Maintenance was still important, even for a cupid, and with no missions going on and Koharu out getting supplies, Kanna had made her way to the park and was quietly stripping down her guns. A handful of pigeons settled in around her as she worked, gently warbling away in the evening sun.Footsteps broke the silence.Chiyo strode into view. Kanna narrowed her eyes as Chiyo smirked at her, but didn’t say a word, instead making her way to the bench opposite and plonking herself down. She was looking at her. Quietly. The quietly was the weirdest part. No explaination, no casual quip as she waited, with only that infuriating smile to be seen. What on Earth was she doing? An arm went over the back. A wing stretched out over the other side. A leg planted up on the seat and Chiyo smirked as she openly lounged back and locked eyes with Kanna.Oh.She wanted her attention alright.Chiyo lifted her hand slowly, pointedly. In it was a roundish shape, slightly soft under her thumb where she gripped it, tightly held, and wrapped all in white paper. And Chiyo slowly began to unwrap it, peeling it open corner by corner, keeping eye contact all the time. Kanna caught a wiff of the contents inside. Chicken.
Why was it always chicken?
The pigeons rustled and fluttered, restless around her, but Kanna couldn’t look away. Chiyo kept eye contact throughout: a challenge? A threat? But inexplicably did the same thing she had already done three other times this week, and slowly took large pointed bits of the oversized roll, pointedly consuming it piece by piece while Kanna couldn’t look away. A theatre? A nightmare? All Kanna knew was that it made her blood boil, and her hand gripped the nearest object. Cold, hard, rounded, and rounded again. Her thumb flicked against the pin, and somehow, she could still not look away from that stupid sandwich.Chiyo still hadn’t said a word, working through the last few bites with agonising slowness. And it was gone. This inexplicable mockery done at last, but still Chiyo held her gaze, unblinking, unexplained, still wearing that self-delighted smirk that read like it had already won with this little performance. What did she mean???She didn’t even hear her arrive.“Uh,”“Oh hey Koharu!”Kanna’s head jerked up at Chiyo's words like she’d been shot, and Koharu was there, stood in the park, plastic bags in hand, trying to make sense of the scene in front of her. “Oh hey, I didn’t expect to find you here.”“Oh it’s nothing,” Chiyo said, idly flicked the last crumbs off. “Just hanging out.” She jumped up, strolling up to Koharu and leaning on her to snoop into the bags she was carrying. “Watchu got?”Koharu seemed to blush, wilting under the attention. “Uh, ah, dinner. It’s, um, um..."Kanna growled something darkly under her breath.“What was that?” Chiyo said.Kanna lifted her head. “She’s already eaten,” she growled again, looking daggers at Chiyo.Chiyo chuckled, a wing right around Koharu now, scooping her almost into a hug. Kanna glared at her, from all fours, white knuckles gripped around the grenade in hand. Chiyo raised an eyebrow, still smirking, elbow on Koharu’s shoulder. She lingered there a little longer. “I guess I already have.”Chiyo broke away, pushing herself off Koharu with a self-assured wave.“I’ll be seeing you then.”And she left, Kanna still frozen in fury, glaring at her back all the way.Koharu blinked and looked between them in the silence behind, trying to figure out what the heck just happened.“...did I miss something?”
