||CHAPTER ONE||The drive from your old town to your home town, Forks, WA, felt like one of the longest drives you’ve ever endured. The different towns, counties, and states all blurred together into a constant reminder of how much of a change this was. As you got closer, the atmosphere shifted from sunny warmth, fresh open air, clear skies, to dreary, rainy, damp, and cloudy. You suddenly snapped back to the present, seeing the welcome sign to Forks.“Honey are you awake?” your mom said softly, looking back at you from the front passenger seat. You huffed, shifting in your seat. Everything felt… colder. You reached for a button, turning your seat heater on max.“Yeah, mom, I’m awake.” You grumbled, shifting in your seat again.Your mom smiled at you softly. “You know, moving back won’t be tough forever, Y/N. You’ll get used to it, and reconnect with old friends. Don’t be so.. Gloomy.’You frowned. “This entire town is gloomy, mom. My bad for matching its energy..” You huffed.Your mom turned around in her seat, to which you were thankful for. You had moved away from Forks when you were 11. You were devastated when you moved. It wasn’t hard, though. To adjust to a new town at that age. But now, you’re 16. It would be much harder to fit back into your old friend groups, now. Everyone has grown up.You shifted your gaze to the window. You were driving through a familiar street. Your dad pulled the car into an even more familiar driveway.“Surprise,” Your dad mumbled“Wait, there’s no way.”Your mom smiled. “The house was up for sale. Your dad and I knew that we couldn’t pass on it.You smiled widely at the sight of your childhood home. The once brown house now painted white, green sheetrock instead of the blackish grey you remembered. The stone pavement had replaced the old gravel where you’d given yourself many scraped elbows and knees in your younger days.“Oh my gosh, this is perfect.” You said, fumbling for the handle to the door.||CHAPTER TWO||The house was very similar to how you remembered it, only a few things had changed. You wandered upstairs, to your old bedroom. There was now hardwood flooring, instead of carpet. The old clutter closet had been turned into a small walk-in closet which you were grateful for. All your furniture would be delivered soon enough, and you’d be able to feel at home again. You heard the faint hum of a vehicle pulling into your driveway. You looked out your window, which faced the front lawn, to see a dark red truck sitting in your driveway. A boy with long, very deep brown, basically black hair, climbed out of the driver's seat. You squinted, trying to make a connection to who this boy was. The boy went to the bed of the truck, grabbing a wheelchair as he moved to the passenger side. He helped an older man, around the same age as your father, out of the truck and into the wheelchair.“That must be Billy and Jacob Black,” You mumbled to yourself. You walked to the upstairs bathroom, just a room over from your bedroom. You quickly fixed your hair, checked your breath and looked to check for food in your teeth. You straightened your sweatshirt and sweatpants, and walked downstairs to the door. You peeked through the window on your door one more time, opened it, and walked outside.Jacob instantly fixed his gaze on you. You looked away, awkwardly, and walked over to your parents.“Y/N, you finally came outside! You remember Jacob and his father, Billy Black, right?” Your mom said eagerly, smiling at you.“Oh, yeah, of course I do.” I smiled.Jacob walked over to you, smiling. “Hi, I'm Jacob.” He smiled again. “We used to make mud pies when we were little,” Jacob laughed.“No, yeah, I remember.” You smiled again.Jacob cleared his throat, nervously looking at you “It’s been awhile, you know. Since we saw each other last. Do you want to take a drive, catch up, maybe?”You looked at your parents, then back at Jacob. “Yeah, sure.” You smiled, nodding.Jacob looked at his father.”Go ahead son, I’ll catch up with Y/D/N and Y/M/N.” Billy smiled, rolling over towards your parents. The three started to chat, and Jacob gestured for you to go to the passenger side. He opened the door, and shut it once you sat down. He opened the driver's side door, getting in. He started the truck, the faint rumbling starting again. He backed out of the driveway, and onto the road.”So, are you happy to be back?” He asked, looking at you. His deep brown eyes met yours for a split second, before he turned his head again to look at the road.Your heart fluttered for a second, you cleared your throat. “Uh, I guess so.” You said.”What’s that supposed to mean?” He said laughing, turning to face you for a second.”It’s just, I moved when I was young, you know? It’s gonna be harder to fit back in with my old friends. Wait, you go to Forks, right?” You said, a glint of hope in your voice.Jacob shifted in his seat. “Ah, no. I go to school on reservation, remember?” He said, almost a little disappointed too.”Oh, yeah, right.” You said, sighing. “It would’ve been nice to have known one person.”Jacob smiled at you, and you continued to talk. “But yeah, I mean, I guess it’s not too bad to be back. I’ll miss the sun and the heat. My old friends..” Your voice trailed off.Jacob’s hand moved off of the wheel, patting your shoulder very gently before quickly returning it to the wheel.”I’m sure you’ll fit in just fine,” He said softly.”I really hope so.”

