Work Text
“Hey..” A voice mumbled from the corner of Kouyou’s ear.
“Hello?.”
Kouyou was completely spaced out as he stared at the dark brown table top. “Shima.. are you ok?.” The voice snapped him out of his dilemma and his head shot up. “Yeah sorry Akira.. it’s just—“
“It’s getting late y’know that right,” Akira interrupted as he placed a tender grip on his arm,”..also you said that you’re officially starting your new job tomorrow, it’s best to get sleep already.”
Kouyou sighed at this because this meant that he would be throwing himself back into more work again; he recently just had a depressive maniac episode with all the drinking and cussing— even on his own friend. About three months ago, he dated a woman named Hitomi. They met at a local bar and things seemed to be going well, even making it to well over a year but let’s just say.. it didn’t end well and he eventually quit his job since he wasn’t able to keep a grip on his emotions: randomly cussing out people who only asked for the company service was definitely something he couldn’t be defended for. After all that hassle, Akira lovingly took him in and he picked himself up off his ass; incredibly surprised on how he held up with him now that he was somewhat mental. The fact that he even offered to take him in, insisted even, was definitely something that he wouldn’t forget after he had almost lost everything.
“I-I know but I just can’t stop thinking about her..” Kouyou whispered, brittle in reply as he tapped his foot on the cold wooden floorboards. Akira tightly squeezed his arm,”Forget about her, she should’ve never lied about all of it in the first place.” Groaning as he was fighting back tears and suppressed emotions of agony, he just roughed his brown hair up and screamed in silence instead. Akira knew what this behavior was about. He knew that if he didn’t vow to quit his addictions, he definitely would’ve been in the kitchen with a bottle opener in hand by now. He caressed his arm heedfully as he gazed down upon him concern. “Shima,” Akira whispered softly as he lowered his lips closer to his ear,”It’s better to not dwell in the past about such things, I can sympathize but I hate to see you like this..”
Kouyou brushed his hair back with a deep sigh, removing the blonde strands from his face as he turned to look at Akira, almost tear-eyed as a tear that glistened in the dim lighting above seeped down his cheek.
Akira stammered a little,”I-I’m sorry I didn’t mean to come off like that but—“
“No, I’m sorry for how expressive i’ve been being.” Kouyou snarled in reply as he cut him off with a glare. He truly couldn’t blame Kouyou being awfully emotional about it but there were times where his madness would scare him a little— even when drunk, and he wish that he could put an end to it. Of course he was allowed to feel his own feelings, but Akira wanted to help him resolve everything in his well-being.
“You’re allowed to feel the way you are right now..” Akira relented warily as he slowly retrieved his hand from Kouyou’s arm with a skeptical look on his face. He wasn’t sure if he was gonna try and punch him in the face he but wasn’t too worried about that since he had more of a lanky build. “Yeah right...” Kouyou snorted as he abruptly got up from his seat. He definitely wasn’t taking any of those words from Akira as he tramped over to his own room.
Akira watched all of this happened as Kouyou uttered unintelligible nonsense of madness in a quiet manner while he disappeared down the dark hallway. He sighed to himself,”Who’s gonna help this dude..” The sound of the door then abruptly slamming shut came from around the corner. Placing his hand on his cheek, he glumly stared. No ideas or help to try and console him— the game of cat and mouse with a rollercoaster of dreadful emotions was beginning to become an exhausting one. The only thing he was able to stop at least was his erratic drinking behavior though, so it gave him somewhat a glimmer of hope.
***
The rays of sunshine peaking through the black curtains as the birds chirped outside. The whole city was awake at the moment while Kouyou was snoring.
“Shimaaa..”. A faint voice sounded as he was dreaming.
Yes! You have won ten million yen!
Beep, beep, beep..
Snoring but with an alarm that was blaring profusely and someone calling out his name in the back.
Beep, beep…
There was loud footsteps coming from down the hallway. “SHIMA WAKE UP ALREADY!!!” Akira’s voice hollered in the back again, covered by the door and the alarm. Kouyou was completely unconscious as he continued to dream through all of the commotion happening in the back. “Oversleeping on a job day, are you serious?..” Akira muttered to himself as he hastily walked through the hallway. He made a right turn to meet the bedroom door of Kouyou. Opening it completely unannounced, his eyes were met with something. This guy was literally knocked out in a starfish pose with his bedsheets completely ruffled, all over, hanging off the bed even. To top that all off, there was that annoying alarm.
“No way he’s sleeping through all this shit!” Akira hissed to himself in disbelief as he stared at precious sleeping-beauty Kouyou. He walked over to the side of the bed and placed a hand on his shoulder. “Kouyou..” He said as he shook him by the shoulder. His gesture was met with no response but instead more snoring. Sighing out of annoyance, he stretched his fingers and cracked his knuckles.
“OW!—“
“WAKE UP ALREADY!!”
Kouyou was punched awake and he rubbed the side of his rib area. Groaning, he sharply inhaled as he rose up from the bed. “Why’d you have to do that?.” He then croaked through his hoarse voice. Akira laughed in his face,”It’s the first day on the job, get ready you idiot!” Kouyou slapped Akira’s arm in response but he didn’t flinch. “Did you cook breakfast?” He asked as he looked him up and down. Akira was currently wearing a white tanktop under black apron. “Like a good housewife..” He then ended with, a silly little grin tugging at the corners of his mouth. Akira’s laughing came to a pause as his head shuddered and he at him weirdly. “That’s coming from the same guy who’s skinny and scrawnier than me..” He retorted with, reaching one hand out, shoving him back into the mattress. Kouyou relented quietly, laughing at his own lame joke as he fell back into the warm sheets.
He wasn’t denying it, as a matter a fact— he actually enjoyed being lankier than the usual body type preferred for men. It went well with the clothing he would put himself in so he paid no mind to it.
“You’re already sleeping again?!” Akira voiced in disbelief from above. Kouyou sighed,”No…” He really didn’t feel like getting up at the moment since he was used to sleeping in until eleven and clocking in at twelve. While he was picking himself back up, he worked at the local cafe around the corner for part time while Akira worked full-time. Now that he was in the right condition, he applied for a full-time job and to his surprise— he got accepted.
“Alright then… well don’t keep me waiting, I also gotta get moving. I’ll park our cars out on the street,” Akira then looked around the spick-and-spack room,”can I get your keys?.” Kouyou stretched his arms and pointed him over to the vanity mirror,”Check the drawer..” He then said as he got up from the mattress, hopping off the bed shortly after. “Alright, well I made bagels with creme cheese and eggs today.” Akira hummed as he opened the vanity mirror drawer, rummaging through it a little. Kouyou began giggling a little from behind. He turned around with furrowed brows from this
“What are you laughing at?.” Akira asked, completely dumbfounded by this as he stared at him.
“Cream…” Kouyou choked in reply as he stifled his own laugh. Akira’s eyes widened and he gasped in disbelief.
