The couple swung their feet as they sat on the platform on the statue of the goddess. Their hands intertwined gently, but firmly to reassure themselves that they wouldn't be ripped away from each other again.Link watched lovingly as Zelda gazed into the sunset. Hair shined like gold in the beautiful orange light. He was nearly breathless. She really did look like a goddess in this heavenly glow. His daydream ended when Zelda's eyes flashed gold and she released a horrified gasp."Zelda!" Link cried worriedly as he frantically pulled them away from the edge.He held her close as tears flooded from her eyes. His heart raced in fear when a sinking feeling of powerlessness crept into his chest."Lord, my God, please forgive me!" Zelda sobbed. "How could I forget you?"Link let tears fall. Tears of confusion, fear, sadness, anger, helplessness. Her words pierced his soul and he felt something shift in the atmosphere. He felt a presence. A comfort. After a while, Zelda's sobs calmed down. The sun was only peeking out of the horizon."Thank you," she whispered softly, still curled up in Link's arms."Zelda?" He swallowed and felt the tips of his ears grow warm when he realized his voice had cracked. She looked up at him in surprise with red rimmed eyes to match his own."Oh Link..." Her voice shook with a wet laugh. "I'm okay."She wiped the tears off his cheeks and placed a kiss on his forehead."Come on, Sleepyhead. Let's go get cleaned up, yeah? I'll explain what I saw later."
"Zelda?" Link asked he sat down next to her on his bed. "I felt something er... someone up there with us. Do you know what that was?"Zelda's eyes sparkled with joy. "You felt him?""I think so?" Link tilted his head in question. "Who is he?""He is the one who is above all. The one true God. He created the universe and everything in it. He is all powerful, perfect and good. The most amazing thing is that he loves us." Her voice was filled with awe and amazement as though she was hearing these words from someone else or for the first time."He created the gods?" Link was baffled."Yes. The beings we called "gods" are lesser deities that he created. They must bend to his will and obey his command. He has authority over them. Hylia was serving him as she watched over the this land.""Even Demise?""Yes. The Demise is different though. He is greatly fallen. He seeks to become all powerful and destroy us whom God loves. He brought evil to this world and we were all affected. Mortals and deities. But God has already set his plan into motion to save us from the Demise."Link nodded slowly piecing things together. "He was what you remembered back there."Zelda nodded with a grimace. "It seems our people have forgotten him. I hate to think that I worshiped some lesser deities, one of them being myself. Oh that's really weird! I didn't remember until now. I guess my memory of my time as Hylia hasn't fully returned.""You said he was powerful enough to command the gods er... deities and create this entire world." Link stated. Zelda nodded. "And he cares about us?""Yes. Even though we forgot him and did many wrongs against him. He still loved us. He loved us so much that he sent his son Jesus, who is God in the flesh, to die for our sins. He took our punishment so we could have eternal life with him and be called his children."Link ran a hand through his hair. Guilt rose within him as he mulled the new information over. It doesn't sound right. Someone else paid the price for his own wrong doing because he loved him that much."It doesn't sound right." Link voiced his thoughts.Zelda sighed in understanding. "Yeah. I feel that way too sometimes. It was his mercy and love and he is just. But, Link listen! This is the good news! The Son has risen again and now he is seated in honor next to the Father and the Holy Spirit has been sent to live within us! If you accept him and believe. He was the one you felt."And when the Son comes again he will end all the suffering of this world and create a new heaven and a new earth where his children will live forever in joy and peace with him."Oh! There's so much more I could say about him, but I know that this is only the very beginning of knowing who he is. It truly is mind blowing." Zelda explained with a fiery passion that Link could clearly see in her eyes.Link smiled his own eyes sparkling with childlike wonder. He had seen her passion before but never to this level and given that he lived his entire life with her as his best friend he knows she's telling the truth.
But it's not just her. This was the only real hope he could hold onto. The evil and death of this world won't last. The whole thing sounds a bit crazy, but he's seen crazy."It is." He agreed.Zelda locked their gazes, eyes widened in surprise. A grin blossomed on her face. She bounced where she sat on the bed with barely contained joy."You believe?" She asked softly.Link felt the atmosphere shift again and felt a weight lift off his shoulders as sparks ignited in his soul."I do."
