980
Big bolts of lightning hanging low
Evan wasn't stupid, he knew it was a war, everyone knew it. But he couldn't help but enjoy the adrenaline of the fighting. The lights of different spells and curses passing the whole time. He felt his blood rush down his vessels. It made him feel real. But Evan did never particularly enjoy the war. Who would?
Either way, we're not alone
I'll find a new place to be from
You see, Evan had plans. He wanted to run away with Barty. They knew it would always be the two of them. Barty and Evan, Evan and Barty. They'd leave together, find a new place to be from, a place to make theirs. But they couldn't leave yet. It would be considered as betrayal or fear. And it was not that.
A haunted house with a picket fence
To float around and ghost my friends
Those dreams weren't his parents' dreams. And it was important to Evan. He had something of his own, he could have something of his own. There was a time when the effect of the Rosier Manor had a huge impact on Evan's life. The place was haunted, bad things hiding behind the white curtains, everything polished to the top, and no sign of life. The place was perfect. And the people living there couldn't be anything else than that.Sometimes, Evan regrets that he ever drifted away from his people, became a ghost, shadow of the others.Sometimes he wonders if it had an impact on Regulus' destiny.
No, I'm not afraid to disappear
The billboard said, “The end is near”
There was shouting, spell-casting, lights of the curses. It was a mission. The plan was to create a distraction to something bigger, important, and the distraction needed to cling as many aurors and order of the phoenix members as possible.Today, everything was going according to plan with the mission.Evan had successfully blown the best auror's, Mad-Eye Moody's eye off. And that if something was an achievement to be proud of.Evan sought respect. They were almost done, Wilkes and Mulciber already starting to finish and search for a place to apparate in.A green light passed Evan's head from behind.
I turned around, there was nothing there
Yeah, I guess the end is here
Evan turned again, saw a light of green, and fell to the ground. The boy was damned from the start, but the small bits of happiness gave him hope, and in the end, he never let go of that. But in the end.He couldn't change his destiny even if he tried. He was the second one to go.
The end is here