“OW!- No, I’m sorry— I-I was just joking please don’t hit me again, please.. I’m- AKIRA—“
…
“I moved our cars alreadyyy…” Akira’s voice drawled down the hallway with footsteps accompanying it. “Here..” He then walked in. “UWAH-“ Low and behold the once fresh and clean vanity mirror table was now adorned in makeup products. Kouyou was currently sitting down with his legs crossed in front of the mirror and he could see that he had pastel pink hair clips to keep his blonde bangs back a little. Patting the powderpuff on his cheek while he stuffed his face with a bagel, he dangled his foot in the air while chowing down on his energy for the day. “Place it here.” Kouyou mumbled through all of his chewing, gesturing towards the empty space on his little tabletop with zero space left on it.
Shit if this guy somehow had enough to pay for his pricey alcohol preferences then with that came his love for makeup and fashion.
Akira could currently see some powder through the sunlight being casted through the window flying around in the air. “Isn’t that gonna get into your food?.” He muttered as he watched him eat, continuing to pat down on his face. Kouyou swallowed,”Yeah maybe, as long as I don’t see it, it doesn’t exist~” He gave him a cheeky little smirk as he lowered the powderpuff from his face. “You sassy little bastard..” Akira hissed under his breath as he walked over to set the keys down on his tabletop. From the looks of it, it seemed to be that he was back to his normal self.
Impetuous as always and relentlessly teasing or stupid sarcasm and annoying jokes. The usual behavior with his close friends, he was rather silent and an awkward nobody whenever he was alone.
“Thank you!” Kouyou hummed as he began packing his makeup products up into his little bag he had for safekeeping. “Yeah, yeah.. anyway,” Akira got a good look at his outfit for the day. He was currently wearing a grey suit with a white button down that had a black tie on it. “you look snazzy, what’d you apply for?” he then inquired with his brows raised. “Criminal paralegal or whatever..” Kouyou replied with as he applied some gloss to his lightly red tinted lips.
“Ehhh?…” Akira was completely dumbfounded.
“Shima as a paralegal?..” He said with a sideways look. Not out of ridicule but in disbelief. He was currently working as a doctor which he too had himself in disbelief but he couldn’t see Kouyou as a paralegal but instead the lawyer since he liked to snap back and argue a lot often. “Yeah, what’s wrong with that? I mean I have told you I’ve been interested in law.” Kouyou replied with as he zipped up his makeup bag. Akira shook his head,“No, nothing, but I think everyone would be done with you if you were a lawyer.” he quipped, laughing a little while he imagined him fighting people off in court.
“See your honor. This guy was obviously fucking bullshitting the whole entire time. Anyway, where the hell did your lawyer get that information from? Did he just pull it of his ass? And if so, it’s terrible, weak!!!”
Kouyou shrieked,”That’s too scary!!”
“Hmm.. but cussing people out at your last job wasn’t?.” Akira replied with raised brows.“Ahumm… we don’t talk about that..” Kouyou whispered sheepishly as he removed the pink hair clips from his hair. Akira scoffed,”Yeah right, your attitude is insane and you needa fix it.” He rolled his eyes at this, as expected to Akira. Staying silent as he was too focused straightening the blonde pieces of hair to act as bangs, Akira walked right out the room. A loud sigh of relief was then emitted,”Finally!..”
Kouyou knew that if he continued to retort back from there, Akira would’ve definitely given him some ass whooping verbally. The physical was enough as he was just used to him slapping the shit out of him like they used to all the time as teens especially, but this guy could quite literally gag him with his words since he knew him so well.
Putting away his straightener, he grabbed his glasses from the drawer and slid them right on. Teasing his hair to his liking and repositioning his bangs a little, he got a good look of himself with his red tinted lips and fairly toned skin. “I should stop breaking down more often!~” He intoned out of satisfactory with his appearance as he posed a little.
“See you..” Akira waved Kouyou off as he drove away.
He was now on the road on the way to his new job, currently using the navigation on his phone since he had never been to this place before. Cautiously making a right turn to merge with the cars passing by, he drove up to an intersection shortly after with a red light and stopped as the second car in line.
“Hmph..”
Pondering about life a little as he sat with nothing but mere ear-ringing silence, there was the ambience of the city and loud cars passing by with the blinker in the back whilst he thought about different outfits he could put himself in.
“Boringgg..” He drawled, deadpanned as he leaned back on his seat. Kouyou looked around a little out of boredom since the outfits were getting too painfully bitter to imagine and he saw a figure in a red car next to him to the right staring at him supposedly. “What the..” He readjusted his glasses a little to make sure what he was seeing was real and not of his imagination or partially blurred vision. “Oh.”
It was just an old lady staring at him as if he was some celebrity or something. But instead, it was a suspicious one.
“Whatever.” The light then turned green and he drove away leaving her unknown ass at the busy intersection. God knows what she could’ve been assuming about Kouyou if she looked at him like that. Taking a left, the purple line indicating the route change. Kouyou uttered a sound of horror as he gripped his steering wheel a little tighter— it was telling him to take the freeway route. “No, no, no!..” He cried to himself quietly as he felt the urge to turn around.
Kouyou wasn’t very fond of driving in general since he felt like he would always crash into someone or even worse: the thought that someone could be tailing him and attempt one of those insurance scams on him, or even a past ex trying to kill him! The worst part of all of that though was the freeways since it was difficult to merge with all the passing cars. Even if he was only twenty-five and been driving for about ten years— he absolute hated it, so much detest that it couldn’t be put into words, and would try everything in his power to avoid it unless it was about driving to a bar.
Typical Kouyou.
But for jobs now, it was an exception he would let that slide at least.
Currently crying to himself as he cussed under his own breathe with the sense of apprehensiveness began creeping up on him as he entered the ramp, he wanted to turn into a mad man and crash his own car already.
…
“You have now arrived at Shiroyama lawfirm.”
Parking his car in the third row of the parking lot, Kouyou turned it off and just sat there.
He swore he felt a tear run down his fucking cheek while he was driving.
At the moment, all he could think of how truly pitiful it was to cry over driving at such an age.
“It’s..” He deeply inhaled,”Ok!..” exhaling as he grabbed his beige tote bag. Hooking it into his shoulder, he stepped out the car with anticipation for the day but most importantly—
Hehe.. what kind of clothes can this job buy me? Makeup even!~
“Welcome!” The receptionist woman greeted Kouyou as he walked through the sliding doors of the firm. He returned the greeting,”Hello.” Walking over to the source of the voice as he inspected the room a little, there were multiple chairs around the rim with a few people sitting on them with paintings of scenery displayed on the wall. Turning his head, his eyes were met with a tall curved counter that had the words “Shiroyama Law Firm” plastered on the wall behind. There was a small hand raised,”I’m over here!!!” It was the receptionist signifying were she was since the counter obscured her whole entire appearance.
Kouyou narrowed his eyes a little as he walked up and he peered down. It was a young woman with black hair and side bangs who had multiple desktop screens shoved in her face. “Oh,” The receptionist flashed him a little smile, maybe for a good customer service rating— but it definitely could’ve been fake. “Hi I’m a new employee here.” Kouyou then said as he returned the smile faintly. He didn’t feel like smiling since it was forced but he didn’t wanna be an ass either. “Great! What’s your name?” The receptionist then asked as she turned her attention over to the big computer screen in front of her instead.
