It had been a week since he broke his rule; since her kindness, her care, shredded his resolve. It had been a week since she'd stopped herself from grasping him, since she once again respected his boundaries. It had been a week since he growled at the lack of touch, pulling her hand back down to where they both wanted. Since he moaned at her thorough caress, at her mouth owning him top to bottom. It had been a long, long week since he'd had her to himself. * * * The Inquisition's retinue made their way through the gates of Skyhold. Inquisitor Emma'lah Lavellan rode in a carriage with Ambassador Josephine Montilyet, Seeker Casandra Pentaghast, and First Enchanter Vivienne de Fer. Josephine and Casandra debriefed and complimented Emma on her surprising success at the Winter Palace. Vivienne took to pointing out major faux pas the Inquisitor had made, things to avoid in the future, more tactful ways to navigate situations.“How many more of these will I have to attend?” Emma groaned as her head flopped against the cushioned seat.“Once the Breach is gone? Quite a few, I suspect. We may send you off before then.” She chuckled. “With all you did wrong, you really did catch the hearts of potential investors.” Vivienne said. “You mean allies?” Cassandra fussed.“Those too,” Vivienne smiled at the seeker. The carriage slowed to a stop as the door opened. The women filed out, muscles sore from the journey. The couple had barely made eye contact before Vivienne ushered the Inquisitor off, shooing Solas just as Dorian linked arms and guided him away. * * * Solas waited in the Inquisitorial suite. Dorian had bathed him, fed him, then sent him off to slip into the private quarters while Varric distracted the visiting nobles. He now sat on one of the sofas, more nervous than he had ever remembered being.I shouldn't be this nervous. He thought. I've had lovers before. But none he'd bestowed the title most sacred. None who held his soul so securely. The door creaked. Solas was off the couch and across the room before it shut. He didn't see his Heart psych herself up, her nerves just as on edge as his. Vivienne had dressed her in a simple green, gown; causal enough for home, elegant enough to not offend their visitors. Gripping the polished wooden handrail, she called, “Are you in here?”Her soothing voice fueled his pulse. “I am, Vhenan.”Every ounce of nervousness dissolved when her head crested the landing. His need for her in his arms overpowering all other thoughts. Before she looked up he pulled her in to an embrace. His lips were soft and insistent. She leaned into his hand upon her face. She let out a soft moan when his firm hand traveled to her lower back.Their sweet embrace of reunification sparked and sizzled into kisses of desire, of a deep, vibrant need. Her fingers danced their way to his round, firm ass. She wanted to bite it. She wanted to devour him.Emma pulled him to a sofa. She pushed him down as he hiked her skirt using it to guide her to straddle him. They touched and moaned and groaned for each other. Within minutes, they had stripped each other on the couch. Well, as much as she could remove his clothes. His pants stayed firmly on. He sucked her breasts while she went under the fabric, her hands where she wanted her mouth to be. She felt his moan around her nipple as she worked him. Her mouth went to the ends of his long ears, biting and sucking them the way he loved. She was trying to make him cum. This couch is not where he wanted that to happen. He scooted to the edge of the couch, pulling a gasp from her and she worked him harder, faster. He didn’t tell her to stop, didn't want to tell her to stop.He smoothed his palms down her thighs, taking hold behind her knees, and picked her up off the couch. She let out a laugh and grabbed his neck to keep from falling.“Kiss me, Vhenan.” He begged her. She happily obliged, taking the opportunity to work his pants down to his ankles. He jostled her into him and he kicked off the fabric shackles. He carried her to the bed, climbing on using his knees and crawling forward. She pulled away from his lips, and he growled, then smiled at her. She let out a giggling shriek as he tossed her to the center of the large, soft bed. Her grin was just as wide.He prowled his way closer, stopping and lowering his head, her hooded eyes locked to him.  He looked to the feast before him
Fuck going slow.
