Chapter I - Releasing February 15th 2025
Hello All, Thank you for reading my story. I am really excited for this story and I can't wait to see what you all think. In this story, there are many different characters and words you may read that you might not be able to pronounce. As the story builds, I will build on here as well. After I will give a short background/prologue on the lore behind this story.Names:The Beginning - The Fyrsta (Feard-Sta)Fire - Brenna (Bren-nuh)Water - Vatna (Vat-Nuh)Air - Vindr (Vin-Deer)Earth - Grund (Gruh-nd)Magic - Fjölkynngi (Feel-kuh-nee)The Before - The Fyrir (Feard-eard)Void/Darkness - Myrkr (Meerd-Kuh) History/Lore of the Story:In the beginning there was nothing. An empty silent void of darkness. Endless inky blackness. The Fyrir was the most powerful creature, it was the only creature. Void, or Fyrir, had immersed everything into darkness, the earth was nothing but a void. Void preferred things like this, alone, powerful, his empty kingdom all to himself. One day, Void began seeing a glimmer in the middle of the earth. The glimmer became a full blown light, a ball of light; colors immeshed in to a single orb. The orb was chaotic and unstable. Void tried to fight the light, but everything he did only made it stronger. Before he knew it, the orb was expanding, getting bigger and bigger, until the orb split into five different orbs. Blue, Orange, White, Green, and Purple. One by one, the orbs began falling, the green created the ground and all of the dry nature. The Blue created the oceans, the rivers, and lakes. The orange created fire and heat. The white created the skies, the wind, and the oxygen. The last to fall was the purple orb, the fifth element, the forgotten element. This element runs through the very core of each other element, it stabilizes the other elements. Magic, the fifth element is Magic. Once the orb of magic fell to the ground, the oceans calmed, the fires died down, the winds slowed, the trees began producing oxygen. Void was split in two, one side stayed the same and the other was filled with light. Void became night, and the other half became day. As time went on, humans and animals began inhabiting the earth, the humans began worshipping the elements like they were gods. Since the earth was so new and raw, the elements took form as humans, became real living Gods for these people. But, the more time went on, the more human pride began to take over. They began to make their own religions, their own deities. They rejected the Five; they learned how to use Magic and turn her abilities against her and the other four, stripped them of their human bodies, and kept them insentient. For centuries, the legend of the Five Elements began to fade. Until, the Cult of the Fyrsta--A group of five vikings who adopted this belief. They believed that the five elements would become sentient again by taking human bodies, as they can no longer just create their own bodies. On one fateful day, the five vikings performed a ceremony, they called upon the sleeping Gods and invited them to take their bodies and the humans' souls would end. Because the ceremony was a transference spell of souls, every time one of the gods had a child, the body would die and the element's should would take over the newborn's soul. This spell began to fade each time a new life began from them, until the element became dormant and the child was gifted these element's abilities. Now, a danger is upon the world, and a prophecy is becoming inevitable of an awakening of these elements.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
Jughead hopped down each step of the stairs, a peppy step than usual. “Damn it!” Jughead stopped and the pep died down as he ran down the stairs. “Where’s the fire?” Jughead asked, turning the corner into the kitchen. There was no fire--just an annoyed FP looking down at his dead plant. Jughead let out a humorous scoff and said, “Wow, you weren’t kidding about having a black thumb. That’s your fifth succulent. You know those are the easiest to maintain, right?” FP just put his hand out and said, “Shut it, Jug. I don’t need this from you.” Jughead just smiled and shook his head. FP looked over and said, “well..”
“Well, what?”
“Will you revive it?” FP Asked.
Jughead grabbed an apple off the counter and took a bite. Jughead said, “Now, I thought you said you didn’t want any of my magic to help you keep your plant buddies alive?” FP’s voice got louder, “Will you just…” He lowered his voice, “do it, just do it.” Jughead laughed, “Ok, ok, geez, just calm down, alright?” Jughead shook his head with a smile on his face as he walked closer. Jughead’s hand began to glow with an emerald green--his eyes followed suit, beginning to glow with the same emerald green magic. He slowly pushed his arm forward as he twisted his wrist, a line of green magic extended out from his hand onto the dead plant. The plant’s death reversed and the leaves grew and hardened. As the plant’s life cycle began anew, Jughead detracted his arm, causing the glow in his eyes to fade, along with the magic spurting out of hand. “There. Good as new.”
“Well, it looks like your powers are back to normal.”
“Don’t jinx it, dad.”
“Where’s your sister?”
“I don’t know, probably her makeup.”