Her lively animated voice was enough to help Kouyou assume that it was instead a truthful one.
“Takashima Kouyou.” He replied with, deadpanned as he whipped his wrist out to check the time on his watch.
9:36 AM.. when the hell does work even start? Oops I should’ve read over that email one more time.
He huffed to himself as he lowered his wrist and gripped at his tote bag a little tighter. The receptionist sounded a bit wary,”Mr. Takashima.. you’re working for Shiroyama Yuu.”
“I-Is that a bad thing?” Kouyou stammered as he scratched his head a little.
“No.. absolutely not,”The receptionist laughed a bit awkwardly,”..but you two were supposed to meet about thirty six minutes ago, let me give him a call.” She picked up the phone next to her and dialed a few numbers on the keypad. Meanwhile, his eyes widened and he looked to the side. “Hi Yuu! I know it’s unexpected to receive a call from me at the moment but…”
It sounds terrible..
It was already the first day on the job and he was late. Even worse, a lawful job.
The receptionist put the phone back,”He’s waiting,” Kouyou’s eyes shot back to look at her,”Go to room 549 on the fifth floor! Also..” The receptionist leaned in closer,”..try not to cry when he yells at you, he sounds a bit mad right now.” She whispered, very much deliberately.
IM GONNA GET YELLED AT NOW?
From the expression on her face, Kouyou could already tell this guy probably cussed her out in the past. “O-Ok..” Kouyou sighed and laughed awkwardly. “Anyway, take the elevator back there!” She pointed to the open hallway next to her desk. “Thank you.” He walked over to the elevator with the regret of applying for his now new job as he then clicked on the number five option on the keypad.
Standing in silence under the buzzing of the white fluorescent lighting in the grey steel elevator, all he was thinking about was how joyful his days of sleeping in were.
He basically had to be up until 9AM and clock out at god knows what. Over the weekend he didn’t even read over that email twice at least and instead skimmed over it. He caught a glimpse of “you’re hired, please come in on Monday of next week” and then shut his laptop within seconds.
Impetuous witty Kouyou.. who would be there to keep his ass in his place of Akira couldn’t.
Ding!
The elevator door opened and there were already a few people waiting to use it. Paying no mind to them as he walked out, he entered the corridor full of different offices. “What kind of mundane hell is this..” He muttered to himself under his breath as he tread down the red carpet floor that swallowed any sound his footsteps made. “510.. 511…” Huffing, his impatience caused him to leave the hallway and tramp down into two other ones. “530?!” Leaving the third hallway, he was met with the end that just displayed a view of the city. “Oh..” Taking a quick second to admire the view, he caught himself and turned the corner. Walking all the way to the end instead. “549..” He mumbled, deadpanned.
But on the inside, he was actually screaming. Instead of him cussing out his coworkers he had a feeling that this unknown attorney was gonna be scolding the shit out of him for being late.
“Excuse you?. I’m sure our work isn’t any different, what the actual fuck are you insinuating right now.”
And he could already feel it with the muffled words coming through the door.
“YES. I told you it’s on November 4th..” A agitated voice barked from behind the door,”Do I need to remind you multiple times? Stop forgetting.”
I feel like resigning right now..
Stepping up to the door anxiously, he knocked.
“Exactly. November 4th. It’s currently August 13th and you haven’t at least—”
“…”
The voice took a momentarily pause. They then groaned,”Hold on..”
The sound of heavy footsteps coming towards the door sounded from behind. It sounded like they were probably holding back every single bone in their body to punch the shit out of whoever was behind that phone call at the moment.
The door creaked open,”What? What the fuck do you want..”
“Who are you speaking to?!” Another voice came faint from the phone on speaker.
It was a fairly young man with black hair that covered his left eye a little. He had dark brown eyes and was currently wearing a black suit with red tie. Kouyou’s eyes shook a little as his gaze was rather piercing so he drifted his eyes down instead over to his..
Oh wow his lips..
notable plush lips. Upon further inspection he also noticed that he had a black lip piercing in.
Is he some sort of menace? I think Akira would like him and mention that…
The mans lips then moved,”Hello? I asked what you’re here for. What kind of people are they letting into this firm nowadays..” He was probably referring to the problems their clients would come to with that attorneys maybe wouldn’t agree with.
Kouyou mustering up all the strength to not snap back and call him a little bitch,”Hi! Are you Shiroyama Yuu?” he asked with a grimacing smile on his face that twitched a little; a fake one he developed from his last job. “Oh..” The man lowered the phone from his ear,”.. uhm sorry I’ll get back to you later.” He then shoved it in his suit pocket.
To his surprise, he expected Yuu to go all crazy and start cussing him out for being late. Instead, he was sort of nice to him.
“Yeah I’m Yuu... here, come in..” He mumbled a bit irritated as he stepped to the side, holding the door open for Kouyou as if he was a little princess. “Aha~ thanks!” Kouyou acknowledged this little gesture of kindness as he broke professionalism a little and skipped right on in. Now in a more dimly lit enviroment, he could see that there was a view of the city displayed by a large window pane in the office. Turning his head, his eyes were met with a desk that had papers every: as if a tornado had just swept by, and there were two large bookcases behind the desk.
“Oh wow..” He uttered to himself as he stood there like a little kid being amazed by one of those suspicious street magicians. There was a touch of orange lighting around the rooms walls being mixed with the blue lighting emitted through the window pane from the city. “Take a seat and tell me what you want.” Yuu was incredibly straight forward with his words as he pointed to the wooden chair in front of his desk while he walked over.
Behind that was a couch, large enough to fit two people. What a glamorous office,
you can take a nap in here!!
Kouyou thought to himself as he walked over to take a seat, admiring the view of the city in silence since it had peaked his interest so much more than a conversation with his own attorney. “So? What.” Said Yuu, sternly as he watched him take his seat slowly. “Hurry up and sit your ass down.” He then amended impatiently as he leaned his arms onto the desk, obscuring a few details on some documents. Kouyou shot him a glare in response to this.
What? No one talks to me like that. Who the hell does this man think he is??
“Oh… sorry, I work at my own pace.” Kouyou sneered as he crossed his arms and legs together, looking Yuu up and down as he silently huffed. “Okay well—“
“Anyway I’m your new paralegal, Kouyou Takashima.” He heckled as he readjusted his glasses, pushing them back up from the nose bridge.
In his own silly little mind, he thought he would look smart just by doing that and therefore it would make up for his half-hour lateness.
Yuu scoffed at this,”Oh really? So they gave me a little nerd that doesn’t know how to keep track of time. I think I should start double checking the people that I hire from now on. Please come on time tomorrow.” Kouyou gasped from those very words because he was so easily able to resort back to the business topic instead of rambling on about how he looked like a nerd which Akira usually did.
NO WAY IN HELL AM I WORKING WITH THIS GUY. NERD? YOU LOOK LIKE A FUCKING.. BITCH.
