She woke with a startled choke, she didn’t remember passing out but she must have done so anyway, the agony was unlike anything she had ever experienced and she’d shredded her own throat with the screaming early in the process of having flesh mended and replaced.
She looked down at her body raising a hand as far up as she could with the restraint locking it to the table and took in her now black flesh- no, not flesh.
She took in her now shiny black metal, her whole body now having a blocky almost industrial look to it with a hint of elegance, her hands and forearms being a deep unfathomable black fading into a gorgeous cherry red on her upper arms and torso, her head is probably the same red, she looked down and shifted her legs to properly view them.
Her feet and shins shared the black and transitioned upwards, the biolights upon her body glow a pleasing green colour before her eyes, pulsing in time with her heart- or would it be core? After all, she doesn’t have a heart anymore…….
It quickly becomes apparent to her that something is wrong, other than the expected pain she looks at her arm again, colour, so much of it.
And she begins to panic because her plating is not white, not the angelic purity of heavenly white to denote her as an Angel as she had hoped to become, she can remember who she is, her father, the bastard who birthed her, her brother, all of it.
“Demon…..” her head snaps to the side at the voice and she sees the one who will doom her to death, the same one who had made her into this thing, he was tall, smooth rounded plating all clad in glistening white with glorious golden armour covering up his biolights, his fins upon his head also sheathed in armour of gold.
And beneath those golden V fins upon his head lay his piercing bright blue eyes, the eyes she would have shared…… then again she supposed she could have blue eyes. Unlike Angels, Demons can have different coloured eyes to their biolights, she can’t see her own eyes so she won’t know what colour they are.
Above his head is a golden halo hanging vertically with nothing to support it, it rotates lazily with a cold glow about it, she had always thought the halos of DivineSmiths which they have in place of wings to be quite pretty, but now she sees them for what they really are: target reticles.
She begins to thrash and struggle against the table she is bound to, the restraints holding down her arms creaking and groaning as she flails about, her legs kicking uselessly in the air as she tries desperately to free herself, in the distance she can hear doom approaching, the sound of wings of metal slicing through wind and she panics more and more, electrified terror flowing hot through her tubes and wires, as does the burning pain of the surgery that still lingers in her very sensitive biolights, underplating and whatever it is she has protruding from her forehead, be it a singular horn, several horns or fins she doesn’t care at the moment, she has no idea how to use them to sense yet.
A loud SNAP rings out and the bonds on her arm crack apart and she immediately uses her now freed arm to yank at the remaining chains on the other, when they too split open and release her from her surgery table; coated in thick drying blood as it is, she immediately rolls from the table and falls to the ground beside it.
The impact rattles her frame, and pain lights up through her, she tries to stand and fails for several attempts, she is off balance and can’t figure out why until she looks behind her and finally sees her wings, a beautiful red fading to ominous black at the sharp angular tips, the six wings give her a menacing figure, two hang low by her thighs, two more spread wide at her sides and yet two more reach above her head, their place connecting to her spine through her wing pack allowing them free rein to shift about and fold around her from their mounting arms. She can vaguely feel the mounting arms on her back, blocky and strong as the rest of her frame, each arm holding three of her six wings, a bottom, middle and top for each, the disconnection hinges tingle as her wings slowly gain life, eventually she can detach these wings to use as weapons, shields or even storage…… assuming she survives long enough of course.
But she has no time to properly focus on them right now and finally stumbles to her feet using the table as a stabiliser for a moment she begins to stagger her way to the door, experimentally flapping her wings and shifting about her hidden thrusters when she can finally figure out where they are hidden in her limbs and body, the ceiling cracks open with a loud boom and she is thrown back down to the ground again.
She hurriedly takes a knee and looks behind herself and up through the dust and debris of the shattered roof and freezes, she sees there, hanging lazily in the air with thick, angular white war plate and sharp golden armour, a menacing horn display not too dissimilar to a reindeer and six wings so sharp she wouldn’t be surprised if he could use them as swords, like her DivineSmith this Angel has a mouth guard, something she currently lacks, and in his hand is a long grey pole which has an angular and pointed head at the tip shaped like the wing of a bird, from which a beam of pure bright blue energy is erupting, the weapon being recognisable to her as a laser lance with a hinge at the head to convert it into a beam scythe, she wouldn’t be surprised if there was an energy axe configuration to that monstrous weapon.
The Seraphim above her glared down at her, his bright baby blue eyes, the same colour of his weapon’s blade and his subsequently his hidden biolights doing nothing to make him any less terrifying, and he speaks to her “you are going to die abomination, and Zephon: Guardian Of Fear, shall be your unmaker.”
She stared up at him for a long moment and promptly scrambled to her feet again and swiftly fled out the door, sprinting as well as she can with her balance ruined as it is, her thrusters and wings instinctively activating in short bursts to grant her moments of increased speed that she desperately needs, she hears the Seraphim drop to the ground in the operating room with a metallic thud as thick legs slam into the ground, with his bulky ’boots’ crushing debris into powder beneath them and she hears him take off after her, sprinting much faster than her stumbling and thruster bursting, a loud thud, thud thudding echoing out in the corridors behind her as she desperately looks for an exit, if she can just escape into the ruins of the cities then she has a chance but it’s looking less and less likely by the second.
Suddenly the Angel is upon her, shoulder charging her into and then through a wall into the outside, concrete crumbling and bricks collapsing from the force, her metal creaking ominously as she is sent flying screaming through the air, slamming into the side of an old broken building with the mouth of an alleyway beside her, dazed from the attack and slamming into the wall she slides down to the floor, her wings screeching while they slide against the bricks and mortar she is laying against.”You know your attempts at freedom are hopeless” the Angel’s emotionless voice cuts through the air and the ringing in her ears as he stalks towards her, his weapon glowing through the dark, she reaches out and scrambles in the rubble to grab anything, getting her hand on a brick she looks up at Zephon she can’t help but ask “why didn’t I turn out like you…?” The Angel stops for a moment clearly not anticipating such a question “you failed the mark, you failed the final test, and now you shall be punished.”She slowly stands up, hiding the brick behind her back, leaning against the building behind her “but is this really the only way?” “What other way would there be, abomination?” She stands tall, having finally fully regained her balance and for a moment she thanks whatever god could be listening that she used to do running and parkour as a hobby “this” and she winds back and lobs the brick at his face, it collides and immediately turns to dust from the force, Zephon’s head snaps back and he stumbles backwards for a moment. She takes this opportunity to take off like a bat out of hell down the alleyway and deeper into the city, her wings folding in on themselves to form a makeshift armour on her back while reducing their profile allowing her to run faster without the worry of smashing them into the walls. She can hear him take to the air behind her and follow from above, as she hoped he would. Angels have spent their whole existence with wings, that they can remember at least, and as such occasionally forget that people without wings need to get by as well, so he’s taken by surprise when she turns righ and slides out of the alleyway, sparks erupting from where her feet scrape against the ground and sprints down an open road until she drops to the ground sliding under a broken semi truck and into another alleyway that was hidden behind it.She heard him follow over the truck but by that point she had already slipped into a back door to an abandoned clothes shop, quickly closing the door behind her and taking off further into the building, trying and eventually succeeding in dimming her biolights and sliding behind a counter, dropping low to the ground and trying to regain her breath as she faintly heard the angel flying further into the distance, still searching for her. After a few minutes she can hear nothing so she slowly and shakily sits up against the counter and let’s her head tilt back until the back of her head lightly thumps against the wood of the counter and she breathes deeply before exhaling slowly “fuck” she mumbled “this isn’t going to get any easier is it?”
