Work Text
November 2023
“It’s clearly just the 10th Doctor again, he has the exact same face.” Regulus argues, stubbornly sitting on a chair from the dining room. His arms are crossed as he watches the same episode they all watched the night before. This time though, he’s ready for discussion. Or more accurately arguing.
“How embarrassing is it to be wrong every time we talk about
Doctor Who
?” Remus asks with a smirk, stretching out on the couch his friend refuses to sit on because ‘I know you horny assholes have fucked on it’.
“I’m not wrong. What?—What do you mean every time?” Regulus asks indignantly, eyes sharp, “You have to be fucking kidding me, is this about the stupid bet about Clara?”
“The one I definitely won? Yes.” This succeeds in riling Regulus up further and he is now turned entirely away from the TV in favor of glaring at Remus.
“I was right! She is clearly reincarnated! You lost
and
never did the punishment!” Regulus hisses, arms outstretched.
“I’ll do it tonight at The Three Broomsticks if you can prove you were right.” Remus knows he is right, without a doubt. Just as he did when it first aired.
“No. I don’t trust the internet. We need to ask someone we trust.” The door swings open at that moment, and Remus smirks like the universe itself is on his side.
“Love, can you come settle something for us?” Remus calls out, voice laced with honey.
“Stop that. He’ll take your side!” Regulus slaps his arm, eyes still a piercing glare.
“Fine, I’ll pretend I believe your
idiotic
stance” Remus whispers, then continues in a louder voice. “I think that Clara was reincarnated. Reggie here thinks she travelled through time. What do you think, Pads?”
Of course, Remus already knows what he thinks, seeing as the episode came out years ago and they have obviously already talked about it. Sure, they had the conversation while naked in bed, but Sirius agreed with him either way. Remus was right. Regulus was wrong. That much was clear.
Luckily, Sirius sniffs the prank out immediately. “Sorry baby, but Regulus is right. Clearly she’s a time traveler.”
Regulus lets out a shocked scoff and begins sputtering an excuse. Remus just turns to him with a wide smile and pulls up the karaoke flyer for tonight, “Looks like this is your time to shine!”
However, Regulus isn’t an idiot, he can always tell when they are up to something. The key is to ensure he can’t prove it, “I don’t trust this. I’m not doing it.”
“You can’t go back on a bet Reg.” Remus is still smiling, knowing his grin is annoying Regulus even more.
“Reggie, my darling Moonbeam can be wrong sometimes. I know it's hard to believe, but I do have my own thoughts.” Sirius is laying it on thick, and it is all Remus can do not to break out laughing. “Besides, I couldn’t agree with him if I wanted to, time traveler is the only thing that makes sense.”
Regulus scoffs again, but Remus knows they have him. Tonight they will all get to watch Regulus perform
Thrift Shop
at The Three Broomsticks. He grabs his phone to invite the rest of their friends. If there is going to be a show, there has to be an audience.
The time has finally come for him to suffer the consequences of betting against a Marauder.
oOo
“Rem, how did you get him to agree to this?” Lily slides up behind him at the bar, resting her head on his shoulder.
“Won a bet—from ten years ago.” His lips twist into a smirk, holding back a laugh.
“You're kidding me!” Disbelief coloring her voice, then she tilts her head in thought, “Actually. That makes sense, that idiot would never back out of something like that.”
Remus adopts his friend’s pretentious tone to answer, “Excuse me, Lily. Some of us actually have honor.”
She lets out a snort of laughter, “I guess I don’t have any because I would
not
do something based on a bet from junior high.”
“Me either,” Remus laughs, throwing back his head, “but don’t tell him that.”
Regulus is standing by the stage, glaring at his two friends laughing at the bar. His eyes don’t leave them even as he walks up the steps and grabs the microphone.
They walk closer to the stage, pulling out signs he and Sirius made the night before. As the music begins and Regulus starts repeating ‘what’ with a scowl on his face, they hold them up high.
Remus’ reads, “This is fucking awesome” and Lily’s has a picture of Macklemore in a fur coat with Regulus’ face glued on.
He looks around for Sirius’ sign, which appears beside him as his husband wraps an arm around him. The sign says ‘No, he does
not
look incredible.’
