Metamorphoses (The Worm)
In my many minds eye I see
Simultaneously, the past and future
Further even than
The far reaching sight of
My stone burner blinded father
And his cursed sister,
Born before she was born
Of the life water
In the darkness of a Sietch.
I am utterly alone,
Even Ghani is gone
She died millenia ago.
As I change I have done
What my father could not,
Holding humanity captive
For their own sake
In rigid stillness and brutal peace
This is my metamorphoses
Into Monster, Tyrant,
And God.
When it’s all said and done
They will hate me,
A visceral feeling,
Down to their bones.
Their instincts will tell them
Run, Run,
And
never
come back—
But they will be
alive,
Scattering unseen across the universe.