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

||CHAPTER THREE||When you returned back home, Jacob followed you back inside. Your father and his were on the couch, watching a pre-recorded football game. You smiled at Jacob, and he smiled back at you.“Dad, are you ready to go?” Jacob asked, feeling awkward standing in your house.”If you want to leave we can, son, but it’s almost halftime.” Billy said, still staring at the screen.Jacob sighed, accepting the fact that he would have to stay longer.”Uh, I can show you my room, if you want. There’s nothing in it.. but yeah.” you said feeling awkward, too.Jacob followed you up the stairs, and to the left side of the small hallway. You opened your door, and stepped inside. Jacob followed you, his eyes scanning your room. He cautiously walked over to the window, looking outside at your front yard, he looked inside the little closet, and then circled back to you.,”This is nice,” he said softly “when will your stuff come in?”“Uh, I think tomorrow or later tonight. Something like that.” You smiled.Jacob stared at you for a few seconds, his eyes scanning your entire face, looking down at your neck, and then back at your face. He shook his head slightly.“I’m glad you moved back,” he said, brushing his hair away from his face.Around half an hour later, Billy and his dad left. You went up to your room after grabbing your pillows and blankets from the car. You lay down on the floor for a little while before you drifted off to sleep. You woke up around three hours later, at 6:29 pm. You heard another vehicle down the street. You got up from the floor, rubbing your arms. Sleep marks marked your arms and the right side of your face. You walked to the window, seeing the UHaul truck parked on the street. You rubbed your eyes, and went downstairs to start getting things moved into the house.Around 10:47 pm you had gotten all the furniture moved in. You went up to your room, pushing your bed frame from the top of the hallway to the open door of your room. you rested the bed frame against your door frame and took a breath before fitting it into your room. you arranged the rest of your room, and got done an hour or so later. You looked around your newly decorated room, and lay down on your freshly made bed. You sighed, getting comfortable, and drifted off to sleep.||CHAPTER FOUR||The next morning you woke up, a little later than usual. You fumbled around in your bed in search of your phone. 9:21 am. You sighed, getting up out of bed. You stretched your arms out, and looked through the pile of clothes sitting at the foot of your bed. You grabbed another pair of sweatpants and a hoodie. The majority of your clothes were t-shirts and leggings, a lot of t-shirts. Your current wardrobe lacked clothes that would keep you nice and comfortable in the cold wetness of Forks. you decided to send a text to Jacob.Hey, you down to drive to Port Angeles? I need clothes. You waited patiently, taking your clothes to the upstairs bathroom across the hall from your room. You walked in, set your phone down and started the shower. After about half an hour, you were done. You dried yourself off, wrapping your hair in a t-shirt. You checked your phone, seeing a message from Jacob.Yeah, what time were you thinking? I’m not busy all day, so whenever you’re ready to go I’ll come pick you up.Uh, give me about thirty minutes, okay? You replied, smiling at your phone. You dried your hair off, making sure it wasn’t too frizzy. You brushed your teeth, and used some perfume. Soon enough, you heard the faint rumbling coming closer from down the street. You checked yourself in the mirror one last time, making sure you looked okay. You left the bathroom, told your parents where you were going, and walked to the door. Your hand was on the doorknob, pushing the door open slowly as you made sure you had all of your things. You pulled the door open and walked forward, running into something. Or someone. You looked up, shocked, as Jacob had his hand up to knock on the door. Your face flushed, embarrassed, and you apologized. Jacob stood for a moment.”Don’t worry about it, Y/N. Are you ready to go?” He said, brushing a strand of hair out of his face. You nodded. “Yeah, I’m ready.”Jacob backed away from the door, walking to his truck. You got into the passenger seat, and sighed with relief as the warmth of the truck hit your skin.Jacob got into the driver’s seat, smiling. He backed out of the driveway, and you began your short trip to Port Angeles.”So, you need new clothes, huh? Not enough parka jackets and ski pants in your wardrobe?” Jacob teased. You rolled your eyes. “All I have are t-shirts and like.. leggings. Not really fit for the drizzly cold weather of Forks. The rest of the drive was pretty quiet. Jacob offered some commentary about the scenery, to which you agreed, smiled, and nodded. You finally got to Port Angeles, and Jacob parked in front of an outlet mall.