“My love,” Sirius says, the familiar endearment still making Remus feel warm, even after all these years. “He’s actually doing an okay job.” Sirius sounds impressed, and Remus can't help but laugh.
Unfortunately, Regulus catches their attention. His frown morphs into a mischievous smirk. This isn’t good.
Regulus locks eyes with Remus, then jumps off the stage, belting out, “I’ma take your grandpa’s style.” He starts pulling the cardigan off Remus, “I’ma take your grandpa’s style.”
He throws it over his shoulders, practically swimming in the oversized fabric. “No, for real, ask your grandpa.” He points at Remus. “Can I have his hand-me-downs?”
Sirius and Lily nearly topple over in laughter. Remus feels his cheeks flush, but he keeps his annoyance in check, instead smiling and letting himself enjoy the sight of his friend finally letting go.
Regulus continues, using the song to embarrass Remus at every opportunity. He struts around the stage, pointing to Remus each time he sings, “Only got 20 dollars in
his
pocket.”
He ends the performance by calling Lily up to join him, her sign held high. Together, they shout into the mic, “THIS IS FUCKING AWESOME!”
Remus is still grinning at his two friends as they clamber off the stage. Lily is jumping in excitement and even Regulus can’t fight the small, satisfied smirk tugging at his lips.
“Well,” Regulus says, brushing invisible dust off his shirt, “I suppose that could have been worse.”
Remus hums in amusement, turning back toward the bar just in time to hear the music change. The opening notes of the next song play over the speakers, and something in the air shifts.
Then a familiar voice, smooth and unmistakable, fills the space.
“I went to the moped store, said fuck it.”
Remus whirls around, already knowing exactly what he’ll see.
Sirius stands at the mic, jacket slipping off his shoulders, revealing Remus’ threadbare Queen shirt underneath. His grin is sharp and wicked under the neon lights. Remus, fully entranced, lifts his drink to take a sip—only to miss his mouth entirely, beer soaking through his shirt.
“You are actually pathetic,” Regulus mutters, watching as Remus hastily wipes his face with his sleeve, eyes never leaving the stage.
Once again Remus is struck by how lucky he is that this man is
his.
His eyes don’t leave him for the entire performance, the words going through one ear and out the other, his voice is beautiful and his hips are mesmerizing. Remus just stands there, drinking in the sight.
“You’re drooling Remus, please have some class.” Regulus digs, but Remus doesn’t spare him a glance.
“As if you would be any better if El went up there,” Remus tries to add some fire to the words, but instead they just float out as he stares at the love of his life.
“Fucking hell” Remus mutters to himself, although the based on the laughter beside him, it must have been louder than he meant it to be.
James appears, he must have finally made it, and is launching himself on stage. He wraps his arms around Sirius as he sings into the mic, “She has her arms around your waist. With a balance that could keep her safe.”
He just smiles at the two friends, loving every moment of the performance. He hears Lily laugh from beside him, leaning into his side as they watch their idiots dance together.
Suddenly, Sirius holds a high note, and in one fluid motion, rips
his
shirt in half, lowering himself to the floor as James keeps the mic to his lips. Remus feels a tide of emotions wash over him at the sight. His eyes lock on Sirius’ sweat-slicked chest, while his mind can’t help but think about
his
t-shirt being shredded in front of him. But it’s Sirius’ voice that finally pushes him over the edge. He feels moments away from passing out, but just as his world threatens to spin out, the song ends, and Sirius appears at his side, panting.
“I’ll buy you a new shirt, I promise. I just got really into—” Remus cuts him off by smashing their lips together. It is nothing like their kisses when they were younger, it is rough and hot. Their tongues move together desperately as he runs his hands along the skin exposed underneath his ruined shirt. He pulls Sirius against him, their bodies jammed together impossibly close.
Then a cough from behind him brings him back to the moment and he turns to his friends, Sirius tucked neatly under his arm. His face is bright red, but he doesn’t regret it, he never regrets anything that brings him closer to the beautiful man next to him.
“Do you blame me?” He asks, quirking his lips up. James and Lily start to laugh, shaking their heads. Meanwhile Regulus is gagging, turning into El for support.
“Never do that again. I have to bleach my eyes.”
“You literally walked in on us last week, this was nothing.” Sirius scoffs.