Yuu yawned as he then moved the papers away under his arms and stacked them. Meanwhile, Kouyou was absolutely fuming with anger, detest, every single word that you could think of to describe a “i’m gonna beat the absolute shit out of this guy until he’s dead” moment as he gritted his teeth and tensed his fists to the point that his knuckles turned white. And the fact that he broke out into a little grin for a second when said,”please come tomorrow on time.” flashed before his eyes made him feel like the reason he would be in court was because of the absolute shit he casted upon this guy out of spite. Verbally or physically, he wanted to have his way still but unfortunately unable to.
“Anyway,” Yuu interjected as he stacked the papers up. He then shoved it to the side along with one other stack, indicating he was maybe a really busy man. “Let’s discuss our procedures, okay?.” He then looked at Kouyou, speaking to him as if he was a little preschooler. “..okay.” Kouyou muttered in reply as he stared at him with narrowed eyes.
Yuu could already tell that this guy hated him but he really didn’t feel like picking on him at the moment.
“Legal research. Let’s say you were to get something like a robbery case. I’m assuming that you’ve done those in the past, how long does it take you to get that done often?” Yuu inquired as he scrutinized Kouyou a little. “Uhm..” Kouyou had actually never worked as a paralegal before so therefore he had no response.
There was a moment of silence between the two as they just stared at each other. Yuu specifically was making it so obvious that he was observing his face and he felt a bit shy about it, tucking a few strands of hair behind his ears as he averted his gaze elsewhere since it was so intimidating.
Yuu then clicked his tongue as he propped his cheek up on his hand,”Mm, so.. you haven’t had any prior experience?.” he asked, breaking the moment of silence. “Yeah..” Kouyou replied with sheepishly.
He could already tell this guy would probably be a good lawyer with that discernment of his; Kouyou hadn’t told him anything yet or written anything on his application, plus, no one questioned him or looked at him when he was on his way to his office earlier.
“Mhm… now,” Kouyou’s head perked up from this. “and if so I’m assuming you already know what legal research is, right?” Yuu inferred as he tilted his head a little. “Yeah of course.” Kouyou replied with as he nodded. “Great, now I prefer my legal research to be done within four weeks at least.”
A month? Alright, alright..
“What if I go over that?.” Kouyou inquired with a sense of dread as he scratched his head.
Yuu chuckled,”Then I’ll stop by and continue pestering you until you get it done!” You could already tell that this guy had some devious intent behind all of that pestering that maybe came with rounds of getting cussed out and dogged on. “Also since you’re new, I don’t want you to just ask our clients ‘what did they do to you?’ instead, I want you to quite literally ask them to walk you through the whole entire incident. We can be able make multiple inferences off of it if the evidence lines up.”
Kouyou deeply inhaled,”O-Okay, sounds good..” he stammered a little, exhaling as he played with a few strands of hair a bit out of nervousness. He felt himself already becoming stress with the fact that Yuu was so specific about what he wanted.
The two then continued to talk about legal matters for one more hour and their meeting officially closed.
“Now to start you off,” Yuu picked out a few documents from the papers he stacked earlier. “Take these and give them to give them to the legal secretary!” He sounded so happy to Kouyou’s dismay as he pulled out a yellow folder from the drawers below. Hearing how he was so demanding and expecting highly of him was already making him want to crash his car on the way home.
Marking it up with red pen, he slipped the papers in there and handed it to him with a little smile on his face. Kouyou’s eye twitched a little as his gaze averted down over to his hands holding it out for him. He noticed that he had quite flashy jewelry.
I can just rob this man and make a fortune instead of fucking working for him.. sounds like a great plan if he continues to piss me off, I don’t mind running from the law…
With a prolonged sigh, Kouyou took the folder from his hand and rolled his eyes. Yuu snickered,”That’s only the beginning of it, Kouyou..” He sounded like some evil snob clowning him, so much to the point that Kouyou had to look up and take a double take. “Now let’s take you to your office!~”
Kouyou and Yuu walked down the corridor of the fifth floor with Kouyou’s footsteps shuffling from behind. Taking a left, the two walked down a hallway and were then met with the elevator door. Yuu clicked on the button and stepped back to wait for the door to open. “Ahh.. uhm…” Kouyou uttered awkwardly as he stood there beside Yuu. Yuu’s head turned to look at him with a weird look on his face,”What’s up?” Kouyou jumped a little from this as he lowered his own. “..what’s the work hours…” He mumbled shyly as he gripped at the yellow folder a bit tighter.
…
There was a moment of silence between the two yet again.
“What?..” Yuu replied with, completely clueless. “I said what’s the work hours..” He then intoned, annoyed, brushing his hair out of boredom. “I can’t hear you, speak louder.” Kouyou furrowed his brows and huffed at this.
“I said..” he then lifted his head back up to look at him,”what’s the WORK hours.” reiterating his words for the thousandth time.
Yuu glared at him because of tone of voice he was speaking to him in. It sounded like he choked on his words for a second but he then spoke,”Nine to eight..” he muttered in reply as he cracked his knuckles. Kouyou sighed,”Okay, thank you.” The elevator opened before the two with a ding and there were already three people in it.
One of them walked out and the other two stayed. The two of them were young women and one of them seemed to be busy since she was holding a large green folder. “Goodmorning Mr. Shiroyama..” One of them said warily with a little bow. Her voice sounded distinct like the one from the phone call earlier. The two of them bowed while Kouyou and Yuu walked in. “Goodmorning.” He replied with, deadpan as he walked over to the keypad. Yuu then walked over to lean on the railing opposite to them, meanwhile Kouyou just stood in the corner while he scrolled on his phone.
“I was on your way to your office but… you’re here- I would like to apologize about not getting any work done, I’m awfully busy..” The female employee with the green folder intoned as her and the other gave each other knowing looks. Yuu scolded her,“Really?.. I’ve been stopping by everyday for about a month by now and I made it clear I wanted it done within the same week I assigned it to you. How else are we going to progress forward if you can’t do such a simple thing.. we also need to interview witnesses as well so I don’t need to tell you twice that it’s important.”
Kouyou lifted his head up from this and he looked around the room. The two women were standing there like little kids being scolded by their mentor, Yuu, who had an enraged look on his face that instead kept its silence.
“Well I’m sorry but.. I’m just busy with other cases.” The female employee added a touch of attitude as she rolled her eyes. “Sasuke told me he’s been giving you legal documents to draft instead… you don’t have any legal research on your ass besides petty theft and the one that me and him were told to work on together with.” Yuu retorted with as he tapped his foot on the steel floor.
He was getting impatient and didn’t want to deal with shit.
“Yeah, yeah.. also, you were looking for a new paralegal and I requested I help you as your full-time, why’d you deny me? Shizuku said she was alright with it. I’m just curious, that’s all.” The other spoke up hesitantly as she stood next to the women with a green folder. “Because I simply can.” Yuu replied with as he played with his sideburns.
But he hired me now so..
“So you’re just gonna work as a solo lawyer?” She then inquired, seemingly agitate as the sound of her heels tapped the floor. Kouyou lowered his head back over to his phone because the conversation disinterested him; he expected to hear about the case they were working on together but apparently not. Yuu scoffed at this,”No what kind of lawyer works solo?. It’s a lot, no one wants to do all of this shit alone. besides I appreciate my paralegals a lot.”
“Oh so the rumors weren’t wrong.” The woman with the green folder whispered within earshot of the other only but Yuu caught wind of this.
