----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
It was a beautiful night in a place called KittyTown.
KittyTown was a place where all cats lived and hanged out together every day and night, even while doing their cat behaviors and hobbies.
There are domesticated cats, wild cats, and even prehistoric cats.
An adult cat couple are making tuna casserole for dinner while their two kittens play with their toys.
A sabretooth tiger is working at a butcher shop, giving out free samples of Ice Age Meat.
Cheetahs are being rewarded with medals after running in a marathon.
A senior cat is hanging out at a resident's place where she and her friends knitted blankets and hats that are made of cat yarn.
Kittens are at school doing recess in a cat-based playground which are filled with scratching posts at some parts.
Right now, it's nighttime, which means all the cats are sleeping.
All except one.
"Waaaaah"
A tiny kitten cry echoed through a small gray house where a cat couple is sleeping in their bed.
They're the Gatos, which meant the word "Cat" in Spanish.
His name's Ken, and he's a gray and white shorthair with white spots on his body, with circle markings on each side of his face.
Her name's Cleo, and she's a brown tabby cat with stripes all over her body. She even has crescent stripes on her forehead, and she has a pink nose.
One of them woke up so peacefully that she even purred so quietly so her beloved husband can't woke up.
She walked through the hallway, stretching her arms, and made her way to the room where their baby is.
It's been almost 8 hours since she gave birth to a little baby girl, and she was born almost a month early.
When she told her husband the news about their baby, he told everyone excitedly throughout the neighborhood that he was going to be a dad. He would talk to their baby, feeling it kick against his paws, and even telling their baby that he would be the greatest dad ever.
About 45 days later into her second trimester, she felt a pain in her belly and she knew that it was time even though it's was too early. Ken frantically drove her to Kitty hospital and forced to stay at the waiting room while he waited for the baby to be delivered. It had been a very painful labor for Cleo, but her kitten was finally born, and she was worried her baby didn't make it. The kitten survived the birth and Cleo was able to hold her little girl in her arms for the first time.
The doctors explained to her that her baby might developed health problems while she grows, but she knows that she will be strong.
Cleo named her Kayla, and her husband also loved her since he held her in his paws, noticing how small she is.
She was then out of her thoughts when she heard the cries getting louder as Cleo opened the door to the baby's room.
Cleo walked toward the crib and looked down at her baby. She smiled as she saw her beloved daughter cooing at her, her white front paws curling while laying down.
Kayla was almost like her father, except her right ear is brown like Cleo's and her left ear is like Ken's. She has two spots on her chest, which made it rare for kittens to be born with them. She has black stripes on each of her arms, her legs are white, with her back paws a light gray, and her tail was puffy with some white spots almost to the tip.
She then picked Kayla in her arms, rocking her gently while humming a little lullaby to comfort her.
She walked quietly through while humming, and noticed Kayla was getting a little fussy. She knew that she was hungry, so she walked to the kitchen where kept all kinds of food for cats.
Cleo opened the fridge and grabbed a bottle filled with kitten milk.
She then walked to the living room and sat on her rocking chair, dimming the lights out so that the glow in the dark stars glow bright and gentle as the night.
She placed the bottle nozzle in the kitten's mouth and she started suckling.
Cleo smiled at her little girl. Kayla's arrival to the world may have been a little scary for her, but she knew that her daughter will be as strong as a lion as she grows up.
"Honeypot?"
She was snapped out of her moment when she saw Ken standing right in front of her.
"Shhhhh, you're gonna wake her up."
"Oh, sorry." Ken whispered quietly. He walked to Cleo and sat beside her and Kayla, who was finishing her bottle. Cleo lifted the kitten to her shoulder and patted her on the back, waiting for her to burp. As she did, she put the bottle down on the table and rocked her in her arms.
Kayla fussed a little after her feeding, so Cleo purred gently to get her daughter to sleep. The kitten laid on her mother's chest, her purrs being like a white noise to her, and she mewed cutely.
"She's perfect." Cleo smiled.
"Just like you." Ken said as they kissed.
As they looked at their baby, Kayla yawned, her little tongue poking out as she curled up in Cleo's arms and fell asleep.
Ken reached out and petted her left cheek. "You sure we got this, Honeypot?" Ken said, his voice almost having an edge of worriedness. "Even when she grows up?'
Cleo smiled.
"Kayla will always be a shining star to us, Ken." She crooned, looking at her husband and their baby. She leaned her head on Ken's shoulder.
"She always will be."
The couple hug each other while looking at their daughter, their purrs almost putting them to sleep, and KittyTown was peacefully quiet at night once again.
For Kayla, her whole life will change as she grows, and she will always be a shining star, and that's the truth of herself.