“She does realize she can use her magic. She can just wave her hand over her face and it’s done.” Jughead explained, “I think her little magic glitch has her scared to use it.” FP scoffed, “That’s ridiculous. Ronnie! No one got hurt. Veronica!” Jughead tilted his head and said, “Well, she did gash your cheek.” FP told him, “It didn’t even hurt. Veronica Jones! You’re going to be late!” Out of nowhere, Veronica was walking down the stairs. “Calm down, calm down, I am done.” Veronica was wearing a navy blue silk top with black trousers and dark blue stilettos. Jughead threw the apple core in the trash and walked over to the closet and pulled out a baby blue color coat. “Veronica,” FP said, “Are you afraid to use your magic?” Jughead held up the coat to Veronica, she looked and shook her head. Jughead put the coat back. “Well, seeing how the last time I used it, I did that to your face. I’m not in a big rush to use it again.” Jughead held up another coat, black. Veronica pointed to it and said, “Ooh, yes, perfect.” Jughead gave the coat to Veronica and grabbed one of his light blue denim coat with a faux fur collar. They both put their coats on.
“Veronica, it was one slip, and if you don’t consistently use them, you'll definitely have another slip. I need you to keep using them, okay?”
“Fine.” Veronica pulled her hair out of her coat and walked over to FP. She took the bandage off his face, seeing the wound she inflicted onto her father. Guilt shot through her. She put her hand up to the wound, closed her eyes, and muttered a spell in Latin. “sana haec vulnera (Heal these would)” She opened her eyes as her hand began glowing with a purple light. Her eyes glowed with purple magic. She usually didn’t need to speak spells. The only time she needed to was when the spell was man made, such as a healing spell. But anything else, it just happened.
As the last bit of skin resealed, she let go, causing her eyes and hand’s magic to fade. She smiley, in a weak way, and said, “There, good as new.” FP smiled and said, “good, thank you. Now, both of you, off to school.”
“Bye dad.” They both said, walking out the door.
Betty and Jughead walked out of second period. “I just don’t understand.” Betty said. “One second, I’m reading a book, and the next thing I know, I’m waking up on the floor of my bedroom and my entire bedroom is flooded. It was just my room.” Jughead gripped his backpack handle and said, “Me too, except I woke up and fucking jack and the beanstock was happening in my room.” As they walked into the student lounge, they spotted their friends and walked over. Betty sat down next to Veronica and Jughead sat down next to Archie. “What’re you guys talking about?” Betty asked. Veronica said, “our magic glitches.” Jughead asked, “So we all had them?” They all shook their heads. “I lit a book on fire.” Cheryl told them. Archie told them, “My mom found me inside a tornado.” Betty and Jughead told them what they did. Veronica said, “I slashed my father’s cheek with a bolt of magic.”
“He forgave you, Ronnie.” Jughead said.
“I know, I know.”
“He told me he was okay, but I just don’t understand why I did it.”
Betty let out a sympathetic sigh and wrapped her arm around Veronica’s “You lost control, Veronica. It wasn't you.” Veronica said, annoyed, “then who was it?” Jughead was going to say something, anything to comfort his sister, but then Cheryl said, “guys, principal Weatherbee.” They stopped all talk when they heard his name. “Hello students.” Principal Weatherbee said, they all just made a weak smile on their face. Principal Weatherbee told them, “we have two new students starting today.” He turned around and waved them in. Two teenagers walked in. A young man with stunning features and hair black as night and a beautiful young woman with blonde hair. Principal Weatherbee said, “you all are always so nice to the new students, I thought it would be nice to have you all show them around and you each share a class with them. So I thought, how serendipitous.”
Veronica let out a fake smile and said, “sure, principal Weatherbee. That’s fine.”
“Great. Juniper, Dagwood, this is: Archie Andrews, Betty Cooper, Veronica Jones, Jughead Jones, and Cheryl Blossom. Students, this is Juniper and Dagwood Nott.”
The two wave, but Juniper said, “hello.”
Principal Weatherbee said, “well, I’ll leave you all to it.” If that man walked any faster, you’d think he was running away. Juniper, a shorter girl, had hair that was blonde as the sun, perfectly straight and silky. She bore an air of confidence with every step she took. She wore a white silk top and a black skirt with black heels and a long white coat. Her necklace was a perfect round obsidian stone with a silver chain and four silver claws clamping onto the stone. In the middle of a stone was an engraved rune with white ink filled into it. The symbol was the norse rune of Dagaz (ᛞ)—Night and Day. It was a peculiar necklace, one that automatically caught Jughead’s attention. Dagwood was a stunning a male figure. Perfect jawline, silky black hair put in a middle cut. His eyes were so blue, they were enchanting. His left eye though, it looked as if the iris was cut and the color leaked out. Dagwood wore a white t-shirt and a black top shirt with black jeans and black combat boots. He wore a long black coat—like his sister. He had a necklace with a black chain and claws gripping a round opal stone. His stone had an engraved rune too but with black filling. The rune was the same as Juniper’s: Night and Day—Dagaz.