“They’re wrong, I would never do that..” Yuu muttered as he crossed his arms together. “The way you two were close though?.” The woman with the green folder retorted with. “Hey!. maybe another likes you though.” She then intoned suspiciously as she turned to look at the other, who now seemed to be her friend. “U-Uhm..” She uttered some awkward nonsense to her friend as they jostled each other by the shoulder a bit while they giggled.
“Oh. Well anyway, I do have a new paralegal.” Yuu interjected as he turned to look at Kouyou who was too busy looking on his phone while he gripped at his tote bag with his other hand. “Wait, who is it?” The friend asked with a bit of a shocked look on her face. “Oh right, who?! Tell us something about them it’s rare that you ever get a new one Yuu!”
“…they’re just.. interesting, maybe stupid.” Yuu mumbled in reply from all the questioning. The two women then gasped.
Kouyou chimed back in and looked up because he thought he had heard some things. All he currently heard though was the two women whispering and gossiping about god knows what meanwhile, Yuu was nonchalant and just leaned on the elevator railing in silence. After a few more seconds, all the gossiping behind the buzzing of the fluorescent lights came to a stop and the elevator opened with a ding.
“Let’s go.” Yuu ordered as he walked out with his hands shoved in his suit pockets. Kouyou followed from behind with no response as he continued to look on his phone.
“Wait Yuu!—“ One of the female colleagues exclaimed as two walked away.
Her voice was met with no response and the elevator door then sounded shut as the two walked down the corridor.
Walking down the red carpet floors, Yuu was looking for the hallway that Kouyou’s office was in. Kouyou still lost in his phone was incredibly silent so all you could hear from the two were the sounds of their footsteps shuffling. Yuu noticed this and he turned his head around. Seeing that Kouyou was a bit far from him because he was walking at an insanely slow pace, Yuu just stood there, crossing his arms together as he furrowed his brows.
Kouyou silently squealed,”no way! Akira got me a new—“
“Do I need to remind you to get off your phone?” Yuu scolded him out as he stood there with an even more upset look on his face than what it was in the elevator. Kouyou stood there weirdly with his phone in hand. Yuu groaned as he walked over to him. “Sorry..” Kouyou said under his breath as he watched him stand in front of him.
“Uhm..” Kouyou uttered as he stepped back a little.
All of a sudden, Yuu pulled one of his hands and reached out, pinching Kouyou’s left cheek. Kouyou shrieked from this and he covered his cheek. “WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!” He hissed, gripping at his tote bag tighter as he then gave him an aggravated look that meant murder. “You have really have soft skin.” Yuu replied with airily. “What the..” Kouyou’s eyes widened as he stepped closer again and he screamed.
A door opening sounded around the corner,”What’s going on?” a voice then asked. It seemed to be a working attorney there and they turned the corner.
All they could see was Yuu laughing in Kouyou’s face who was in the midst swatting his hands away from his face while he cussed him out.
“Oh…” The attorney then went back into their office and the door creaked shut.
“Your skin is so soft like a baby’s bum Kouyou!” Yuu exclaimed happily as he tugged his face by the cheek, shaking his whole head. “Take me to my fucking office already!” Kouyou barked in reply. “Yeah I will but wow, I can’t believe you’re my new coworker!” Yuu giggled as he continued to squish and pester Kouyou with all of his touches. Groaning, Kouyou instantly shoved his phone in his pocket and went for Yuu’s face with his now freehand to push him back a little. All the laughing and bickering came to a pause and Yuu finally broke away from him. Sighing,”You’re no fun,” he then turned up to look at Kouyou with a glum look that kept its silence,”Go find your office on your own instead..” Kouyou watched in shock as Yuu walked away from him, completely disregarding of him while he greeted another unknowing employee coming down the hallway.
“WHY ARE YOU LEAVING ME?!.” Kouyou shouted throughout the empty hallway that echoed.
The employee Yuu greeted earlier raised their brows at him but they continued to walk otherwise.
Yuu instantly turned back around to stare at him with a look of derangement as his mouth trembled. Looking to his left and right, he tramped right on over to Kouyou who hesitantly stepped back and he could see it on his face; he was seeing absolute red.
Yuu stepped right in front of Kouyou who remained with a look of derision on his face, totally enthusiastic on the inside that he had pissed him off in return for those words he had said to him earlier.
“I expected you to be good and fucking follow me but you don’t. Obviously I was fucking joking and don’t piss me off already because I have MULTIPLE clients I have to get to. If I grow any grey hairs already the reason will be YOU.”Yuu whispered irritably as his eye flinched. “Mhmm.. you could’ve just said that then you old man.” Kouyou quipped with as he smirked. He referring to his words he had just said earlier about growing grey hairs just for some fuckery. Yuu groaned at this because they were getting absolutely sidetracked and even worse— he was losing his professionalism. To avoid anymore petty drama between the two,”EH?!—“ he caught Kouyou by surprise and grabbed him by the wrist. Yuu then pulled him down the corridor along with him. “Get your hand off of me!” Kouyou complained as he tried to swat his hand off but Yuu avoided all of the physical protest from him in silence. “My clients are waiting so it’s best that we aren’t slow.” Yuu reciprocated, completely unbothered by Kouyou’s bickering as he then turned the corner.
Walking up a wooden door after about five minutes of bickering between the two in such an unprofessional manner, Kouyou sighed in defeat. Standing around behind Yuu, he was already getting bored with this office job.
“Slow..” He muttered under his breath as he watched Yuu rummage through the pockets of his suit pants. Thankfully Yuu didn’t catch any of wind of his words this time and he pulled out a gold key from his pocket. Inserting it into the lock of the wooden door, he twisted it.
Click..
He twisted the doorknob open and walked into the office. “This is your room.” Yuu hummed as he walked in. Kouyou followed from behind with anticipation and he gasped.
There was a large window pane behind a desk with a vacant office chair and even if it was only the second floor of the law firm, there was still a good view of the city; not as much as Yuu’s office though being on the fifth floor. “Ooh!” He instantly skipped up to the window pane to get a better look and you could see the roofs of some of the other smaller businesses nearby. “Don’t get too distracted now..” Yuu’s voice came from behind accompanied by footsteps.
Kouyou turned around with a deadpan look on his face but he in fact was still hold onto some grudges. The only reason he suppressed all of his little wants to go off on Yuu since they were in private was because he didn’t want to make him any more mad than before. Knowing him to be a lawyer, he relented and acknowledged the fact that he was always busy and therefore it would make sense that he would have low-temper.
He was beginning to wonder about what things he had to deal with if he gave him about ten papers on the first day. Ten papers of legal documents to finish drafting or writing on.
