BeerBeer is, in his never so humble opinion, the best thing that humanity has invented in all his long history. He has his favorites, some of which aren't made any longer for lack of the right flavorings, others which have changed over the centuries. There are some, too, that he doesn't care for at all.And of course he brews his own, when he has the time and the space to do so. That is the best beer of all, shared liberally with his friends, and always his favorite flavors of what he can find.Yes, beer is the best.ErrorPerhaps, he thinks, one of his worst errors was staying with Kronos as long as he had. Never mind that it took as long as it did to leave because it took that long to stop being entirely angry at the world. Not to stop being angry, that took many centuries longer, but at least then he could focus his anger better. Let himself be angry at Kronos, or Caspian, or others. Not mortals.(There are still places they whisper of the god of death, and he tries his best to avoid them. They remember his face even millennia later.)AdvantageHe has the advantage of the feral child that is Kronos's latest student, even with the handicap his brother has imposed on him. Only a short sword, no secondary weapon, and limited to the space of the salle's central circle. The boy has died three times so far, and is trying for a fourth, with Kronos entirely too amused by the whole thing. He wonders how long this one is going to be kept at Kronos's side before he learns enough to survive others of their kind, particularly the kind for who amassing a head count is their life's goal.ScienceThe advancement of science, and the technology it makes possible, are both a boon and a danger. Computers make keeping his journals easier, especially when he has to move abruptly. They also make the need to move abruptly that much more likely. And it has become more difficult to keep people from connecting his lives together, and tracing him through time. Both current lives and his long, long history. Eventually, he suspects, it will be impossible to hide from mortals, and he's not sure what he'll do then.Oh, he'll survive, but the how of it is increasingly more complicated.LegIt will be the latest leg of a long journey, and he is looking forward to it more than he expected. Enclosed, crowded spaces isn't usually what he thinks is a good idea, particularly not for long travel. But it's the only way off this planet, to see somewhere new. And there won't be any troublesome Immortals aboard with him. Only Kronos and Xanthia to accompany him into the stars.Well, them, three hundred mortals, and all the makings of a permanent settlement on what they hope will be as good a new planet as it looked from a distance.
