Rook stared Solas down as he stood and she tried to push herself up, gripping the dagger in her hand. “Oh, but I want to fight you. Have you even a clue why Varric chose me, Solas?” Rook said, making Solas take pause and turn his upper body in her direction. Willow “Rook” Lavellan. Of course, Solas had never bothered to learn her name. He’d never even asked, even when he was pretending to be semi-kind to her. “You’re a Veil Jumper, you are as studied in the Fade as well as I. Don’t make this harder than it has to be, Rook. I do not wish to fight you.” Rook stood, limping two steps forward as she watched Lucanis and Davrin flank her, but keep their distance. “That is not why Varric recruited me. It was never over some trivial Elvhen relic. It was because I had a score to settle with you as much as any in the Inquisition. Though I hardly believe you would remember me.” She said, crossing her arms Solas scanned her with his violet eyes from head to toe, but no revelations came about his features. “You were not a part of the Inquisition. You couldn’t have been, you were but a child.” He argued. “See, this is where you are right. I was only a child of twelve at the time.” She said, readying one of her own daggers at her side. Before she could even ready her own dagger, Rook was suspended in mid-air, and Lucanis and Davrin and Assan were moving, but Rook smiled down at him. “My name, Dread Wolf, is Willow Lavellan.” She said, falling as Assan distracted him enough to break his concentration. When Assan, Davrin, and Lucanis were knocked back by Solas, he hadn’t noticed Willow now stood just at his side, and when her fist connected with his jaw, he flew a couple of feet before landing hard in front of the fade rift he had opened. Willow looked back at Lucanis and gave him a sad smile before cutting her left palm, and then stabbing Solas in the shoulder. She dragged him backwards towards the Fade rift. “You left my sister bare-faced. Cullen had to pick up the pieces you discarded so easily. This is my price for your treachery, Solas.” She whispered into his ear as they were both pulled into the Fade, and everything went black. When Willow woke, she was lying in soft grass, looking up into a midnight sky full of stars. Everything hurt, her hip, her pride. Why wasn’t she in the Fade prison? That’s the question that bubbled to the surface of her mind just before she realized she couldn’t hear anything, no crickets, no nightly noises or any noise whatsoever, and she shot up to sit. Willow reached her hands up to her ears and was taken aback to find them rounded as a humans ears would be, and though she felt herself gasp, she didn’t hear it . Solas was lying in the grass next to her, still blacked out. And the dagger she had yanked out of his shoulder as they were pulled into the Fade lie in four pieces between them in the heather grass. Standing, Willow let the damp grass ground her bare feet and she closed her eyes, took a deep breath… and then kicked Solas in the leg hard enough that he jolted up, but she didn’t break her bare toes. His ears also flat, and Solas glared at her with his unswollen eye, and started talking to her, but she couldn’t hear him. Willow furrowed her raven brows, tossing her really long black hair over her shoulder to snap her fingers by her right ear, doing the same on the left. She had lost her hearing completely. The realization struck her hard enough she almost fell back, but Solas caught her gently by the elbow, and gave her an incredulous look, as if he didn’t understand what was wrong with her. She did know how to speak, but she couldn’t control her volume when she said “I can’t hear anything, Solas.” And crossed her arms against the slight chill of a brisk wind that picked up and turned to face away from Solas, looking up and not recognizing any of the constellations in the sky. The moon was also strange here, full and bright, but too far from them. A tear slid from her eye and she angrily wiped it away. Willow came to the realization she was stuck somewhere else . This wasn’t even the Fade. Where did they go?
