The winter winds whipped the freshly fallen snow through the low hanging branches and Una pulled her cloak tighter around her shoulders. She pulled her scarf higher, so it covered her nose and all that remained revealed were her penetrating blue eyes. She watched as his horse led him slowly to where she stood, and her gaze rose to meet him as he stopped before her. "Una," he spoke, an air of familiarity in his tone and she reached out to stroke the tawny horse's neck."Ragnar, it has been long since you have been in these parts," she commented, and a small smile tugged at the corner of his lips."And am I no longer welcome?" He queried and she smiled to herself."You are as always welcomed but it raises the question of why now you venture here," she said and held to the reins as Ragnar dismounted."I think it is clear," he replied, and she looked down as he reached out, pressing his dirt covered hand against her robust stomach."He kicks as though he commands an entrance into the world," she remarked, and he laughed quietly."He will come soon, his father is here now," he assured and lowered his lips to hers, embracing her warmly."And Lagertha?" She asked when they parted, and Ragnar shrugged."She is in Kattegat," he said and placed a guiding hand on the small side of her back. "Come, I will not have the mother of my child die from exposure before she even meets our son," he instructed and she smiled, leading him into the forest. They came upon a small home; smoke rose from the chimney and Ragnar held the door open for her. He quickly tied his horse to a tree and ducked inside, shutting the door behind him.