“So did you need a chauffeur or a shopping buddy,” He smiled.”If you want to come in, you can. I didn’t really think you’d be into shopping,””Well I’m usually not, but we can spend some time together,” Jacob said with a smile, making eye contact with you.You smiled, a flutter in your stomach. You opened the door, he turned the truck off, and got out with you.You shivered slightly as the breeze crept on the back of your neck. You walked into one of the stores, Jacob following behind you. You looked through the racks of clothes, nothing really interesting you. You finally laid eyes on a really pretty navy blue crewneck. You looked at it, the inside fabric was soft. You found your size, and held the hanger with your wrist.”Here,” Jacob mumbled, his hand brushing your wrist as he grabbed the hanger and held onto it.His touch sent a shiver up your arm, goosebumps appearing. “Thanks,”You continued to look through the clothes, picking out a couple more things before checking out.The two of you walked through the other stores, occasionally going to Jacob’s truck to put bags inside. After three hours, you were done shopping. Your feet were tired and so were Jacob’s. He sighed as he sat down in the truck, holding a bag of clothes he’d picked out for himself. You soon fell asleep, waking up an hour later to Jacob whispering your name.”Y/N? Hey, we’re at your house,”Your eyes fluttered open, you yawned, covering your mouth with your hand. You smiled at Jacob warmly.”Thanks for the ride Jake,” you said sleepily, the warm smile still on your face.”Of course, Y/N.” He said smiling, brushing a strand of your long hair from your face. He quickly pulled his hand away, scratching the back of his head.“Anyways, do you want me to walk you to your door or..” Jacob said, his eyes meeting yours.“Uh, you really don’t need to,” you said, looking back between his eyes and your door.“Alright,” He said, opening his door.He then walked over to your door, opening it for you. He waited for you to step out before opening the back door to grab your bags of clothes. He effortlessly lifted the many semi-heavy bags and carried them to your door. You walked over to your door, sliding past him to open it. He smiled at you, walking inside and through the living room and past the kitchen.“Do you want help-?” you asked, raising an eyebrow.“Don’t worry,” he smiled at you, chuckling softly “I’ve got it.”He walked up the stairs, turning left to your bedroom. He opened your door with ease, setting your clothes down on your bed.“Finally got your stuff, huh?” He said, looking around at your room.“Yeah, my things finally came. You can look around if you’d like to,” You said, your gaze fixed on him.He looked around your room, he looked at the walls, observing the artwork and photos you’d hung on them. He smiled ever so often, seeing something he found entertaining.“I like it, it’s very you.” He said, smiling at you.You smiled back at him, the two of you staring at each other for a few seconds.“I would stay longer, but I’ve got to head back to my place. Maybe we can hang out tomorrow, hm?” He said, smiling, brushing his hair behind his ear.“Yeah, that sounds nice.” You smiled at him, widening your eyes.Jacob wrapped his arms around you lightly. The interaction was quick, but when he pulled away you could feel your cheeks flush. You looked at him, his face was also slightly flushed. Just barely noticeable. He walked out your door, waving at you before going downstairs. you heard the door shut quietly, and the sound of his truck starting. You were still in shock, your whole body warm. You remembered the smell of pine, coffee grinds, and tobacco on his shirt. Your face flushed again, and you shook your head, trying to collect yourself. You lay down in bed, deciding that a nap would be nice. You checked the time, 1:45 pm. You closed your eyes, and drifted into a heavy sleep.