“That doesn’t mean you can continue to traumatize me!” Regulus says outraged, “Why did you even perform that? You didn’t lose a bet!”
“Because I’m hot?” Sirius looks up at him through his lashes, “Right Moons?”
But he is tucking the ruined shirt into his too tight pants and Remus feels his mouth go dry. He merely hums in agreement and tugs on his arm, waving goodbye to their friends as he leaves with his husband.
They barely make it to the motorcycle parked outside, their bodies latched together the second they say goodbye to their friends. Sirius slides onto the seat first, reluctantly turning towards the front, “You know, I want something besides a leather seat between my legs.” His voice turns deeper, and it takes everything in Remus to resist taking him in the parking lot.
“I can arrange that.” He pauses, then adds in a low voice, holding back laughter, “Does that mean you got this at the moped store?”
Sirius shoots him a glare over his shoulder, “Fuck you.”
“Drive fast”
*********
The front door bangs into the wall—again—but neither of them care. Remus is already tugging at Sirius’ shirt, the thin fabric slipping from his shoulders with little resistance. His lips find exposed skin, teeth grazing over Sirius’ chest as he leaves a trail of deep purple marks.
His.
The sounds Sirius makes above him only spur him on, pushing him further, making it impossible to hold back. He drops to his knees, fingers slipping beneath dark fabric, dragging it down with deliberate slowness. Exposing the ass he has spent the entire night thinking about.
Of course, he isn’t wearing underwear.
Remus lets out a moan, not hesitating before wrapping his lips around the perfect cock teasing him inches from his face. His mouth is full, but he adds a finger in, getting it wet as saliva drips down his chin. His jaw is slack with desire as Sirius wraps a hand behind his head. He lets his fingers tease his husband's hole, reveling in the deep moan he gets in response. Without warning, he presses a wet finger in, and Sirius’ weight collapses onto him, whimpering in pleasure. Head thrown back against the wall and knees wobbling violently, Sirius looks utterly debauched.
Remus pulls back with a pop, just staring at the man he loves. “Can you fuck my face?” He says it innocently, as if precome wasn’t already painting the edges of his mouth.
For a moment Remus thinks Sirius is too out of it to respond, but he is met with silver gleaming back at him, “I didn’t know Macklemore was what does it for you.” He says with a smirk.
Remus scoffs, but is cut short when a thick cock is pressed between his lips. Thrusting in and out as his mind goes blank. He hollows out his cheeks and swallows around the hard length. He feels Sirius trembling around him, the thrusts becoming erratic.
Between gasps, “Baby, you look so good for me. So good with my—with my cock in your mouth.” He lets out a long moan, Remus feels himself grow even harder at the sound. “I’m going to come Moons—oh, fuck.”
And wet heat begins to rush down his throat. Still spilling hot spurts of come, Sirius pulls back and Remus lets his tongue settle on his bottom lip. Come covering his face, he opens his eyes, basking in the beauty before him. His mind is thinking of nothing else other than
mine.
Sirius slides down next to him, wrapping his arms around Remus and pulling him into a passionate kiss, tasting himself and groaning. Their lips move desperately together, wet and open mouthed. He presses his cock against Sirius as they kiss, rutting down with their tongues wrapped around each other.
Remus is the one to pull away, breathing heavily and painfully hard. “You ripping
my
shirt on stage is what does it for me,” he whispers in a rough voice. “Now bring me into the bedroom so I can punish you properly for it.” His husband’s eyes go wide, jaw dropping in excitement.
They take the rest of the night, and by the time they are done, another shirt has been ripped in half. Only this time, it belongs to Sirius and he wasn’t the one wearing it.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
February 2015-10th Grade
“Lily, he’s going to expect something special, it’s our first Valentine’s Day as a couple—” Remus is pacing around his bedroom as Lily sits on his bed flipping through a well loved book.
“Wait, I thought you guys kissed on Valentine’s Day last year?” She doesn’t set it down.
"We weren’t even together yet!" Remus groans, rubbing his temples. "And now I’ve spent a whole month trying to come up with something even half as good as what he does for me, and I’ve got nothing. Nothing!"
“The dates can’t be that good. I’m sure you’ll think of something.”
"You don’t get it! For Christmas, we didn’t just put up a tree—we went to a farm, cut one down ourselves, and made every decoration from scratch. How am I supposed to top that?"