“Are you going to ask something?” Yuu’s voice chimed, inquiring, bringing Kouyou back to the current moment. “No, not at all or uh.. for now.” Kouyou replied with vaguely. Yuu gave him a sideways look from this. At the moment he didn’t want to probably bore Yuu with all of his questions that he had about the law in general. “Ok then.. so you’re set for the day.” Yuu supposed with a nod that swayed to the side a little. Kouyou gave him an even more assured nod in response as he slipped the tote bag off his shoulder. Yuu noticed this and he averted his attention over to it instead. “Also it’s mandatory to bring a briefcase to work, of course you can have other bags but we have our case files handled in briefcases.” He said as he stepped back a little. He was going to take his leave soon and wanted to make sure that Kouyou didn’t have anymore other questions, considering the fact that he was a new paralegal as well. “Okay thank you for telling me, I’ll get to work now!” Kouyou hummed as he trotted over to his desk. Yuu watched as he happily plopped down on his office chair, spinning around as if he was some kind of child.
How childish..
Seeing his desk empty with only a tote bag on it and a desktop,”Do you have anything to write with?” Yuu questioned him as he watched him spin around. Kouyou’s spinning came to an abrupt stop as he turned to look at him with a bug eyed look. “No.. I don’t…” Kouyou replied with, completely gagged as he didn’t even think about bringing one in the first place. “Here,” Yuu walked over. Kouyou’s nose was then greeted by a delightful scent.
Wait this guy.. smells GOOD. Yuu what kind of cologne do you use, please enlighten me!
He then whipped out a black ballpoint pen from his suit pocket,”you can keep it, I have like twenty other more.” He quipped with a little smile on his face as he handed it to him. “Oh! Thank you~” Kouyou intoned happily as he took the pen from his bedazzled fingers. Yuu then stepped back to head for the door. Finally sure and ready to leave Kouyou on his own,”I’ll be off now, it’s currently 10:48 and lunch is at 1PM to 2PM which you don’t really have to follow but anyway.. if you see me out, don’t be afraid to stop by otherwise.”
“Okay sure.” Kouyou okayed his heedful remarks for the millionth time and Yuu faintly sighed at this because he was being incredibly vague to his disliking. Giving a little wave, Yuu walked right on out and closed the door with a click sounding right after.
Uwahhh… the smell of him… it’s gone.
Kouyou cried in silence about such a small thing. Though, leaving him with legal documents to finish marking up, he immediately got to work.
…
“Goodmorning Mr. Shiroyama!” A colleague greeted Yuu as the elevators dinged open. “Goodmorning.” He replied with so coldly as he stepped out the hallway door. Not acknowledging them in any physical way but only verbally, the other colleague tried to gain his attention,”Wait, wait-“ They uttered as they scurried over to him from behind. Yuu groaned,”What? What is it now.” He turned around and the other colleague was on their phone and tapped a few things on it. “The case regarding Tomoe is still ongoing and I heard you fired your last paralegal, are you going solo on it?.”
“No, I won’t be.. I already found someone else. Plus, me, Takanori, and Sasuke are on it— there will be no solo.” Yuu snapped back in annoyance. He thought it was so obvious to them already but it seemed not. Also, he was reconsidering introducing Kouyou to the case and dropping half of his workload to share with him since one: he said that he was a new paralegal, and two:
He’s a bit difficult..
In actuality though he was actually keeping himself from dropping half of his workload until he pissed him off as a way of a secret fuck you.
“Oh okay sounds good..” The other colleague sounded suspicious as if they wanted to continue questioning him like any other person working in law would but, they wanted to respect that decision since it had nothing to do with them. Waving each other off with their respected farewells, the two parted ways and Yuu continued to stride down the corridors of the fourth floor.
Knock, knock..
Yuu knocked on the door of another office as he stood there with one hand in his pocket. “Alright now it was nice hearing from you, our meeting here has officially came to an end. Thank you for the additional details this helps a lot with the case!” An Animated voice came from behind the door compared to Yuu on a daily basis with his other coworkers. The door then slowly creaked open,”Sorry..” Yuu mumbled as he stepped to the side a little. The woman awkwardly laughed,”No worries.” Acknowledging their apology with a grimacing smile, he held the door open for her. Watching her walk off into the empty red-carpet hallway, Yuu walked in and closed the door behind him.
“You’re here so early.” The voice from earlier mentioned, breezy, accompanied by the sound of keyboard clicking. “Yeah I gave some of the papers I was supposed to finish over to someone else.” Laughter was being emitted from the desk area as Yuu took a seat on the cushioned chair in front of it. “Wow you really seem to care about your clients now, Takanori.” Yuu joked, specifically talking about the chair as he snuggled his ass cheeks into the blue cushions. Takanori brushed his shoulder length blonde hair and teased it a little as he looked at himself on the desktop camera,”Of course you don’t, you’re fucking mean.” he then replied with, the harsh truth unfortunately. “EH?!- EVERYONE says that. You’re all just sensitive.” Yuu retorted with sheepishly, completely breaking his cold demeanor from earlier.
Finally with his best friend, Takanori, he was able to unwind and break off the professionalism, laminating it with their usual banter instead.
“Mm.. really?!.” Takanori suspected him of lying as he turned away from the desktop screen with red lipstick in hand. “Yeah, what of it?.” Yuu muttered defensively as he crossed his arms together. “You’re mean.. and a pervert Yuu.” Takanori reciprocated dryly, chuckling a little as he eyed. Yuu rolled his eyes as he objected this accusation,”Well I’m definitely not one.”
“Those stories with your last paralegal say otherwise.” Takanori said as he pressed his lips together to even out the red lipstick he put on just a few seconds earlier.
Yuu scoffed,”First of all she always initiated that stuff with me and secondly, I only did it with her once.. no way in hell would I do it twice.” Deliberately admitting and confirming the rumors to Takanori. Takanori gasped at this,”So they were true.. uhmm, how’d people find out about you two?.” He then inquired as he leaned in on the desk, invested in his little affair he had. ”She told someone at the office…” Yuu said, a bit shyly about it as he avoided Takanori’s gaze, looking elsewhere like the little painting of a dog on the wall of his office.
With being close even came some detailed stories about their intimate life but Yuu was a bit embarrassed to talk about his own half of the time.
Let’s just say, he absolutely gave Takanori great advice though…
“Sheeesh..” Takanori uttered as he looked Yuu up and down with heavy eyelids,”Well she was maybe too excited about doing it with a good looking guy like you!.” He then quipped, complimenting Yuu on his looks in a rather inappropriate way.
Yuu’s eyes slowly drifted back over to him with a skeptical look.
“You idiot I didn’t mean it like that, I just meant you’re good looking and I’m surprised how you’re even single right now..” Takanori amended with cautiously, he knew how scary Yuu was with his low-temperament. “Yeah I go around and fuck people to get it over with.” Yuu joked dryly, maybe even bitterly. He was referring to his last ex-girlfriend which he totally despised. Takanori giggled wearily,”Me too!..” He also had a ex-boyfriend that wronged him in the worst way possibly.
Usually when the two bantered in their free time, their favorite thing to do was shit talk their exes that they absolutely despised and make little comments about their older employees purely out of spite. They were often talked down on since thy were considered younger than the general age at their workplace. These two were basically the secret demons at the firm—his dad’s firm which Takanori had been apart of for about four years now. The only reason he moved over from the last one he worked at over to Yuu’s was because his phone wouldn’t stop dinging with trivial manners and such. When he asked for an application, he was instantly hired by his father’s bias. Though it wasn’t a bad decision since he was incredibly good with his work and always got it done on time while hoeing around with other guys which wasn’t a good thing at all. Showing up to work with painkillers here and there, Yuu on the other hand was a bit concerned by this but was too busy with work and instead liked to tease and aggravated some of his employees out of boredom whenever he stopped by.