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

||CHAPTER FIVE||You woke up, your body felt fuzzy, your eyes not wanting to open. You stretched out your legs and arms, swinging your feet over the edge of the bed. 4:52 pm.“Oh.” you mumbled. You decided to lay down until dinner was done, not wanting to leave the warmth of your bed that reminded you of home. Your mom eventually called you down for dinner. Throughout dinner, you were spaced off. Your mind revolved around Jacob, his tall figure, gorgeous black hair, his wide shoulders, his muscles…“Y/N, are you okay? You haven't been talking. Is something bothering you?” your mom asked, a neutral look on her face.“Yeah, I just don’t want to go to school on monday, not very excited.” you half lied.“Oh, alright, I see.” she replied.A few hours later you settled into bed. You’d changed into your new pajamas, they were black silk pajama pants, and a matching top. A little red bow sat at the middle of the top, and at the middle of the pants’ waistband. You felt your phone buzz, and grabbed it from off of your nightstand. It was a text from Jacob.Hey, Y/N. I was thinking and just wanted to apologize. I hope I didn't make you uncomfortable earlier. Are you okay? You were a little shocked, you felt bad for Jacob. You knew he had probably been overthinking it for a while.Hey Jake! No worries, I wasn’t uncomfortable at all. Just in shock is all, anyways yeah I’m okay. I’m really sorry you upset yourself about that,Don’t worry about it, I’m glad we cleared things up. Jacob messaged back. You smiled. Me too.You texted a goodnight message, and set your phone back onto the nightstand. You were soon asleep, your bed warm, fog building on your window. That night you had many dreams, but they all had one thing in common; Jacob. You woke up the next morning, your blanket half-way off of your bed, your hair had fallen out of the ponytail you’d put it in. It was now tangled. You blinked slowly, trying to focus on your ceiling. You remembered your dreams from last night, and shoved your face into your hands, embarrassed. It would be hard trying to contain your thoughts today. You grabbed your phone, checking for texts. There were two from Jacob.Hey, Y/N, we’re still hanging out today right?I assume you're still asleep. Text me when you wake up, okay? Sleep well. You smiled, texting him back.Hey Jake, yeah, sorry, I was still asleep. And yes we’re still hanging out. Don't ask me where, just take me. You can pick me up in like an hour, okay? See you then. You rummaged through the even bigger pile of clothes, trying to remember what ones Jacob had liked more. You picked out a white crewneck and a pair of jeans, they were dark wash. You smiled, walked to the bathroom and began your shower. You scrubbed your face even harsher than usual. When you emerged, you only had half an hour left until Jacob would be there. You used your lotion, scented like vanilla. You even used your expensive body spray. You wanted to smell amazing. You did your hair, putting it into a half-up half-down style. You smiled, and put on some brown mascara and used your vanilla chapstick. Once you were ready, you went downstairs to get something to eat. After about five minutes, there was a knock on your door. You were surprised that you hadn't heard Jacob’s truck, but quickly walked to the door and opened it.You were captivated as soon as Jacob filled your gaze, his long, black hair had been brushed neatly. He wore a black hoodie, with a pair of khaki shorts that flattered him.“Hey,” you managed to get out.Jacob looked down at you, smiling as you made eye contact. “Hey, Y/N.”“Come in,” you mumbled.Jacob chuckled, and raised an eyebrow “Is something burning?”“Oh shit.” you ran into the kitchen, shutting the toaster off. You pulled your burnt waffle out, smiling sheepishly.“Well from now on, I’ll just have to be the one to make you breakfast, hm?” Jacob teased.“Ha-ha, very funny. I didn't mean to burn it, they only burnt because you came here at an inconvenient time. So really, it’s your fault.” you smirked.“Oh, really, is it now?” Jacob chuckled. He walked over to you, grabbing the burnt waffle. He threw it into the trash. “I’ll take you to get some breakfast, okay? Then we can go find my surprise,”You smiled at Jacob, he smiled back. His gaze was fixed on you, his eyes roaming from your face and all the way down to your socks.“I like your outfit, it suits you.” he said, clearing his throat.“Thanks, Jake.”He led you outside to his truck, eagerly getting the door for you, He drove you to Carver Cafe. The two of you walked in, and he looked around. You studied his face, and noticed that his eyes clouded, his body tensed slightly. You looked in the same direction as him. The only thing you noticed was a girl, and a man who looked like her father sitting down at a table. The father, who was wearing a police uniform, was eating bacon. The girl, pancakes.“Hey, Y/N, wait here. I’m gonna catch up with a friend.” Jacob said, not waiting for a response from you.You frowned, crossing your arms. You looked at Jacob’s face, a wide grin spread across it. He was smiling as he was talking to the brown haired girl. She got up, and wrapped her arms around him in a very friendly embrace. You felt a pang of jealousy course through you. You waited for another minute, but Jacob was still talking to the girl. You shoved the door open, making sure it was loud. Both the girl and Jacob looked over. Jacob apologized to the girl, gave her a goodbye hug, and walked to the door. You went to his truck, opening the door and sitting in the passenger seat. You slammed the door shut, huffing as you stared through the windshield, seeing Jacob walking out. He came over to the truck, throwing his arms in the air before he opened your door.