“Well that doesn’t sound that—” Lily starts, but Remus isn’t done. Not even close.
"He learned to knit—just so I wouldn’t be cold when we went to get the tree. A whole set. Gloves, a hat, a scarf. Then we spent the night making ornaments together, drinking hot cocoa he made from scratch. And when we finally finished decorating the tree, he told me he put it in his room so he could think of me every morning."
“That’s…” Lily trails off for a moment, eyes wide, “Okay yeah that’s a lot.” She furrows her brows and leans in closer, “Wait, that cute little green hat? He made that?” Remus nods. “I need him to make me one.”
Remus hits her arm, “Lily, I am in the middle of a crisis. This is not the time for you to ask for a hat.”
“But it’s a nice hat” She pouts.
“It’s my favorite hat, but that’s not the point” Remus sits on the ground in front of her, looking up worried, “What do I do for Valentine’s day?”
“A parade” Lily responds immediately. She’s met with a glare. “What? It’s big, it’s grand. He’d love it.”
“I also can’t put together a parade by next week. Or even by next year.”
“Good point, but I still think you should keep it in mind.” Lily frowns at him, “His favorite thing is you, but you can’t give him
you
for Valentine’s Day.”
“He already has me,” Remus mutters under his breath. “Wait! I have the perfect idea!”
“What is it?” Lily jumps up out of her seat, excited for her friend, but more excited he will finally stop complaining that he doesn’t know what to do for Sirius.
But Remus is already halfway out the door. “Sorry Lily, I need to get started now!”
He is going to give his boyfriend the perfect Valentine’s Day. Especially because last Valentine’s day he spent running away from him. He wants to rewrite that memory, to remind his boyfriend how much he loves him.
oOo
Sirius wakes with a start, a gentle knock against his window. He stares into the darkness, wondering who it could be when the moon glints off of familiar curls and he launches himself forward.
As his boyfriend slides through the window he can’t help asking, “What are you doing up here, it’s the second story!”
But Remus kisses him without a word, pulling him in deeply before answering. “Happy Valentine’s Day my love. I got James to let me in and I used the balcony to get on the roof.” His boyfriend grabs his hand, dragging him towards the window, “Speaking of the balcony, please come and join me on it.”
Sirius just smiles, heart pounding with adrenaline as he follows Remus onto the roof. It isn’t far, just a few steps, but he can’t believe his normally cautious boyfriend would do it.
They get to the balcony, climbing over the railing, and Sirius gasps. There is a full picnic, set up with a tie-blanket of the night sky and a basket on one corner. There are fake candles scattered around, and Remus is in the center holding out a single rose.
“I wanted to give you a Valentine’s day as perfect as you are, so it had to start the second the clock struck midnight.”
Sirius stands frozen for a beat, his heart pounding in disbelief. “You did all this? For me?” His voice cracks, soft but full of wonder. Remus nods, his own eyes gleaming with affection.
Once he is over the initial shock, Sirius is feeling giddy, his smile brighter than the crescent moon overhead. Remus holds out a hand, and Sirius takes it, barely able to keep himself from skipping around the small space. His boyfriend is amazing, and he keeps proving it more and more every day.
Remus brings their hands to his lips, giving Sirius’ knuckles a small kiss before sitting them down on the blanket.
“Did you make this, Moonlight?” SIrius says, scanning the stars beneath them.
“I hope you liked it, I wanted a blanket that had us together. The moon and the stars.”
“It’s perfect” Sirius would be embarrassed by how breathless he sounds, but he can’t. It’s Remus.
“And I packed some snacks.” Remus reaches into the basket beside him. “A bottle of sparkling grape juice.” He pulls out a fancy looking bottle and champagne glasses that have the moon and stars engraved into them. Sirius holds one closer to his face, fingers skimming the etched glass.
“Did you get these custom made?” Sirius is in shock, unable to look away from the delicate markings. On the base it says Moonlight and the other Starlight in sloppy cursive.
“Oh, um no. I made them. I got a little engraver pen at Michaels. I practiced on my mom’s mason jars if you prefer one of those.”
He feels his jaw drop, every detail of this date feels perfectly thought out. Sirius can’t wrap his head around how lucky he feels to have his insanely thoughtful boyfriend, especially since he almost lost him a year ago.
