“This is 430 there’s an individual in trouble in the water here on my sector, I’m going in to take them out”
“Copy that 430”
Within just a moment after making the report the lifeguard meaning station 430 jumps down from his post and runs into the water. A lifeguard’s whole profession is to ensure the order and safety of the beach and for that, they are trained for all possible scenarios. Afterall, they are expected to be the first responder to untoward goings under their watch. Lifeguard 430 displayed this in spades as he reached the distressed swimmer and brought him back to shore before he drowned. They reached shore safely and the man he rescued was thankfully other than being out of breath and in shock fine, much to the relief of his awaiting friends.
“Oh my goodness thank you so Mr. Lifeguard!!! I thought he was gonna die out there!”
“It’s ok I’m only doing my job, he’s fine but i suggest you guys return to your hotel rooms and rest now. He clearly needs that now after what just happened”
They obliged his advice while continuously thanking him profusely, despite having been on the job for almost a year now he still feels somewhat nervous when dealing with people thanking him. It’s not easy to completely shed away an introverted personality, but he has to persevere and so he simply smiles at them as they disappear back into the background scenery of the beach. Seeing this he breathed a sigh of relief before returning to his post and reporting back regarding the situation.
“This is 430, the situation has been dealt with the individual is safe and sound, and no further assistance is required”
“Dully noted 430”
After giving the needed update, his job for this particular situation is now done. However, before he can lean back on his chair, his radio crackles back to life.
“428 to 430”
“Yes 428 come in”
“Another well-handled situation there Freminet, man with exploits like these you truly are becoming more popular than me I'm getting jealous you know haha”
Hearing that Freminet could only sigh heavily to himself, before he came in the young man meaning station 428 Sethos was the beach’s most popular lifeguard. His lean but sturdy body, tanned skin, and lively personality made him quite the figure amongst beachgoers. Now however he has slowly overtook him for that title, sure he’s nowhere as outgoing as Sethos is. But, his almost pure white skin complexion, his more muscular and toned build, and his unmatched swimming talent have made him grow on the people rather quickly. He appreciates Sethos’ banter and has become somewhat of a friend with him, however he would rather he keep his mouth shut in moments like these.
“Sethos how many times do i need to tell you that this is not a competition, it’s simply what we do in this job”
“Haha I know i know, I’m just teasing you because i like your reaction that’s all 428 out”
With that the radio returns to its usual silence, and at last Freminet can relax and settle down after the previous situation. He grabbed his drink and leaned back, letting himself become more relaxed in the moment. As he does his mind wonders and quietly rejoices at how he finally now has settled into a stable independent life after so many trials and tribulations. From becoming an orphan as a little child, being taken into a caring but strict orphanage life, and then travelling with his magician adoptive siblings as a minor helper, it has been quite a journey indeed. Of course, he is forever thankful to the orphanage and his now siblings Lyney and Lynette for giving him a chance to live, but he is now happy to be able to live on his own.
RING RING RING
As if on cue, his phone began to ring on his desk. When he picked it up, he remembered something he had forgotten up until now.
“Oh yeah that………”
With that realization in mind, he picked up the phone to a very loud and familiar voice.
“Freminet my little brother! How’s it going? I hope all is as well as it is here”
“Hello Lyney, yeah all is good from what i can hear you’re at the airport now?”
“Yup! I’m with Lynette waiting for our flight there, i can’t wait to enjoy our time together again at last!”
“Me too, it has been a while. I hope i can give you and Lynette a great time here….”
And thus the two chatted on the phone for the next several minutes, catching up on recent events and going over their get-together plans for later. The mood was joyous as the two were happy with their current situations in life and were more than happy to share it with each other. However that is reserved for when they actually meet, eventually they hang up the call and Freminet return to his original position on his chair. When he does he realizes that the bright day has turned into dusk, and the blue sky is slowly turning orange. The end of the day is now near and with it the end of his shift on guard. Unfortunately for him, the day has one more trick to throw at him before it’s out.
BANG BANG BANG
“Hey you! Whoever is in there come out here and face me!”
A sudden banging and shout at the foot of his observation post brought him out of his moment of peace. He quickly realizes what’s going on, preferably he probably should call backup up to handle it. However, near the end of a shift like this he really doesn’t want to bring too much hassle to others. And thus he got up from his chair and down from his post to confront whoever was disturbing him at this time.
“Hohoho here he is that so-called lifeguard”
“Anything i can help you with sir?”
Surveying the area Freminet found a man about his age and size staring him down, around him are a few other men which he assumes are the friends of the man staring at him. Silently he bemoans having to deal with something like this at a time like this, but something he begrudgingly has to do whether he likes it or not.
“You see, the girls around here have been praising you for how good-looking and brave you are and i am not having any of that. I should be the one they’re talking about not you!”
“Sir I don’t think this is as big an issue as you think it is”
“It is in my mind!”
“Sir this is not necessa-”
BAM POW
Before Freminet could finish his sentence out of nowhere the man attacked him, caught by surprise the man hit him with a body punch to his stomach and an uppercut to his chin. The punches caused Freminet to reel back a few steps from the force of the impact as oohs and aahs can be heard from the man’s friends. When he steady himself and looks back up he can see the man looking smugly at him as if he has won already.
“This is how you wanna play huh? Well i will admit those punches hurt a bit”
He thought to himself as he straightened himself up again, powerful it might be he has been through worse so this sure as hell won’t take him down.
“Well sir you’ve left me with no choice here”
“Ha! Let’s see you say that again after this one!”
SWOOSH
The man attacked again but this time he saw it coming and dodged successfully leaving the man to punch nothing but air. Now seeing an opening he wastes no time to give the man his retaliation.
WHAM WHACK
In one swift move, Freminet got up from the dodge and hit the man’s stomach with his knee. Immediately after he follows it up by clocking the man across the face with his elbow. It all happens in only about 3 seconds, way too fast for any regular human being to react to. The hits all register on the man who right after loses his balance from the force of the impact. Freminet uses this opportunity to grab him, spin him around, and then slams down on the ground subduing him down on the sands of the beach.
Seeing this the man’s friend simply scattered away in fright, thankfully the lifeguards on the closest posts to Freminet’s also saw the confrontation and radioed in for the police to be called. Afterwards, they rushed to Freminet to render assistance in keeping the man subdued. It didn’t take long before the police arrived and secured the man away into their patrol car, after taking Statements from Freminet and other witnesses they left saying their farewells and thanks. As Freminet watched them leave he felt a tap on his shoulder, he turned around to find Sethos standing behind him.
“Well well well, saving one man from drowning and knocking out another into the sands, quite a shift you’ve had Freminet haha”
“I suppose that is right Sethos, you can say it’s all in a day’s worth or however they say it”
“Man, we should hold a fighting tournament to measure our abilities in handling rascals. I bet you and I would do really well in such a contest”
“Are you trying to say you can beat me in a fight? Well you can try but it won’t be easy”
Hearing that Sethos could only laugh while patting his shoulder several more times. After a short moment, he began to laugh with him awkwardly. In that moment he realizes that although he enjoys his new independent life, it’s not by any means perfect. It has many trials and tribulations of its own, but he has now started to get used to it now persevering through it all with a smile. Indeed he will have plenty to tell his adoptive siblings when they arrive here by plane in 12 hours, all as life always finds a way………