He licked and sucked and nipped. He gripped the fat of her hips, using her softness to pull her closer. He slid her legs over his shoulder, and reached a hand out for one of the pillows. He had to release her from his mouth, and his ask guttural, “Please, give me one Vhenan.” He placed it under her hips, to help keep her angled for his tongue go deeper, the other hand massaging her clit.He played with her, edged her, until she clawed at the sheets and shouted his name. She came around his tongue, soft and savory and definitively her.She petted his head as she caught her breath. He took his time traveling from her apex to her lips. All there for him, only him, to grab and hold. She was made for his hands to touch.  For him to hold while inside her, while making her sigh and moan and scream his name. His tongue trailed over her mons, reveled in the fat of her stomach, his fingers gliding up her sides, her delicious love handles. He suckled her nipples and kissed up her neck, hands palming her peaked breasts. He teased a kiss to her lips before pecking kisses up her cheek, his breath warm against her ear. “What do you want of me, Emma'lah?” He took the lobe between his teeth, tugging on the sensitive spot. Her name on his lips sent shivers through her.Her hands were exploring the muscles of his stomach, his chest. Gripping the strength in his arms that now bracketed her. She'd longed for this. She wanted him. All of him.She could see the length of him where he knelt between her thighs; long and thick, a pillar of pride for her. She reached down and stroked it, his gasp sent fire down her spine. His mouth was on hers, his hands pinned her hands next to her head.“Please.” She begged, arching her hips into him.“Patience, Vhenan,” he teased, lowering himself against her heat.“I've had plenty of patience.” She groaned. “I need you, Solas.”The plea that was his name. He was a thrall to that plea, that voice. * * * She’d had never had anyone feel so godsdamned perfect. He was made for her. She felt amazing. Perfection. Hit every part of her. And it was him. Him. His body, his skin, his lips and soul. That fact, that it was him above her, spiked her over the edge. Creators bless him he followed the lead her body had taken. He praised her told her to let go let her body do what it wanted, needed. He shorted his strokes to his the spot deep within her, continuously putting pressure on her clit. He kissed her breast and bite her nipple, heightening her pleasure. She pulled his mouth back to hers, his pounding now fast and hard sending her into another wave. She came faster, harder than either expected. He kissed and praised her. Praised her body. Sweat sat on her brow, her panting and shaking from him. “I’m. . . I’m sorry,” she began.Solas laughed, still feeling her tightening around him, “I’m not.” She let out a huffed laugh back. He asked, “I know I said it'd been a while... how long has it been for you?”“Don’t make fun of me.” Her bashfulness confused and enthralled him.“I am not. I'm genuinely curious.”She is quiet, her mind flitting to insecure paths. He thrusted slowly, intent to bring her back to him, drawing a moan from her. He whispered “It is okay if you don't answer, my heart.” “6 years.”“That's… seriously?”She smacked him “I said don’t make fun!”“I’m not I promise.” He began to adjust their positions, her mind still in a place of quiet fear.“There wasn’t anyone who drew my interest. I mean, it had been almost a year before that one off and...” He hooked her knee over his arm “What are you doing?”He leaned down to her, grin nothing but male deviousness, “I’ve got seven years to make up for, now don't I?” He dove into her mouth. He had her pinned, using his leverage fuck harder, deeper, grinding against her clit longer with each thrust. Why did I wait this long? He kept thinking to himself. He didn’t put her on her knees. Not yet.He wanted to watch her stomach tighten, her breasts bounce. Watch her beautiful mouth sing for him. She is heaven. She is his. They needed a mirror. * * * Hours had passed when Solas retrieved food for them. Vivienne stopped him on the way back from the kitchen, placing a pile of papers on the tray he carried.“Cassandra tried to deliver these herself about half an hour after you two had disappeared.” She said, a knowing glint in her gaze.