Sirius’ voice catches, his eyes suddenly brimming with unshed tears. ‘I don’t deserve you,’ he whispers, the words heavy with regret from the year before, when he almost lost Remus. The night feels too perfect—how could he have a love this good?
Remus kisses him gently, a hand pressed to his cheek. When he pulls away he takes out something else from the basket. A package of Oreos.
“A date under the stars isn’t complete without Oreos.” He begins to pull it open, but hesitates, “I wanted to make them special, but I won’t be offended if you don’t like them. I brought others just in case.”
The package could be filled with angry bees and Sirius would be happy. It could literally be empty and he would thank Remus for the air. He can’t imagine what is inside that would make Remus this nervous, but as he opens the package he is surprised it is just normal Oreos.
“Moons, why wouldn’t I like—” but he doesn’t finish his sentence. They aren’t normal Oreos.
In his hand is an Oreo, but it looks homemade. They are slightly misshapen and varying in thickness. But that isn’t what he notices, no his eyes are glued to the designs on the top. Each cookie has a moon and a star carefully carved into it. He feels tears fall from his eyes as he stares at the cookie, at the perfect representation of their relationship.
It hasn’t been a perfect year. He has been working hard to earn Remus’ trust back, to get their relationship to what it once was (or even better). It was a hard road, especially when he would pull away, worried that Remus was finally done with him. But they got through it, and each bump in the road only served to bring them closer together. He doesn’t care what gets in his way, as long as Remus is his, that is all he cares about.
“Do you not like them? I don’t think they will taste like normal oreos, but I tried carving into a store bought one and they just crumbled. I can put them away…” Remus continues to babble, nervous words spilling out as Sirius stares at the cookie. Instead of replying, he grabs another cookie and places it carefully in Remus’ hands.
The homemade Oreo feels rough under his fingertips, each carved moon and star marking a tiny, deliberate act of love and devotion. It’s not just a snack. It’s the whole night—the effort, the intention—all wrapped in a small, sweet offering.
Sirius twists his carefully, the creme sticking evenly to both halves. He doesn’t hesitate in scraping it off, getting one side completely clean before holding out the creme covered half to his boyfriend. Remus is looking at him in shock, a nervous smile playing at his lips. He begins to do the same, to pull apart his cookie and scrape it clean. In silence they exchange halves, fingers brushing and electricity sparking between them. Sirius puts his together, smiling down at their creation. An image of their love, stars and moon together. A night sky between two handcrafted cookies.
Remus starts to raise his to his lips, but Sirius stops him. Instead, he offers his cookie to his boyfriend, holding it up as an offering. For a moment Remus doesn’t react, but then his eyes soften and he holds up his own. They bite down together, lips kissing fingertips.
It’s delicious, a darker chocolate than the original Oreo, but Sirius thinks it is better. He might be biased, but the love inside him brings the taste to a new level. The chocolate takes on a new life, dark nights together and kisses shared in secret. He can’t imagine something better, or at least he can’t until Remus leans forward and presses their lips together. The chocolate and
Remus
mingling together in a way he never wants to stop tasting.
He pulls his boyfriend closer, tangling his fingers in golden curls. They melt together, sinking into the embrace while they nip desperately at each other’s lips, as if trying to get another bite. The chocolate and creme and Remus all play on his tongue and he is intoxicated. Addicted. Ruined for eternity. He lets Remus lay him down, slotting their legs together. The kiss gets deeper, more intense, and he can’t pull away. His mind is empty, the world doesn’t exist beyond their kiss.
Remus is the one to end it, to sit up panting. He smiles sheepishly down at Sirius, adjusting his obvious attraction, and pulls his boyfriend up with one more peck. They’ve talked about
it
. But decided they aren’t ready. Not yet. And definitely not out on the balcony with the Potters’ only a few walls away.
“Does that mean you like them?” Remus asks shyly, as if they hadn’t just been pressed together, sharing the chocolate between them.
“I love them.” Sirius stares deep into his eyes at this.
Remus smiles and it is blinding. It’s a wonder he hasn’t woken up the neighborhood. Shining moonlight so intensely, the sky might as well hand the job over to him.
Remus lays down and gestures to the sky. Once Sirius nestles down next to him, they intertwine hands and begin to discuss the stars. Stories they know, stories they made up. They talk until the stars begin to fade and light teases the horizon.
