Brother, that railroad track to trek that left in ruins not only the soul but body of Orpheus. He powered on, the love of his woman and the melody of the chords to hopefully hear her sweet song again. He didn't see that storm. Too focused on the ballad to rekindle the love of the gods, the cruel menace of Mister Hades and the bitter sadness of Lady Persephone.
La la la la la la la..He hungered, he tired, he sweat till the water turned to salt. The walls opened up to the ballad, and Orpheus was in Hadestown. The smoke and light blinded Orpheus, but the silhouettes and clanging had him walking. Workers. These must be the people of Hadestown.
Eurydice. She must be among them."Excuse me?"
The sweat-ridden dirt-covered person had no answer but the ring of tools.
"Do you know Eurydice."~Brother, they don't know nothin. Not even they own names.~And then..Eurydice.She looked broken, more than the hungry girl he had known. He walked over, the black overalls and goggled helmet was a new look. But her eyes, as dead and swirling with dread still flickered with sparks of hope. He reached a red carnation over her shoulder."Come home with me."
Startled, she gasped, looking back. Just as soon in that moment the stubborn eyed girl he loved was herself."It's you!""It's me."She practically pounced, wrapping sturdy arms around the back of his neck, Orpheus tumbled down into a hug with wet eyes."Orpheus!" She cried, but it was not melancholy."Eurydice." He cupped her hands. Her voice turned a sort of bitter, like a lemon- still sweet, but sour."I called your name before!""I know." Orpheus sighed.Surprised, she squeezed his shoulders."You heard.""No."She looked confused."Mister Hermes told me so.""Whatever happened, I'm to blame." Eurydice furrowed her brows."No.""You called my name." Softening the features on her face, she wept,
"You came.""But how'd you get there? On the train?""No, I walked, a long way.""How'd you get beyond the wall?""I sang a song so beautiful, stones wept and they let me in. And I can sing us home again." The tender moment was chilled as her face flooded with panic."No, you can't.""Yes, I can."
"No!" Orpheus was confused."You don't understand!" She cried, dropping to her knees."Young man!"