Seriously though, someone absolutely needs to put a leash on these two as they happily waltzed through the sliding glass doors of the firm everyday to cause some inner havoc on those nearby. Specifically Yuu, a few were wary of him while the rest just dealt with it meanwhile Takanori was surprisingly respectful.
“Anyway don’t tell me you showed up to work with more painkillers.” Yuu pointed as he scrutinized Takanori’s sluggish behavior. His flashy red suit and mass amounts of jewelry on his wrists; these two were basically polar opposites in a good way. Takanori yawned,”Well I slept late and no, I haven’t done anything and I haven’t for the past week,” he denied this with incredulous distaste as he pressed his lips together. “Some guy was babbling about how he wish he could do it with me every night so I think it’s time I stop for a bit before one of those weirdos find me again..”
Yuu gasped at this because he knew Takanori didn’t swing like that since he emphasized he fact that all he wanted to do was have sex and get a move on with it in their little talks about their one night stands, all that jazz.
“Besides that, how’s that paralegal you’ve been working with doing with the part of the case you assigned to her. I already finished mine and I’m sending it over to my own to look over it.” Takanori then interjected.
Their favorite activity as well. Talking down on paralegals and other colleagues!
“Bro.. Himari? She’s doing absolute shit.” Absolute shit to the point Yuu had to break his formal way of speaking a little. “EXACTLY WHY I TOLD YOU TO NEVER ASSIGN IT TO HER.” Takanori exclaimed as he abruptly got up from his chair. “Every time I ask her about it she just looks me up and down and is like ‘Yeah I’ll get to it..’ Then she just walks off!” He then said as he crossed his arms together, pouting his lips out of bitterness. “Ohh really?. We always have a little conversation I guess..” Yuu said as he propped his chin right up on his hand. “Whatever though, her and her friend won’t leave me alone when it comes to my love life.” he then amended as he scowled. “Isn’t her friend a prude though.” Takanori said dryly. Yuu giggled at this as he knew himself to be the complete opposite. “Yeah that’s what I thought but she keeps looking at me.”
“Ew, yuck..” Takanori imitated a “bleh” noise as he gestured a throw up scene with his hands that emitted the sound of his wrist jewelry clinking together.
Yuu laughed,”Hey now not too much!.” Takanori scoffed at this,”That’s weird coming from someone like you.” The two continued to talk about silly little matters. Scandalous talk all the way down to meaningless shit, they basically confided in each other.
1:41 PM
“No Akira I just want to go home and SLEEP in my bed.” Kouyou barked while he held his phone up to his ear, slamming his empty coffee cup on the white circle table in front of the firm cafe repeatedly. “What? It’s surely not that bad now Shima… get a hold of yourself now—“
“NO! my new lawyer is so un-obvious and I had to go around asking a million people who the hell the legal secretary is..” He heckled as he bit down on his bottom lip out of anger. “Well that’s how it is working with other people..” Akira replied with, knowingly on the other side of the line.
He already knew how it was since he worked in healthcare.
Kouyou just stared into the oblivion, contemplating life, while he sat at the little corner table in the cafe. He was currently hearing the sounds of pots clanking together and all the clamor, meaning Akira was cooking something up behind the phone with the ambience of the AC and other lawyers around him chatting it up. Earlier, he heard some insane details he probably should have not heard from their little conversation but.. it had gotten boring and more factual so he tuned out.
“What are you cooking?” Kouyou asked as he lifted up the empty coffee up to his lip just to get a whiff of the yummy espresso that was now gone. “Spaghetti.” Akira replied with, clearly busy as the sound of boiling water came from the back. “Save me some..” Kouyou whined as he lowered the coffee cup from his lips. Akira sighed,”Yeah don’t worry I will- Also my shift tonight starts at nine so I won’t be home..” Kouyou’s heart skipped a beat for a second and he gasped,”Who’s gonna wake me up tomorrow then?…” He heard Akira deeply inhale on the other side of the line.
“Shima you have that ANNOYING ass alarm to wake you up, don’t fucking depend on me to wake you up. You can do it yourself.” Akira retorted with as he huffed.
Kouyou chuckled at this while Akira started cussing on the other side of the line telling him to start waking himself up. He knew that if they had this discussion physically though he definitely would’ve experience a jab to his arm. “Alright… fineee..” Kouyou then drawled, smiling faintly. His sleeping behaviors never failed to upset Akira and he was utterly amused by it. Sometimes he would even stay asleep on purpose until he got smacked just to fuck around with him a little. “Anyways I’m gonna go now, it’s almost two.” He then interjected as he got up from his seat. Walking over to the trash can, he heard the table of lawyers laughing.
Reminds me I gotta talk to Yuu..
“My work ends at eight, see you then?.” He then asked as he tossed his cup in the trash. “Yeah, maybe.” Akira supposed as he dropped the spaghetti noodles in. “Yay! See you.” Kouyou hung up the call. The loud noise of the firm on the first floor tuned in and he walked right out of the cafe.
So I’ve already finished four documents… this guy was so flat about it. Secretary had to spend a few minutes reading over each document to figure out which filing it went into but still..
He gave a few waves as he walked into the elevator. Pressing the number two on the keypad option, he stepped to the side.
Whatever. Not my business and besides, he’s just my attorney of course he’s going to be harsh.. uhm but what if it’s best the two build a relationship?. I’m working with him all the time aren’t I.
Another male coworker walked in before the doors closed. “Oh Mizuki! Did you finish the papers I assigned you?” They esclaimed, scooting to the side a little to stand next to their coworker with half-hearted apologies to the others who has to move out of the way. “Yeah, I just have to look over them before I submit it.” Mizuki replied with. Kouyou looked over to them and the way their body language was; he could tell these two worked together and had a close relationship.
That’s not fair! I know we barely met but all he did was pull me by the wrist and cuss at me.. be nicer please.
He pressed his lips at the sight of this and turned to look elsewhere while he sulked in silence.
He doesn’t even seem that mean, I think he’s nice. And sort of.. good looking.
Kouyou gasped at the thought of thinking another man looked good.
Uhm but.. he smells good I wish I could just stuff my face in the crook of his neck and keep it there!
“Anyway yeah, there’s like fifty active cases I’m working on so I’m sorry if I’m not able to stop by..” The man’s voice from earlier chimed. The elevator doors opened and Kouyou walked right out paying no mind to their conversation out of some unknown jealousy. Treading down the corridor to return to his office, his stomach grumbled.
Just about six more hours until Akira’s food!. Yay.
Continuing to walk down the corridor, he could hear a few meetings going on at the moment. “And that concludes are meeting for today, thank you for coming.” A faint voice came from behind two wooden doors in the hallway. Batting an ear to this, it peaked his interest. He scurried right on over and peaked through the little windows on the door. It was a meeting and he looked around a little to see…
Yuu…
With…
A BENTO?!!! OPEN THIS DAMN DOOR NOW.