“Oh shoot, you probably need to go home.” Sirius sits up suddenly, turning to his boyfriend who is sitting calmly as if they have all the time in the world.
And maybe they do. “I told my mum I’m having a sleepover with you and James.”
After that they head inside, slipping under the covers together. They slot together, legs tangled and an arm around his waist. He presses his face to Remus’ chest and a feeling of comfort fills the room. As Sirius curls into the warmth of Remus’ embrace, he can’t help but think of how far they’ve come. The love and trust between them, golden filling where they once were broken. In this quiet, safe moment, with Remus’ heartbeat steady under his ear, he knows they’re exactly where they’re meant to be.
oOo
Remus wakes up first, inky hair spilled beside him. He pulls a few strands out of his mouth, and pushes the rest off his boyfriend’s face. Sirius doesn’t wake up, so Remus studies his profile. He is tracing the curve of his nose when his silver eyes blink into existence. A lazy smile stretches across his face, pulling at porcelain skin. Remus can’t help but smile back, a call and response he can’t ignore.
“Good morning my moon.” Sirius’ voice is husky from sleep. Of course Remus already knew this from sleepovers and early morning phone calls, but today he can’t stop himself from claiming his lips. The voice toppling him over the edge of longing he feels for the boy pressed up against him.
He kisses him slowly, reveling in their morning together. That is until James knocks on the door.
“My parents just left. If you want to sneak out, this is your chance.” He calls through the thin wood.
“Thanks Jamie” Sirius yells back. He then turns to Remus, “Do we have any other plans?”
Remus stretches soundly, arms pressed against the headboard above them. “Well I would like to stay here all day, but we actually have to be somewhere in—” He checks his phone, “48 minutes.”
“What!?” Sirius jumps out of bed, “I have to get ready.”
“We’re just going to the diner, no need to freak out.” Remus smiles as his boyfriend begins throwing clothes around.
Remus leaves the room, knowing Sirius will be focused on choosing an outfit. He brought a sweater with him the day before, small hearts on the cuffs and collar. It feels a little cheesy, but for their first Valentine’s Day together, it was the perfect match.
He walks back towards Sirius’ room, a bouquet of tulips in hand. He is reaching for the door when he is stopped by none other than James Potter.
“Don’t go in! He wants to surprise you with his outfit. Go and wait downstairs.” He directs, hair even more wild in the mornings.
The boys walk down the stairs together. Remus turns to James, “Why are you still here? I thought you were meeting Lily?”
“I am, but we are meeting up after lunch. Her mom always takes her and her sister out for lunch on Valentine’s Day.”
“That’s sweet of her mom, if only Petunia didn’t make Lily miserable.”
James sighs, “I know, I’m hoping a walk around the park and a nice dinner will help her feel better.” He grins at Remus, “Probably not though, not with you out showing me.”
Remus rolls his eyes, “Don’t blame your failures on my masterpiece, I am only giving Sirius what he deserves.”
James raises an eyebrow, lips quirked. He doesn’t respond though. As much as he teases, he is their biggest cheerleader. He was the one who snuck Remus in the night before. He wants their Valentine’s Day to be perfect almost as much as they do.
“James! Come here!” Sirius’s voice echoes down the stairs.
“I have been summoned!” James jumps up and runs towards his best friend with a wide smile.
Remus sits alone, wondering what he could need help with, when the lights all turn off. Luckily the sun still lights the room. He spies James by the light switch and wonders what they are up to.
“Announcing the hottest boy at Hogwarts High, the one true love of our very own Moony, give it up for Sirius Orion Blackkkkkk” James shouts from beside the light switch, as if Remus isn’t mere feet away. He holds up a flashlight and points it to the top of the stairs. He is attempting to hold back a laugh, and Remus feels one bubbling up as well. That is, until Sirius begins descending the stairs and everything else ceases to exist.
Caught in the beam of light, Sirius shimmers like the star he was named after. He has on a crop top he clearly made himself, words written in fabric paint and reading,
Moony Mine
, with mine underlined and surrounded by arrows. His familiar jacket perched on his shoulders, and Remus can smell the leather from across the room. He also has on his favorite jeans, low rise and tight, black fabric molded perfectly to his body. His fingers are full of silver rings, some from Remus, some from his brother, some thrifted, all well loved. And his face. Remus can’t breathe. Sirius has on makeup, somehow looking even more attractive.
