Steve was a man of discipline. A man of routine. A man who took grocery shopping very seriously. Which was why he was determined to ignore the warm body currently plastered against his back, distracting him as he scanned the shelves of the cereal aisle.

“Buck,” Steve muttered under his breath, his ears turning pink as he felt the unmistakable squeeze of a metal hand on his backside. “Do you
mind
?”

“Not even a little,” Bucky replied smugly, nuzzling his face into Steve’s neck. “You’re just so grabbable, Stevie.”

Steve sighed, exasperated but secretly thrilled. “We’re in public. People are staring.”

“They’re staring because Captain America has the best ass in Brooklyn,” Bucky whispered, lips brushing Steve’s ear.

Steve’s cheeks flushed a deeper shade of red, and he quickly grabbed the nearest box of cereal to give himself something to do. “If you don’t knock it off, I’m going to make
you
do the shopping next time.”

“Joke’s on you, punk. I don’t even know what half this stuff is,” Bucky said, smirking.

Steve turned to give him a pointed look. “You’ve been in the 21st century for
years
now. You know what cereal is.”

“Sure,” Bucky said, leaning in to kiss Steve’s cheek, which earned them an audible
awww
from a nearby elderly woman. “But you do it so much better, sweetheart.”

Steve groaned, turning back to the shelf and resolutely ignoring the soft press of Bucky’s lips on the back of his neck. He loved the man, he truly did, but Bucky had no sense of shame these days. Not that Steve minded—well, not
really
. After decades of hiding, he wasn’t about to tell Bucky to stop showing him affection. It just…took some getting used to.

“Do you want Frosted Flakes or Cheerios?” Steve asked, holding up both boxes.

“Don’t care,” Bucky said, slipping his arms around Steve’s waist and resting his chin on his shoulder. “As long as you pick.”

“Frosted Flakes it is,” Steve muttered, tossing the box into the cart.

They made their way through the store, Steve pushing the trolley and attempting to focus on the shopping list while Bucky kept finding new and inventive ways to distract him. At one point, Bucky held up a jar of Nutella and insisted Steve explain its purpose.

“You
spread it on bread,
Buck. It’s not complicated.”

“Why not just use butter? Or jam? Or both?”

“It’s chocolate hazelnut spread. It’s supposed to be sweet.”

Bucky frowned thoughtfully before dropping the jar into the cart. “I’ll try it. But if it’s terrible, you’re eating the whole thing.”

By the time they reached the checkout, Steve’s face was a permanent shade of pink. The cashier gave him a knowing smile as she scanned their items. “You two make a cute couple,” she said kindly.

“Thanks,” Bucky replied, grinning. “He’s the cute one, though.”

Steve buried his face in his hands as Bucky laughed, clearly enjoying his embarrassment.

Their next stop was Starbucks, which was always an adventure. Steve ordered their drinks—an Americano for himself and a caramel macchiato for Bucky—while Bucky stood so close behind him that he could feel the warmth of his breath on his neck.

“Bucky,” Steve hissed, trying to ignore the curious glances from the baristas.

“Hmm?” Bucky hummed, pressing a kiss to the side of Steve’s head. “What’s up, sugarplum?”

Steve turned his head slightly to glare at him. “Can you just…stand
normally
for five minutes?”

“Nope,” Bucky said cheerfully. “This is
normal
now, Stevie.”

Steve sighed as their drinks were called, and Bucky took his with a casual “thanks, doll” to the barista, who looked entirely too charmed.

As they walked out of the shop, Steve shook his head. “You’re impossible.”

“And you love me for it,” Bucky said, slinging an arm around Steve’s shoulders.

Steve glanced at him, his heart swelling despite himself. “Yeah, I do.”

Bucky grinned, his expression softening. “Good. ‘Cause you’re stuck with me, punk.”

“Forever?” Steve asked, his voice teasing but his eyes sincere.

“Forever,” Bucky replied, pressing a gentle kiss to Steve’s temple.

Steve’s cheeks turned pink again, but this time, he didn’t mind. Not one bit.