The twins sat at the two empty seats next to the couches. Juniper looked over and saw Jughead staring at her necklace, she smiled and said, “My eyes are up here.” Jughead snapped out of his trance and said, “oh, sorry, I wasn’t staring at…that. I was staring at your necklace. Is that Dagaz?”
Veronica looked confused, “Da-what?” Juniper smiled for real this time and answered, “good eye; yes it is. They’re family heirlooms. They’ve been in our family for 100s of years.”
Veronica switched the topic fully. “Speaking of family, where are you two from?” Dagwood began, “A small town in Vermont. Smaller than here actually.” Jughead was stunned by the voice of this young man, his face, his body, hair, voice, it had Jughead in a trance, he had this expression of longing and desire on his face. He had always considered himself straight, but he couldn’t deny that he hadn’t looked at guys and found them desirable and that he sure did find Dagwood very attractive. Veronica saw it, she saw Jughead looking at Dagwood. She suspected his brother might not be straight, but couldn’t be sure.
Veronica snapped out of her train of thought when she heard Betty say, “So what brought you guys here?” The twins looked at each other, almost nervous or worried, almost as if trying to come up with something silently. Dagwood started talking, ripping his focus from Juniper, “uhm…” Dagwood took over, “Job opportunity for our father. We loved Lennox, Vermont, but he needed work.” Archie asked, “What was it like?”
“It’s this beautiful small town on the northeastern side of the border between Vermont and New Hampshire. Lakes, green lush hills, autumn leaves that look painted.”
Jughead said, “it sounds incredible.” Veronica felt as if her emotions were shifting uncontrollably, a feeling of dread, panic, and anxiety. She didn’t just feel it—she could see it, she could see these twins' true emotions radiating off of them. Veronica snapped her attention back into place and said, “yeah, almost…unbelievable.” She gave the twins this devilish smile and tilted her head, almost telling them with her lips and eyes that she knew, she knew they were lying; they were saying:
bullshit.
What felt like Divine intervention came in the form of the period three bell. Students began getting up and moving. The group got up and Betty asked, “What's your next class?” The twins unfolded their schedule and began searching for period three. Dagwood said, “Mrs. June’s History class.” Veronica said, “Jughead and I are in that class, we can walk you.” Juniper and Dagwood smiled at the same time, making Veronica’s stomach turn.
“So,” Juniper said, “You and Jughead are twins as well?” Veronica nodded, not looking over to her new acquaintance. “Yep, Riverdale General, 30 minutes apart.” Behind them, Dagwood and Jughead were walking together. Dagwood was doing most of the talking, but, when Dagwood asked, “So, what’s there to do here for fun?” Jughead let out a breathy and weak laugh, “unfortunately, you came to the wrong town.
Other than Pops—the local diner, the only club, and the White Wyrm bar, this place is boring as hell.” Dagwood smiled and said, “places aren’t the only thing that make a town fun. The people can too.” Jughead felt a weakness in his knees, but stayed straight. “You know.” Jughead started, “our friends in there will be getting together for some fun around 8 tonight at Pop’s. You and Juniper are welcome to come.” Dagwood dropped his arm on top of Jughead’s shoulders and told him, “I might just take you up on that offer.”
Jughead was caught off guard by the touch, but this was different, it wasn’t that same panic he was feeling earlier; this panic was more of a raw fear—it felt like the air was sucked right out of his lungs, his mind was racing, his mind was screaming for him to run from this danger, but his body was stuck in place.
Danger!
Veronica began feeling the panic and turned around. She saw Jughead, internally melting and Dagwood, touching Jughead. “Hey, Jughead. Are you okay?” Dagwood asked, still touching him. Jughead’s breathing was labored. She immediately went into her protective mode and said, “stop touching him.” Juniper and Dagwood looked at her confused. Veronica explained,
“Jughead doesn’t do well with physical touch, so if you don’t mind.” Veronica didn’t even let Dagwood remove his arm before she shoved his arm off Jughead’s shoulders. “History is in room 13, right there.” Pointing behind her. “We’ll be in a second.” Veronica guided Jughead into the room 15 across from 13. She shut the door and grabbed a water bottle off the table. Jughead’s breathing became louder “I- can’t- breathe.” Veronica hovered hands down Jughead’s arms. “It’s okay, hey, Jug, it’s okay. You’re not there. You’re here, you’re at school. He’s not here, I’m here, I’m right here. Look. Juggie, look it’s me, not him.”