He has on smudged eyeliner which makes his silver eyes more striking. Glitter adorns his eyelids and cheeks, shimmering in the light James is holding. His lips are stained a dark red, and Remus wants to pull them between his teeth. He can’t look away, he can’t believe he got so lucky.
Finally Sirius is at the bottom of the stairs, but Remus hasn’t moved. He can’t move. Instead he is just staring from his spot on the couch. It isn’t until he catches a glint of uncertainty in those starlit eyes that he launches himself forward, catching those deep red lips in his own.
He pulls back, smiling down on his boyfriend, “You look beautiful.” He whispers breathlessly.
Sirius just smiles at him shyly. James is talking from by the light switch, but Remus can’t think about anything other than claiming those lips again for himself. So he does.
Until James starts clapping from beside them, cheering noisily.
“Wow, thank you so much to the lovely couple. That was some fantastic PDA. Do you think you could go actually display affection in public? Instead of in my living room?” Remus and Sirius pull apart to throw James matching glares.
Remus remembers the flowers and grabs them, gearing himself up for an awful joke that he knows Sirius will adore. “Here are some tulips, can I kiss your two lips?”
Sirius lets out a screech of excitement and gives Remus a peck, not exactly what he wanted, but his boyfriend is too busy jumping with excitement. Sirius grabs the red tulips and breathes them in deeply before handing them off to James.
“Put those in water. I have a date with a very handsome man.” And Sirius is back by his side and back in his arms.
They head to the next part of their date.
oOo
The diner is set up for Valentine’s Day, each table covered in hearts and fake candles. The two boys sat on the same side of the booth, neither wanted a whole table between them. However, the close quarters makes Remus’ bouncing leg impossible to miss.
“Okay, why are you still so nervous? You know I like it here.” Sirius asks, placing a hand on the offending knee.
“Oh no reason I just—” Music starts to play and he pauses, listening intently. Remus jumps up from their seat, brow furrowed. “Shit—If you hate this, don’t hold it against me.”
Their waitress comes over with a microphone and hands it to Remus, who is now sweating and scrunching his eyes closed.
He pulls Sirius to the edge of his seat and stands above him. Suddenly he starts singing and Sirius is done for. He keeps falling more in love with Remus every day.
“I want to spend my life with a boy like you” Sirius can hear the music say girl in the background, but it doesn’t matter. All that matters is Remus and the words floating between them.
Remus is smiling at him, but it is a tight nervous thing. Although he is loving it, he wants to take the mic away and hold Remus in his arms. He continues, swaying slightly with the music. “Ba-ba-ba-ba-ba, ba-ba-ba-ba. And do all the things that you want me to.”
Sirius can’t take his eyes away from Remus, forgets that the diner was full a minute ago, and loses himself in their world alone together. A world set to music, perfect only because of the person singing, “Ba-ba-ba-ba-ba, ba-ba-ba-ba”
Remus takes a deep breath. “'Til that time has come that we might live as one. Can I dance with you?” He sets down the mic, turning it off in the process, and offers Sirius a hand. He takes it without hesitation.
They slide together, slow dancing as the song plays in the background. It isn’t anything special, just two boys swaying side by side, but to them, it is everything. They press their foreheads together, no words able to communicate the love they feel. Sirius is smiling as he thinks about what his boyfriend just did, about the eyes he knows are on them. He wants to pull him closer, to let everyone know that this amazing boy is
his
. But he doesn’t have to. Everyone knows. Because Remus’ eyes haven’t left his for a second.
The song comes to a close and applause surrounds them. They share a kiss and return to their table. Sirius doesn’t stop smiling, he honestly doesn’t even know if it is possible.
oOo
That wasn’t the end of the date. Remus had at least five more activities lined up. But none of that mattered, not when he had Sirius in his arms. At first, he’d been consumed by doubt, questioning every activity and worried Sirius wouldn’t like the date. But when he spoke with Lily, something shifted within him.
What Sirius wanted for Valentine’s Day wasn’t grand gestures or fancy plans—he wanted Remus. And Remus wanted him.