“Y/N what’s your problem?” he said, seemingly annoyed.“Nothing Jacob.” you said, rolling your eyes.“Then why the hell did you just storm out of Carver’s and make a whole scene?”“Maybe because I was hungry and you’d been chatting with whoever that girl was for like, fifteen minutes.” You said, looking away from him.“Jesus, Y/N. You can’t be serious. Bella is my friend. I’ve known her for even longer than I have you,” He said, frowning.“So I’m sorry that you're jealous or something, But Bella means a lot to me, too. Do you still want breakfast?” Jacob asked. His expression was now dull. Before he'd seen this Bella girl, he looked at you with adoration. Now, he looked at her that way, throwing you to the side.“No,” you choked out, “I honestly want to go home.” you said, trying to hold back tears.“Jacob sighed, getting into his truck. He slammed the door shut, turning the key in the ignition. The ride home was silent. When you arrived, he didn’t even pull into your driveway. He didn’t say anything to you, and as soon as you’d gotten out, he drove away.||CHAPTER SIX||The next few weeks were devastatingly horrible. You’d started at your new school. All of your old friends remembered you but none of them wanted to be friends with you. They all avoided you and ignored you. Every day, you sat alone at lunch. But the worst of it all, was seeing her. Bella. You hadn’t known that Bella was a student at Forks high school. Even more unfortunately, she was in the same lunch with you. She sat at a table with a lot of the other juniors. They were all popular.Every day began to feel worse and worse than the last. Jacob hadn’t contacted you in nearly two months. You began to let yourself go. You stopped trying to look good at school. Often days your hair was hardly brushed. You had dark circles under your eyes. Your parents began to question what was wrong with you, but you refused to say anything.Another month went by. One night, 2:16 am, you received a text.I’m here, Y/N. Open the door. Please. You walked downstairs, disoriented. It was raining. When you opened your door, Jacob was standing there. He pulled you into a hug, his damp sleeves sticking to your skin. You stood still, in shock before pulling away. You looked at Jacob's face. His eyes were red, puffy. His lips looked a little swollen.“Jacob, what the hell are you doing here? You haven't spoken to me in three months and now all of a sudden you show up at my house and try to act like nothing even happened? What the hell.” you spoke angrily.Jacob winced. “Y/N.. I’m sorry. I’ll explain but please, let me in.”You frowned, but let him inside. You went into your room. “Don't sit on my bed with your wet clothes.” you said, annoyed.Jacob swiftly took his hoodie off. He wore a black t-shirt underneath. His sweatpants were not wet, so he sat down on the other side of your bed.“Y/N. I know.. What I did was wrong. You’ve got to understand, though.” he inhaled deeply before explaining to you.“Bella first moved back here about.. seven months ago? When she did, I had a little crush on her. But then she started talking to some guy. I hadn't talked to her much after that. So when you moved back, I felt like I had someone to be a best friend again, you know?” he paused. “But then I saw her in the cafe… and it was the perfect opportunity to be able to say something to her. So really, Y/N… I didn't mean to hurt you.”You stared at him for a minute.“So you mean to tell me that the entire time we'd been hanging out and we’d been friends you were only doing that to fill some hole in your chest that missed her? Jacob thats fucking pathetic. You can't just believe that I would accept a lame excuse like that.”Jacob winced, his expression hurt. “Please. I will find every way possible to make it up to you.” he said, reaching for your hand.“You’re just saying that, Jake.” you scoffed, pulling your hand away.“No, Y/N.. no I’m not. I swear with every fiber of my being I will make it up to you…” He said, looking into your eyes. You stared back, his gorgeous brown eyes begging, pleading with you.You sighed. “Fine, but I swear.. if you screw up once.., we won't stay friends.”He smiled “okay, okay. Let me start.. with this?”He shakily moved his right hand to the left side of your face, brushing your hair behind your ear as he did so. His touch was gentle, your breathing hitched, your body tensed. He leaned in very slowly, trying to make sure your body language wasn't resisting him. His face hovered in front of yours. You could feel his light breaths against your lips. You looked at him, and he closed his eyes and gently touched his lips to yours. You instinctively shut your eyes too, your body melting into his touch. You both moved closer to each other. He wrapped his left arm around you, stroking your hair gently. A few seconds later you both reluctantly pulled away. You looked at each other, but you had one last question for him.“Is that how you feel about.. Bella?” you asked quietly.
