The battlefield was set, the wind howling as the hero stood tall, their cape billowing dramatically behind them. Across from them, the villain clenched their fists, breathing heavily after their latest attack. Smoke rose from the impact zone, but the hero remained completely unscathed. The hero smirked, planting their hands on their hips. “IS THAT THE BEST YOU CAN DO??? HA HA HA!” they bellowed, their laughter echoing across the ruined landscape. The villain’s shoulders tensed. Their lip quivered ever so slightly. “Uh… yeah,” they mumbled, voice shaky as they struggled to keep their composure. “I’m actually trying really hard here, man…”The hero’s victorious grin faltered. Their stance stiffened, and their bravado drained from their face as the realization hit. The villain’s eyes were glossy, their breathing uneven. This wasn’t the response they expected.“Oh,” the hero muttered, now shifting awkwardly. They rubbed the back of their neck, their confidence replaced with unease. “Do you… um… want to talk about it?”The villain’s whole body trembled. Their lips pressed into a tight line as tears desperately tried to escape. Their fists clenched at their sides. Then, with a sudden, forceful shake of their head, they practically shouted, “NO!”Silence. The hero took a step back, glancing around as if hoping someone else would step in and handle this incredibly uncomfortable situation. But it was just them and the emotionally fragile villain. After a long pause, the hero awkwardly cleared their throat. “Uh… okay then. So… should we keep fighting or—”“YES,” the villain snapped, wiping aggressively at their eyes before launching another attack. It was still weak. The hero sighed. This was going to be a long battle.