It wasn’t working. “Okay, it’s okay. Hey, take off your jacket. You’re very warm.” Jughead ripped the jacket right off his body and let it fall to the floor. “Please…help- me.” Jughead asked, begging her to use her power to ease him. “I can’t, remember, dad won’t let me. Just look around, look around the room.” Jughead turned his head around. He began counting in his head.
4 reds, 10 blues, 3 yellows, 20 chairs and 20 desks.
He began reading the banner on the wall reading ‘Riverdale High’s 75th anniversary.’ His breathing began to calm, he remembered where he was. He wasn’t there anymore, he was here, Riverdale.
He
wasn’t there, Veronica was.
When Jughead was 15, he was diagnosed with PTSD after being abducted by an older “friend” who was obsessed with Jughead. Bret Weston Wallis, 20 years old, was obsessed with Jughead and was the only outsider of his group to know about his power. When his dad, the sheriff, found Jughead, Bret was holding Jughead up in a cabin in the mountains. Jughead doesn’t remember everything, but remembers enough. He remembers Bret kissing him, forcing himself onto Jughead. He remembers Bret beating him to a pulp when Jughead tried to run away. He remembered his father, sister, Betty, Cheryl, and Archie saving him. FP shooting Bret in the head, Cheryl burning him into ash and Veronica turning those ashes into nothing but air.
Since then, Jughead can only be touched by a few people, his friends, sister, and father. People he knows.
Archie and Betty walked past the room but then walked backwards, seeing Jughead and Veronica in the empty room. Archie opened the door and they walked in, closing the door behind them. “What happened?” Betty asked. Veronica explained, “that new guy, dipshit, or whatever-“ Jughead interrupted him. “Dagwood.”
“Whatever. He wrapped his arm around Jughead. I felt his distress and took him in here.”
“Take it away.” Archie said.
“I can’t. Dad won’t let us anymore. He wants Jughead to learn how to do it himself.”
Betty asked, “why would he do that? He doesn’t even know you.” Jughead shook his head. He let out a breath and said, “no, guys, it’s not his fault. He didn’t know. How could he? He’s new. I’m fine, guys, it’s okay. I promise, you can go to class now. It’s okay.”
Betty and Archie sighed as Jughead motioned for the door. They both walked out and shut the door.
“What’re you not telling me?” Veronica asked, crossing her arms. Jughead leaned against the desk. “What do you mean?” Veronica rolled her eyes, “please, Juggie. I’m an empath, you idiot. I do more than wave my hands with purple clouds and do spells. I can feel your emotions. This was worse, this was more intense than any other touch episode you’ve ever had. It’s your new medication, isn’t it? The side effects did list increased anxiety.”
Jughead rolled his eyes and said, “I don’t know, Ronnie. It was just very bad. It could’ve been the touch. That’s what he used to do a lot, put his arm on my shoulder. I don’t know. I will ask my psychiatrist at my next appointment.” Veronica nodded, not looking up. “Jug, you know you’re going to have to tell the others about your diagnosis soon, right?”
Jughead sighed, “Yes, Veronica. I’m just nervous.”
“Why? You think they’re going to judge you, or something? You were diagnosed with Bipolar, you didn’t rob a bank. Tell them tonight, and then we can celebrate at Pop’s”
“You want to celebrate my Bipolar diagnosis?”
“Sure. It wouldn’t be the weirdest thing we’ve done.”
“Fine. I will tell them tonight.”
“You wanna also tell me about what was going on with you and Dagwood?” Jughead looked over, confused. “Oh come on, I saw the way you were looking at him. Jughead, are you ga-” Jughead interrupted her, “I don’t know. I’ve always been into girls, but lately, I don’t know--I find Dagwood very attractive.” Veronica asked, “So you’re Bi?” Jughead’s tone got sharper. “I don’t know. It’s all just very confusing.” Veronica could see the distress growing on Jughead. Veronica moved closer grabbing Jughead’s arms. “Ok, hey, it’s okay. Look, I just want you to know that no matter if you’re gay, bi, straight, whatever, we would all support you.”
He finally calmed down all the way. “Thank you, Ronnie.”
