icy eyes shot open, almost immediately snapping shut, stinging with the sharp sensation of saltwater. tommy awoke like this everyday. why it was a shock anymore was beyond him.he let himself sink deeper, the sand grazing his scarred skin. unfamiliar lungs burned, locked behind the bars of his ribcage and positioned near his aching heart.his heart throbbed, pleading him to stay put, not to kick or flail, to end his everlasting torture. his body was tired, and begged him to make the seabed his place of refuge. his brain was content with the knowledge he’d die alone — it was fitting.but unfortunately, the pinch of fight he had left in him took ahold, and his unwilling body haphazardly kicked, swimming upwards.he emerged from the welcoming waters, spluttering. by the time he’d gotten back to the shore his whole body felt like it was searing with pain, yet numb like a glacier.he laid on the sand and pebbles, his matted blonde hair becoming even more dirty, and as he looked up to the blinding sunrise he begged, no, prayed, for death to stop tormenting him. he lazily moved his hand to the church prime cross necklace, closing his icy eyes. it couldn’t always be like this. it had to get better. XD would save him. right?