“Much appreciated.” Solas replied, wondering why the circle mage protected his and Emma's time together. As if she knew his thoughts, “Bastien always hated receiving reports so soon after returning home.”Solas couldn't help his blush as he nodded another thanks to the First Enchanter. She understood them better than he realized. He returned to his love, who had turned into a snoring puddle on the bed. * * * Devouring a cinnamon roll from the hallboy turned baker, Emma nestled into his side. They made a game mocking the proposals sent to her for the commander's hand.A question kept circling within Solas' mind. He nipped at his lover's ear, vying for her attention. She laughed and turned to him, stopping his next nip with a kiss. She laid her head back on his shoulder, looking up at him.“May I help you?” she smiled at him.“I'm curious,” his grin impish.“About?”“Who was this last person? The one who turned you off other people for six years?” “It's not like that!”“Uh-huh.”“Really! I told you. I was already not seeking anyone out.”“And they were the final, awful nail in that coffin?” he teased, tickling her sides. She squeaked and gave him a light smack, “Stop!” she couldn't stop giggling. “Why do you care?”“I don't care. I'm just curious.” He nuzzled and nibbled her neck, bringing about more giggles.“You first! Why 'has it been a while?'” she was trying so hard to distract him.It didn't work. “Lost in the Fade. You're turn.”She resisted the urge to hit him with a pillow. “I don't even remember his name.”“So it was a 'he.'”“Yes it was a 'he.' With long, dark brown hair, bright violet eyes, and a vallaslin to Mythal. Satisfied?”It couldn't be. He shrugged, “No.” He took the decorative pillow to the face like a champ. Their laughter bounced off the walls to the mountains beyond. She let out a teasing, exasperated sigh, leaning back against him. “It had been about five years since the blight had ended. The town I was in at the time was having a huge celebration coinciding with Satinalia.”“Festive.” Another pillow smack.“Do you want to know or not?” her smiled never dimmed.“Ir abelas, Vhenan.” He made an apologetic face, placing a hand over his heart, eyes glimmering with mischief. She pointed at him, scrunching her face, an imitation of intimidation. He booped his nose against her finger, then kissed the tip.She grumbled at his adorableness and continued. “I was with some friends, enjoying the celebration at a niceish tavern. They had gotten up to dance so I was all alone at our table. Drinking. Munching on the food. Watching them be absolute goofballs, when I saw someone lean against the wall. I didn't think much of it until this voice says 'Why aren't you moving that beautiful body with them?'” Her impression was taunting, leading.Solas scoffed.OF COURSE it was Felassan. Of course it was his smart mouthed general. His second closest friend of which he'd shared many women. And that line? He used THAT line? The line that he only used on women he wanted for himself? The line that signaled to Solas to back the fuck off? THAT line??“And that worked?” Solas asked her.“I was pleasantly buzzed, thank you very much.” She intertwined their fingers.“Good to know.”Of. Fucking. Course. Jealousy fired hot and heavy through him. This is one woman he would have never let anyone else touch.“I saw he had a Vallaslin, and felt oddly safer? 'Another Dalish set away from home, longing for touch.'” Solas was incredulous, and one glance at his raised brow sent her backtracking. “Okay, maybe not that last part, but still!” He laughed at his Heart's honesty, pecking a kiss to her flushed cheek. “We started chatting and one thing led to another led to the alley behind the tavern.”He felt an easing of shame at what Fen'Harel had done to the man, followed fast by a surge of guilt. It wasn't Felassan's fault, not in actuality. He didn't know who she was, who she would become. He saw what Solas did, when it came to the divine creature in his arms.“It wasn't remarkable by any means, but it was no nail in a coffin,” her nonchalance to his internal struggle was comical.“Wasn't remarkable? That’s a bit harsh.” They had shared tips, he and Felassan. What had the other male done that she found so unremarkable?Solas saw the satisfied smile pull at Emma's lips, “He was no you.”An old, old pride, old, hidden ego flared to bright, burning life within him, dousing that jealousy and guilt. The two men had teased and wagered with each other over who was better in bed. That he was his Vhenan's choice, that she found him so alluring… He wished the male still lived so he could rub the information in his sarcastic face. She played with their hands, looking only at their intertwined fingers. “I feel so silly.”Solas was jolted out of his preening by her meekness. “Why?”