"You know, in all my time I've never met someone so stupid," said Owen Carvour, MI-6’s best and most qualified agent. In front of him sat Curt Mega, A.S.S’s supposedly best agent, tied to a chair, grinning sheepishly at the taller man."Just doing my part to keep things entertaining. You're welcome," Curt replied with a cocky grin.Owen rolled his eyes and sighed in feigned exasperation, “You realize this was not part of the plan, right? Getting captured by the enemy?”Curt shrugged nonchalantly, despite the ropes restricting his movements. “Hey! It’s all part of the thrill, Cavour! Besides, I knew you’d come to my rescue,” He smirked.“Of course,” Owen scoffed as he kneeled beside Curt to get a look at what he was working with. The person who had tied him up had definitely done a good job at making sure he’d have a difficult time at escaping, “Because if I didn’t, you would find a way to mess things up even more.Curt chuckled, looking down at Owen, watching his focused expression, “You know me so well.”"That's the problem," Owen muttered under his breath, though there was a fondness in his voice that he couldn't quite hide. Not that he wanted to. He focused on the knots securing Curt’s wrists to the back of the chair first, hands deftly working to loosen the ropes, “You know, you could put effort in evading capture.”Curt grinned cheekily, eyes filled with amusement, “Where’s the fun in that? Besides, now I get to spend some good old fashioned quality time with my favorite person,” He waggled his eyebrows playfully.“If by ‘quality time’ you mean risking both of our lives because of one of your reckless stunts, then sure.”“Just admit it, O,” Curt teased, wincing only slightly as Owen pulled a little too hard on the rope, probably to get back at him, “You’d miss my antics.”Owen paused, looking up to meet Curt’s gaze, a tenderness in his eyes he only ever let show around Curt and only Curt, “Mm… Perhaps,” He conceded under his breath, focusing once again on the task at hand. He almost had it.“Atta’ boy,” Curt chuckled, groaning in relief as he felt the ropes drop. He rubbed at his wrists, before standing and stretching out his arms, “Besides,” He continued. “You need someone to keep you on your toes. Or else you might get a little rusty.”Owen huffed as he got back onto his feet, dusting himself off. “Well you certainly excel at that.” He nodded, voice dry, despite not being able to keep a smile off of his face.“Glad to be at your service,” Curt snickered, as he stepped over the corpse of the man Owen had taken out. He made his way towards a table at the other end of the room, where his weapons had been discarded. He looked over his gun, cocking it, before turning on the safety and shoving it in its holster.“Do try to be more careful next time, love,” Owen crossed his arms, watching. He kept occasionally looking around, keeping an eye out.Curt grinned as he headed back over, shrugging, “You know I can’t make any promises. But I’ll try to keep the villainous kidnappings to a minimum,” He spoke, reaching out to take Owen’s hand, “But hey. It makes for a great story, doesn’t it?”“Yeah, a great story with absolutely unnecessary risks and far too many explosions,” Owen remarked dryly, though there was a slight hint of entertainment. He didn’t pull away from Curt’s touch, instead intertwining his fingers with his; a small gesture that spoke volumes for the two. It was enough for them. For the moment, that is.Curt leaned in closer, his voice lowering playfully, "You're my knight in shining armor, Cavour. Always coming to my rescue.”“And you’re a perpetual thorn in my side,” Owen quipped, as he squeezed Curt’s hand, their eyes meeting.Their banter, however, was quickly interrupted by the sound of distant footsteps echoing down the corridor outside the room. Owen frowned, body tensing ever so slightly and pulled his hand away, “We need to move, Mega. Now.”Curt nodded, sobering up as his hand was released from Owen’s. With practiced and installed efficiency, the two checked their surroundings one last time before slipping out into the dimly lit hallway, staying close as they walked, both keeping an eye out for any movement or threat. They moved swiftly, relying on years of training and unspoken communication to anticipate each other’s moves. Owen led the way, his senses alert for any sign of danger while Curt covered their rear, his gaze flicking back and forth as they made their way towards the exit.As they approached a junction, Owen pulled Curt by the arm into a narrow alcove, watching as a pair of guards made their way past. The spies held their breaths, until they deemed it safe enough to keep going. They crept their way through the seemingly endless corridors and halls, until they came across an exit. Owen cautiously pushed open the doors. They emerged into the cool air of an October night. But just as they stepped out into their supposed freedom, a spotlight shone directly onto them.“Stop right there!”Owen cursed under his breath, letting Curt pull him to cover behind a nearby crate. The two were surrounded, caught in a standoff with at least twenty armed guards closing in.Owen glanced at Curt. Said man met his gaze, unwavering, “Well this could have gone better.”As the guards closed in, Owen subtly reached for his concealed weapon, preparing for their next move. Curt mirrored his readiness, eyes locked on Owen's with unwavering trust.“Ready?” Owen asked quietly, a slight grin on his face.Curt nodded, a glint of determination in his eyes, "Always."