The doors were pushed open and a few people from the meeting walked out. “You’re gonna stay in here still?” The voice from earlier inquired, speaking to Yuu. “Yeah, just to look over the papers and confirm everytbing for a bit.” Yuu replied with. “Oh, alright then.” The colleague walked out of the meeting room, awkwardly bumping into Kouyou. “Oh sorry.” They then said as they moved out of his way to. I was now nothing but mere silence. He then peaked his head through the doors a little.
He could see Yuu on the other end of the long curved table. He had his suit off, hanging on the armrest of the chair, and instead showed his long sleeved button down that was unbuttoned on the first three buttons. Staring at him and watching him go through some files in a black folder. He watched him take some out and organize them into little stacks, he was already busy— even if it was break. Kouyou had some sort of strange attraction to watching him work. Currently though, he was more focused on the bento he had with him.
That yummy beef bento that had been barely touched with a pair of chopsticks anchored on the rims of it,
how could Yuu not eat such a thing?
“I know you’re staring.” Yuu called Kouyou out with a little grin tugging on the corners of his mouth. Kouyou jumped from this and he looked bug eyed. “What?. Uhm well…” He looked elsewhere as he tried to think of a little story to tell him. “Come on in, I’m not that mean.” Yuu invited him as he gestured a little.
That could definitely be interpreted as a lie from that person he was on the phone with earlier though.
Apprehensively stepping into the big meeting room, Yuu put the folder down on the table and crossed his arms together. “So do you have anything to ask now?” Yuu asked as he watched Kouyou take a seat next to him. “Well I—“
Kouyou was interrupted by a loud growl in the empty meeting room coming from his stomach.
“..oops.” Yuu’s brows raised from this and he tilted his head a little. Kouyou laughed awkwardly,”hehe.. sorry…” he mumbled sheepishly. “Uhm alright then.. do you want some of my food?.” Yuu offered as he tilted his head over to the barely touched bento on the table. Kouyou’s eyes glimmered with hope at the mention of food and he instantly opened his mouth,”Yes please!!!”
Yuu moved the folder out of the way to grab his bento box. Greeted with the good smell of it that covered Yuu’s, Kouyou simply couldn’t help but drool. “Here,” Yuu said as he grabbed a few pieces of beef and rice on the chopstick,”open your mouth.” He was a bit taken back by this because he was quite literally feeding him but regardless, he took a bite. “That’s good!!” Kouyou spoke, muffled by all the food in his mouth as he clapped his hands together. Chowing down on his food, Yuu chuckled at the sight of this as he grabbed a few more pieces to feed himself. Swallowing,”Now I would like to apologize for my behavior in the hallway earlier, I would all of it from you~” He mentioned earlier with a rueful apology as he leaned in closer. “I said you could get some not all of it.” Yuu retorted with sternly.
It seemed that Yuu was serious about his food and didn’t like sharing.
“Ok fine.. just more, one more time!.” Kouyou begged of him as he got up from his seat. He tucked a few pieces of hair behind his right hair and he bent over a bit, opening his mouth. Yuu picked up some food from the bento,”What do you say after that?” He then said as he held the chopsticks up, away from Kouyou’s mouth with a smug look on his face. “Please..” Kouyou muttered as he held back some cuss words. “Good Kouyou!” Yuu praised him as he brought the chopsticks closer to his mouth. Kouyou kept his mouth shut at this and he narrowed his eyes at him.
What a weirdo.. if he was a girl though I definitely would’ve been up in that ass by now. Just take him to the most hidden bathroom in the firm now…
Kouyou bit down on his lip.
I’m getting too distracted here now! This guy would probably fucking kill me if he knew what I was thinking about him at the moment. I’m not a fucking pervert this is true honesty..
Surprise, surprise— Kouyou is not any different from Yuu.
“Mm.. you want me to eat instead that’s what you’re saying?” Yuu’s voice chimed, pointing out his silence. “No…” Kouyou retorted with as he reluctantly opened his mouth.
He had zero way of knowing what Kouyou had just thought about him in that moment of silence.
Without any warning, Yuu instantly shoved the food in his mouth, catching Kouyou by surprise as he jolted back a bit.
“Wow you’re dramatic.” Yuu said flatly as he watched him chew down. Kouyou plopped right back down into his seat as he looked at Yuu with a salty look on his face. “Your glasses are falling by the way..” Kouyou’s hands jumped up to his face and he readjusted his glasses. “Thank you.” He then replied with as he swallowed his food. “Anyway, what were you going to talk to me about?.” Yuu inquired as he took a bite of his food. “So I was going to ask about the legal secretary and papers you gave to me earlier..”
“Oh that’s right! Sorry if I wasn’t too clear on that, here take this though.” Yuu handed him the bento box so he could continue eating. Kouyou refused as he kept his hands low. “What? Isn’t it yours though..”
“I always eat before work so I don’t really need that much lunch.” Yuu replied with. Without anymore protests, Kouyou took the bento from his hand. He took a bite of the food as he continued to listen to Yuu speaking. “Now anyway…”
The two continued to talk about business matters for the remaining of the lunch. With Yuu answering every single question that Kouyou had. He was beginning to wonder how old this guy was if he looked so young yet knew so much about law.
“Well just be on top of your work and you’ll learn a lot from that!”
VAGUE.

8:42 PM
Kouyou now driving home from the firm with about twenty new fears stuck up his ass, he felt like collapsing into his bed. Now back with a full-time job and the worst of his fears— driving, he felt so done with everyone and everything. Adding onto that, not only was Yuu incredibly particular when it came to his work.. but he found out that he was basically ticking time bomb.
No wonder why that receptionist woman was so scared of him!
This guy would never leave you alone if you went over deadlines to what he was telling him and that made him a bit angsty about showing up to work. Knowing himself he liked to procrastinate often while he stayed hidden and mind his own business unless spoken to but to work with Yuu was basically a death sentence after he got to know him more. All the pestering, witty jokes, piercing looks, and even the random intimate moments like in the hallway example were enough for him to make his mentality crack. He didn’t really care if people came close to feeling his face since it was already known to him that he had such clear soft skin and received mass amounts of compliments from it— but to pinch it like Yuu did earlier? Only would he let Akira do that.
Walking up to his apartment door with a prolonged sigh and droopy eyelids, he pulled out his keys instantly like the well-organized person he was and twisted the lock open.
The apartment area was dim with only the kitchen light being left on. Kouyou walked over and he could see a little pot on the stove with a sticky note. Readjusting his glasses a little with blurred vision,”Have a good dinner but sorry Shima, I want be home for the rest of the week. I’ll be back by Monday, Love.. Akira.” He read it out loud with hoarseness. He felt his heart melt a little with the fact that Akira closed it with his love for him but he dread the fact that he wouldn’t be able to see him for a week. Silently crying to himself, he took the sticky note off the pot and walked over to the fridge. He then placed the pot in the fridge and stuck the sticky note on there instead. Not feeling the need to eat at all tonight, he plodded over to the bathroom to wash his face and get his nightly routine over with.
Collapsing into bed with just a T-Shirt and a pair of boxers, he instantly fell asleep.
Goodnight.