“Because... While it wasn't anything special from other's I'd been with... There was this feeling of... Sense of… more that I couldn't shake. That something was coming to me. For me. Anyone else who tried after that,” her shrug said it all.His heart clenched. “Vhenan?”She pulled her hands to her face. “I know! I know it's silly and stupid and I'm probably just making things up because I . . . I know, okay. It's not real it's not—” he kissed her, soft and loving, pouring every ounce of feeling he had into soothing her.“I do not think you are silly or stupid, my love.” He made sure she was looking at him, running his fingers through her hair. “There are many things about the universe, about the Fade and beyond that we cannot explain.”“I thought it was the anchor. The mark on my hand mixed with the mage who saved me but,” her pause slew him. He knew exactly what she meant.“But you couldn’t escape that pull?”“Exactly.”“Did you feel sense that before him?”“No.”“I do not know much when it comes to fate, but I am glad he set you on a path to me.” Her eyes dropped for a moment, a light blush coating her cheeks, her ears, even the tops of her breasts. “And,” her beautiful eyes returned. “I am honored beyond belief to know that I eased that sense within you.”“It completely disappeared the moment you touched me.” Her voice was a whisper. She knew he had felt it too. She'd seen that when he took her back to Haven within the Fade. He felt that shift, that pause in time. That everything. His arms tightened around her. She felt a sob escape him as he kissed the back of her head and buried his face in her hair. She heard him speaking old tongue. While still learning the intricacies, she would swear she heard him say with a reverence she'd never seen before:       “You remind me who I am.”

[[Years later, after the events of Veilguard and time living within the Fade.]]
The prison had bended to her will without hesitation. Their vast garden of regret held flora from all over Thedas. Vines draped those precious memories they weren't ready to forget. Snowdrops led to her families' aravel. A weeping willow stood tall over those regrets he fought most fiercely. They walked a new path. Hydrangeas bloomed in the hundreds around them. He stopped to pick some for her, urging her to continue.“I'll catch up.” His smile was a constant on his face again. She kissed his cheek, doing as he bade. Her mind was off in it's own world, seeing the beauty around her but not processing. That was, until she stumbled upon a new-to-her fixture, and froze. She knew the male depicted. Knew the hair in the bun was long, dark brown. Knew his eyes were a light shade of violet. Knew his tongue tasted of whiskey and cinnamon.
What. The. Fuck.
“Vhenan?” She shouted over her shoulder. He ran to her, his original plans forgotten.“Are you alright?” his eyes scanned her for injury.“Why is he here?” she pointed at the statue.Confusion coated his face as he looked. His color blanched, “Okay. So,”She cut him off. “You’re about to tell me something you’ve known for a while?”He nod was the definition of sheepish. She inhaled and gestured for him to continue.“This is Felassan. He was one of my generals. And close friend.”“I see. And when did you figure this out?”“The night you told me.”Where his color evaporated, hers reddened. “Cool. Coolcoolcool. Were you ever planning on telling me?”The laugh slipped out before he could stop it, “Not really, no.”“Why not?”Now was his turn to blush as their escapades flashed through his mind. “Many, maanny reasons, Vhenan.”Her eyes narrowed, but she didn't push. “What is it you regret with him?”He rubbed the back of his neck. “I killed him.”“Because of me?”“No! No. It was over a year before I met you.”“Might I ask why?”“He failed Fen’Harel.” His eyes shut and he took a deep breath. “He failed me.”He felt her warm palm on his cheek. His eyes fluttered open to her loving gaze. “I am here for you, Vhenan. Always.”He pulled her into a gentle embrace. They continued their walk as he opened his history to her waiting arms yet again.
